I booked a room through booking.com and was put in a different room than the one I booked. The room I booked said it had a pool view, and a private dining area. My room was down a dark hallway with a window next to the street & a window (with no curtain) in the bathroom where people from the street could see directly into the shower. No pool view or private dining area. The bed was hard and I could feel the springs poking me when I laid down. I went to the front desk to ask for a new room and between that time to when I received a response from the manager was about an hour. By then I’d booked another accommodation for the rest of my stay but had to stay there that night because it was so late. Fortunately the manager was understanding about the room not being the one I booked and agreed to refund the rest of my stay since I was leaving. I stayed that night and when I woke up there was about 1” of water in the corner of my room because of the rain. My backpack with my camera equipment happened to be there and my laptop was wet. When I told the manager about it, all they did was send someone to make sure there was water in my room. I was pretty disappointed in my experience at Surfbreak and will not be returning. This was a very hostel-like experience and not at all what I was expecting. I will say that all of the front desk staff were very kind and the tall young woman at the front desk with the smiley piercing was very accommodating & helped translate for my taxi driver to find me. I appreciated that and the breakfast was great as well.

We’re currently staying at Surf Break B&B and love it here! The location is great, super close to good surf and beautiful beaches, and it’s very affordable for the area. We spent a few nights elsewhere during our trip but ended up coming back because the atmosphere here is just so nice. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and comfortable. The rooms and the place overall are lovely, and all the staff are really friendly and so accommodating! Waking up to tons of butterflies and hummingbirds around the hibiscus that’s right outside our room is a bonus too. It’s a great spot, would highly recommend it!

I traveled solo and I was so pleased with my entire 9 day stay at Surfbreak Cabarete. I was looking for a hostel to stay so I could meet other travelers and there aren't any in the area. This was the perfect place to meet friends, and that I did. The girls at reception were lovely, especially Nichol who was so kind and welcoming when I arrived/departed. All of the staff are there to answer questions and support travelers. I tried surfing for the first time and all guys at Wave Soul were amazing as well as the other seasoned surfers staying were so supportive and encouraging. The yoga room was so lovely, especially on the rainy days. I really have no complaints and can only dream about returning to this beautiful place. Un abrazo fuerte a todos del Surfbreak y Wave Soul!!

Surf Break is the perfect place to enjoy the area. Only a short ride to Cabarete, Sosua and about 25 min out of Puerto Plata. It is my second time here and value to what you get to enjoy is fantastic. Beautiful gardens and relax in one of their hammocks for a little serenity. A short walk to a wonderful beach to surf with guys and girls at wave soul. Simple but nice breakfast to fuel up on before the day starts. Areas, rooms are full of character, full kitchen to make your own meals if desired but several places to walk and grab a bite to eat. You are making a mistake not to stay here when coming to the area. See you all again soon!

If your are looking for a place near the surf beach where you can just walk along and enjoy this tropical paradise, then Surfbreak is the place to stay at. Amazing rooms with varied options, super clean and organized kitchen to cook your favorite meals and most importantly human quality that you cannot find in many other places. 100% recommended, would come back every time I go to Cabarete.

I went there with my ex, and the place was so amazing that I almost forgot what a red flag he is! The volunteers were beyond nice: always ready to help, chat, or recommend things. The owners are extraordinary; they even give you the contact of a taxi driver who won’t try to rip you off. I met a bunch of nice people there that I keep contact with. The place itself is wonderful: two pools and a facility that’s cleaned daily. The garden, full of plants, was such a pleasant surprise. Hot water with good pressure, breakfast every day with local food, coffee available all day, and drinkable water which I think is essential in such high temperatures. The beach is less than a 10-minute walk away. It’s rocky, but perfect for surfing. They provide towels for both your bedroom and the swimming pool. Honestly, I could not find anything to complain about. And regarding the only bad review below from Antonio, trust me, I was there, and all the women were avoiding him on purpose. I can’t believe he complained about mosquitoes… I mean, it is the Dominican Republic! All my love to the staff, they made me feel so welcome. Truly an unforgettable stay. 100% recommended.

This is my second time visiting surf break and can't recommend enough. A friendly and safe place to meet like minded travelers with beautiful natural grounds wand many areas around the property to take in some serenity in one of many hammocks around the property. When it gets hot, there are 2 pools to cool off or a short walk to a beautiful beach and take a surf lesson with wave soul, swim in the ocean or lay on the beach. There is a full kitchen available to make your own meals or visit several eating options by surf break and along the beach. Breakfast is simple but perfect for a healthy start to everyday offering eggs, fresh fruits, cereals, fresh rolls and coffee. The rooms come in many varieties with great character, comfortable beds and the property is kept clean. If you are looking for some night life, you can make you way into Cabarete (15 min. Away). I encourage anyone visiting to area to add Surf Break to their bucket list.

Our Favorite Spot in Cabarete – 100% Recommended! We've stayed here three times already, and it keeps getting better! The place is absolutely beautiful — super clean, full of tropical greenery, and with such a peaceful and positive vibe. The hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the staff is always attentive and helpful. The food is amazing (seriously, every meal!) and the breakfast is delicious. Perfect location for surfing — just steps from the beach. We always feel right at home here. Can’t wait to come back again! Thank you Eleonora and Jeremias, excellent hostess.
