Incredible restaurant in Polanco. Probably the best I had outside of Japan . Great service, proper atmosphere and amazing food. Not cheap, but the chef guided am outstanding omakaze - very careful with gluten items as I’m celiac and they were able to accommodate. Extra kudos to the white fish selection, otoro and mocchi

My friend and I had a serious sushi craving, but sadly, this place didn’t hit the spot—at least not for me. I love sushi and have tried it at so many places, so I had high hopes. For the price, I was expecting something more flavorful, more memorable… just more. It wasn’t bad, but definitely not something I’d rush back for. On the bright side, the service was genuinely great—friendly and attentive. I didn’t enjoy watching them make sushi with their hands. 🤢I know they have to use their hands, but it wasn’t fun to actually see it.

Well, All I can say is this food is delightful. Fresh fish and perfect products. You can feel this Nigiris are quite a thing. Service is nice, the people over here are really courteous. The price of the nigiris start from $70 pesos which is about $4 USD to $300 pesos per nigiri. You can add different toppings such as caviar, Truffle and foie gras and that’s about $200 more. I totally recommend this restaurant as you may not find something as fresh. Ps. You May do a reservation or just be sure you get there on a really good time.

I visited for the first time 2 years ago and had to revisit on my trip back to CDMX. Incredible sushi! My favorite is the ikura and anything with the foie gras.

I was extremely surprised to see the high ratings for this restaurant. From the reviews, ambience and price, I had very high expectations for this restaurant. To start on a positive note, the interior is very nice and looks like a high-end sushi restaurant. Very similar design to Kobayashi Gohan. The quality of the sushi is good and you can tell it is run by Japanese. The vinegar used in the rice was a perfect balance which is pretty rare for sushi served here. I was greatly disappointed in the attitude of the staffs, the size of the sushi and the price. We (2 ppl) had a small portion of food and it was over c.USD100. The slices of fish on the sushi were the smallest pieces I have ever seen. On top of that, the staffs were all chatting and gossiping and their behavior did not match the ambience of the restaurant at all. If they are aiming to be a 'high-end' sushi restaurant they should train their staffs to be professional. We had to remind the guy twice on our order. They were busy chatting and took them forever to prepare each dish. There was only one other couple so it wasn't a busy day at all... Under the same 'Edo Kobayashi' group of restaurants, I have been to Kobayashi Gohan several times. Kobayashi Gohan has incredible food and staffs. I was expecting a lot more from Sushi Iwashi knowing how incredible Kobayashi is but they failed miserably. Will never come back here and would not recommend it to anyone. ネタの質は高いですが、ネタの大きさ、スタッフの対応、またそれらに全く相応しない価格帯がとても残念でした。同じEdo Kobashi傘下のKobayashi Gohanは大変おすすめです。

Authentic Japanese sushi with super high end raw materials. Classical Nigiri 🍣 with amazing fish, one of the best Nigiri sushi ever. Personal and nice service.

Yelp
Sushi Iwashi in Mexico City is a must-visit! My favorite bite was the oyster, incredibly fresh and flavorful. The hand rolls were insane, and the sashimi was honestly the freshest I've ever tasted. The nigiri options were endless, and each one was chefs kiss. I loved the omakase style, which allowed the chefs to guide us through a delicious journey. We paired everything with sake and vino, which perfectly set the vibe. The service was impeccable, the chefs made us feel so welcome and recommended all the best bites, while the servers were super attentive. Can't wait to go back! P.s they have a spot at the airport too, so if you don't get a chance to try it in the city don't miss out at the airport!

Yelp
It seems weird that we had sushi in Mexico City, but we were looking for something different for dinner one evening while staying in Polanco. The space was very small and understated & the food was fantastic. We were a group of four and enjoyed everything we ordered. We paired our dinner with white wine which was also good. We did order a few items that we weren't served and showed on our bill but were promptly removed along with an apology from the chef.

Yelp
Excelente lugar de sushi en Polanco. Hecho a mano en el momento y bien fresco, tienen muy buenas variedades. Recomendable sentarse en la barra y no afuera.

Yelp
I was blown away with the taste and quality of the nigiri. Both fish and rice were moist which gave the texture great consistency and flavor. The nigiri reminded me of Sugarfish in the US for any Sugarfish fans. I had the eel, toro, salmon, lean tuna, shrimp and was delightfully happy I dined here. I had the toro hand roll as well and it met my expectation. I saw photos from other reviews of what looked like black cod but the sushi chef told me there was no cod on the lunch menu. I'm in CDMX for several more days so will come back hopefully during dinner to see if they serve black cod.

Yelp
Overrated. Overpriced. Thin cut pieces. Poor service. Fish is decent quality. Place is austere and classic.

Yelp
Definitely great quality fish and seafood. Their speciality are nigiris. Unfortunately it's very expensive and has a limited menu. I honestly left the place hungry and ready for a second dinner, having paid $100 for little food. Probably won't be returning.

Yelp
Incredible sushi experience. It is expensive but I love every bit about it. Its super tasty, the fish quality is great and the staff is the best. I am a usual, and every time I go its great. You do have to contemplate that its always busy, so get there early or later than usual.

Yelp
Fantastic place for 2-5 bites of sushi. Definitely would take the under on 5. But like a great 2-5 bites.

Yelp
This is the most pretentious sushi bar I've ever been to... and I've been to a bunch in many different cities around the world. The most important thing is that their sushi is nothing special, and the menu is really narrow. Not many types of fish to choose from. But then you have the little details that make a restaurant experience better or, as in this case, definitely worse. We got there one hour after they opened, and they had already run out of tuna! (When I asked how was that even possible, they told me that it was probably because of how good it was... instead of acknowledging their poor planning for the night). The staff communicate using some Japanese words out loud (but they are all Mexican... it's embarrassing!). When I asked for a spoon to eat my soup they said, in a very condescending tone, that they only have small spoons... Next time in Mexico City, I know where not to go!
