We loved our stay at Surfer’s Bay! My husband and I booked Room 11 on the upper floor, which had air conditioning, two bedrooms, bathroom, dining/kitchen space and a terrace with L shaped sofas, hammock and picnic table. The suite was really lovely - it was decorated in beachy neutrals and had everything we needed for our week stay. The terrace and poolside views of the gorgeous blue Barbados waters made our vacation. ||The gastropub serves great pub food. The Bajan chicken curry, fishcakes and burger were faves. Music is loud on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday but it’s really fun! I used silicone earplugs to block out noise if I wanted an early night on those evenings.||We hired a Suzuki Jimny from Stoute Avis Rentals at the airport, which was perfect for us as we used Surfer’s Bay as a base from which to explore the entire island. ||With a location right on a tropical beach, of course you might find the odd insect or tiny ants, so it’s important to put food in the fridge or airtight containers, keep surfaces clean and wash dirty dishes straight after dining. We were careful not to leave delish Bajan banana bread crumbs anywhere! No bugs in sight after realizing we just had to be a little thoughtful. ||Our departure flight was only at 5pm so Will kindly let us leave our luggage at his office in Room 1 and offered us the use of Room 2 to freshen up and change before leaving for the airport.||Our restaurant recommendations included:||Surfer’s Cafe in Oistins for brunch - go early for a beach view table - it is a wow!|Champers in Bridgetown for a romantic dinner|The Fish Pot in Saint Peter (my absolute fave) for a beautiful lunch - the earlier you book the better table you receive. Love their fair seating system!|La Cabane for a chill beachside fish and jerk chicken grill. Stunning beach!||Enjoy!!

From the moment we arrived, Will and his team made us feel at home. The beautifully decorated suites had every comfort, with a well-equipped kitchen for cooking and super-comfy beds that gave us the best sleep. The spacious balconies were a dream, with hammocks and plenty of seating—perfect for relaxing. The lovely pool was another highlight, offering plenty of space to unwind and listen to the sound of the crashing waves! The bar was lots of fun with live music at the weekend - cocktails and food were both outstanding! Really nice vibe of locals and visitors! Every detail made our stay truly special—we can’t wait to return! Massive thanks to Will, Matt and the team for having us and hopefully see you again next year!

Just got back from Surfer’s Bay with my family (10, 12, 23) and already missing it. If you’re looking for a more secluded, laid-back spot in Barbados, this place is it. Super easy to get around, and the peaceful vibe was exactly what we were hoping for.||Will and his dad Matt were great hosts. They were kind, engaging, helpful, and always available if you needed anything. Solid people. Reggae Night on Sunday was hands down the best live reggae I can remember hearing.||The restaurant was solid comparatively (great cocktails too), but just a heads-up: it doesn’t open until 4pm, so grab some groceries at Massy’s or another shop to have breakfast/lunch covered. Totally manageable if you plan ahead!||Since I read the other more negative reviews before writing this, here's my experience: || 1. The A/C worked just fine. Just make sure to keep the doors closed and it cools down.| 2. We only saw ants when we left food on the counter (our bad). As long as you’re tidy, no issues.| 3. We had plenty of hot water for 5 people back-to-back after a day in the ocean. No problem.||All in all, we had an awesome time. Already dreaming about going back!

A little piece of heaven! If you’re looking to relax and unwind this is the place.|A little off the beaten track it’s a great place to walk and enjoy the wild, rugged features of the coastline. Watch the kite surfers do their tricks and the let the world drift by.|The rooms have been upgraded and are now well equipped with comfortable beds and amazing showers. Rustic style decor is the theme for the entire resort.|Sunday nights are the best, come down and eat, drink and enjoy the vibe from one of the top reggae bands on the island.|Well done Matt &Will you have done a stellar job - see you again soon

What a wonderful gem of a place this is ! Almost don’t want to advertise this place because it’s so very special . Hidden away but close to the airport overlooking crystal blue seas with turtles bobbing around …. Lovely quiet pool area but fun reggae music nights at the weekend . Wonderful bar staff who do the best rum sours on the island and amazing home cooked fayre from 4pm . Will and Matt are the loveliest of hosts always there for advice and the odd coconut that gets taken down from the palms . Rooms are simplistic but very tasteful and the balconies are wonderful viewing platforms day & night . Surfers bay is a very happy laid back place to stay . I can’t wait to go back !

I'm a bit surprised at the overwhelming positivity / high ratings in the reviews that I read before booking Surfers Bay Resort. Starting with the positives, I believe that the location is exactly what I was looking for. It's out of the way of the busy Bridgetown area while still being with reach of all the key areas of the island. It was quiet at night, beautiful location, and the staff were very friendly when I saw them the one time. With that said, there were so many issues with this hotel that I cannot in good faith go higher than an average rating. There were ants all over the place, and not just ants, but flies as well. All night we would wake up to flies within 4 feet of us. A very simple upgrade that would go a long way is screens on the windows. The toilet was one of the most pathetic toilets I've experienced. I've been to rural parts of Thailand with better toilets. You'll need at least 5+ flushes to get anything down. On top of that, at least 80% of our showers were warm at best. The last detail I will complain about is the balcony. Staying in a suite I expected a bit more privacy. However, you basically share a slightly offset balcony with the suite next to you. Not sure it's worth the price you pay given all the issues.

I had high hopes for my stay at Surfers Bay Resort, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. First, the room was infested with ants—I couldn't leave anything out without it being covered in them. Completely unacceptable for a resort that claims to offer quality accommodations.||On top of that, the mini-split air conditioner was rusted and barely worked, literally dripping rusty water onto the counter below it. The refrigerator plug was "spliced" and really dangerous. It was clear that maintenance is not a priority here.||We also came back to our room and a stray cat was on our bed. Friendly but If your party has anyone allergic to cats, this would be unwelcome. ||What really pushed me to write this review, though, was the blatant disregard for the resort’s own policies. They explicitly state that children under 10 are not allowed, yet there were multiple young kids running around, making noise, and disrupting the atmosphere. One of the main reasons I booked this place was for a peaceful stay, and that expectation was completely ruined.||I cannot recommend Surfers Bay Resort to anyone looking for a clean, well-maintained, and policy-abiding place to stay. Until they address these major issues, I would strongly advise others to book elsewhere.||To be as fair as possible, the onsite management tried to assist us and was kind enough to upgrade us to a suite. We were also compensated for a few nights after contacting the owner. But I would have been happier paying full price for a quiet environment. The live music was excellent. But, if you want a quiet night there really isn't any way to get away from the performances.

Lovely experience! Super pretty apartments, beautiful sea view, the perfect mix of quiet evenings and nice live music every now and then. And most importantly, very friendly hosts. Thanks so much for making our stay as comfortable as can be, Will! We’ll definitely be back.
