Surfing Crab Mcallen

I love this franchise and we decided to try this location since we were in the area. It was pretty busy considering we came on a Sunday afternoon but we were still seated immediately. Service was outstanding! Our server made sure we had everything we needed and kept checking up on us, without being too overwhelming. The food was delicious, but my boil was a little bit salty but it was still tasty and nothing my side of steamed rice couldn’t neutralize. I added on two eggs to it as well and they were slightly overcooked, but like I said, my plate was still delicious nonetheless. My boyfriend got the fried fish basket and his fries were a little too heavily seasoned according to him. But the fish, no matter which location we’ve been to, has always been perfectly crispy, battered perfectly and finger licking. Overall will be back if in the area. Those small quirks are not enough to deter us from one of our favorite restaurants!

Really great food and service from all staff in general! First time coming and will definitely come again! We got food for two and it was well served :)

Really enjoyed going to this place but yesterday will be the last time. Sever took a while to take our drink and food order which is ok. That was not the big issue. I ordered a boil and the order took a long time to come out. I had to ask the server to check on it, not sure how long my order was sitting for but when the server brought my food it had a big fly. So yeah won't be going there anymore.

If you're looking for the ultimate seafood fix, this is the spot! The seafood boil was incredible—perfectly seasoned, fresh, and arrived steaming hot. But what really made the night was our server, Dianey. She provided absolutely excellent service from start to finish. Dianey was super attentive, made great recommendations on the spice levels, and made sure our drinks stayed full the entire time. If you go, definitely ask for Dianey—she’s the best!

I went to dine with the family and Danny the waiter gave us a great time. atmosphere was great, prices very manageable. The parking lot very easy to handle. I have great time with my dinner, advisable, great taste and a good recommendations from Danny. I will comeback soon!

Pete was an amazing server at Surfing Crab! From the moment we sat down, he was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. He explained the menu well, checked on us at the perfect times, and kept the vibe fun and welcoming. Our food came out great, and Pete definitely made the experience even better. Came in for my wifes birthday. Everything was great. Pete our server was excellent. He was very efficient. I was suprised how fast the food came out.Ty for the great dining experience. Highly recommended.

Best food of my entire life. This was our first time trying sea food boil and it was delicious. We got all of the seasonings with mild spicy (not spicy which is my preference) and I swear I'm going to crave it every day. It was an amazing deal considering it can feed two people. Our only complaint was the service, our waiter accidentally put in the wrong order and it took over 30 minutes to get our correct order to our table. We were with our friends so we waited till their food arrived so we can all eat at the same time and our food got cold (totally our own decision) but thankfully we informed the manager and they reheated our food. The ambiance was nice the manager was very kind as well

Wait staff was friendly for the most part. I ordered the catfish basket and the fish was pretty slimy my wife had a boil she enjoyed it. Restaurant is a little too loud to hold a conversation similar to Texas roadhouse

My friend said that there was too much garlic in her food, my sandwich was good!! Our server felt rushed to attend us and we felt rushed to order or say anything. But we noticed that he attended to older men from the Oil rigs with patience and he was more attentive to them than us. Maybe better service next time. We went around 4:40 and it was calm inside which we liked a lot

THIS is our GO-TO place to eat on our day off in McAllen, Texas. When I'm not in town, I count down the days until we get back and eat Surfing Crab! I get the special with 2.25lbs of snow crab, .5lb of crawfish, .5lb of shrimp, taters, corn, and sausage in their Original Surfing Crab Boil mix... regular spicy was the perfect heat for me. I love it!!!

Always come here for the seafood boil but unfortunately the waitress was slacking with the service.

Terrible place food has no flavor taste like butter and when i asked the waitress she ignored us for 40 minutes straight after she had said she was gonna bring the seasoning her excuse was she forgot I would understand if the place was full but that wasn't the case she was just talking with the other employees

The food took almost an hour and place was pretty empty. Service was not great at all. One waitress for one whole side of the restaurant. We did not receive any gloves or bibs for the food. Pretty disappointed for our daughter's birthday dinner.

My husband called to place an order, Gloria was giving him attitude just because he asked if she can repeat his order, really bad service! Then I called to ask her if there was a problem and she was still giving me attitude saying she didnt have time for this and just hanged up!

We split our lunch and walked away stuffed. Had their lunch boil with crab and manila clams, potatoes, corn and a mix of all their flavors with a lot of garlic. Appetizers we had egg rolls and summer rolls. Eggs rolls were the better of the two. Still haven't found really good egg rolls in the valley. Had the chocolate cake for dessert and a tequila. Generous servings for food and liquor. Server was excellent who checked on us, just enough.

Our waitress was amazing and really attended to all our needs. Food was absolutely delicious and was cooked to perfection as usual!! Would recommend 100%

Food was terrible , the only part of the meal there was good was the crab legs all the rest was not very tasty

If you want flavor and taste, then come here. If you don't like bad service, divided attention, forgetful waiters, then don't come here. Went out for lunch yesterday and the service was piss f&@ing poor. I'm sorry. But y'all need to get your shit together. We were sat by the manager, whom looked like a regular employee. She took our drink order and forgot the lemons for our water. I asked her what the go to dish was, or what very popular here. And she replies, "Uh Seafood!" Like no shit Sherlock! When the waiter came it was like wham bam thank you maam. Didn't have time to explain or talk about the menu. We ordered lemons a third time and never brought them. We ordered a beer and a Paloma and it came at the end of our meal. What happened to great service with a smile? What happened to being a waiter and being there for every need. So disgusted with our service, I didn't tip at all! It was well deserved for them. I used to be a waiter for 5 years off and on. That goes to show you that I have plenty of empathy for fellow servers but last night that guy should look for a different line of work. Food was delicious but I wish there was more corn and potatoes, plus the sausage is thinly sliced, didn't like that at all.

My wife and I absolutely love this place! Everything that we've had is very good and we love the seafood. Prices are a tad expensive but that's normal for seafood. Their boils and everything is amazing. Love the seasoning!

Customer service was just not good. Our shrimp was over cooked we had waited about 40min until we got our food. They wanted to replace the shrimp for us and not remove the extra charge but we didn't not want to wait another 40min for it. Just left it as is. Plus they charge a server fee when all they did was bring the food and drink and wouldn't check up on us.

Coworker raved about this place. My wife and I always go to Mr. Crabbys. The food looked good and would of loved to have tried but after 45 minutes they told us they couldn't find our order. Did order a drink and that was really good. Paid for our drinks and walked out. Going to Mr. Crabby to get my shrimp craving.

Very fast service. Extremely good seafood. A little pricey, but definitely worth it as far as portion. Will definitely be going back. Fried shrimp/fish is also very very good.

Food is good. Service from certain waiters is literal butt. The environment is really loud so if you don't like chaotic sceneries this is not for you. The drinks taste like unwashed cups and chlorine or tap water. The seafood here is ok it can be better. The cleanliness of the restaurant could be better the spacing of the tables is terrible. It's so crowded and you will feel like you're suffocating. If I could give this restaurant a 0 star I would!

Servers always complain about the tips they get, but they don't even give good service. The managers are rude and they steal tips. They don't give hosts breaks and they don't let them sit at all throughout the 7 hour shift. They make the workers pay when they mess up on food orders. Don't go here, food is overpriced and doesn't taste good.

The food was fantastic but the table service we had was terrible.. if you get a little waitress with a pink streak in her hair for your server ask for someone else. We had a party of 9 and she only came to our table once between ordering/arrival of food and our completing the meal ... We were there for 2 hours at that. Spent more time laughing at the register with other wait staff and playing with her phone than looking for customers waiving her down. And they don't understand that the gratuity really isn't automatic. I tried to speak with the manager but i honestly do not believe she understood English.

Our son and daughter-in-law took us here to eat. We all ordered the McAllen special seafood boil. The food was perfectly cooked and the wait staff was so pleasant. We thorough enjoyed our visit here and will return definitely.

Had a nice quiet meal here. Ray was our server, he was very attentive and did an awesome job.
