My stay at the Surfsand Resort was nothing short of amazing! The surrounding area was breathtaking with beautiful wildlife. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. I especially appreciated the thoughtful amenities in the room, such as the different lighting options, the fridge with temperature control, and the cozy electric fireplace. The design of the resort was well thought out. It made my stay feel extra special and made the experience so much more cozy and relaxing. My puppy had a fantastic time as well! The rooms were incredibly quiet, allowing for peaceful relaxation. They have accessible places for them to do their business, an outdoor washing tub and doggy bag stations. The entire time I just felt like whoever designed the resort was very thoughtful. I want to extend a special thank you to Zack and Elizabeth at the front desk for their impeccable service and for making my stay truly memorable. I can't wait to return to the Surfsand Resort in the future!

We came here in the middle of Winter and happened to hit the weather perfectly. Beautiful sunshine, slightly breezy, not the typical weather you’d expect in the winter. People were out everywhere from downtown to all over the beach. The resort is right along the edge of the beach. There is access on each side of the resort to be able to get down to the beach. They have a pet wash station and an area to rinse off your feet with warm water. We were greeted at the front desk by two very friendly and helpful staff members. They were able to quickly process our reservation and get us the key to our room. We ended up in a beach front condo/room. The room was very nice with a large bathroom and a nice front room sitting area. The bedroom was positioned in the back tucked away just behind the side entrance. The bedroom was small, but fine for us as we preferred being outside in the beautiful sunshine. The tides lined up with timing, being low tide with plenty of daylight to explore the tide pools and Haystack Rock. Overall it was an amazing weekend at a very nice beach resort.

Our stay here was incredible despite the snow and our trip being cut short. Our room was very cozy with an exceptional view of haystack rock. The front desk staff was awesome!! Definitely recommend this place for your stay in cannon beach! We will definitely return when weather is better.

Our room was located in the Lighthouse building and had a great ocean view, with the Haystack off in the distance. The staff was friendly, cookies, drinks, and popcorn were a welcomed treat after a day of travel. The room was excellent, including special nighttime lighting, a beautiful bathroom with a soaking tub, a luxurious rain shower, and a small balcony with Adirondack chairs. The fireplace added ambiance and heat if desired.|The restaurant was also excellent.|We were only there one night and didn't bother the staff when our TV channels were not working well. |When we checked out we were given water for the road.|Excellent place and we plan to return!

We’ve been coming here for years and it’s always great. This was a last minute booking and we booked a partial view room in the same building as the office. We were blown away by the updated decor, electric fireplace, nice kitchen area, and especially the large tub and shower. Beautiful tile and artwork in the room. Our view of haystack was awesome too. Friendly staff, yummy cookies, and free beer, what’s not to love?

We loved this resort right on the beach with the best view of Haystack Rock! You could see the lighthouse too. Easy to get to the beach from this building. There were always chairs too. Parking is reserved and we never had an issue finding a spot when we returned. Front desk staff was always kind and helpful... and don't miss those cookies at 3:30 p.m.||We had an upper floor beachfront room with a balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Just lovely to sit outside and watch the sunset with a glass of wine. ||The room itself had a living area with sofa, small dining table and 2 chairs, a mini-frig and microwave. The balcony had a small table and 2 chairs. There is some privacy when on the balcony with a partition - we never felt as if we were intruding on our neighbors. The bathroom was modern and updated and kept very clean. ||It's easy to walk into Cannon Beach for dining and shops. Highly recommend!

Stayed one night at the one bedroom oceanfront suite, and it was definitely the highlight of my short trip to Oregon. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious, and had cool and unique additions such as an electronic fireplace and a starlight projector that really added to the serene vibes. My room was oceanfront and although the giant rock wasn't very visible as there is another inn that kind of protrudes out, I did have an awesome view of the ocean. But mainly kudos to the entire staff at the Surfsand Resort. Everyone I met from check in to check out (front desk, housekeeping, person handing out popcorn/cookies), was exceptionally kind and attentive. I highly recommend this resort and will definitely be returning next time with family.

While staying in Courtyard in we noticed the construction of this new Hotel or addition for it. So I decided to surprise my family and book a weekend here. It was more I wanted to pay, however the rooms and facilities being new made up for it. Also if you have kids with an indoor pool is great to get the energy out of them so the rest well at night. While you and lovely spouse share a bottle of wine with some food. View was great as well. But again it is more on the upscale when it comes to the budget.

Yelp
Okay so obviously this place is gorgeous. It's expensive. It's the coast right? And my guy was insistent on me getting the full experience, which included a beachfront patio. Not gonna lie, it was gorgeous. He definitely spoiled me taking me here. I didn't want to leave. Between the comfy AF bed, gorgeous views and lack of care for ANYTHING, I was DESPERATE for a vacation and two days wasn't enough but it was enough to get my head straight. I never noticed UNTIL my stay here, how POOR hotels do at storage. One dresser usually and a closet. This was like the Home Edit came in and said STORAGE here!! And HERE!! And THERE!!! With magic wands! Storage is EVERYWHERE. Next to the front door, your closet with PLENTY of hangars. And the lovely robes. Which we honestly spent most of Saturday in lol Then you've got a coat rack, bench for sitting to put on your shoes and three HUGE drawers beneath the bench for storage. (shoes went in there...and I went barefoot for the first time EVER at a hotel...and had clean feet AND clean white socks!) Then at the "bar" we have a small cabinet that held our snacks and the mini fridge/wine cooler for our cold items. Above is the microwave, silverware and cups/glasses etc. THEN next to the TV: a HUGE cabinet with shelves AND drawers!! Storage everywhere!! I realize not many people will get excited about storage but y'all they already have a 5 star review average. I had to give you something NEW!!! The property is GORGEOUS. Rooms are so beautiful and CLEAN!!! And the staff is amazing. Literally zero complaints except that I wish I could afford to LIVE here. lol

Yelp
I don't know, this might just be the nicest motel I've ever stayed at! Our room was clean and new looking. We got one of the non-view rooms, to save $$. Our bill was $358 for one night, 2 adults. Wait til you see my photos, we got the most amazing non-view of the Haystack, right in our face! The beach is about 2 minutes from our room. Our room had a refrigerator, fireplace, nice TV options and big TV. Check my photos of the room... It's small, but looks very nice. The deck out our front door puts you right there watching the waves. Room Service is available... Cookies in the lobby at 3:30pm, a major event. Many nice touches, this place is a... Hit.

Yelp
I had the privilege to stay and play at the Surfsand Resort and it was amazing! The rooms are awesome, the staff are warm and inviting, and the food/Chef at the restaurant are worthy of awards. I love that the resort is dog friendly and includes bathing facilities to clean up after a run on the beach! I can not recommend the Surfsand Resort enough and cant wait for my next visit.

Jodie S.

Yelp
Proximity to Haystack was great, comfy beds, indoor pool and hot tub were nice! Bathroom beautiful and roomy. Reservation said "fireplace", the website says "digital fireplace"- where I'm from this is really called a "fake fireplace". Hard floors. Unsure if I would stay here again. Staff friendly and helpful!

John G.

Yelp
One of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. The room was amazing with so many comforts, a ridiculously sized bathroom, electric fireplaces, and even a light and sound machine we fell asleep to. Things the place to stay in Cannon Beach! Did I mention it is less than 100 yards to cannon Beach and has views of Haystack Rock?

Michael W.

Yelp
Room is great and front desk was very helpful. Located in a convenient location. Very normal hotel as compared to the neighborhood. No parking. Has to find and pay for your own parking.

Stephen K.

Yelp
Surfsand Resort was a stop on a current road trip from Seattle to San Francisco. Unfortunately we only spent 1 night. Our room had a perfect view of the Haystack. The location is right on the beach, cookies were still available when we checked in, beer or root beer was offered to us upon checking in to our room. Our room was clean, fireplace was nice to have on a cool evening, large television in the living area and bedroom. The front desk staff were very personable at arrival and departure.

Yelp
It makes me so sad to write this review. My family and I have stayed at this hotel multiple times a year for 7 or 8 years now and never had a complaint until the hotel recently was acquired by a larger chain. Pros: 1. Location. Right on the beach with fantastic views of Haystack rock. Within walking distance to several restaurants and coffee shops, a convenience store, and bike rentals. Within walking distance to downtown as well. 2. Dog friendly rooms available. 3. As advertised, they do have warm cookies at 3 if you're around to enjoy those, they offer complimentary bottles of local beer or root beer when you check in, and during the summer they have a free "community" bonfires in the evening with make-your-own s'mores. 4. My favorite new feature is the motion-sensored nightlight that comes on if you get up in the middle of the night to get a drink or use the restroom. It's the perfect amount of soft light. Con's: 1. Everything just feels different since they were bought out - and this has nothing to do with the renovation underway. 2. We visited twice in March and no longer received the little welcome treat with taffy and a hand-written note either time. 3. The guest rooms have been updated and look newer, but they aren't necessarily better. In fact, the 2 rooms we stayed in both felt significantly smaller. The king studio had the tiniest of tables, just large enough to hold a lamp - so the one evening we ordered room service, we had to eat our dinner on the bed. There's also a window by the door with no blinds that you can see out of from the toilet. The second time we stayed in a king suite. It had a table but the bedrooms no longer have a little window to enjoy fresh air, let any light in, or listen to the waves. Instead, the entire wall behind the bed is planks of wood. It just looks peculiar. There's also so much wasted space in the rooms; it just doesn't make sense. 4. Despite being in newly renovated rooms, both were really dusty, from the towel racks to the floor. 5. The glass showers are nice but the floors looked messy and partially incomplete despite them telling us it was finished. 6. They still advertise Aveda spa products in the rooms but they had this Lather brand the last 2 times we were there. On their own, none of these things are deal breakers, and maybe not even things you'd notice if you haven't stayed there before. However, it's definitely not the same Surfsand and it's disappointing. We agreed we will be looking for different accommodations on future trips. Not necessarily bad, just no longer special.

Yelp
Located right on the beach and only half a mile walk from Haystack Rock! Really enjoyed our spring break here, despite torrential rain and wind we got for part of our visit. Easy access to the beach, and close enough to walk to all the shops and restaurants in Cannon Beach. Room was spacious with a fireplace and deck, and bathroom had a huge tub for a warm soak. Also appreciated the Aveda bath products, that was a step up from normal hotel shampoo. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. My only gripe is our room was right by the elevator so we could hear the pinging at night. And your neighbor's door is so close you will definitely hear every single time they go in and out.

Yelp
This was picked by our son, for they've spend some time here. The certificate was about to expire, so hubby and I decided to get away, for my 70th birthday. It was the day, it started to snow in Portland, heading up to Longview, avoiding the highway 26 where some winter advisory begins. But snow greeted us, as we try to leave town, and it got worst by Longview. Astoria, Seaside, Cannon Beach: the weather was still clear, until the next day! Our room, we were welcomed by a seagull, that's probably been here before, and expecting us to feed him. We didn't have any, but by morning, he lingers on, and staring at me, then by breakfast, he kept watched over me, I realized: that must have been MOM. After my dad died, mom wanted to come to the beach with us, but she said the next year she will come, then she got too sick, that she never made it to the beach. Since today was my birthday, she came to visit me, to wish me HB, and so we started giving HER snacks, and we even have a name for the seagull: ALPIA. Bonus points: The fireplace, made the room so real. The room was cozy, warm, inviting! The view awesome! Double peep-hole on the door. I can tell, they're thinking of shorter customers, like me. You did well! The bed, & pillows, just perfect. What can I say? I also like the fact, we can rinse our boots, from the pet warm faucet. Only negatives: the toilet flusher, hold it then it will flush. Microwave was wobbly, legs not balance. I have to use a claw clip, to keep the drapes 100% closed (I don't like to see dark ocean). The sink plunger, is hard to operate. Also, the heater blows right in my face, while watching TV/sitting on the dining area. (see photo, how I solved that problem). If it's not the seagull, I wouldn't want to leave, specially weather advisory is heading our way. We planned to leave at 11:59am. By the time we get to PDX, it will almost melted away! 2-23-23 I shall never FORGET!

Yelp
The Surfsand is a nice hotel with great views of Haystack rock, Cannon beach and the gorgeous Pacific. It is also dog friendly. Our room was oceanfront on the ground floor. We couldn't see the beach/ ocean from inside the room but once you walked outside and onto the grassy patio, the view was fantastic. Unfortunately everyone else on the ground floor can walk by the room to access the beach which makes it a lot less private. There are a few nice amenities including a free beer at check-in, warm cookies in the lobby at 3:30p every day and a bonfire and s'mores on the beach during the summer months. If we were to come here again, we would definitely choose a higher floor room but overall it is a nice stay in newly renovated rooms. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as well.

Yelp
So much to love about this hotel!! The hotel was clean, lovely, lots of extras, perfect location, dog-friendly while ensuring other guests were not disturbed by the dogs, Loved the renovations, great staff--wonderful stay! We'd stayed here once before and it was good, but the room was a little tired-looking. But we loved that it was right on the ocean with views of the iconic Haystack Rock. Great extras like yummy cookies, smores on the beach, beer/wine-tasting and more. We went back this year because we have a dog and this hotel told us they are dog-friendly with reasonable guidelines about good dog behavior. Here's what we loved about this hotel, in addition to those wonderful extras mentioned above-- Check-in--lovely, friendly staff. Very welcoming to us and our pet. Rooms--jaw-dropping change from the last visit. Wow! Lovely suite with a view of Haystack Rock, completely modernized and spacious, double sinks in bathroom, modern shower, tile floors, outlets and USB ports galore, a non-fire fireplace that heated the room perfectly, a large deck with a heater--I could go on and on, but it was perfect. Dog-friendly. In our room was a dog bowl, ball, little kerchief, doggie treats, and towels to wipe off her feet. We rarely heard other dogs bark. Outside there was a patch of AstroTurf for dogs to do their business with bags and a trash can and dogs were welcome there as long as they were leashed.

Yelp
New renovations-sneak peek I was able to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms. It was an ocean view, king with a separate living space. The views of haystack rock were gorgeous. They have ripped out any carpets and used tiles. The artwork is spectacular. There are three TVs. One is in the living space over a faux fireplace. There is one in the bathroom. There is another TV on the wall of the bedroom. The bathroom had two sinks, a soaking tub and a showerhead with a separate rain wand. The new tiles in the bathroom represent stone. There is a refrigerator, a bar sink, a Keurig, coffee maker, and a microwave. The pantry is stocked with plates, coffee, mugs, and wine glasses for four. The cabinets are now whisper closing. They have cleverly designed the base of the bed as storage. There are plenty of outlets. They have USB ports embedded into the nightstands. There was a table with two chairs and a couch that would sit three people. There were four Adirondack deck chairs. There was plenty of light. The heating system was updated. It is now on the ceiling as opposed to the side of the wall. I've always been impressed by the front desk staff. There was a bit of a kerfuffle with the people in front of me for check-in. They were unaware that the property is under construction. The website is extremely transparent about the construction and it's impact on its guests. Check-in has moved from its beautiful lobby to a small hotel room. It was a minor inconvenience, balanced by the 20% off they have on their website. Make sure to take advantage of the 3 o'clock warm cookies, the Friday, beer, tastings, and the ice cream social. I highly recommend this resort. If it is too cold to swim in the ocean, they have a heated pool and a very large hot tub.

Karrin S.

Yelp
Surfsand is a fantastic, family friendly hotel overlooking Haystack in Cannon Beach. When we arrived we were greeted by the Manager who offered a cold beverage at check-in to the adults and locally made root beer to our kiddos. The rooms have all been remodeled this year, and have excellent touches such as a rainshower and jacuzzi bathtub. Additionally, included in the stay are warm cookies daily, bikes available to use for the family, the nightly beach s'mores, ice cream sundaes and more. The location is great as it is walkable to town, restaurants and coffee. Side note - check out Anna's Table down the street. Ecola State park is only a mile away and we were able to see the sites from the Goonie's. We can't wait to come back.

Yelp
I finally talked to my bank about my experience and they are going to try to get my money back because I have never received a response from anyone that I wrote to and they billed me $500+ for one miserable night

Yelp
Such an amazing weekend! I've been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. Great Customer service these days is almost impossible to find. This is the best service and hotel stay I've had in years!!! Location is perfect, views are spectacular! The staff truly went above and beyond every day. While I didn't get everyone's name, Elisabeth and Frederick were just wonderful! Welcome drinks, fresh cookies daily, clean rooms and staff that actually cares!! We will absolutely be back. Only thing is as expected there's noise from upstairs guests so I would suggest booking way in advance and ask for top floor! We had a king suite with ocean view- gorgeous!

Mari E.

Yelp
Modern chic decor, comfortable bed, and breathtakingly beautiful view of the ocean right from our balcony! We loved our stay in one of the newly renovated rooms. (and the warm chocolate chip cookies were a delicious treat)

Anna S.

Yelp
Can't wait for my next visit! Zack at the front desk was amazing - he welcomed us warmly once we inquired for a room day-of. He made sure to walk us through the many, state-of-the-art amenities and provide plenty of dinner and breakfast recommendations. The rooms are clean, airy, and extremely comfortable. Ours included a fireplace, large tub (additionally to the spacious shower), and a fully stocked coffee station. The pool, sauna, and gym are cozy and clean. Extremely nice-to-have on site. Another bonus is that place is extremely dog-friendly. The highlight of our trip was the complementary private beach-front sunset bonfire, inclusive of a s'mores kit and stunning views of Haystack rock.

Shelley B.

Yelp
We Love Surf Sand Resort. I want to say we have stayed here at least once a year for upwards of 10+ years. We stayed one night this past week on a whim, with our two dogs. I knew something was up when I called for a reservation and was asked 'have you ever stayed with us before?' I googled and sure enough, the Hotel was sold last year. It is still the most wonderful place to stay in Cannon Beach, especially if you have a dog or dogs with you. The location is absolutely remarkable. The staff is always accommodating and friendly. Fresh baked cookies in the lobby every day at 3:30. Free S'mores on the beach and a bon fire every night. Coffee and coffee maker, mini frig and microwave in the room. Comfy mattresses and sheets that feel like butter. The selfish part of me really missed the personalized note and taffy candies for return guests. No more dog bowls, beds or dog treats for those of us with pets. Those personal touches mean a lot to us return guests. But we'll get over it lol. Must be some cost cutting going on. The room was very clean. I believe the carpet was new and it was freshly painted. However, the new wood railings on the deck have a gap in the bottom that would allow some pets and small children to fall through and presented a safety issue for me with one of my dogs. We were on the third floor. I stressed a lot about that and I hope they do something to fix that issue. Surf Sand

Randi S.

Yelp
We have stayed at and recommended SurfSand in Cannon Beach many times over the last 25 years. They have nice rooms, awesome views of the ocean and haystack rock, fun activities, an amazing Restaurant (Wayfarer) and the Guest services has always been very nice. I have to compliment Lily at Guest services for her patient, kind help last month. She was wonderful. Thank you for everything. Randi S

Teri H.

Yelp
First I would like to say the location and check in staff were fantastic. All the special touches such as free beer, cookies, s'mores etc are nice. The room and view were great. What was not good were housekeeping issues. We booked with points but this room rate was $470/night. As you can see from the photos, the tub had sand in it & was not cleaned, there was an old blood spot on the mattress pad exposed when the fitted sheet corner came loose and we had to go to laundry to get wash cloths the second day. All that is unacceptable, especially when paying this much. My husband communicated these issues at check out. Front desk just said "oh!"

D F.

Yelp
This is about as good as it gets. Absolutely love this place. We got one of the bottom floor rooms facing the ocean and I couldn't be any happier to wake up, walk a couple feet, and be on the beach Check in was a breeze, the staff was friendly, and the room was almost flawless! My fireplace wasn't working on arrival so I went out for a walk and viola! It was promptly fixed. Room had everything you really need. My only recommendation is I wish the TV articulated out from the wall so we can watch TV in bed instead of having to sit on the couch Walking distance to stores and restaurants, firepits on the beach, clean room, friendly staff, unparalleled views....what more are you waiting for?

Lainie Y.

Yelp
Beautiful resort right on the ocean- within walking to Haystack rock- amazing views and beautiful rooms with special touches. LOVE the renovation!

Zelda H.

Yelp
We treated ourselves to a pre holiday getaway. The Surfsand was everything I wanted in an oceanfront hotel. We had a great view, the bed was comfy, the soaking tub was a delight, and the fireplace made the room even better. The only complaint I have is that the door needed weatherstripping. The night was very windy and there was a cold draft coming from the door. I will absolutely saty here again

Natalia K.

Yelp
Just had an excellent stay here with my family, ages 8-60s, and everyone had a great time. Highlights: -free craft rootbeers at check in (I believe they offer beer, but we don't drink alcohol) -amazing ocean views -hot chocolate chip and Heath bar cookies at 3:30pm in the lobby -complementary local salt water taffy, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and apple cider in the lobby -very dog friendly! We didn't bring our Golden, but next time would love too. -nightly bonfire with s'mores for hotel guests -free beach chairs for hotel guests -indoor poor and hot tub -great location on the beach right across from Haystack Rock -soft fluffy towels -Aveda shampoo, conditioner, etc. We will definitely return!

Violet N.

Yelp
We had a lovely time!! So glad we cancelled our reservations in Portland to go to cannon beach as we felt super unsafe. This resort was really clean. There weren't any druggies aka homeless there to rob you and steal from you. I was able to unwind from the horror show that is Portland. The front desk (Zach in particular) was so helpful. He showed us where to eat and things to do. I especially LOVED the fire and s'mores on the beach. Also the homemade cookies were lovely. I will for sure comeback and avoid Portland like the plague.

Yelp
I have stayed at this property multiple times over the years. I have never written a review of this property until now because I was generally satisfied with the service. Now, I have a bone to pick because I DID NOT get any rest on this visit. I was placed next to a family with both younger and older children. The first night they were bouncing off the walls and the beds (I based this on the level of noise) - tons of yelling, banging, jumping. The next night was slightly better, until an older child started screaming on the balcony. It was a real banshee-screaming-into-the-ocean kind of scream. So I yelled back softly - Jeeezuuusss. That doesn't even account for the constant in and out through their door that went on each day. The front desk did not care, nor did they offer me an alternative. I wanted to stay on the 3rd floor to begin with, but no - none of the third floor rooms were available when I showed up. So instead I got a dirty room next to an extremely boisterous, seemingly large family, which allowed me little rest. Instead, I took notes about the condition of the unit. 1. Time has not been good to these units on the ocean Anything that can rust will rust and that is definitely happening in these units. This includes bathroom chrome/metal surfaces, and any other exposed metal in the unit. I did not set out to find the rust - it found me. This was the worst: I looked inside one of the garbage containers (without the plastic liner) and found so much rust that the bottom of the container was ready to fall out. Sharp rusty edges were exposed on the underside of the container. It was also pretty dirty so I wiped it down on the outside (it has faux leather on the outside, and it was spotted with drips and dirt). 2. Dusty Dusty Dusty These rooms have large comfy mattresses in the bedrooms, which I love!! Too bad I couldn't sleep in the room. The bedroom had significant dust. A large amount of dust laid over the edge of the blinds, which laid over the head of the bed. It was thick enough that I DID NOT WANT to run my fingers along the top of the mounting bracket - it was that obvious. This piqued my interest, so I snooped around some more. There was standing dust on the sill as well as dust on the headboard. There was dust behind the door (literally hanging off the back of the door). There were cobwebs above the door, so I knew that this corner was being totally neglected, and most likely the room had not been properly cleaned for sometime. This problem existed elsewhere - the dusting behind TVs was almost non-existence (bedroom and LR TVs). You could see where someone had attempted to wipe the back, but never actually tried to dust the entire back of the TV. Dust was hanging from the cords and the mounts. (I was too afraid to check the bathroom TV). I did not dust any surfaces, btw - I had to draw the line somewhere. Even the toilet had dust behind it. 3. Heating Run Amok These units have very old thermometers - probably 20 years old. They are plastic and now appear brittle and yellow. The one in the bedroom ran constantly (another reason I couldn't sleep in this room). The cleaning staff had left the window open above the bed (which I discovered much later, along with the dust), and the heat was never shutting off as a result. I had to go into the room repeatedly to try to turn off the heater. The open window meant that this heater never stopped running, even though I repeatedly pushed the knob into the off position. Ultimately, I had to close off the room and sleep on the hideaway bed in the LR - no soft comfy bed for me. 4. Water Supply for Keurig Coffeemaker (so simple, but yet it's not) I was given four (4) Aquafina water bottles to use while I was in the unit. I had additional water of my own, just in case. I don't know how old these water bottles were, but the bottom of the bottles were warped so that the bottles did not sit flat on a surface (something I realized later). So here I am, trying to make coffee, opening a water bottle on a horizontal surface, and as soon as I open it the bottle it falls over. Water cascades down over the microwave, refrigerator, cabinets, and floor. I did this at least twice before I figured out that the water bottles were the problem. The bottoms were BULGING and would not sit flat on the counter. I don't know if they bought a container full of Aquafina at some point and stashed it away, but I think the water damage will cost much more in the long run. I seriously doubt I am the only person who has had this problem. Stupid There's more I could say, but even Yelp has its limits. These units have not been well cared for and it is very sad. Parting shot - get rid of those old round (chrome?) desk lamps that don't work properly and present a safety hazard. They keep trying to use these lamps despite their problems - mine had tape on the bottom of it covering the wiring. They must be trying to rewire these decrepit lamps.

Yelp
Not the cheapest place to stay, but the location can't be beat. Rooms are set up a bit strangely but nicely appointed, splurge on a beachfront room if you can and you won't be disappointed. Even if you're not directly on the beachfront, it's a quick and easy walk out onto the beach and you can bring your own chairs to hang out or attend the evening bonfire from approximately 6-9pm. You're about a half mile to Haystack Rock, so make sure you note the low tide times and you'll find some tide pools and a lot of bird & ocean life close by especially if the tide is very low and you can go pretty much all the way out to Haystack Rock. A great choice in Cannon Beach, I hope to be back.

Yelp
Another excellent experience at Surfsand, specifically Zach! I had reserved a room at another place, won't do that again...Surfsand or nowhere, and that lodging was completely unacceptable. I left, shaken, because I was extremely tired and didn't know if I'd find another room. My evening completely changed when I walked up to the front desk and met Zack. My budget allowed a non-view room, which I'm sure are wonderful, but for the 2nd time, I was upgraded to a full oceanfront room! They did the same thing on my 60th birthday, per that review. When I walked into my room, last week, I was beyond impressed, and forever grateful. I'll see you again in February!

Yelp
We have been looking at staying at Surfsand for the last year or so. We finally stayed the Thursday through Saturday of Presidents Weekend. Originally, we were slated to have a top floor room with ocean views. The Wednesday before, the room we were booked into had "maintenance issues" and they offered us an "upgrade to a suite". The hotel is not cheap. The "suite" was a parking lot level room (which we were told about). The bedroom was a cave that backed up to the parking lot. The living room had a nice view of the ocean and the side of the building next to us. Not of Haystack Rock like we originally had booked. The first night was fine, quiet until people started moving about in the morning and your head is up against the wall/parking lot. The second afternoon and evening was stupid. A family with three children were booked into the room above us. When we first heard them, we thought there was someone fighting up there. Called the front desk on our way to dinner to ask them to deal with it. When we returned, the noise was still there, stomping and jumping. It was about 8:15/8:30. I politely went up to ask them to quiet down, which they did, but the adult showed up at the door with a 2-3 year old pretending like she could not make that much noise. Magically after that, things were quiet until about 745am. Upon checkout the woman behind the counter was deferential to the fact that "it's presidents weekend and we are pet and family friendly". And was rather rude about it suggesting we stay somewhere else next time. This hotel is not cheap. They have rooms set aside for pets, maybe they should consider that for kids or at least have a policy about not having them above people or a policy around ensuring all guests enjoy the amenities. I don't know if we will be returning.

Yelp
Friendly staff!! Beautiful rooms with a fireplace! And the fresh baked cookies are delicious! I was pleasantly surprised to receive 2 cans of beer from local breweries upon check in! I needed that after my drive. Pet friendly. Comfy beds- I can go on and on! I plan on visiting again and will most definitely stay again!

Yelp
My family has been coming here for over 8 years. the new owners took over and the staff has gone down hill. The night manager should be fired for being down right rude. My family lives here and everyone who use to work here knew them. When I reserved the room I said I specifically did not want to be in one location. I was told I would not be there. Well surprise I am here in those rooms. I was told I can listen to the recording of when you made the reservation. Thats the best customer service I have ever had for over 1,200 foe 3 nights. Time to let the word out this place has gone down hill.

Yelp
Reserved panoramic ocean view room and got a view of the building next to us. $1000 for 3 nights, see pictures and judge for yourself. Room was filthy, had a very strong odor of air freshener that was overwhelming and the tv didn't work because it wasn't "updated". A gross, frustrating waste of time. Checked out and went to the Ocean Lodge which was beyond amazing in every way. Also Andrew at the front desk is rude, condescending and does not care if guests are happy at all. He needs to be in the back room folding sheets, not dealing with guests.

Yelp
Love love loved this resort! So much attention to detail and great location! Upon check-in, we were greeted with cold milk and warm cookies and I appreciate the list of available restaurants open during covid. Made dining-out (orrr I guess in? Haha) way easier. The room itself was perfect: balcony overlooking the beach, free local made root beer, nice bathtub, and Aveda bath products! They're very doggo friendly and go out of their way to cater to dogs-dog blanket, placemat, dog bowls, free treats and doggie bags. Wonderful place, overall and would definitely stay again!

Yelp
Upon arriving we had to wait because our room wasn't ready so we went into town. It was pouring down rain but we did manage to find a couple fun places and went to a winetasting. Then about 416 we got a call saying that her room is ready. We got checked into a lovely room that had a fireplace and was on the first floor. They offered free DVDs and popcorn and that came in handy for such a rainy day. The next day we checked out of the room and waited for our upgraded room to become available. I wanted to get a room that had Oceanview. I have to admit that the next room we move to definitely had the view we had a little balcony on the side or bedroom eyes and then the bigger balcony that faces the ocean and it had a spectacular view. The complaint I have is that the people above us in the first room or a little noisy but when we move to our new room for some reason I don't know why, but they booked in a family that had two young kids. I'm not really sure why they would book a family on the top floor with two young kids that would make a fair amount of noise. The dad also thought it would be cool to open up the window and feed the seagulls. I don't know if you've ever heard squawking seagulls and how loud they are on the rooftop but that was extremely annoying. All in all we love the location walking distance to town. Wayfarer restaurant was there at that location that was very good and easy access to the beach. All in all we WOULD definitely go back there to stay.

Yelp
The place is wonderful! They've taken great care during COVID, down to setting reservation times for pool use. Staff is very welcoming, room is great and the view from the Beachfront building is perfect. The amenities are nice, and we couldn't believe how much they spoiled our pup. He had his own welcome kit upon arrival. Definitely will be back and would definitely recommend

Yelp
Pretty nice hotel. A bit worn down in the various corridors, but the room was clean and nice. Views are REALLY good, but you pay a premium. We paid around $350 for one night, and that didn't include breakfast. Pool is really nice and so is the hot tub. Decently sized and can be used without being awkward. Jets are a bit crazy, but loud and powerful to give a bit of white noise so you can't hear other people's conversations well which is an inadvertently nice touch lol. My main complaint is just that the food scene in Cannon beach is awful. Only super expensive fancy food. The pelican brewing place is good though for lunch, but everything else is super overpriced and there isn't much to do when the sun goes down and beach time is over. Coffee options in the area are also very meager. All the lattes are super weak with no flavor. Overall, fun hotel, amazing beach, but the town's overpriced crappy food scene and meager entertainment options are a let down.

Yelp
I can't say the nicest things about this place after having a nightmarish stay at a hotel the night before. I can't believe that this hotel was only $100 more than the nasty place we stayed at for $100 less in Seaside. Upon arrival they had a welcome bag of saltwater taffy for the kids. They also offered a sand bucket and pail and shovel for the kids to keep. Complimentary chilled Aquafina bottles, daily fresh baked cookies, and excellent service. We tried regular chocolate chip, white chocolate macadamia nut and a lemon cookies with white chocolate. The smart TVs were easily connected to our iPhones. We were able to cast, sign into my Netflix, and Hulu accounts. The Wi-Fi was a little iffy. However there was an option to upgrade your Wi-Fi connectivity for about $15 per stay. The place was immaculately clean! I always bring disinfecting wipes with me to every hotel that I stay at. This place didn't have a watermark on any table top! I was so impressed! I loved how close the entrance to the beach was from our more economical building. There was a public access from the main parking lot and also a private access with partially shaded sand which my kids appreciated during the midday heat. We used the pet heated shower to kind of wash off our feet and shoes on the way back to our room. The front office staff was so helpful. Whenever we called them, even my 13-year-old son who was a little anxious about calling, always received excellent service. We rented "The Goonies" DVD on the first night and we received two packs of popcorn to pop in our microwave in our room. Will be back. Money well spent!

Yelp
We visit Surfsand every November, and our stay is always fantastic. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Of course, you can't beat the location and views. It truly is a magical place.

Yelp
Fantastic all around. We splurged on a beach front room and it was worth it. Peace and serenity all around. We did our own personal bonfire and the community one, both were great and a fun way to wind down the evening. Beds were heavenly. All the staff were accommodating and friendly, really trying to make your experience the best.

Yelp
This is a pet friendly place n they take great care of the furry guest. But they also have pure rooms(Not pet friendly rooms). They keep their resort very clean. Not once I saw any pee or accidents from the furry guest. For me that says "we care" from the surfsand team. I have severe allergies to pet dander n I had no issues whatsoever in this place. The room I stayed was very clean and comfortable. Also their sound proofing is great. I only heard the housekeeper once, when she announced herself (and that was because I had my window open, but unlike other places I didn't hear her clean the other room at all) it it's great if you wish to sleep in.

Yelp
Overall I would not stay here again. Staff- 5; from reservations to checkout the staff were incredible. Room- 2; Suite 1410 - run down, not clean, mold in shower, toilet loose from floor, cheap polyester microfiber sheets, old tub which did not allow for full body soaking, carpet shredding at the seams. Amenities- 5; complimentary shuttle, cookies, & ice cream were awesome! View- 5; gorgeous beach view Ambiance- 1; Very loud place to stay. Doors slammed shut all hours of the night. People smoking off the balconies. Cobwebs by the lights. Parking lot is very cramped. Chlorine smell from the pool very overpowering. For this to be branded as a luxury resort is quite a stretch. For the price they demand, I hoped for a clean room in good repair. The cheap microfiber sheets were awful.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to stay in Cannon Beach. It is NOT inexpensive, but it's worth it IMHO. The staff here is amazing. They are all friendly, say hello as you pass, make an effort to remember you - and if you've stayed here before, there's usually a handwritten note welcoming you back. There's always something free going on: cookies, coffee, beer tasting (Public Coast Brewery rocks!) There's coffee/tea/hot chocolate in your room (Sleepy Monk!), as well as a microwave, fridge, and large TV screens. Every room I've stayed in has also had a gas fireplace. There is also a large pool, workout/exercise room and sauna - all impeccably clean and well-kept. You can buy wood/smores for a bonfire at night, and they meet you on the beach with everything you need (and even the guy building your bonfire is super-nice). There is also an on-site spa, for massages/treatments. The beds are all memory foam, on the firm side, but still - you'll sink in and be super comfortable. The linens and towels are super-soft and high-end. The rooms range from studios, to two-bedrooms, all feeling luxurious. But again, the staff - really, they are all amazing! They make my day from the time I check in, to the time we check out!

Yelp
I absolutely wish Surfsand Resort was simply closer to my home. I wish I could visit more often. The rooms are mostly impeccable and ohhhh so comfortable. We stayed in a waterfront king room. The service should be gold standard for other resorts. The wonderful front desk staff provided us with a warm smile, entertaining conversation and a community Beach Bon Fire along with marshmallows, Hershey Bars and graham crackers. In addition, the staff recommended a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant and then they provided us with complimentary popcorn, movies and board games for our family. Just wonderful!

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights. It is a very convenient location and right off Cannon Beach. The views and easy access around shops and restaurants was nice. The rooms are just okay and not worth the price in my opinion. No maid service and when I called to let them know they put the blame on us. We will be back to beautiful Cannon Beach but will be staying elsewhere!

Yelp
We just checked in a love it! Super friendly staff, spectacular view, high quality resort. Dog friendly !

Yelp
Amazing! From the view to the cookies and beer to the bonfire on the beach! My room was complete with a jacuzzi tub and a fire place! I flew across country to add this location to my trip and I am so happy I chose this resort . Worth every penny and the price was reasonable

Yelp
Probably one of the best resorts I have stayed at. The staff are super friendly, and go the extra mile to make you, and your puppy feel super welcome. It's really close to the beach, like less than a one minute walk, and right by the stunning rock. Would recommend highly to anyone who wants a great stay and a beautiful place.
