This place has descended into absolute disarray since the previous managing agents (Armand and Lisa) retired. Now emails are not answered at all, reservations that are finally sent are wrong, there is no correction or follow-up….

My family and I have been staying here off and on for 50 year's, it's become a family tradition, every summers week on the Cape. The cottages are cozy, clean, rustic. The location can't be beat, right on top of the dunes at Lecount Hollow Beach. If quiet and peaceful is what you seek on vacation, this is the place for it.

Excellent until 2025 when the price on the cottage we rented every year for 13 years, same week in August (2 bedroom 1 bath) was raised from $4000. to $7439.24. Very disappointing

I stayed at Another World. It has three bedrooms, a nice size living room and kitchen. A grill, picnic table, outside chairs, and an outside shower are in the back yard. It also had WiFi. I love that at the end of the street is access to the beach. The bike trail is also close by. This is our favorite vacation spot!

Thank you so much Armand! We felt like we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The cottage was just like I remember others from my childhood . I wanted my grandchildren to have a similar experience . Hope fully we can find our way back from Hawaii some day.

Beautiful classic Cape cottages. Responsive staff. Steps from the beach.

Great service, thanks Armand! Beautiful cottage with all the amenities. We stayed in Cliffside cottage, beautiful outside shower, very useful when coming back from the beach.. Lecount hollow beach at walking distance, where you can really carry your chair and parasol...

Very outdated furniture, carpet smelled like mildew, spider webs found throughout room and on furniture, only good thing was the ac worked good kept room cold in 90 degree weather, pool not kept up with maintenance lots of debris in the water, overall would not care to go back.

Yelp
Beautiful, comfortable cottages that are steps from the water. We have stayed at three diffident cottages and look forward to our next visit. Armand and the team are wonderful hosts.

Yelp
I have been going to Surf Side Cottages since 1966, intermittently but have stayed in almost all of the cottages through the years and a few of them several times. This year we had a family reunion and rented three cottages. One was refurbished and it showed. The other two were terrible. Mattresses sagging, mattress pads ripped, closet veneers peeling. It was horribly disappointing and I know now that we will never return. And this was not an inexpensive holiday, $2,700-$3,100 for the week each. The photos and the reality are very different, beware.

Yelp
Comfortable houses a five minute walk from the spectacular ocean beach - quintissential cape cod vacation! These have become condos, so each owner puts a different level of care into their property and prices are set according to their sense of value - so more $$ isn't necessarily a better cottage. The property manager is attentive and friendly. The ocean is right there. But it is a steep walk down the dunes. It's also a public beach. I always visit on the off season and have found the beach to be nearly deserted, even in mid June. It is especially lovely in the early morning. It's about a 3/4 mile bike ride to the cape cod rail trail, on the paved road which has little shoulder but in the off season anyway the drivers are safe and respectful. The road riding around the ponds is excellent -rolling hills, quiet roads. It's also only about a 10 minute walk to the Marconi site and cedar trail boardwalk. Go down lacount hollow towards rte 6 and turn down the sand road called "wireless". The ponds of wellfleet are a delight- clear and clean and again nearly deserted in mid June. The water is chilly though! I've always stayed in the cabin called surf side. It is well furnished and comfortable. Lots of storage, nice kitchen even a dishwasher! The stairs to the two upstairs bedrooms are VERY steep and precarious. My 70 old mother can just do them. The bathroom is modern and clean, shower only - with a skylight in it! The bath is right off the kitchen which can be a bit awkward-the owners have provided air freshener! On that topic - these owners provide much more than you would expect - Tupperware, bags and wraps, dish soap, all manner of dishes and cooking gear. The group of condos also has a laundry facility - $2.00 to wash and the same to dry. You need quarters. The town of wellfleet has ample dining options. The harbor beaches are nice for long walks and sea shell collection. Bugs are dismal everywhere in wellfleet, especially at surfside. Bring your preferred bug prevention and keep the screen door closed.

Yelp
We've been going to Surf Side for over ten years and we love it. The clean, well-stocked cottages are uncluttered and unpretentious and they are on a short path to the most beautiful beach in the National Seashore. Most of the weekly housing in Wellfleet is housekeeping which means that you supply your own linens and towels and there is no maid service. That is perfect for us. We stop at the Stop and Shop in Orleans and load up our car with provisions. While my children were younger, they loved the ponds, but now that they are older and surfing, we only go to the beach by the cottage which means that you don't need to purchase a parking pass from the town (which you need for pond parking.) We take the larger cottage closest to the beach but I've sneaked a peek into most of them and they are all pretty great. Things to ask about are - some of the units have roof decks, some have more than one level (if you have toddlers or grandparents) some are on a road which isn't all that noisy but it's good to know. Most of the owners have kept the simplicity of the cottages before they were condo'd. All have outdoor showers (heaven) some have fire pits. Thankfully almost none have televisions, so it's quiet at night. Except for the tide breaking! The rentals come with local management who couldn't be more helpful. There is a laundry room onsite and some folks leave boogie boards and chairs in there so check before you purchase. I can't say enough good things about Surf Side and Wellfleet. There is no scene. There are amazing beaches. There are great fish joints (and The Wicked Oyster has a great breakfast, too.)

Yelp
We were so sure this was going to turn out to be a bad idea, but it was the best vacation we've had in years. It is a charming 1950s cabin which is clean as a whistle. One of us has allergies, and this place had no moldy smell anywhere and nothing to cause wheezing. Laundry facilities are in a separate building a short walk away. If you are flying in, ask them about their linen service. There is great water pressure in the small indoor shower. Tons of pots, pans, cookie sheets, dishes, cutlery, glasses and mugs for someone who wants to cook. The only thing not there is an Instapot. If that is your thing, you'll need to bring your own. There is a full-size dishwasher, a microwave, coffee pot, oven, and fridge. There is reliable WIFI, but poor cell service. There is a landline in the house for use. There is a large table in the kitchen which is perfect for puzzles. The TV gets all the cable channels with clear reception. The garden was lovely and the lilac bush scented the screened front porch and kitchen. We were there in June, so did not need AC, but there are tons of windows with cross-ventilation, ceiling fans in the LR, and 3 bedrooms. There is also AC in each of the bedrooms. This is a great place for birders and we even had a wild turkey at the bird feeder. The roof deck is wonderful with dappled shade somewhere all day and direct sun on other parts all day. It was so peaceful to sit on the roof among the trees and watch the birds. There is a very sturdy wide wooden stairway on the outside of the house up to the roof. There are wooden railings on both sides. It is about 15 stairs to the roof. The house has a couple of steps to enter the living room and kitchen level. The bedrooms and bathroom are about 6 step up from the living room. The largest bedroom is the one with the twin beds, but all are fine for sleeping, reading, and dressing. The neighborhood was quiet in June with an occasional car on the road outside, but nothing troublesome. The ocean is a short walk along a path. There is a bench for sitting up above the beach for those with limited mobility, and there is a parking lot right next to the bench. Long Pond with a floating dock had people swimming in it, and it is about a 10-minute drive from the house. It looked like a small lake with a beach area, if you prefer that to the ocean. There is a wonderful French restaurant and bakery a mile down the road. It has great baked goods and sandwiches. Peter can give you other restaurant recommendations in Wellfleet. We enjoyed the Hopper Tour by a local woman whose father knew the painter and his wife. It is a two-hour car tour with no walking. Lots of local information and interesting info on the painter. Not great for photography however, as most of the views have changed since he painted them. http://www.hopperhousetours.com/ . There is a super yarn shop in Dennis that the knitter in our family recommends https://www.saltyarnstudio.com/ . The owner is non-intrusive but will offer really good suggestions if asked. The shop is large and has a large table to sit down and mull over possible purchases. If you want to eat well, sleep well, do quiet activities or outdoor activities, and share time with a spouse or loved one, this is a wonderful refuge. It is also LGBTQ friendly. We have already booked next year.

Yelp
Great location with some of the cottages just steps away from the most awesome beaches in the area. Pick your cabins / cottage carefully as some of them are way better than the others - and they go fast during the peak season. The management company is responsive, friendly, and professional. As result, the cottages are clean, fully equipped, and nicely maintained.

Yelp
We stayed at BeachComber cottage - easy access to beautiful beach. The cottage was very clean (we left it the same for the next guest), pretty spacious, very comfortable for a family of four - for really unbeatable price - even for off-season!

Yelp
We've been going to Wellfleet for 34 years ... honeymoon, camping, hotels, and other cottages. We found Surf Side Cottages several years ago and now heading to our little, dog-friendly place, only steps to Lecount Hollow Beach is our favorite get-away on the Cape. Armand and family, thank you for making us feel welcome!
