Surfrider Beach

Loved this beach. Great spots for getting in the water safely and not big waves throwing you around. Next to the Malibu Pier which makes it more fun to enjoy the view around. Restaurants are at a walking distance so no problem to eat something quick and come back. Couple of lifeguard shacks. People who were enjoying the ocean were decent and well behaved so I feel pretty safe to come back with my kids next time.

Great beach for long boarding , chilling on the beach or swimming. The waves usually are usually not too big on the swimming side, so it’s easy to get in. Great surfer vibes. Beautiful sunset. Parking: Parking can be difficult on the weekends, but I have always been able to find street parking or in the Surfrider beach lot ($15) or the Lagoon state beach lot (around $3.50 per hour). Eating: There is Malibu farms at the pier near by, aviator nation, or other spots. I have not been to a restaurant that has really impressed me there.

One of my favorite surfing beaches for so many reasons! It seems to be the most popular surfing spot in the area because of good waves! Because they roll in at angles to the shore, surfers can return to their waiting spots via sand beach path, or around to wade thru shallow water. The beach with surf is clean and accessible, has lifeguards present during the daytime and is designated for surfing! In addition, there’s several parking options, from street parking to lots with attendants, local businesses and shopping centers. Public restrooms may be found by the lifeguard station and at the outhouse of the Adamson House Museum. Waves are fairly good for surfing and boogie boarding. When everyone’s spaced in consideration of others, the effect of multiple surfers going up top simultaneously per given wave is awe-inspiring, as if all to ride with every set! Newcomers and newbie’s may survey the waterfront from the parking lot, as to best fit in with the camaraderie for optimal enjoyment! Surfrider experienced boarders may have regular spots to wait and hang out together. Thus crowding conflicts are minimized, as the unspoken etiquette is understood and respected!

Nothing special. I saw many beautiful beach'es . Only the surfers are awesome and I am impressed with these surfers ❤️oh god! The beach is common. But I recommend it for stop to see this talented people.

Crowded and overrated beach in the Malibu area. Tons of surfers and tourists, but almost no available parking, making it even more congested and difficult to navigate around. It's a decent area with a prime real estate location, but after the Malibu fires, the resources and food/drink options out here are very limited. If you're a surfer there's a very supportive environment here for you with plenty of folks grabbing waves and enjoying the socal surf culture life. If you're here for an event or just looking to relax on the beach, you may be better suited to find a different location that isn't as congested or dirty/undermaintained.

A nice little beach near the Adamson House and the Malibu Pier. They have a small lot for $15 but it fills up fast on the weekend. The beach itself, definitely something good for surfers. Waves looked perfect for riding and they even have signs saying you're only supposed to be surfing here, no swimming. It was pretty crowded on Saturday but we were able to get a nice little spot on the beach. Overall good beach, clean waters.

Malibu Surfride is a different kind of beach because it's located near the lagoon, so the "landscape" isn't the same, you get to see more nature, birds, there are some houses near by, also the Malibu Pier. So you have great views and more activites. Parking is a tad tough, but that's how it is on PCH, there are a few parking lots around. The tide is cute and it's fun to get in, more like a pool. This beach is great to walk around besides your regular lying in the sun kind of option. Some rocks and lots of pelicans in the area, very photogenic part of Malibu.

Beautiful Malibu beach! Of course you cannot come to Malibu and not visit this wonderland and surfers paradise. Parking can be tricky.. there is a parking garage right in front of the pier entrance and only $15 all day you can't beat that compared to others around the area. The water here is super clear and clean. Family and dog friendly! Highly recommend and cannot wait to return on my next visit ^.^

This small beach is quite a hidden gem. The surfers come here to catch the waves but there aren't a lot of people. The tide comes in low sometimes so you can walk deep into parts of the beach. There are also bathrooms nearby and easy access to Malibu pier. I find the street parking here easier to find in this part of Malibu. Beautiful!

The GOOD: One of the cleanest (at least visibly) and calmest waters in SoCal. Great for swimming, most of the time. Dont have to fight wave and wind 24/7 unlike Manhattan and Hermosa areas. Relatively easy to find, park and you're right there. No cross street trekking, climbing up or down long steps or stairs, just a few depending on where you park. Pier is right by you to walk and eat (not for me too touristy and pricey). Although small beach to swim as surfers hog the shit out of over half the sea area, you can walk about a mile down to the right side and come back on the sand. Have restrooms. Nasty, but have them. The NOT SO GOOD: Parking, although have 2 lots flanking the beach, are tight, cramped, small, and fill up hella fast (yes per usual no escapeland L.A.) Im a morning person so 9am does the trick, although it seems every year need to come earlier and earlier no nab a spot, especially after covid. Prepare to shell out 15-20 bucks. When coming from Las Virgenes, after you park, good luck turning left onto 2 way traffic trying to get back on pch turning left. Its a dangerous nightmare. Food options SUCK. One very bad Jack in box across the street (its already bad food, but this one is especially bad) so pack your lunches. Or spend over $100 bucks eating home food at the pier cafes for 2-3 people with high prices, service charges, taxes tips and more tips of tips. Its a very small beach area, nowhere to nestle and have a good space to yourself. The left side of the pier used to be swimmable but the rising waters have essentially wiped out that shore anything swimming related.

GREAT beach! but, such a pain in the ass to find parking in the summers. and we got here relatively early in the morning. obviously, up and down pch parking is a premium, but, man... once you do find parking, you have to take a little trek to get to the beach. plan on that if you're taking a lot of $hit or old people and babies. the water is pretty calm. lots of rocky shoreline allow for exploring as well as some stumbling. no services available beachside. there are porto potties just as you enter the beach. GREAT beach, but, you gotta be ready for a wait and a walk.

Fun day today at this beach Surfing! Waves here are awesome! The beach is pretty nice, but pretty rocky...not the best place for kids. Some of the surfers here take it really seriously and can be pretty rude. It's fun to be able to chill and chat with people but some of the people are just flat rude. Street parking is limited. I believe there is an official parking lot, but you have to pay. Just get there early the you can get a street spot. Over all, seems like the place to go in Malibu for consistent waves and great surfing. Definitely worth checking out!

Beautiful beach with excellent waves! It can get pretty crowded and aggressive so you better be ready to come here if you're going to surf. Best times are early morning so that you're more likely to get a parking spot. The beach is nice but it's shorter than the other beaches would find in Santa Monica. So again, coming early and getting your spot is definitely worth your while. You can park across the street and there is a small lot to park in as well. There is public bathrooms and a lifeguard station on the premises. You also have a beautiful view of the Malibu Pier

Everything about this place is amazing. The service the view the food. Renzo and hunter took care of us and made sure we had a good night. Would definitely recommend coming here!!!

This is supposedly a quintessential surf spot. My ex took me here in the hopes of teaching me a thing or two. I think that if you know what you're doing and are fairly proficient, you'll have fun here, but for beginners, this is not the place for you. There are people everywhere, and it's scary and difficult to maneuver around them. I'm sure I'd write a completely different review if I was an avid surfer, but this was my experience here.

I usually don't review my surf spots. Even I have limits. After all, there are enough hodads and moon doggies congesting lineups across this entire coast. But I like Yelpers, so I'll let all you in on one of my favorite secret spots... shhh... It's called Malibu. Driving down PCH you could easily miss it, what with the whole Malibu Pier and the Adamson House distracting you from her crystal waters and warm sandy beach. Ignore all the pretty people if you want to find it. They will only distract you. Once you've wrestled a parking spot out of some yuppie driving his Beamer, soft top Doyle sticking out through the sunroof, proceed past the carp wall to your destination. Just don't make eye contact with them and you'll be fine. I proudly rock my bikini 365 days a year here, but I'm tough as nails, so maybe grab a wetsuit if your one of those wimpy SoCal surfers. Suit up. Paddle out. And when your done, admire the amazing water pressure the Malibu showers have to offer. You'd never know we lived in a place prone to drought every year by the way the city is willing to spray you down with fresh water, all for free. So go, my darling Yelp children. Go and be one with one of the most secret surf spots on the planet. Just make sure to pull out when you see the bikini bombshell hanging ten down the line.

Very famous beach! Great if you're a surfer, I think the water quality is not supposed to be that great? It's close to Cross Creek, the pier, and the Malibu Inn, which is great. I'd say that if you are at the Malibu Inn, it's worth coming here because it's just across the street! (Parking is kind of a hassle- street parking and a smallish lot). It's very pretty, and there are some good places to eat around here. When you see a photo of Malibu, you probably see a photo of the pier at this beach, so definitely check it out if you're visiting! Oh, and let me explain something about my photos- I lived in neighborhood across the street from this beach for about 15 years... the photos that I took are the most beautiful I've ever seen it! You can expect it to be pretty, but my photos were a once in 15 years opportunity that I made the best of :)

The beach is small but it is a great place for surfing near the lagoon. However, the parking is rather tough so your patience during the weekend is a must. It is a great spot for kids and less crowded during the weekdays.

the Malibu wave! In between Adamson house and the pier. So pretty, great for walking, kind of too short to run though. Parking: Private lot, but surfers come early and stay all day. There's street parking too if you can't get in the lot, but I've come late in the day and found a spot in the lot so it's kind of hit or miss. I recommend using the bathroom at Adamson house because they're very nice and clean. There are bathrooms on the beach as well and showers to rinse off. Food: There's a cart with snacks, drinks (gatorade and water), and hotdogs. There's a grocery store on PCH very close- think it's a Vons. There's also a gas station with a market and a Jack n the box to hold you over, but you have to drive to those whereas the cart is right at the end of the parking lot.

A beautiful, clean beach alongside the Malibu Pier, this where the surfers hang out and enjoy the waves. I even saw a surfing mom and kid here. The place also boasts the nicest and smallest homeless encampment I've ever seen. It is up around what I'm sure are rather disgusting public restrooms. Non-surfers, a walk along this beach it still well worth the trip for you! It is beautiful and peaceful. I visited recently, I'm sure the scene is very different in the summertime. I would like to think that if I lived here, I would be the mama in that mother/child scene I witnessed on the surfboard. Street parking is available. The pier is within walking distance as is the Adamson House if you need something other than nature to explore.

This beach is super cute. You can also walk a ways down to a private beach. This is in front of private property, but you can still hang out in front of the beach houses and go swimming. There is a small parking lot for 12 bucks . I found street parking. On the way to the beach you will walk through a lagoon. How cool is that? This beach is cleaner than a lot of the beach turf in Santa Monica with less crack head factor. Lots of families and little surfer kids catching waves. Family vibe. There are porta potties but they were gross. Bring TP and a gas mask if you plan to use. There are also big rocks in the water in most of the beach front. So be aware and swim with caution. I jumped on my board and paddled out so didn't really step on anything.

This beach is pretty calm below the pier, so not a lot of surfers here and excellent for playing and swimming.

Beautiful family friendly beach. Parking is limited so get there early in the day. One of the first beaches our son got his toes wet in the ocean!

Pass on my way to Westwood; stopped by to see the swell. Nothing today 0-1. This is a great surf spot and is very popular on days with decent waves. We like to surf here on early mornings on the weekends. Right at the point, entry and exit are rocky, so unless you have decent booties, just paddle out toward the Malibu pier from the sandy beach and join the lineup and wait your turn. Some of the more experienced locals can get a little heated here so if it is crowded and nice waves, definitely wait your turn and give way per rules of surfing. Parking is free along PCH, but get here early if you want to find a spot. This morning there was a hug yacht parked off the coast just beyond the break. At times the kelp can get pretty thick here. Some of my friends use thigh leashes here to reduce the chances of the leash getting caught in the kelp. I have had some good times here. Thank you Nature.

It is not like a secret surf spot so I don't fear losing out anything by reviewing. I will add that after learning to board at La Jolla, the break here is a challenge for me. Riptides often take me where I don't want to be, so beware your first few visits. I like swimming out near the pier, mostly because it's fun to dive down and watch dolphins cruise by the outer pylons and view the waves crash on shore from their point of view. Bring plenty of water and a shade umbrella if you got one. Enjoy.

Lovely beach in Malibu, located right near the newly renovated pier. It was crowded as can be when we visited on Sunday, but it's a famous place so that's no surprise. Half of the beach is set up for swimmers and paddle boarders, the other half is for surfer's only. in addition to the ocean, this place provides some absolutely peerless people-watching... stereotypical LA housewives with oversized appendages sculpted by high-priced surgeons, gorgeous South Americans of both genders with flowing hair, families on heart-warming day trips, bros trying to pick up on blonde European women who don't know the difference between baseball and football... what more can you ask for, really?

Second favorite beach in Malibu. Proximity to my work is fantastic and I love driving by it everyday. I like to come out here early in the morning and soak up the sunrise. Great place for when it's fairly quiet, but I know is a hot spot for surfing. Parking is not the best, but the limited amount keeps it from overcrowding. Beach is clean and has amazing views. Walking distance to food as well!

This is a great family friendly beach with calm waves near the shore, but bigger breakers further out. Parking is always a challenge, but luckily there is valet parking for a nominal cost. Definitely a hotspot.

Save the lagoon from being torn apart by city...poor animals are endangered.

Love this area just shocked at how filthy the sand and roads are considering this is where the Surfrider Foundation began. Free street parking & free WiFi @ The Jack in the Box. Porta potties available in the pier parking lot free of charge. Don't be a kook & respect the locals, always leave with more than you came with aka if you see trash pick it up.

Great surf spot and so much to do around here. Surfers only! The pier is the best in the state right next to it.

The water is beautiful but the beach was pretty dirty, could barely walk without stepping on garbage/sea crap.

We spent a great day at the beach surfing with my son. He got injured his toe really bad. The lifeguard did a spectacular job taking care of it. I really appreciate it. Thank you life guard!!

An awesome place to longboard! It can get crowded at times but it is still a great place to catch some good waves.

Beautiful location, perfect wave. Surfers were chill, not much taking turns in the line-up everyone just goes for it but for the most part works out. Was here on a small day and all the longboarders were out, maybe gets more busy/competitive on a bigger day. There's showers and facilities on the beach. Only negative is parking is a B but it's worth it.

My go to spot from high school days onward to catch a nice mellow wave...the surfers are also pretty chill allowing long boarders and short to share the experience alike...recommend local and visiting surf enthusiasts to take a chance here.

It's a pretty crowded beach and not being a surfer, there are better beaches for me to lounge around. On the other hand, I had a nice, peaceful walk visiting the Adamson House and the Malibu Lagoon State Beach.

Love this secluded beach, I go here with my hubby and kids at least once a month!! Nice and not to many people, right next to PCH and about an hour drive!! Hubby purposed to me here 7 year ago!! Love this place!

Awesome Beach.. But water is cold in late September.
