We came here for a date night and had the Omakase dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, and we had a great time. Each dish was fresh and beautifully prepared. The staff was incredibly friendly and even surprised us with a free drink, which made the night feel extra special. Highly recommend for a relaxed and memorable sushi experience

We came to celebrate my husband's birthday, and Sushi Hon did not dissapoint! From start to finish, it was an absolutely wonderful culinary adventure. We loved talking to the Chef throughout our meal. He was so down to earth and knowledgeable about each fish he served us. The entire staff treated us so warmly and made the experience the type of culinary experience you come back for. It was the perfect place to spend a special occasion!

My go to omakase spot in SF. We came here for a second time for a friend’s birthday - could not rave more about the incredible selection, quality of nigiri and dishes, and attentive service. We can’t wait to come back!

Sushi Hon delivers an exceptional dining experience! We sat at the sushi bar, and it was an absolute treat to watch the chefs expertly prepare each dish with such precision and artistry. The fish was unbelievably fresh, and every bite was bursting with vibrant flavors. The presentation was impeccable – each plate was a miniature masterpiece. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a refined yet inviting ambiance that adds to the overall experience. The warm and attentive service made us feel welcome and ensured every detail of our meal was perfect. If you're in search of delicious sushi, stunning presentation, and the unique experience of seeing your food prepared right in front of you, Sushi Hon is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

One of the best omakase in SF, very cool space and Chef Yong is a true craftsman. His hand roll and wagyu blew me away. Great beverage pairing! Discovered mio sparkling sake. Must visit.

Sushi Hon in San Francisco is an amazing gem nestled in the heart of mission District, offering an unforgettable culinary journey for sushi enthusiasts. From the moment you enter, you're greeted with a warm ambiance that blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comfort. I've been to many sushi restaurants in SF and every dish was truly wonderful. The attention to detail at Sushi Hon is evident in every aspect of the dining experience. The decor is sleek yet cozy, with subtle nods to Japanese culture through carefully chosen artwork and furnishings. The intimate seating arrangement ensures that each guest receives personalized attention from the attentive and knowledgeable. My favorites of the night are: Zuke Chu-Toro ,Bincho tataki , Zuke masunozuke ( I would eat 100 of these if I could!) The food was beyond fresh, each piece a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. The staff “GG” was attentive, knowledgeable, and made my dining experience truly memorable. Especially “Chef Yong! “ He is really friendly, kind and accommodating. He explained me in every single detail of sushi. Great for special occasions or if you just want an amazing meal. Definitely a must-visit for sushi connoisseurs.

Google
Omakase experience. Excellent food and conversation. The chef was detailed in the food, region the food was sourced from, and why they were ordered in the experience. Our host provided a lot of detail on each sake before pouring. Pricy but the entire dinner was ~2.5 hours and unrushed. Totally of about 18 distinct dishes so it felt like a good value all things considered.

Romantic and chilling dinner vibes! We went there for the date night and the experience was great. The services is phenomenon because the server is so helpful and active. The food was great overall. A bit disappointed for the Uni that it would be Bafun Uni (Hokkaido) but got the Santa Barbara one. Overall, great experience with great food.

Yelp

Yelp
My bf brought me here for our anniversary recently, and we had a great experience. This was my first omakase, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. We came on a Tuesday evening and sat at the bar with two other parties, one other couple and a group of three. We were the only ones in the restaurant for most of the meal, which made for a very intimate and cozy dinner. My bf and I added the premium supplement, which included uni (from Hokkaido), o toro, and A5 wagyu, on top of the 19-course meal. All of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The rice to fish ratio for the nigiri was perfect, with more fish than rice. A lot of the fish was so fresh and tender that it almost melted in my mouth. I loved it. While I loved all of the courses, my favorites would have to be the Masunosuke, A5 Wagyu, and Kinako Panna Cotta. I'm a big fan of salmon, so the Masunosuke was an obvious favorite. The A5 Wagyu was incredible - the smoky flavor from it being seared and the truffle flakes on top were chef's kiss. Lastly, the panna cotta was so, so delicious. It was nostalgic because it reminded me of the soybean milk I used to drink as a kid. It was also unique because it contained soybean instead of regular milk/heavy cream. Overall, we had a wonderful time here!

Yelp
It looks the part of a Michelin star meal, but lacks any real substance. For the price you're paying, it's just not worth it; there are superior places you can go to for a more succulent and decadent omakase experience. Having been here twice now, I can't see myself giving this place another chance.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE -- most inconsiderate restaurant. We had reservations for this restaurant via open Table at 930 pm on December 24 -- Christmas Eve! Upon arriving at the restaurant, the manager said they were closed (even though the door was open and the sign outside said OPEN). I said that we had a 9:30 pm reservation and that it was confirmed. The guy just looked at me and said "Oh, we decided to close. Sorry" and I said, "it's Christmas Eve and we have a confirmed reservation and you're not honoring the reservation?" So we just left after spending a $15 Uber ride to and a $15 Uber ride from the place back to our hotel. Plus the guy lied and said he didn't have our reservation. Minutes after leaving the restaurant, the restaurant CANCELLED our reservation. So dishonest. We were happy not to eat there because there was a roach on the wall when we were leaving. Obviously a sign not to eat there. Don't waste your time patronizing an inconsiderate business. That's my advice to fellow Yelpers. Pass on this place.

Yelp
Visited Sushi Hon to try their omakase menu. We received a variety of high quality and delicious items for a reasonable price of $135. There were 17 courses served with the option to add on a "premium supplement" or order off of the a la carte menu. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful time talking to the chef. In addition to introducing each course, he would also let us know where the ingredient is sourced from. The service was wonderful and the bar seating was spacious.

Yelp
Second time at Sushi Hon! Both experiences were similar and they have amazing service along with high grade sashimi they serve! Last weekend, I took my friend for her first time ever lunch omakase. Surprisingly the two of us were only ones there at the restaurant so it made it extra special and we got to talk to the chef! (Sorry forgot his name) The chef made the whole experience a fun and interesting one as it was my friend's first time having omakase! We overall enjoyed our lunch and my friend had an amazing time experiencing her first omakase at Sushi Hon! Dinner also was amazing from what I experienced as well previously. There is more things on the dinner menu but lunch was delicious regardless with a smaller menu! Gochisousama!

Yelp
Came for my birthday celebration omakase and I just have one word- amazing! The staff and chef is so friendly and kind and was so knowledgeable about the sushi as well as their drink pairing. The restaurant has a very nice and cozy ambiance. The price for omakase is value for money.

Yelp
I visited San Francisco this weekend with my girlfriend for Valentines and she surprised me with a reservation here at Sushi Hon! The omakase was excellent! The sushi rice is incredible and the quality of the nigiri was so special. We wanted to thank Chef Yong for his kindness and amazing hospitality and service. This will be the first spot we come back to on our next trip to SF! 너무 맛있었어요, 용 셰프님! 이 오마카세를 준비하시면서 들어간 정성과 손님들을 위한 따뜻한 마음이 느껴져서 더욱더 잊지못할 특별한 경험이 되었어요. 감사합니다!!

Yelp
I'm a firm believer in sushi rice being as important, if not more so, than the fish, and I was a big fan of how they make it at Sushi Hon. Chef Yong proudly declared that he washes the rice for an hour the night before to remove extra starch. Combined with a bold dark-light vinegar ratio, I thought that the perfectly defined rice grains and bright acid made for an incredible nigiri base. Though I am team vinegar, I could see their liberal use being a bit much for certain palates. The mozuku starter, for example, was silky seaweed strands in a sweet vinegar broth that was like a refined gut shot. And a decadent uni and chopped toro rice bowl supplement shared the stage equally with the tangy vinegar rice. No complaints from my sour-loving palate though. Let's not forget the nigiri. Some highlights for me included the hotate, or fresh scallop from Hokkaido, carefully scored to yield both a visually impressive and textured bite. Seared 14-day aged toro (fatty tuna) and A5 wagyu nigiris, perfectly melted in their respective fatty goodness. And the engawa (fluke fin) nigiri supplement had a nice snappy chew to it. After the many nigiri courses, an early summer corn tomato jelly "ceviche" was a refreshing palette cleanser. And dessert was a creamy, but not too sweet, kinako panna cotta that had a savory touch from the toasted soybean. The inviting counter service from Chef Yong also made the meal more memorable. He enthusiastically shared his sushi knowledge and preparation details, and his proud, yet humble energy was infectious. He also excitedly gave us a taste of the in-house MG rice lager. Dinner edomae omakase starts at $135 for 18 dishes, 10 of which are nigiri. And I appreciated that the omakase menu was actually printed out beforehand so you could plan and pace yourself. Sushi Hon also offers a smaller lunch omakase for $65, and they do delivery as well.

Yelp
My boyfriend brought me here yesterday for my birthday and I was blown away. It was such a pleasant experience and my first time trying omakase. I particularly liked the hotate, toro temaki, o toro, A5 Wagyu among others. All the fish was very fresh and absolutely delicious! The server was very attentive and courteous. They also brought out a small cheesecake for my birthday. What a pleasant surprise. At the end they serve a delightful Yuba Agedashi Miso soup and panna cotta for dessert. Highly recommend checking out Sushi Hon if you would like omakase.

Yelp
Dined at Sushi Hon last night and it's nothing short of a culinary journey. Each dish was meticulously prepared and presented, it's an intimate showcase of chef Yong's artistry and expertise. The ingredients are of the highest quality, the pacing is just right and service was impeccable (shout out to Mac & Gigi, thank you guys so much!). We added the premium supplement which was so worth it. My favorites was the wild winter yellowtail sashimi, the toro-taku hand roll, hokkaido uni and of course the otoro. 22 course omakase for $170 is a steal for such a memorable experience, we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wow wow wow! Such a delicious and quaint experience we had for Suhi Hon's omakase. Expensive but absolutely worth it. Came with a few friends last week and did their 19 course (20 with the Wagyu supplement) omakase. It was delicious. I had never really had a proper omakase (only lunch really) and this was quite the experience. Everything was carefully picked and perfectly crafted! Standouts were the things I took pictures of!

Yelp
Always wanted to try an omakase experience, so I was happy the girls were down. Everything we had was delicious. You can tell the chef specially curated each course and had yummy palette cleansers. Yelp
I've been to many omakase dining experiences--and experienced both mid- to high-end menus--but nothing blows me out of the water like Sushi Hon did. My boyfriend made a reservation here for our first anniversary and it truly was the perfect way to wrap up the night. Located in a quiet corner of the Mission District, parking was relatively easy to find. Upon arriving, we were immediately greeted and seated by a polite gentleman in a suit. The restaurant was dimly lit and nicely furnished, setting an intimate yet upscale ambiance. Both table and bar seating are available. Water and menus were promptly served. Before looking at the menu, I left to use the restroom, leaving my unfolded napkin and chopsticks sprawled across the table (oops, sorry!). I came back to find my chopsticks neatly tucked into my folded napkin. The same gentleman who greeted us hovered at our table, ready to re-seat me. Impressive. We placed our orders and patiently waited--truly unprepared for the life-changing experience that was to come. Dramatic? Na, just honest. Every served morsel tasted like heaven. With every bite, I reveled in how beautifully the fish melted in my mouth, how the flavors blended so perfectly, and how much variety there was for me to experience. Also, the rice was nicely seasoned with soy sauce so additional dipping would be an insult! My faves were the scallop, sea bream, salmon, and wagyu ribeye. Halfway through our course, I noticed the restaurant beginning to fill up quickly, but the staff kept up with everyone's pacing--never missing the next order for any table. Phenomenal customer service. Price for this course is in line with other high-end omakase dinners I've tried, maybe a little more expensive considering they charge a 20% service fee on top of everything--but I would come back in a heartbeat. The experience is priceless. Unless I find another omakase experience that tops this, Sushi Hon will always be my go-to.

Yelp
My very first Omakase's experience is exceptional! My server Gianna was great giving all the details on what they're serving. Chef Yong was knowledgeable as a great omakase's chef could be! Everything was so fresh and delicious! A5 wagyu nigiri was just melt in my mouth and out of this world delicious, just order it! I had such a great time. My first omakase and won't the be the last for sure! Thank you, sushi hon!

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here tonight and this place did not disappoint. Sat at the bar with impeccable service. Food 5/5 Attentiveness 5/5 Service 5/5 Value 5/5 Definitely will be coming back. Thank you sushi hon!

Yelp
Every single fish we were served was sumptuous and had an incredible buttery texture. The rice was also seasoned perfectly, which delighted my taste buds with each bite. The service was also top notch. They took care of our coats, were thorough explaining our courses, and we never went low on libations. The restaurant itself was tucked in a nice neighborhood with ample street parking. It had a modern, intimate aesthetic where you have choices to sit at the bar or a table.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the more affordable-ish omakase restaurants in SF and it's a bigger space so we've always been able to get a last minute table, but recommend making a reservation if you want to sit at the counter. It's a sister restaurant to Sushi Shio which is also great! The sushi is consistently high quality and you get enough to feel full by the end without having to add-on. The sake pairing had a few interesting glasses but not a must-do. Service is consistently prompt and courteous.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate a late Valentine's Day by coming to omakase. Sushi Hon is pretty discrete, there's no sign outside the restaurant announcing its location. We made reservations through OpenTable and were seated at the sushi counter. There's only one menu and they immediately start you on the courses. You get some appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, miso soup, and dessert. My favorites of the night included: *kelp cured Red Sea bream *smoke seared albacore with black truffle: so good! The truffle, onions, and ponzu sauce worked so well together *toro (fatty tuna): probably my favorite nigiri, the perfect combination of buttery fish and flavor Gratuity is automatically included in the price. For the amount of food, quality, and service, it was definitely worth the experience.

Yelp
Be sure to read to the end. I went here at my daughter's recommendation because she saw an Instagram video and was blown away by all the pictures and how much food you get for their omakase. What I didn't realized at the time was that I actually ate here many years ago when it first opened. Happy to say that things took a turn for the better and we love this restaurant now. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Omakase in San Francisco can get expensive but for $125, we had multiple starters, then a selection of nigiri followed by a hot dish and then more nigiri! I can see why my daughter wanted to come here based on the instagram post. The only thing that wasn't as impressive was the sake pairing. It is really rare for me to not like at least one of the sake I'm trying but that is the case as most of the sake was overtly sweet. Anyways, I got to chatting with the chef and told him that Sushi Hon was almost as good as our last favorite sushi restaurant in San Francisco. He asked me which one and I told him, Sato Omakase and he told me that he also own that restaurant. I said, "Wait, you're Min of the Mins Group?" Turns out the humble dude serving us the whole night is the CEO, Min Choe. He said he likes to come to help out sometimes at his restaurants. Wow, glad we picked the right time and place to try this sushi restaurant again!

Yelp
I have been here twice now and honestly don't know why this isn't more busy because the quality of the fish is consistently excellent. The vibe of the restaurant is classy but laid back. The service is very attentive. They noticed my friend was left-handed and started plating her fish in the opposite order to accommodate her. Every piece of fish in the omakase is so good. Each one is described as being marinated in different things, so the texture and flavors of the fish are unique. The soybean panna cotta dessert is light but tasty. The only thing I would ask would maybe be to change up the appetizer and dessert since it was the same both times that I went. Overall I would definitely recommend this place for omakase.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
This place is exactly what we'd imagine a nice neighborhood omakase spot to be! It's low key, but so thoughtfully decorated. The maitre d also is the server, and gives such detailed explanations of each nigiri. Each piece feels so artfully presented, and we loved the table experience. Each piece was delicious, subtle, and cohesive. Would absolutely go back, and pricing felt fair for the area.

Yelp
I've had my fair share of omakase experiences, but all have paled in comparison to Sushi Hon. Factoring in both taste, quality, and price, Sushi Hon bats a 1000 on all fronts, offering sensational sushi course after course, every morsel somehow better than the last. My favorites were the Wagyu, O-toro, and Uni (no surprise here) as these were the most expensive nigiris during the flight. Usually, these pieces are only offered as supplements to the existing menu, but Sushi Hon refreshingly offers them free of charge without the hefty price tag attached. I will say the supplemental Don was okay. Nothing to complain about, but the Uni courses provided with the regular set menu already give you a sufficient amount of high-quality Uni. Sushi Hon truly is the paragon of sushi. I'm often not a fan of uni (a sacrilege, I know), but Sushi Hon's was a religious experience, and I'm now a believer. Incredibly rich and mildly briny, the sea urchin tasted just shy of pure butter. For $125, worth every dang penny.

Yelp
I've eaten at Sushi Hon about a dozen times since 2019 and ordered delivery during pandemic. Never less than a five star experience. Delicious, fresh, impeccable service - always inventive. Always interesting. Always friendly staff always remarkably convenient to get a reservation. I'm secretly glad that more people don't know about this place but everybody I've referred here thanks me incessantly for the remarkable recommendation.

Yelp
My friend and I went there on Septmeber 22, 2023. Our exclusive omakase menu included - 1. Uni tofu 2. Nasu agedashi (deep-fried egg plant) 3. Toro tartare 4. Mozuku (silky seaweed) 5. Kobujime Hirame (halibut) 6. Shima Aji (yellow jack) 7. Hotate (live scallop) 8. Ji-kinmedai (golden eye snapper) 9. Umimasu (ocean trout) 10. Bincho tataki (seared albacore) 11. Kamasu (Japanese baracuda) 12. Kanpachi (amberjack) 13. Tsuri-aji (horse mackerel) 14. Zuke chu Toro (fatty tuna) 15. Uni (sea urchin) 16. Gourmet tomato ceviche 17. Yuba akadashi (miso soup) 18. Kinako Panna cotta (soy bean Panna cotta) I also added their $35 supplement, which included 3 more items- 1. Umimasu Toro with caviar 2. Uni 3. A-5 wagyu with black truffle Each and every fish was fresh. Each nigiri had just the right amount of wasabi on it, so it didn't feel overpowering. The cut of the fish on some of the nigiris was small compared to the others that we tried. Uni was a bit inconsistent and underwhelming. The first uni dish we tried was great, but subsequent uni dishes, felt very fishy, and had a slight bitterness towards the end. Our sushi chef tried explaining some of the dishes, but we could barely hear and understand him because of his mask and the conversation that the couple next to us was having. Our personal favorite items were - Umimasu, Toro tartare, uni tofu, zuke chu Toro, umimasu Toro, and A-5 wagyu. The Panna cotta had mild flavors, and the rice puffs and pistachios actually masked all the flavor. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. He did an amazing job explaining every dish that he brought and weren't prepared by the sushi chef. The restaurant interior has a lot of Japanese influence. Dim lighting and an almost empty restaurant (us and one other couple were the only 2 parties at the restaurant) made for a cozy and private dining experience. Overall, it was a good experience.

Yelp
4.5 stars - came for a celebratory dinner recently and really enjoyed our evening. The service was impeccable - our server was careful to ensure we enjoyed every aspect of our meal and was so polite and attentive (even re-folding our napkin when we had to get up to use the restroom!) I also liked the setting - spacious, clean, and open. We sat at the sushi bar for the full omakase experience so we could watch all the sushi being prepared right in front of us. The highlight of course was the fish - that melt-in-your-mouth perfect fresh flavor (I discovered a new favorite for myself, the amberjack!) I will be slightly nitpicky (because at this $$$$ price point I have to) and just mention that I was a little disappointed at two points during the meal - first, my snow crab dashi soup had a tiny piece of shell in the dish, and second, at one point our chef seemed to accidentally skip over one of the dishes in the menu and we had to remind him that we hadn't had one of the fish yet. But overall, a great special-occasion restaurant experience!

Yelp
I was so excited to try Sushi Hon again after so many years. The ambiance is pretty causal and comfy in compare to high end sushi bars. I'd say it's a nice place for dates, birthdays or a small gathering. Service was very attentive. Although I didn't get greeted upon arrival but the waiters were very friendly. They would check back and forth to make sure you are being helped. Fish was fresh and amazing quality, each dish has its own uniqueness. Toro was juicy and buttery, and uni just melts in your mouth (I'm not a big Uni person usually) I love how the sushi chef prepared and explained each dish in details. Everything was presented nicely and went well together. So why not a 5? I felt there was slightly more wasabi in each dish than I expected. I don't mind wasabi normally but it was a bit too much for me personally.

Yelp
Delicious sushi and sleek industrial ambiance. Excellent omakase and discovered a new favorite sake: Akabu Gold Samurai. Crisp with a clean aftertaste. Great spot for a fancy sushi date! Also in a quieter part of mission so don't have to worry about street noise.

Yelp
Trust me when I say that this place is incredible. Best sushi I've ever had. Recommend sitting at sushi counter to get the most out of your experience and to meet the head sushi chef who will walk you through the prefixe menu. We did the sake pairing which was a lot of fun with four very unique and different sakes. They took great care of us and made sure we had a wonderful celebratory meal for my bday.

Yelp
Fresh ingredients, nice atmosphere, very attentive service. Good selection of wines and sakes.

Yelp
This place is value! Definitely a place I would go back to over and over again and recommend to anyone who might listen. Their lunch special is PHENOMENAL. The fish is fresh and the rice is out of this world!

Yelp
Excellent Omakase/Pre Fixe experience. This a hidden gem with fantastic flavors and fresh ingredients. We enjoyed the service as well. Great atmosphere for a special night or just looking to treat yourself

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite sushi places in sf, however unfortunately, I got really disappointed with my latest visit. The food quality dropped significantly The first couple appetizers were extremely salty dry, the crab meat was not from fresh crab, it's clearly pre-frozen and there were shell pieces inside.. The chiefs service was a mess too, I saw he gave the couple next to us two same pieces in a row and they were really confused..which he was supposed to serve a different piece.. The dessert was served with miso soup, which was really weird too. I probably won't come back, considering the price also increased about 20%..

Yelp
I was treated to the Exclusive Omakase at Sushi Hon for my last birthday however I've been lagging on posting this review, maybe subconsciously gate keeping but I was distracted with other priorities. Parking is not easy but we lucked out with street parking half a block away. The restaurant has a very humble facade and front entry, if you aren't looking for it the restaurant blends into the urban neighborhood that's bordered by the Mission and Potrero Hill. Stepping inside to a friendly greeting, we were seated at the sushi bar. We eagerly watched the chefs masterfully preparing every serving before it was presented to us with a brief description of each dish. Our server picked up on the fact that my son is left-handed and accommodated this by bringing the food and his utensils from the left. Little actions like this elevate the service for their thoughtfulness. Their sushi and other dishes, like the tsuri-aji, bincho tataki, and tomato ceviche are superb. I loved the different textures and flavors of the ceviche, which was a refreshing interlude between sushi and yuba akadashi. I swooned over their kinako panna cotta and the matcha cheesecake, which was a surprise birthday extra. As some other reviewers mentioned, Sushi Hon seems to fly low under the radar so maybe other people have been gate keeping too but I hope this changes because it deserves more love.

Yelp
I will start by saying the location is easily missable. It's in a neighborhood by a school and parking was incredibly difficult. We circled around a few times before seeing someone leaving their spot. Upon arrival we were greeted and offered either sparkling or regular water. Each and every course was explained and were delicious. There were so many different types of fish and tastes offered that I cannot describe it any other way than delicious. I must say, I looked forward most to their Panna cotta and it did not disappoint. Still my favorite dish of the night. I have also never had a full piece of Uni the way I did here before. This is a really fancy place where you are offered excellent service. Not a first date type of place but more of a 1st anniversary kind of celebration. 20% gratuities are already added on the bill and well worth the service and experience. Must have reservations, it's not like it's a walk in kind of price tag place.

Yelp
I was so excited to try Sushi Hon's omakase for my birthday dinner. The ambiance is pretty standard. It's not really fancy inside which was fine with me because I was more concerned with how the food tasted. The service was attentive. One of the waiters saw me taking photos of my nigiri and was nice enough to show me how to get better angles of the food lol. The fish was fresh and good quality. I was happy with how many courses there were because there was a nice amount of variety. The standout fishes were the toro and the king salmon. I must admit that not all the fish blew me away. There was quite a few white fish nigiri that didn't have much flavor. Usually, I'm not a big uni fan, but the uni here was the best I'd ever had. It was sweet and creamy. The uni was delicious in the nigiri and with the tofu. We added on the chef 3 piece supplement with A5 wagyu, sea bass with caviar, and uni. They were all to die for and worth the add on. The panna cotta with toasted rice and the green tea was the perfect sweet end to the meal. I left the restaurant full which is not always the case at omakase. Give Sushi Hon a try if you want a delicious Omakase experience!

Yelp
Had a great omakase dinner for the first time here. I've tried and tasted countless of omakases over many decades and this place is definitely a top 5 best of mine.

Yelp
Quietly indulged in this omakase experience. The interior design felt so minimal, traditional yet modern, and intimate. Loved the table aesthetics. I realized that lighting is underrated. Because although it seemed dim in person, the pictures of the food turned out pristine and did it all justice. All I can say was that every dish HIT. They did not miss a single one. I requested no wasabi on one, but when I ate it I realized there was actually wasabi. I let them know and they came out with another piece for me that was even better to make up for it. Everyone here was so lovely. They even offered us complementary yuzu wine, which paired perfectly with the heavenly dessert. I dream of dining here again. It did feel very formal and elevated, so not my type of first date - but I wasn't here for that :)

Yelp
The good: easy street parking, service, ambiance. The bad: the omakase. My husband and I had dinner here over the weekend. We found almost every item to be overly salty or flavorless. The natural flavor of the fish was not enhanced, only masked by the amount of soy sauce and wasabi used by the sushi chefs. The only items we liked from the meal were the uni, amaebi, and chu-toro. For a significantly better omakase, I'd recommend Hinata. Heck, Ebiko in Oakland does better with their daily omakase and they are a takeout only spot!

Yelp
Their omakase set was really good. Usually, there are some pieces I'm not a fan of but I enjoyed every course. The sushi rice was slightly overcooked but I didn't mind too much since there was just the right amount of wasabi. The otoro and uni were my favorite and one of the highest quality pieces I've ever had. The soybean panna cotta was also addicting.

Yelp
This place is great if you like Tokyo style omakase. Really great service and nice and quiet atmosphere. Our family enjoyed the experience together very much.

Yelp
This is actually a review of our second time here ( this is also the only place in SF we've been to a second time, so that should say something). Fish has been super fresh and delicious both times we've went, so ive decided im just gonna post some highlights. seared yellowtail with black truffle: this dish was sooooo good. the yellowtail was super good with the sauce, and the truffle added this amazing flavor complexity to each bite soy bean panna cotta: our second time trying this dish. it alwaysssss hits. the panna cotta is super smooth and the soy bean has this nice toasted flavor.

Yelp
Amazing omakase experience.! I came here for my little sisters 17th birthday and it was wonderful. The service was amazing and the food came out in a timely manner. I also loved the intimate setting. We had ordered the omakase. I loved how they prepared and cured each fish. I'm usually not a fan of certain fishes because of the fishiness, but I was so blown away by the taste and texture of each fish. My favorite appetizer was the toro tartare, so delicious especially in the ponzu sauce. The medai, spanish mackerel and scallop was my favorite. I loved details and the firmess of each fish. Every piece just melted in my mouth. We ended the night with a panna cotta and loved the little rice crisps added. We're we're so full in the end of the night. We had a great experience and will definitely be back!

Yelp
First omakase experience ever and I'm glad I did it at Sushi Hon! Reservations were easy to make through Yelp. Upon walking in they helped us place our bags away, and they even accommodated my friend's plate setting for his lefthandeness, truly testaments to the great and considerate service! The omakase courses were incredible, the seafood felt very fresh. The panna cotta at the end was to die for, and im someone who generally doesn't like pistachios. Highly recommend if you're looking to try omakase for the first time!

Yelp
We came in for my boyfriends birthday. It was our first omakase experience and it was impeccable. 10/10 chef's kiss from start to finish. Omakase experience starts at $115 per person, with options of adding chefs supplements for an additional $40. Includes 15 courses, but realistically, we were served 19 courses in total. The amount and portions were perfect for us. Our favorites were the Toro- fatty tuna(buttery to perfection), and the Akamutsu- rosy sea bass (the slight torch on the top was the perfect touch to the bite). Superb! Definitely resonates with us still. 10/10 recommend. The servers were super attentive too, which we appreciated. We booked for a 6:30pm rsvp on a Friday night, however, we received notification earlier around 5:45 indicating our reservation was ready if we wanted to check in. Which was great, because we could tell that the later we arrived, it probably would have been a little difficult to find parking. It's in a residential area so there's no designated parking. Also the sign of the restaurant could be missed if you don't pay attention. Automatic 20% is included to bill for service charge.

Yelp
My favorite spot for omakase sushi. Very good quality and not overly priced compared to to other omakase in the city
