We come back to this place every time we visit Montauk! The view is spectacular, but it's the food and drinks that keep us coming back. Lobster ravioli, Halibut, Steaks, the fabulous chocolate cake were all favorites. The spicy margarita and the espresso martini were both awesome. The marg might be my number one ever. Thanks for the exceptional service too.

We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and happened upon this place for a fantastic early dinner. We were sat at a lovely table out front with a beautiful ocean view despite not having a reservation. Drinks were spot on. Our server Spencer was quick and attentive. We ordered a lobster cake appetizer special, linguini and clams, and a fried scallop “basket” special. Everything was perfectly prepared and fresh. It was clear that the staff at this restaurant go above and beyond. There was just a good energy amongst them and it definitely could be felt.

Surfside is the best restaurant in Montauk. Not only is the menu more extensive ,with many more excellent choices than the other restaurants ,but the food is delishous as well. The view of the ocean from the outdoor or indoor seating is spectacular with a high chance of seeing dolphins or whales jumping out of the water. The service is warm and friendly and the gracious and friendly owners are on site to be sure you are enjoying their place as well as telling a joke or making you smile with a story or two. The dining room is beautifully appointed and the fireplace area by the bar is whimsical and comfortable. I am a local and cannot say enough about how much I love this restaurant. The bartender is the best and if you go solo,as I do, he is always willing to get to know you and chat. The staff love working there because the owners are so sweet and they get to work while seeing a beautiful serene view. Go to Surfside for all the best ingredients to make your dining experience comfortable and superb.

Google
Best Restaurant in Montauk by far. From the chef in the back to the staff in the front. We stayed in Montauk for 3 weeks and this is the only place (besides Shagwong) where we went 3 times. Food was fantastic from the Duck, to the German Night Sauerbraten, to the BEST clam chowder around. Thanks for great food and service...

Google
We just dined at the restaurant and it was OUTSTANDING! Not only was the food and drink highlights, the Head Waiter, Devon, made our dinner meal the BEST! He has such a wonderful personality and engages each guest as if they are the most important ones there! His signature cocktail of watermelon vodka martini and coconut martini were a delicious way to start off the meal. Don’t miss the mussels, dumplings or burrata salad. Had the lobster ravioli and it was to die for! A wonderful setting with Devon as a waiter and the delicious food combined for a really memorable evening! Thank you Devon!

Chef Shawn Hewitt is incredible and is one of the top chefs on the East Coast. Our tuna tartare was spectacular (caught fresh that morning) and filet mignon grilled to perfection. We will definitely be back!

Google
Beautiful views from the restaurant. Friendly maitre d and waiters. We got a table at a window with beautiful views of the ocean. Try the coconut martini it was excellent. I had the giant scallop also excellent.

Had one of the best dinners of my life here! The meal, service, atmosphere was phenomenal! Make a reservation and go!

Yelp
Happy to say that Surfside Inn is back! Our last dinner there was just fantastic. We both chose evening specials (lamb chops/mashed potatoes and scallops/risotto); both dishes were out of this world delicious. Friendly service too. And they're open 7 days a week now.

Yelp
Surfside has always been a great and genuinely fun culinary experience. Consistently delivering a wide spectrum of dishes I think of as progressive old school delights, including duck l'orange. The entire staff are a joy to spend an evening with. Always fun and upbeat they are timely and on top of the experience without being irritating as some servicing can become. Finally, the addition of Chef Shawn Hewitt has been the perfect synergistic fusion that notches everything up that much higher. Look, this is the best of Montauk, real Montauk. Thoroughly awesome overlooking a beach break chock full of wonderful memories.

Yelp
Recent visit to Montauk brought us to the Surfside Restaurant. We sat inside due to the extreme heat that day only to realize there is no A/C inside. We sat at the bar and ordered two drinks. The tab was $48.00 plus tip. Seriously? I know prices have gone up but that was a record for me. We sat and had dinner. My husband ordered the Cesar Salad which he said was very good. I had the calamari which was good. Husband had the fish he liked I ordered the duck which was not good. I took one bite and that was it. The check was $280 plus tip. This was not at all worth $280. We will not be back.

Yelp
Wonderful time, great service. Lots of local, fresh options. Always love clams surfside, the chowder and fluke were delicious. . Beautiful view. Have been coming here for many years and have many wonderful memories.

Yelp
Great food and amazing service. We had a fantastic dinner from start to finish. Definitely worth a try

Yelp
We live in Amagansett and had not been to Surfside for quite some time. $17 happy hour martinis is high. We checked out the menu for future reference. the lowest prices for $45 for pasta were ridiculous. The most expensive items were $65 for a steak? The Jamaican bartender on more than one occasion kept on saying inflation, inflation, inflation, which we found quite irritating. We went home and made a shrimp dish which probably cost us about $10.

Yelp
We went for my birthday this week. Pretty much over priced. Entrees were $40. I understand price increase but almost double. This is not an exclusive restaurant. Ordered a glass of wine and got something completely different. When I questioned this, I was told they didn't sell what I ordered by the glass, so they just substituted without telling me. Then when I ordered something else, I couldn't even drink it because it was so sour tasting. Felt like I didn't want to complain again, so I just left it. If I had known they were going to charge me $20 for a sour glass of wine that I didn't want in the first place, I wouldn't have been so shy! Surf side is a place we had gone to for years, as we always loved the beautiful spot. Unfortunately I don't think we will want to go there again, as it is definitely "soured" for us. Will not go there again.!!

Yelp
The hotel was great & very clean in a great location with fantastic views my only complaint is the shower head had barely any water pressure so I can't give 5 stars

Meghan D.

Yelp
While the food and service were exceptable, management was not. Management told my family we are not welcome back after our kids were on the deck looking at the ocean view. There is a sign when entering that says children must remain seated at all times. If that is the case then the service should be expedited. Obviously getting children to remain seated is a challenge. However, our children were not bothering anyone, just the manager. After further research on reviews, we were not the only family that experienced this disgraceful managers behavior over children. Such a shame, we will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
A hidden gem! Besides the delicious food and drinks, the welcoming atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff makes you feel like you are a part of the family. Family owned and operated and we look forward to going back as much as possible.

Yelp
It may be time for Surfside to change its name to the Salty Dog to properly reflect the temperament of the cantankerous, ornery owner who oversees the restaurant like it's the last thing in the world he wants to do. I don't know... always figured that to be successful in the hospitality/ service industry you would need to be a people person, or maybe just pleasant. He reminds one of the infamous soup chef in Seinfeld ... which is ironic because the Clam Chowder is the absolute best my family and I have ever had. Despite the perfect setting, perched slightly above the Atlantic in ears distance of the surf, the dining experience is ultimately ruined if you have the misfortune of running into him. Whether it's in the beginning when you are seated, in the middle if you need to use the restroom or upon your departure ... avoid this man like a junkyard dog.

Yelp
This restaurant completed our vacation!! The best service, best view and best food we've had in a long time. You can see how amazing the food was just by the photos I posted. We stumbled upon Surfside inn a couple years back and had the most amazing brunch. We went on Thursday 8/15 for dinner this time and we are so happy we did. Can't wait to come back next season and enjoy another meal. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
We had such a lovely meal. Our waiter Kenny was extremely professional and provided great service with a smile. The food was amazing especially the scallops and shrimp. It's great to have a wonderful view and a great experience. Look forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!! We attempted a family dinner here in the off-season (after Labor Day) mid-week. Before you reach the main dining area you see a HUGE sign stating "children must be seated at all times" The hostess was immediately rude and stated we could not be seated for 45 minutes to an hour even though the inside dining area was more than half empty and no one was dining on the outside deck. We walked right out and ended up at O' Murphy's Pub which the family LOVED! They were treated with decency and respect that all humans young or old deserve. O' Murphy's got 5 stars from me.

Yelp
This is for the restaurant. First of all, it's valet parking only and it's best to have a reservation. The restaurant itself was very cozy in that south-shore beachy way. The view was amazing as they sat us by a window seat and you had a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, framed with big white hydrangeas - stunning. The service was outstanding. Shout out to our waiter Richard who was very attentive and helpful. My boyfriend, Jim Duggan, had the rib eye steak, medium rare, and it was so delicious it literally melted in your mouth like butter. I had the lobster ravioli in a Parma rosa sauce with Parmesan, cherry tomatoes and crumbled lobster garnish. It was phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's a definite go-to when you're in Montauk.

Yelp
My wife and I vacationed in Montauk to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. As Kevin mentioned, we too had heard good things about the Surf Lodge. However, rather than trying it, we were happy to see that the Surfside Inn was located close to where we were staying right on Old Montauk Highway. Although it's not right on the ocean, but across the street, it is a nice setting to have a good meal and spectacular view without the ocean becoming a distraction because of noise. We did not have reservations, but showed up around 6 pm on a weeknight. Now keep in mind we vacationed in September after Labor Day, so the tourism had slowed. What we found was the perfect atmosphere to celebrate an anniversary. We were seated right on the front porch and were treated to a spectacular sunset filled with purple and orange sparkles and then the moonlight reflecting off the gently crashing ocean waves. Our waiter was extremely courteous and explained that his father served as a waiter for nearby Gurney's for 50 years! We had the most amazing salad with raspberry dressing and goat cheese, crab-stuffed shrimp with a delicious creamy butter sauce, and a dessert of fried cheescake (think fried sopapilla stuffed with cheesecake) with ice cream. Yummy! Admittedly, it's hard to bank on having the same atmosphere every night, but I would heartily recommend Surfside for great food and great views. It's a must for a nice romantic dinner.

Yelp
This place was okay. I had a crab cake appetizer, which was actually pretty good considering that I have been spoiled by my 10+ years of living in DC. Nice large chunks of crab, not much filler. For entrees we ordered 2 specials; a center cut filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus and a seafood fra diavolo. Both dishes were solid, the filet was perfectly cooked and wonderfully soft and buttery, exactly what you would expect of a high quality piece of cow. In fact, we only got to eat a few bites because it got highjacked by the stepson, who somehow finagled a trade for his kids menu chicken fingers and fries. Well played stepson, well played. The husband really took one for the team there.

Yelp
SUMMARY: Worth a visit. Good food. Great attitude, vibe, and service. Very good dinner here with friends. Ended up here as a 2nd choice as we believed the hype about Surf Lodge and drove out but it was a MAD house with huge lines and cars parked up and down the highway and it was obvious dinner wasn't happening. We had a large group. Ordered every appetizer on the menu and I tried most. My favorite was the raw littleneck clams on the halfshell. FRESH and outstanding. They also make a mean crabcake. Disappointment was the award winning clam chowder which was meh. Reminded me of Campbells Chunky clam chowder with extra herbs and wasn't served as hot (temperature) as it should have been. My entree was a fluke special which was wonderfully prepared. There was a huge pile of organic greens on the side which was odd but tasty. Wife had the short ribs. Not fantastic but quite good. They came with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes which were both great. One of our friends ordered the cheese grits as a side. OMG. The grits were sent directly from heaven. Definitely order the grits. I recommend this place. The staff is friendly, the location is beautiful, and the food is good.

Yelp
I ate here last night and the service was terrible. The food was decent, but the service was poor enough to take a lot of pleasure out of our meal. The restaurant was practically empty with almost a server per table, but we were neglected the whole night. I think a bus boy was in training as a server, but there was no one training him - not his fault. I had to send back dirty glassware twice and was served a cocktail in a chipped glass. We were also served the wrong pasta dish and had to wait while it was being remade - makes for an awkward meal when one person is finishing dinner while the other hasn't started. No acknowledgment by the waiter or hostess/owner. I can't even walk away saying "at least they did the right thing."

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Montauk! My fiancé and I have been here twice already and we always have a blast! Came here for dinner and we ordered the crab cake and little neck clams for appetizer. For the entree, my fiancé ordered the fish of the day which was the Flounder served with saffron rice! I had the BBQ ribs which was amazing!!! Try also their slow cooked pork shank (OMG to die for). For dessert we had the mud pie which was very sinful! We will surely come back here next summer!

Yelp
I have been here many times over the years and I would give it anywhere from 3-4 starts dependent on the night, which usually is dependent on their service. Sadly, the last night I was there deserved a 3.5. We started with the clam chowder and spinach artichoke dip. The soup was great, large chunks of clam. The dip was good but they served it was crackers. Really warranted nice small slices of bread. Next, I had the pork shank. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. The side of mashed potatoes were great but the asparagus looked pathetic. My husband had the BBQ ribs and loved them. For dessert, I had the vermont cake with vanilla ice cream. It was great. They changed their wonderful cheesecake to a fried cheesecake which my husband tried. Very disappointing, no reason to fry cheesecake. The service was slow, the bill was pricey. I would go back though for my 50% chance of good service.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible experience and will never return. Dined here with my family to celebrate my birthday, we waited over an hour for our food that was met with excuse after excuse (the restaurant was not crowded). When the food finally came an hour and half after we ordered, it was served with an attitude and some dishes were cold. The entire staff from the waiter to manager/owner were nothing but rude, condescending, and insulting to my whole family. Worst dining experience I've ever had and quite frankly extremely upsetting to everyone.

Mary S.

Yelp
Review for restaurant -- bad food and service. Took way too long to get our dinner. Terrible service, no one ever came to ask how we were doing or how the food was. Unfriendly and rude staff, not children or family friendly
google avatar

J A.

Yelp
consistent in that there's a great view but menu and decor leaves much to be desired.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
Amazing view and great food. Had the artichoke, spinach and Brie dip which was delicious. Ordered the savannah shrimp for dinner - cheese grits were awesome - hotter than I thought it would be (which was fine by me but not for my mom who also ordered it). Also, sangria was delicious!
google avatar

Kyle B.

Yelp
Anytime you get old guacamole the tell-tell sign is that discoloration starts as soon as it's taken out of the refrigerator. That's what we got. After that why even expect that anything else we order will get better care, originality or preparation?
google avatar

Marilyn K.

Yelp
Beware of this restaurant if you have a food allergy. No attention was paid when my friend warned of a milk allergy (butter was specifically mentioned). She ordered lobster, with grilled shrimp, corn and roasted potatoes. Drawn butter was balanced precariously on her plate, next to the "buttered" corn, leaning on the potatoes and lobster. Did some of the drawn butter spill onto the plates? The shrimp were gleaming. We were assured not. ?? Was there butter on the corn? Hesitantly, we were told, "a little." Both the waiter and his trainee were extremely passive - almost afraid to be honest. Finally, the whole plate was taken away, the lobster was thrown back to rid it of any possible butter, or flavor, as it was returned to the table, over-cooked and tasteless. (Minus one claw). We were really looking forward to dining here but this is my first negative review and we will not return.

Chris S.

Yelp
This is one of those hard reviews where most of the meal was highly enjoyable but you still feel someone got into your wallet for an extra $50. First the venue and view was absolutely gorgeous. Dine outside on the front veranda if you can. Nice touch was a basket of toasted baguette with oil and balsamic with shaved cheese brought out to us to start. Then our appetizers of fried calamari which were fresh and tasted good but because there were no tentacles left me wondering if they started as frozen rings. My wife enjoyed her mozzarella over tomato slices very much. Then the main courses of pan-seared salmon over sautéed wilted spinach with red potatoes which was delicious and my wife's lobster ravioli which she thoroughly enjoyed to anchor the meal. The tarragon in the sauce was not for me but my wife loved it. Now- the downer. Because it was still balmy, we both ordered their vodka and lemonade drink which came out in mason jars. The lemonade is advertised as "homemade". Well, we're still waiting for the vodka and lemons to show up. Because we were enjoying the food and ambiance we didn't complain. But when the bill came I wish I had. $18 each for watered down drinks begging for ingredients. When you factor in tax and a 20% tip there's your close to $50.00. My advice? Liquor up a bit beforehand and go enjoy the food and venue but skip the drinks.

Yelp
Nestled away on a back road in Montauk is the Surfside Inn. It is one of my favorite restaurants to visit in Montauk because the food is excellent and the views are to die for. They have outdoor sitting on the porch, where you can watch the sunset over the water in the distance. The place has been around for years and has an old, rustic, house look and feel to it. The wait staff is friendly and their seafood is to die for. Try to either sit outside or at a window seat for the full effect. Everytime a friend of mine visits from the city, she insists on coming here, it has long been a favorite for us. It does get crowded, so get there early!

Jim G.

Yelp
Been coming to Montauk more than 30 years and frankly not a lot of consistently good food. Surfside Sunday Brunch - Second year in a row - is highly recommended. Great ocean view, terrific service and good food. Prices aren't what you'd pay at John's pancakes but you get so much more. Great for older families and couples. Wouldn't come and eat with young kids.

Serge L.

Yelp
This time around we didn't eat at the restaurant but rather spent 3 nights at the inn for a little getaway in early June. Overall the accommodations were fine. The room and bathroom were clean, as were the linens. All of the rooms have a unobstructed view of the ocean, and you're only 20 yards or so from a path to beach so it's an easy walk. It was also pretty early in the season so the rates were very reasonable, and we may have been the only guests for those days. If I'm honest, I'd pay a little bit more and stay somewhere else in the future, possibly down the road at Gurney's or Panoramic View that have nicer accommodations and more amenities. Quick Tip: "Private Bathroom" is a bit misleading, as said bathroom is not actually in your room, but across the hallway. However the door is keyed and assigned to your room, so you can lock it if you're worried about other guests sneaking in for a late night BM.

Yelp
We love to stay here during the off season (usually in May and again in September) and it's AMAZING. We always stay in Room #2 which has an absolutely incredible view. The private bathroom is across the hall, but it never bothered us. Very clean and the bed is super comfortable. We like the quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Love that they have beach chairs for us to use. Definitely will stay again.

Yelp
My favorite Montauk restaurant. Always reliable. Great setting. Delicious food. Friendly staff - slightly away from the crowds in downtown. The salmon is really good and lobster ravioli too. My wife loves the ribs.

Yelp
A must visit while in Montauk...The Surfside Inn on old Montauk highway is conveniently lcoated just west of downtown...full menu with a compliment of Octoberfest items including susages with sauerkraut which I had and was very good...friendly/attentive service...reasonable prices
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Had a nice meal at the restaurant last week. The service was a little slow, but that seems normal for the area. I highly recommend the clam chowder and the tartufo with sorbet inside.
google avatar

Shawna M.

Yelp
Great food and great service! So nice to have a place to go to dinner that isn't a scene.

Eric D.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Salad could have just been some leaves dumped on a plate from a pack. Filet mignon special was overcooked and accompanied by a few odd looking potatoes and three slices of zucchini. This looked like A meal prepared with minimal effort. However, I paid high end Manhattan prices for the pleasure... Nice views, I guess that's why it costs what it costs. There are better dining experiences in Montauk.
google avatar

Diane E.

Yelp
We're staying next door at the sunrise guest house so we just walked over without a reservation. Sat outside and it was a lovely cool evening. We had a big lunch so I got the mussels for my meal off the appetizer menu. They were good and it was a generous portion. My husband had the cod with wilted spinach. The fish was tastie, but the spinach was pretty bland. Carrot cake was good. Service was great. Overall a good experience.

Milana S.

Yelp
This is my first negative review ever but i was so appalled by my experience at this restaurant that I had to write this. We ordered fish and chicken, fish was obviously frozen not fresh even though the owner kept repeating that was the catch of the day, and the chicken was undercooked and smelled foul. When we mentioned that there was something wrong with the chicken, the owner literally cursed at us, and took away the food.somehow some french fries one corn and two disgusting dishes later our bill was $134. I wish I had the guts to just walk out on the bill. The server was super apologetic, and it seem like this actually happens a lot when he was trying to make it better. I don't understand all these positive reviews, their food is absolutely not fresh, and I'm top of that there chef is terrible it's just not prepared in anyway that would be edible. Stay away and don't believe the positive reviews

Deborah F.

Yelp
I would like to start by saying i have never written a review for a restaurant before , but this past Saturday evening the experience we had at Surfside Inn in Montauk NY was one we all will not forget. First I called earlier to make a reservation and to ask if they had a gluten free menu. I spoke with the owner and he was very kind and patient and said he does and would get more information and i told him we had a large party 8 adults and 8 children 5 were gluten free he asked if we didn't mine coming in early i said that would be fine. When we arrived he had his staff set a large table on the patio with a beautiful ocean view ,the restaurant was not opened yet but he seated us anyway and talked with us and played with my grandchildren , the wait staff was also wonderful, so kind they had so much patience and worked with us on the gluten free dinners ,they were able to serve us the best gluten free dinners they took some of there dishes and were able to serve them gluten free , they even made a gluten free cheese cake just for our party and the children were so excited it was delicious .For the first time since we got to Montauk our gluten free family members were able to enjoy an amazing gluten free dinner along with the rest of the family. the food was wonderful every dish we ordered was so good very tasty the seafood was so good and the steak was amazing. and the staff treated us like royalty it was the best. The Surfside inn SHOULD BE RATED a 5 star restaurant and should be number 1 for dinner in Montauk can't wait to go back for another great experience.

Rich G.

Yelp
Let me start by saying this review would be given 0 out of 5 stars if the chefs did not prepare such an outstanding meal. Upon entering this establishment last night (July 11, 2014) we were not initially greatest by anyone. There was one couple in front if us who had been waiting for the hostess (we later found out she had friends at the restaurant that evening because she kept walking away from her station to converse with them). She rudely told them they would need to wait while she organized her list of reservations. After asking them where they would like to be seated and taking them to their desired table she approached myself and my girlfriend. She asked if we had a reservation to which we replied no. Here I must point out a total of 9 tables were open at the time 4 outside and 5 inside. We asked if it would be possible to sit out side. She said no I'd rather sit you here, placing us at the small table directly outside the kitchen area. During the rest of the night 5 more couples walked in and all got the table they requested (2 two of which stated they had no reservation). At no point was anyone sat at the 4 tables surrounding us and the kitchen. From this point the service took a turn for the worst. Our server who seemed perplexed at first by how isolated our seating was (back corner of a half empty restaurant next to a noisy kitchen) nicely brought us menus and walked away with out any introduction. Returning a short while later asked us if we had any questions and wanted any drinks. Me and my girlfriend both responded "water is fine please" gave a very blunt "oh" and walked away. 5 minutes later returned with water and left again, neglecting to ask if we were ready to order. About 5-10 minutes later returned to take our order. From this point on we did not see him for the rest of the night. He walked by our table a total of 14 times not once asking how out meal was or if we wanted anything else. He simply returned with a check 10-20 minutes after our played had been cleared. As I mentioned in the beginning absolute complements to the chef, our meals were fantastic and this was some of the best food I have eaten in a while. How ever the absolute lack of respect shown by the service staff does not ever warrant this business staying in operation past this season. To any management reading this review my recipe says server 102 and the hostess shift was the night shift on Friday July 11. I can safely say I will never return to this restaurant as this was hands down the worst dining experience of my life.

Yelp
Lots of potential and great looking menu but poorly executed. First, the good stuff: we sat on the porch and had a wonderful view of the water and the waves crashing. Second, the people are pretty friendly which makes for a good atmosphere. The muscles for appetizer were also quite good as it is really hard to screw up muscles. They served the broth on the side which I found to be a nice touch. You can dip each muscle into the sauce and have as much of the seasoning as you like. It was served with a couple of slices of really good garlic bread. The bad: everything else. The entrees were terrible. The citrus glazed salmon was cooked to the point of being jerky. It was perhaps one of the worst pieces of fish I have had without the fish actually going rancid. I am not sure what the chef was thinking, but it should be a crime to cook a nice piece of fish to that point. The other dish was a braised short rib with a veal demi. Again great potential, but the ribs and sauce were under seasoned. The meat was tender, but didn't carry much flavor. I ordered the dessert to cleans the palate of this bad meal and the key lime pie was even worse. There was no lime flavor and the pie came out orange. I can appreciate not using green food color to try to keep it organic, but there is no reason that key lime pie should be orange. And with no lime flavor, I discovered the reason: there was no lime...With such an interesting looking menu and great view, it was a huge disappointment...Two stars.

Yelp
we just enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the Surfside Inn. It was conveniently located right next door to our B&B and it's an offpeak night, so a window seat was not a problem. We started with some yummy special drinks... A white sangria and a planters punch, which was fantastic. We went with the mussels appetizer, which was excellent. They were huge mussels in a delicious light white wine and garlic sauce. We asked for extra bread to soak up the yummy sauce. For our main course, i went with the striped bass special, and my husbnd had the cajun linguine, which had chicken, sausage and shrimp and was the winner for the evening for being particularly deliciious. The striped bass was made with a bit of a sweet finish which i enjoyed, along with some perfectly prepared veggies. We just wish we had room for dessert!

Yelp
Shocked at the prices of the food here versus the quality. When you are going to charge $30, yes &30 dollars for Lobster Macaroni and Cheese you better include the whole lobster. This was penne pasta dripping in some cream sauce (the same sauce on two other pastas ordered) with bits of lobster. In fact, all entrees averaged $30. I ordered the flounder that came with a side of rice and some drippy asparagus. All the fish or meat entrees came with rice or mashed potatoes - those classic cheap side dishes intended to fill a dinner plate. Nothing original at this place, my fish was bland and for myself, husband and three kids we walked out with a bill over $200. Too many better restaurants to try in this town, save your money.

Yelp
We havent been here in almost 5 years, but it is walking distance from our hotel and since we had a few drinks in us, decided to walk over and try it. First, the hostess went out of her way to find us a table. Our waiter was a solid pro, friendly and knowledgeable, he knew how everything was prepared and knew the specials without having to look at a piece of paper. Theres something to be said about highly experienced professional staff. The place was packed and on a Tuesday night in the off season. Always a good sign. We shared the veggie dumplings which were delicious. I had the shrimp and grits (polenta to the uninformed or pretentious). The grits were great and the combination of the shrimp with the andouille sausage was great tasting and filling. Tho I wouldn't have liked a little more grits. My wife had the grilled special and loved it. I took a bite of her filet mignon and it was very good indeed. This is a place where hou really cant go wrong.

Yelp
Food merely passable to mediocre. Excellent, temp (foreign youngsters, mostly) waitstaff--attentive, swift, solicitous, courteous. Pretty place, inside & out.

Yelp
The view is spectacular and the staff very accomodating but the chef clearly does not respect his/her product. A beautiful and very expensive piece of halibut filet ($39/lb in Citarellas in E.Hampton) was okay but totally spoiled by the ridiculous wasabi mashed potatoes. I couldn't taste anything after a small forkful of the potatoes. The crab cake appetizer was pretty good and I should have stopped with that and added a salad. When we questioned our server about the overly fussy and incompatible tastes, we were told there were many return customers, some eat there every night. People who can afford $35 entrees should have better taste.

Yelp
Had another fantastic meal at the Surfside last night. New England clam chowder is the real deal. Doesn't get better than this. We had the halibut with blueberry beurre blanc and the flounder with an olive tapenade. Fish was so fresh and both dishes were outstanding. Service was great And the ambiance is wonderful. In our opinion, this is truly a restaurant not to be missed!

Yelp
We just returned from our trip to Montauk for a family wedding. We ended up staying at Surfside a bit by accident, but it was a happy one. Our room was beautiful and clean. The ocean view, breeze, and of course the sound of the surf made us immediate fans. We loved the quiet atmosphere. It felt like we were staying with family. Our bathroom was not in the room, but three steps away. Both were private, clean, and perfect for our needs. The staff was extremely attentive. You can be on the beach in thirty seconds, and you can walk to the village. We had never been to Montauk, but we are already planning to return and we will be sure to get room #3 again! We ate in the restaurant and the lobster rolls lived up to their description -- full of real lobster meat, not just little flakes and tons of mayo.
