Google
This was a good lunch spot with a solid selection of sushi and appetizers. We started off with their miso soup which was delicious. I also had their spicy edemame which was about two cups worth and the sauce was phenomenal. Their iced green tea was also great on a hot day. I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.

Google
Solid sushi spot. I do feel it's a bit pricey compared to how much food you get per plate. picture below shows the crunchy roll and the popcorn bake. They were both $18. But it does have a wide variety of sushi and non sushi options. I think it's a good spot to go to if you have some picky eater friends, but even then, theres better options around the village. Aside from the food, the staff is very speedy and friendly.

Google
First of all, the rolls were amazing! Coming to DTLA from Phoenix, I was expecting to pay sooo much more than $18 for 8/9 sushi rolls so the price was fine with me! I also have a picky eater, so chicken tenders and fries were a winner! The ramen was sooo good and filling. We actually door dashed this place a few days ago to the hotel, and when we walked by, we practically tripped over our feet to have it again, this time in the restaurant. Would definitely come back!

Google
Best sushi in Los Angeles Variety of menu options for the family or friends, water cups are so small, the vibes are just right, tablet ordering. The plates in general are tiny, I don’t feel like it’s equivalent to the price but then again it’s fish so I’m no expert. Tempura is dry but definitely edible. Regular rice is on the dry side, sushi rice is very well prepared.

Google
A very nice experience overall. The staff was polite, and ordering from the table-side tablets was convenient. The service was a bit on the slower side, but the sushi made up for it—it was absolutely incredible. The “Mission Roll” is a must-try and comes highly recommended. A solid spot for sushi lovers!

Google
Came here for a chill lunch and they were the only place in the area open early in the day around 11am. The atmosphere was good, I really liked the music choice. Mostly ordered from the tablet, table service was ok. Servers were nice enough. The plates were chipped, and I really didn’t like that. Photo provided. Unfortunately the food was quite hit or miss. The Katsu bento as pictured in my review was quite bad despite good presentation; 5/10. chicken was extremely dry, I’m used to ono Hawaiian BBQ for katsu and this plate paled in comparison. Possibly was just overcooked. The tempura that came with was undercooked on the other hand, and the veggies were raw in the center. Not a good option. As for the sushi which most of us are going for anyway though, it was good. I especially enjoyed the tempura salmon roll, which was a stuffed baked salmon roll with the entire roll itself then fried in tempura batter. This was a delicious sushi and the highlight of the meal, a 8/10. Lastly I got an order of the fried calamari and it wasn’t bad either, a solid 7/10 fried crispy and tasty. Overall the restaurant is probably a 7/10 for me. I’d come back under similar circumstances and just stick to the sushi.

Google
Everything about Sushi Gala is wonderful. The food is great, the service is exceptional, and always a great time at the Japanese Village. First time trying and it exceeded my expectations. Definitely will be coming back.

Google
Definitely a go to spot for when I’m in little Tokyo with a group, they’ve got decent prices on a good burger and fries. Their ramen was pretty good and so was the fried rice. Never get a chance to try the sushi out but I’m sure it’s great. Service was friendly, and bathroom located inside. They also validate parking.

Yelp
Food was delicious and fresh, a bit salty though. The service was great, we were helped and served pretty quickly.

Yelp
The food came out fast and was good. The service was excellent and they were respectful. Shout out to Melissa for the awesome service.

Yelp
So i get it...lots of options in little tokyo and you opted to eat here? Well let me tell you. Wanted some sushi for lunch and was in area and this spot looked decent whils most of the big hitters ( Enya, Sawa) were closed. So read reviews sitting around 3 star and figured to just roll with it. Got an outdoor table and service was relatively quick. They had sapporo on draft and a variety of nigiri, sashimi, and specialty rolls to boot. Salmon nigiri was good with fish that seemed to be oretty good in quality. Had a rainbow roll for specialty and this was pretty decent although rice seemed like it could have been a bit better ( seemed like it needed a few more minute to cook or more water) In any case in my limited offerings was decent enough for a quick bite if in area with friendly enough staff.

Yelp
Shockingly underwhelming. But I guess I should've known that while walking in. Maybe their goal wasn't to be good, but to have a broad enough menu to hit everyone. Curry? Sure. Sushi? Fugg yea! Yakisoba? Coming right up! Teriyaki? Of course! Bento sets? Yup. Burgers and fries? We got that too. Chicken tenders too?? You better believe it. How about ramen? All kinds. With a menu that broad and varied, no one thing is being done well. Service was fine. Ambiance was also, fine. Just nothing was good and everything was about $20. Teriyaki and donkatsu has the same problem: the base protein wasn't seasoned before cooking. So you have this weird, slightly overcooked and unseasoned meat in a strong sauce, and that in combination clashes instead of balancing. The issues go on, but with so many good spots in the area, this spot is amazing that it continues to do business.

Yelp
I've decided to come here at the sushi gala cause on Dec. 15 my family of 10 and I we were celebrating my dad and my aunt birthday, my cousin brought the cake and ask if they could cut it for us and they did and they didn't mind and they played happy birthday song and that was awesome we had the best experience ever, the food was great the service was amazing, Melissa took our order she was awesome and amazing and she was very patience with us. Now yesterday was my birthday and my nephew as well. I brought the cake and ask one of the waiters or the mngr if they could do us the favor if they could cut the cake for us (now mind you my family of 8 and I was expecting the same experience from last month) and he said "cause it's a Sunday we will see" I'm like what ok fine (so that's a no). So we got our table and gave us our menu and telling us they were going to bring our water and they never did. We see the waiters passing by our table and they never acknowledge us. And we Waited for at least 10-20 minutes to see if one of the waiters is coming to take our orders but they never came. I've realized they were going to other tables of group of two or four people taking their orders. So we order from the tablet. It was a hassle. My family was irritated and disappointed the service was horrible, they didn't acknowledge us that much. My nephew and I didn't have the best experience for our bday it was huuuge let down. Oh I forgot the food was great that's only one nice thing I have to say. And to be honest we didn't tip them.

Yelp
This restaurant looks very welcoming from the outside, so I decided to give it a try without look up the yelp review like usual . We ordered a total of 2 rolls and 3 hand roll. 1 Sashimi combos, 1 poke salad The only rolls we enjoyed were the eel avocado hand roll, the dragon roll just ok to compare with other. The rest of them were really bad. Especially the sashimi was not fresh. I was very surprised at how this restaurant so crowded ? it's because location in Japanese Village? people came here only tourists like us ? The service was slow, we ordered directly from iPads and food just came out but it's took for awhile. .

Cristina B.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with a friend while in the area. Staff were very nice and helpful. Food was easy to order on the touchpad and arrived fairly quickly. My friend and I enjoyed both of our meals. Sitting inside was nice and quiet, but there's an option to sit outside as well. Overall, I would dine here again!

Yelp
Hungry to try some West Coast sushi! After strolling around and looking at menus to see which will fit our budget, we finally decided on this restaurant for lunch. The menu has wide range of options for everyone. We were seated in a booth across from some other tourists as well. That family had fries and American style food which we thought was odd because it was a Japanese restaurant. I guess they lucked out finding American food in the plaza that features mostly Asian cuisine. Ordered: Beef bento box (sub salad instead of tempura) Sushi bento Viking Roll (looked interesting) Sashimi combo (small) A la cart sushi nigri: octopus & scallop While everything looks great and tasted good, it wasn't anything amazing. Fish did seem fresh and it was cool to see the differences in the cooking flavors/style here from NY. Not too much differences but it could be this place is mostly for tourist so the menu is more generic and easy pleasing.

Yelp
We've tried most restaurants in The Japanese Village. But we hadn't tried Sushi Gala. We were seated right away. We had the Chinese chicken salad, miso soup, teriyaki beef bowl, caterpillar roll and baked salmon roll. We love eel and that's why we got the caterpillar roll. It had so much crab in it(that I don't like) that I couldn't even taste the eel. The baked salmon roll was full of crab as well. The salad, soup and beef were good. $100 for mediocre sushi was not good.
google avatar

Jasmine A.

Yelp
Staff was kind, but I would never go back. I did not enjoy fighting off gnats the entire time I ate my mediocre food. If you choose to each here. Eat out outside because the restaurant has a serious gnat problem. (which concerns me for other reasons and this is the primary reason why I won't be back) I'm not being dramatic either. I literally saw 3/4 tables with people at them swatting like their sustenance depended on it. (Which it did)

Robert C.

Yelp
Service was not great. Felt like I was in the way. Tonkatsu ramen was really salty. Caterpillar roll was okay. Katsu curry (pictured) was really bad. Kind of close to being over fried. Meet was dry and rough. Curry was watery. Two carrots and one potato chunk. For $53 + tip, I felt like it could be much better.

Yelp
They have a really convincing menu so we decided to stop in because the food looked so good. We started off with the chicken karaage was juicy and flavor so we were off the a good start. The rolls tasted fine but we're overall disappointing for the price. Some were mushy others not that flavorful. The nigiri was good though we could tell the fish was fresh. Overall not worth it except for the karaage.

Alexi L.

Yelp
Service was fine. Food was misleading and extremely bland, me and my boyfriend had to dump soy sauce on it. Got the sushi combo and teriyaki bowl. They don't give you descriptions on the food either half the time. Very small 8oz cup for water too. Don't recommend

Yelp
My family of 10 and I had an amazing time, and were exceptionally well attended to by Melissa. The service she provided was outstanding; she catered to our every need. The food was not only delicious and fresh but also served promptly.
google avatar

Yelp
We got a bunch of different dishes. From bento boxes, to sushi, to ramen! Their edamame was good, we got their salted one and their spicy one - the spicy one isn't even spicy lol We all thought the food was okey here. There is a huge variety of food, other than what we ordered they also have burgers. Definitely a crazy fusion haha

Yelp
Great spot to stop by and eat after walking around Little Tokyo. The sushi tasted fresh & the service was fast and kind. The ambiance was busy due to the location, but I got sat down fast & served fast because there was only two of us. Small to large party friendly! Now for the food! Spanish Roll 8/10: wish it had some of the spicy mayo & eel sauce drizzled on, I personally love that

Yelp
Spent the day in little Tokyo and came to this place. Service was good along with the atmosphere however the food was mehhh .,idk I guess I expected better from little Tokyo. The food is piping hot. Just flavor wise it was meh. I do plan on coming back and trying it again but besides that everything from customer service, the view, to checkout was fine. There are air of choices on the menu as well which is great! It's just lacking flavor.
google avatar

Christina Y.

Yelp
Decent sushi restaurant in the heart of Little Tokyo. One of my favorite things to do with my partner is to visit Little Tokyo and do some shopping around and eating. On this particular day, I was craving rolls, so we decided to dine in at Sushi Gala. We were greeted kindly and seated at a table of our choice. The cool thing about this restaurant is that there is a tablet where you can place and submit your orders, and even submit another order again if you want more food. We ordered a karaage appetizer, baked lobster roll, baked volcano roll, and a bottle of Ramune. Service was good, but I felt that the prices were a bit on the pricier side. But, hey, I understand that it's Downtown Los Angeles and that Little Tokyo is a good place for tourism as well. Overall, we quite enjoyed our meal.

Yelp
This place was really nice. I'd highly recommend getting their beef udon. It is super good. Shoutout to Anthony, our waiter, for the excellent service.

andy bel l.

Yelp
Disappointed with our waiter. He gave me water with lemon in a small pc plastic container It means he doesn't like us coming back Promise we won't come back here anymore

Raea F.

Yelp
We had dinner here on a Saturday. The servers were all friendly and the food was great! I don't understand why a reviewer is so pressed about the small water cups. They don't have a water limit lol they refill as needed. Anyway we ordered gyoza and it was good. Beef ramen delicious, teriyaki chicken bento box was great! And we ordered a Mexican sushi roll, spicy tuna/tuna roll, and la paz roll all very good and we will definitely be returning!! We loved the food and service

Yelp
I'm ONLY reviewing my pick up order of chicken chicken salad. Changing the name and owners didn't make it better. I use to come here and order their Chinese chicken salad when it Las Galas. The salad now is NOT worth ordering. It's iceberg lettuce, shredded chicken, chopped green onions, cucumber & the dressing. When it was Las Galas before or any establishment A Chinese chicken salad would come with sliced almonds, wonton skins or rice vermicelli (which had both before), sliced cabbage, cucumber, carrots and iceberg lettuce. Sushi gala just gave me a chicken salad. Horrible. To feed 5 people it's $32. For 10 people it's $42. But when I called to order they were trying to charge me $62 for 10. He may have made a mistakes as he tried to cover up on pushing the wrong button on the computer. But then he still kept charging me higher than what I was quoted for in the first call. And trying to say "oh oh sorry it is....." please get it right or lie a little bit better. Will I come back to order the salad again? NO after receiving the salad with out the ingredients I pass. I'd rather make it at home.

Yelp
Came to Sushi Galas / Las Galas on July 4th for lunch after our other plans fell thru due to holiday closures. The food was okay, service was fairly quick. We got the rainbow roll, salmon lover roll, beef yakisoba noodles, and Yakiniku Bento. The rolls were standard. The Beef Yakisoba Noodles was a bit salty, and portion was a little small to my surprise. The Yakiniku Bento was a decent size and came with a few pieces of California Roll and Tempura. Overall impressions is that the food is basic/standard. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available, and you can add yourself to the waitlist. Parking is either in the Japanese Village Plaza lot or you can try your luck at finding street marking (watch for meters - but they're usually free on Sundays & holidays).

Amanda M.

Yelp
This place looks inviting however, the sushi is not good and gave me the most painful stomachache of my life until the next day. We also found a dead fly in our pitcher of sapporo. When we told our waiter Anthony and asked if we could get it replaced he brought us a new cup and threw out our beer. No refill and we had to pay for it even though we didn't drink most of it due to the dead fly in it. We were so upset by that we paid and ate somewhere else. I will never come back again this was a terrible experience.

Aland G.

Yelp
Best, Ramen I've ever had in my life. The sushi is bomb and the customer service by Anthony, Mellisa and, ever top notch highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Was strolling around Little Tokyo and ended up on this place. Food was okay, nothing special really, except that you're eating at Little Tokyo. The pork was tender but more on the bland side. Tempura was mainly veggies, I was served 1 piece of shrimp only. Huge portion. Overall, it wasn't bad. Atmosphere was pretty nice. I was seated at the patio and it was fine. Staff are nice. Service was fast considering it was a weekend.
google avatar

Isaac H.

Yelp
Not bad but not good. We were drawn in by the fact that they offered a variety of different meals, something for everyone in the group. But that just meant that the quality of the food was hit or miss for all of them. Tables were definitely sticky, so a hit on cleanliness. I noticed that they were short-staffed (at least I think it was) so maybe that's a reason for that. The only saving grace for the restaurant, and why it's three stars instead of two, is the service. The waitresses present were friendly and efficient. I was looking at other reviews afterward and sadly these are reoccurring themes.
google avatar

Mahmut E.

Yelp
It is Little Tokyo region. It has indoor and outdoor seating. I tried two different sushi and they were very big and tasty. I liked them. Service can be a little better because I had to ask for basic stuff. Restrooms were clean. Overall good place.
google avatar

Anu Z.

Yelp
Besides the waiters attitude, the food was so delicious!! I was surprised the ramen tasted so homemade it reminded me of my childhood. The chicken gyoza was also super delicious, compared to other ones I've had in LA! It was surprisingly juicy and flavorful. One thing tho, the restaurant floor seemed very dirty full of food and rice and the waiters didn't care to sweep it which takes away a bit from the ambience but overall, the food was great! The server guys don't seem as attentive unless you ask them to do something for you but maybe that's the way this restaurant works. The guy did in fact throw/slammed my ramen on the corner of the table which felt a little... weird but I'm glad my food didn't disappoint.
google avatar

Jerry M.

Yelp
Got sushi rolls to go. Overall, sort of approaching average. Ginger tasted dry and old. If you are looking for a sushi experience, its not to be found here. Ok for a roll or two on the go. No recommendation, decide for yourself.
google avatar

Lai L.

Yelp
Tonkatsu ramen -broth was too salty and tasted like knorr seasoning -ramen was not handmade but more pre-packed and undercooked Chicken karaage -why do you look like chicken tenders for me?
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Service was pretty bad, I asked for a refill on my drink like 5 times only to get ignored. Food is not bad but can get better food for the price in little Tokyo.

Mar X.

Yelp
Been coming here since the pandemic At first the service was great food on point and affordable but now don't ask for sauce Without them getting stingy on you, waiter have switched and food got Expensive. Last time I had to follow the waiter and ask for water he rolled his eyes at me..he brought the water To my table where he spilled most of it had to bring me more after having to get Up and get my own things the whole time I didn't tip him (had never done that) to which he proceeded to clap and scream (no joke) saying this is why I hate people are as we were leaving so unfortunately no more

Yelp
I just had lunch with a friend of mine at the Sushi Gala in Japanese village. First of all the ambience is perfect if you're meeting an old friend and want to have a talk over food. It's not too crowded, not too congested where you can't hear over each other. The ordering is easy. You have an iPad on your table and you just scroll through and punch through options that you would like, and then order right from the table. We had the Aloha sushi roll, followed by the salmon and the tuna sashimi. Both came quickly and boy where they delicious. Yum , Yum , Yum....Salmon and the tuna sashimi were fresh. Absolutely off the boat fresh and with the ginger slices and Wasabi and the concoction we made it was heaven. The sushi roll was also absolutely delicious. We followed it up by splitting a chicken Ramen bowl. We ordered extra spicy with extra green onions, and Matia, the server and manager of the place obliged. He was very helpful and jovial and nice to talk to. Overall a great place to have authentic Japanese sushi and rice bowl and Ramen noodle if you are into that sort of thing. Must visit if you are visiting LA downtown area.
google avatar

Tran N.

Yelp
I should have known better than getting sushi at a place that also sells burgers and sandwiches. We ordered a small sashimi, california roll, and a baked roll or whatsoever. They were terrible. Sashimi didn't taste fresh as if it had been sitting out too long. The baked rolls were whatever but I've never seen a sushi place messed up cali rolls. The filling was bland, rice was hard like the rice you put in the fridge overnight and use for fried rice. Drinks never came although that was the first thing the waitress asked after we were seated. I had to remind her about our drinks. We added another item but it never came ( thank God). Thai tea was nasty, to the trash. The other waiter was constantly in our faces trying to clean the table although we were about to leave. If his hands hadn't been in my face as I was signing the merchant copy, we would have got out faster. *** Bad service, terrible food, nasty drink. Save yourself your time and money and go somewhere else ***
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a a tourist hot spot. We ordered the party platter to share as a table and it was highly disappointing. The sashimi was very chewy and fishy, as though it had been sitting out for too long. Rolls were below grocery store quality. If you find yourself craving sushi in Little Tokyo, grab something from one of the shops instead.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Quick service. Great food. Good vibes all around. Wonderful servers such as Anthony!

Yelp
Perfect food and serves are Amazing, the manager Matia was very kind and helpful, and the server Anthny wad very educated and friendly, the food melted in my mouth, very very fresh, everyone should try this restaurant

Yelp
We enjoyed our lunch here at this spot. We were seated outside and it was the perfect spot to people watch while we ate. Its also conveniently located so it does tend to get pretty busy. The employees were friendly and attentive. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl and my friends ordered a mixture of sushi rolls. The chicken teriyaki bowl was really good and it tasted freshly made. My friends also enjoyed their sushi rolls and surprisingly ate them all. Definitely stop by for some good food if you are in the area!

Yelp
Five stars for Sushi Gala the sushi and Bento box were not only delicious but served promptly. Good food, good service, and the perfect spot for a fast yet delightful dining experience.
google avatar

Meg S.

Yelp
It was a great place to eat in a pinch in Little Tokyo. They had an array of option to choose from at a reasonable price. The place is not as much of a fancy atmosphere but it's clean. The service was amazing, the server sat us down promptly but we did have to flag their attention to get the check and to-go boxes. We ordered fries (not pictured) but they aren't anything amazing and tasted a day old. The hand rolls were sensational and the yellowtail sushi roll was good too. These are amazing to order to beat the LA heat and cool down.

Luis R.

Yelp
Great food!! Warmest welcome from host Chris !! He was very attentive and friendly. Rolls are delicious. Will definitely come back .
google avatar

Chris N.

Yelp
Great food, but beware of dining on the patio outside. While eating at the last table closest to the street, several large pieces of moldly bird poop blew off the nearby Japanese style tower and landed on our table. One tiny piece fell in my drink! I hate giving a 2 star review for this because the restaurant isn't responsible for cleaning bird droppings off the tower, but they should consider building a roof over their patio area to protect their customers' health. Eating bird feces could make someone EXTREMELY sick, or even kill them. Besides the bird feces falling in my drink (the waiter replaced it immediately) their pork cutlet curry is delicious.

Ross G.

Yelp
There is a sign by the door: please wait to be seat . We were waiting for more then 10 min , there was a family of 3 before us, they told us they been there for more than 30 min but nobody comes to help them, so one of them went to ask, she came back and said the server said they are close because they have a meeting but there was people eating inside and outside , they should put o sign letting customers know , really bad service , no customer service
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
This restaurant is overall pretty mid. The ambiance and atmosphere was pretty generic for a sushi restaurant in Little Tokyo. The mozzarella sticks were alright. Good cheese pull, but came with ranch which was pretty uncommon and not my personal preference. My friend, who is allergic to fish, did enjoy the veggie roll and I didn't try it so I can't really comment on that, but the baja california roll was just pretty lack luster. The major pluses is there is a 2 hour validation for the plaza parking, it's air conditioned, and provides free water. However, the service wasn't too great since we usually had to flag them over to ask for anything and they never really checked up on our table despite not being too busy.
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
I stopped by with my family on the weekend after an evening of walking around Little Tokyo we were hungry and all the restaurants have long waits. The server checked our vaccination cards and seated us inside the restaurant. My dad loves baked rolls, so we ordered all of the ones on the menu and some sashimi for my mom. The baked rolls are pretty good and we enjoyed them. The sashimi is mediocre, and good for the price.. To be honest, I was pretty hesitant to order sashimi at first after reading the reviews, but it turned out decent! The service was friendly and overall it was a smooth experience dining here. It's not a place where I would bring a date, but for a fast meal without waiting in line, it think it's not bad for a quick lunch/dinner stop.

Yelp
Went in on a Thursday evening. My cousin was visiting from Chicago and we were looking for some good to eat around Little Tokyo. After walking around trying to choose a place we came across Las Galas and this is my review. The tempura veggies were delish! They were nice and crispy. I'm not a sushi person but my cousin certainly is and he stated that the sushi rolls were delicious. He rated them 7/10. I'm guessing it has to do with the flavor. The teriyaki chicken bowl is 6/10. I think the chicken could be more flavorful. It's filling for sure. Also, don't get the Thai tea. It tasted like horchata (rice water). It wasn't good. I ended up getting a coke. We paid $10 for parking somewhere down the street from the main Little Tokyo center.

Yelp
We came in right before they closed and they sat us right away. Our server was nice enough to let my son eat his "outside" food in the patio area and he gave us recommendations for near by places to try! Service was great and the food was good even though they were about done for the night it still tasted fresh and delicious. We will definitely be going back to try their other dishes! :)
