This was picked by our son, for they've spend some time here. The certificate was about to expire, so hubby and I decided to get away, for my 70th birthday.
It was the day, it started to snow in Portland, heading up to Longview, avoiding the highway 26 where some winter advisory begins. But snow greeted us, as we try to leave town, and it got worst by Longview. Astoria, Seaside, Cannon Beach: the weather was still clear, until the next day!
Our room, we were welcomed by a seagull, that's probably been here before, and expecting us to feed him. We didn't have any, but by morning, he lingers on, and staring at me, then by breakfast, he kept watched over me, I realized: that must have been MOM. After my dad died, mom wanted to come to the beach with us, but she said the next year she will come, then she got too sick, that she never made it to the beach. Since today was my birthday, she came to visit me, to wish me HB, and so we started giving HER snacks, and we even have a name for the seagull: ALPIA.
Bonus points: The fireplace, made the room so real. The room was cozy, warm, inviting! The view awesome! Double peep-hole on the door. I can tell, they're thinking of shorter customers, like me. You did well! The bed, & pillows, just perfect. What can I say? I also like the fact, we can rinse our boots, from the pet warm faucet.
Only negatives: the toilet flusher, hold it then it will flush. Microwave was wobbly, legs not balance. I have to use a claw clip, to keep the drapes 100% closed (I don't like to see dark ocean). The sink plunger, is hard to operate. Also, the heater blows right in my face, while watching TV/sitting on the dining area. (see photo, how I solved that problem).
If it's not the seagull, I wouldn't want to leave, specially weather advisory is heading our way. We planned to leave at 11:59am. By the time we get to PDX, it will almost melted away!
2-23-23 I shall never FORGET!
