Beautiful beach, clean and so walkable. Few fishing for blue fish. Cute Nantucket homes setting. Beautiful , soft sand. Crashing waves. Nice to stick toes in. Even in late October! Glad we never missed this. When you walk back up from surface… all the roads lead to Nonantum ( so your cab knows where to pick you up at.

Great beach !!! Not crowded even on a sunny summer day. There is a bike route all the way to the beach and plenty of bike rack space.

Yelp
SURFSIDE BEACH is amazing. First of all, it's beautiful. Look at all that sea grass! Second of all, it's free. Third of all, there is a large parking lot. Fourth of all, there is VERY large parking lot for the bicycles. Fifth and not the least, it has SURFSIDE BEACH SHACK. This beach is understandably busy; not to worry, they have a lifeguard on duty. How lucky are the houses whose backyards are right on this beach?!

Yelp
Heaven on earth. Immaculate beach with chair rentals, restrooms and the surf shack (who knew a pb&j was $8.....definitely pack a lunch). Must see when on the island.

Yelp
Surfside beach is cool, beach was clean, water was nice. Definitely needs more food truck options as the line gets way too long!

Yelp
What a beach! I have been going to Nantucket for 16 yrs. The last 3 years, unfortunately, is when we found Surfside Beach. We stay in Madaket so we never really ventured over to Surfside until recently. Everything about Surfside is top notch! Water temperature is always so perfect (refreshing...not bone-chilling). Lifeguards on duty. Waves are incredible. People are very friendly, lots of families! Snack Shack (Taco Truck) is perfect for before or after your visit. Showers and changing rooms are clean and readily available. Parking is perfect. Plenty of room for everyone! I guess the only issue that I have, and it is a small one, is the walk from the Parking lot to the beach. It can be tough to walk on the hot sand! I grade Surfside Beach, Nantucket Island, MA an A+

Yelp
Nice, clean beach with chair and umbrella rentals. Also had towels, sunblock, footballs, etc for sale. Not to mention, a food/drink stand. Plenty of bike parking. The sand is clean, no seaweed today. This beach is in the Atlantic side of the island, so he waves are consistent with the weather at sea. Today there is a SpikeBall tournament going on so there is a good crowd. There is plenty of room, regardless. There are also lifeguards on a section of the beach. To get here, i took a cab from "downtown" for $16 plus tip. That is each way. You can also take the Wave bus that runs every 40 minutes and is about a 20 min ride for $2.00 each way! Might try that on the ride home.

Yelp
This review is for a day trip from Hyannis to Nantucket going to Surfside beach. Surfside is a really nice beach, easy to reach from the ferry on the Nantucket bus system, with a good bathhouse and snack shack. Take the Surfside bus to the beach for $2 - just a 5 min walk from where the hyline ferry docks. The bus schedule shows that it has lots of stops along the way, but if there's no one waiting at those stops, the bus keeps going and you'll wind up at the beach in 10-15 minutes. The bus drops you off at the small snack shack / bath house. The ferry landed at 12:20 and by the time we got off, we had to go directly to the bus stop to catch the 12:40 bus with only a couple minutes to spare - there's no time to grab anything in town unless you get there early enough to wait for the next bus. The bath house is small, but decent. There are two outside showers to rinse off. The shower water is really cold - colder than the ocean. The bathroom has two private changing rooms so it's easy to change into your bathing suit when you get there and change back into street clothes after a day at the beach. Around the back of the snack shack you can rent beach chairs and beach umbrellas. A chair costs $8 with a $10 deposit and an umbrella costs $10 with a $10 deposit - cash only. In addition, by the time we got to the beach it was 1pm and they only had 1 broken beach chair left, but plenty of umbrellas. So if you plan too rent a chair, you'll need to get there before noon. There's a separate listing for a snack shack, but I'll comment here that it was pretty good for a beach snack shack. I had a $10 grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato and thick slices of avocado - it was great. The cost of chips was a little high at $3 and the homemade lemonade was also a little pricey relative to the cost of the chicken sandwich. Finally, the beach was great. Not as crowded as going to coast guard beach. The water at Surfside was warm and clear. A great day trip from Hyannis. If I had to do it again, I'd bring a small chair - the kind that rolls up, some snacks, rent an umbrella, and buy my lunch there. And knowing that there is a good place for changing have a full set of street clothes all in small back pack. I'd also get an earlier ferry so I would have time to pick up snacks and drinks at the Stop & Shop on the way to the bus stop, but you could also go directly to the bus stop and get your food at the beach.

Yelp
This awesome beach gets a lot of attention for its waves. There's always a good crowd and interesting entertainment, for people often try to surf in any condition. However, it's not terribly crowded. It's easy to walk down the beach and find a more private space, as well. Downside is the NRTA doesn't go here past 6pm.

Yelp
I love this beach. I love this beach even more during off season. A 2.2 mile walk/run from my temporary housing, I love getting up and making my way to Surfside. Just the walkway down to the beach is lovely and more than one person has commented on seeing seals in the water or on the beach. A very quaint and lovely spot

Yelp
This beach is accessible by public transportation or if you drive they have a lot across the street with free parking. There is a snack bar selling things like greasy hamburgers. Recommend bringing lunch instead. Planes from the nearby airport come overhead but it isn't too bad.

Yelp
Nice beach if you like crowds and want to carry your cooler, chairs, games, etc for 600 yards (+) before you find a spot to call home. EXCELLENT beach to bike to.

Kat C.

Yelp
Great beach, with parking, restrooms and snacks! You can rent beach chairs. The water was clear and nice sand. Bring your own cooler and relax! You can ride bikes on the bike path to surfside too.

Yelp
Note: There's a reason why this beach is called Surfside. The surf is ridiculous in a knock -you -down- while- trying to body surf sort of way. Really good for surfers and sunbathers, challenging and perhaps a bit risque for swimmers. One of the folks in my group got sucked out sort of far and had to swim all the way back. Also something to keep in mind for the ladies- the waves can and will knock you bathing suit top off. Just something to go ahead and marinate on, if you don't wanna give the other beach goers a show or anything.

Yelp
Surfside beach is the best beach on Nantucket (And maybe cape cod too.) Hence the name, the surf conditions are amazing. The waves can knock you down, even if you are close to shore. Boogie boarding isn't the best idea, you will get creamed! But the extreme conditions are really fun for kids. A pretty wide beach, unlike Madaket. It's pretty crowded but no one is going to be right on top of you. I would highly recomend surfside beach

Yelp
Fun Day Out and NEVER Crowded. Has Lifeguards on duty!! This is a wonderful beach with clean sand, and the beach is over 50 yards wide. The lifeguards sit on their chairs and constantly monitor the water. You will feel safe, and the kids will have a great time. Say hi to Miller, the yellow labrador pet of the lifeguard manager, who LOVES to swim and play in the water. Hint to my followers: It is over 100 yards from where you park to the beach, so pack light, or carry as much as you can in one trip.
