The Sushi Rei was a disappointment. The sushi was just okay. Nothing special, and it was expensive. The restaurant itself has a nice sushi bar and atmosphere. The service was good and attentive. The presentation of the sushi was enticing, but the flavors of the sushi were missing.

It's alright. I'm not holding the restaurant largely accountable for being understaffed since almost every restaurant in this town has the same problem, but it was annoying to have to wait a while to get a server. At least the food came out relatively quickly. The sushi tastes pretty good, however I reccomend they diversify the menu if they can. I'm not a fan of tuna, and about every one of their main rolls has tuna in it. The price is fair for the portions you get.

We made a reservation at 8:15 and got seated at 8:25 even though other walk ins were seated before us. The apetizer came after the rolls. We also ordered two salmon sashimis and got it on one plate. We didn't know it was on one plate so one person just ate all of it. The service is really slow too. It seems they had to go buy a salmon from a store and bring it back to the restaurant to prepare it for us. The food was okay.

Service was slow, some of the food was mediocre, and the sushi is absolutely horrible I could barely even swallow it because it was so disgusting and fishy. My girlfriend and I are big sushi fans, and everything about the sushi was terrible. The rice was hard, and the fish, fishy. We thought we’d give it a try, instead of Samurai but that was a huge mistake. Do not recommend. Will NOT be coming back.

The quality was horrible, (the rice was dry and fish was overcooked) the service was slow, and was extremely overpriced. ($17 for 6 small, stale california rolls)
Overall.. If you have good taste in sushi, skip this place.

Awful food and terrible front of house service. We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation and were told we needed to wait a few minutes, so we stepped to the side and proceeded to watch the host (literally two-feet away and within direct eyeline) then seat 2 sets of walk-ins who arrived after us. 15 minutes after our reservation was to have started, we checked with him again and he said "Oh! Yeah, um, we'll get a table ready for you". He had clearly forgotten us. The house manager tried to apologize by making lots of bad excuses and then telling us that the sushi chefs were behind and it would be 45-60 minutes for us to get sushi. We should have left at this point but we were hungry and tired. Our server was a nice lady who seemed like she was the glue holding this maelstrom of a restaurant together. She apologetically informed us that they were also out of hot sake. - Really? This is a ski town! - At the suggestion of the manager to order hot food while waiting for our sushi, I ordered the pork ramen. It arrived, 15 minutes after the first sushi roll, and was beyond gross. The pork was greasy, fatty, and cooked in something that tasted like rancid sugar. They also forgot the egg - it's Ramen, people...you have one job. The sushi was also really not good. I know that Mammoth is not an epicurean center but if you're going to have a sushi restaurant you should at least have fresh fish. Our fish tasted old and flavorless (other than "fishy"). Overall, this might be the worst dining experience I've had in decades. I am not at all clear why this place still exists.

Sushi was pretty good. Gave it a 4 fornthe quality of sushi. Kept it at a 4 though food was a little pricey. If sushi was a 5 then price would match but I've had better and larger servings for the price.

Went here 1/8/2017. Horrible service, took 10-15 mins just for drinks, we ordered soup at the same time and it took at least 30-35 mins to get miso soup, although multiple tables that came in after us were served before we were. Server was oversat, disheveled and unorganized. He was buried and went down in flames. Rolls were VERY expensive and mostly disgusting. Rice was squishy, overcooked and gross, very heavy on the rice very light on the protein. We didn't even finish most of our rolls. One of the rolls was wet inside and falling apart. Without a doubt the worst sushi I've ever had, DON'T GO HERE. Go literally anywhere else. Fast food would be higher quality.
