The experience leans heavily into theatre: opening dishes arrive in handcrafted wooden boxes, while a paper cover atop black cod is ignited tableside to reveal the dish. What follows are extraordinary cuts of fish, flown in fresh from Japan, served in a true chef’s-table format. Each course is introduced and explained as it’s presented, including how it’s meant to be eaten-by hand, in the case of the latter half of the menu—making the experience as engaging as it is exceptional.

Amazing experience—highly recommended! The staff is incredibly kind and super attentive to every little detail. The food was outstanding, with stunning presentation and fresh, delicate flavors in every bite. The explanations made it even more fun and interactive, and learning where the ingredients came from (and how to eat each dish properly!) really elevated the whole experience. Yugen truly sets a new high bar!

Finally got to try Sushi Yūgen with my friends and we had the Sushi Omakase at the main counter. The place was quite nice and the service was excellent. Ingredients were fresh too. It was a very pleasant experience here! Only downside was that it was a tad rush for 75 mins but the sushi chefs have managed the tempo very well. Definitely will revisit for sure!

This was a fantastic experience! We did the omakase lunch. The fish was so fresh and delicious, and each bite was interesting with its own unique flavor palate. The chefs are clearly very experienced, it’s amazing to watch them work. They tell you what each piece of fish is and give you tips on how to best enjoy the bite. The service was also fantastic. They took extra care in celebrating our anniversary with a delicious dessert. 10/10 for a special occasion!

One of the best omakase experiences! Had lunch at this quaint authentic spot downtown and we luckily had the whole restaurant to ourselves during our booking! Happy early birthday to my dad; my parents first time at an omakase sushi restaurant; I think they are addicted! Special shout out to Kamen for hosting us and your incredible hospitality and service! Everything was delicious and I’m sure I’ll be back again!

Recently, I've been looking for an affordable omakase that won't break the bank. Finally, I found Sus h i Yugen. It focuses on value for money, with a 98 yuan omakase that's perfect for people like me who want to enjoy good food without going bankrupt. 😂🍽️ The portion size was just right, the pace was a bit fast, but the taste was excellent. The truffle white fish appetizer was a great start, with a delicate aroma of truffle rather than the overpowering smell of truffle oil. It was just the right amount to whet the appetite. The chef's selection of 10 pieces of sushi was a good choice. The fish wasn't particularly luxurious, but it was fresh. The overall style was clean and refreshing, not at all greasy. It's a great option for those trying omakase for the first time. The tuna hand roll was my favorite. It was freshly made and the amount of tuna was generous. The nori was crispy, and it was a delightful treat. The miso soup was decent. It warmed my stomach and was a nice way to end the meal. The matcha pudding dessert was not too sweet and had a pleasant matcha flavor. It was a perfect way to finish the meal. Since it was my birthday, they also gave me a glass of fresh peach juice, a paper crane greeting card, and a small candle, which added a nice touch of ceremony. We also ordered an extra piece of Hokkaido sea urchin. It wasn't particularly luxurious, but it was fresh and had no off-flavors. If you want to try it, you can order one piece. The wine list had quite a few options. I ordered a Premium Sake Flight, which included several different styles of sake. They paired well with the sushi. If you want to have a drink, you can give it a try. Regarding the environment and service: - The restaurant was clean and bright, but the space was a bit cramped. - The staff were very friendly and explained everything clearly. - The pace was fast, giving it a somewhat assembly-line feel. - If you prefer a more leisurely omakase experience, this place might be a bit rushed for you. There's also a 275 yuan omakase option, but from what I understand, the improvement isn't particularly significant. If it's your first time, the 98 yuan one is more than enough. The ingredients aren't particularly luxurious, but they are fresh and consistent. The value for money is really high. 🥢 It's perfect for those who want to try omakase but don't want to spend thousands of yuan at once. In short, it's worth a try and is a safe choice for omakase.

My first omakase experience in Canada! My first time in Japan, but this quality and experience is comparable to that in Japan! Every piece was super delicious and the chef and staff were super attentive. Very great experience, and I would definitely come back again in the future! Bonus: They had a special dessert set up for birthdays! You can see in the last picture!

I was looking for an unforgettable night out with my wife and reserved Sushi Yugen, a place I had my eye on for over a year. We had the omakase in this small intimate 12 seater. We also had the sake tasting option which was very tasty - highly recommended. After an appetizer it was all sushi, handcrafted by our masterful, informative and very friendly chef (BTW there were two chefs for the 12 of us). The sushi went directly from the chef’s hand to our plates to our fingers and mouth - an intimate human experience. And the price was fairly economic too! The whole experience took just over an hour off pure bliss.

Came here twice for birthday dinners, I will say the quality and service of the omakase served here are definitely worth it especially given the price. Chefs are very attentive and will ask for your feedback and what your favourite course is. It is a private and small space so definitely book reservations well in advance to get your spot.

Lunch here is unmistakably omakase in spirit but fast-paced in execution--a tightly choreographed counter experience designed for diners who value precision and efficiency in equal measure. Fish arrives steadily, rhythmically, without pause for commentary. My guest and I opted for the lunch set menu, priced at $80 per person, which feels almost mischievous given the quality and pedigree involved. The chef's-choice offering includes ten pieces of sushi, alongside miso soup and a tuna hand roll, delivered in a brisk but thoughtful progression that leaves little room for distraction. There are optional add-ons, such as A5 Wagyu.

I came here on a Friday evening for their lasting seating (8:15 pm) with a group of friends. The service was really good, they were attentive and professional. We did the main counter experience which was $98 per person. It started off with a white fish truffle appetizer which I really enjoyed. Followed by 10 pieces of sushi and a tuna hand roll. I am not a huge fan of raw fish so I can't say much to it. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, they all said it was really fresh. All the pieces were unique, they had different textures and flavour combinations. There were 13 people seated and two sushi chefs. The chef on one side seems to be more chatty with the group. The 10 courses go by so fast, at one point some people were still finishing their initial piece and the next piece would overlap. I felt rushed to eat rather than fully enjoy and converse. Overall, it was a nice experience. I haven't been to other omakase in Toronto lately so I can't compare but would be opened to try other spots in the future.

Came here for a Friday 8pm reservation for 12 people, we were here for a friend's birthday. Once we arrived we waited about 10 minutes to be seated, we had our coats taken and put aside into a closet, service was good and staff were all very friendly. We were seated, and first we were offered drink selection and the menu for the night was at every seat, with a "Happy birthday" message on each menu which was a really nice touch! We all had the 10 piece menu, with a starting app and dessert at the end. Here's the list of all the pieces we got: 1) seabass - 7/10 2) Sea bream - 8/10 3) ember jack (similar to yellowtail) - 9/10 4) Flounder - 9/10 5) cuttlefish - 7/10 6) medium fat toro (blue fin Tuna) - 9/10 7) fatty tuna - 9/10 8) Spanish Mackeral - 8/10 9) salmon - 8.5/10 10) salmon roe - 8/10 11) hand roll (with fatty tuna) - 8.5/10 Overall the food was good and extremely worth it for the price of 98$ (before tax and tip) The only slight gripe that I had was that the whole experience felt just a tad rushed. Almost as soon as you were finished the next piece was ready. Some may prefer that (I don't have much experience with omakase style meals) but it felt like since we were the last group for the night, things moved at an almost rushed pace. Overall I would recommend Sushi Yugen, the food was great and the price is fair (especially in comparison to the varying prices of omakases)

Since opening their doors, Sushi Yugen brings tradition and innovation together with the ultimate culinary experience of class, small details and delicious flavours. I tried the VIP Dining Experience with the Masterchef himself and it was worth every penny to enjoy a masterclass experience of Japanese cuisine from traditional flavours to innovative techniques. From the start of the cold appetizers to the handpressed sushi experience with the chef handmaking each piece by hand and with care and love to even the carefully crafted dessert, this was the ultimate meal I have ever enjoyed. If you have a chance, be sure to try the VIP Dining experience once in your life!

First day of 2026, We had an amazing omakase experience at Sushi Yugen. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in till we finish all 16 course. The vibe was elegant, intimate, and very comfortable. The chef was a bit shy but clearly very passionate and focused. Every piece was prepared with good care, and you could really taste how super fresh each fish was. Each course was well paced and thoughtfully presented. Each course was clearly explained by our server before we began. Every course was beautiful, delicate, and satisfying. Nothing felt rushed, and the quality stayed consistent throughout. One of the highlights of the night was the atmosphere. We ended up chatting with the people sitting next to us, sharing the experience, and even taking photos together. It made the whole dinner feel very warm and memorable. If you're looking for high quality omakase, fresh ingredients, and a relaxed, friendly dining experience, this is the one you should go.

This was my first omakase experience! I went here for lunch with my coworkers and I think it was a nice light meal. Service was nice, staff watchful to ensure your glass is never empty and chefs are mindful of the smallest detail. If you are looking to dip your toes in to the omakase experience, might be worth considering. I do think their dinner menu is more substantial if you are looking for a more filling meal. I think this place would be appropriate for work lunches/ dinners. Personally, I'm not sure about dates though because vibe is not as intimate. However, I did see a couple at lunch and they did a sake tasting. lol

situated inside a building next to alo bar. The staff are dressed in traditional Japanese kimono, the decorations ambiance was lovely. We did the $275 pp Kaiseki stype 16 course. We were seated right away, dinner service began with tea and hot towel. The entire experience was relaxing and luxurious. Ordered the sake the staff recommended it was delicious. Each course was hand crafted , beautifully created and delicious. There was only two courses I did not enjoy (tempura and cold udon), otherwise they were all delicious. The fish quality was impeccable. I am always impressed when i cannot get to the bottom of my tea cup, the staff was constantly filling my tea without asking. I left feeling so full, I couldn't each anymore. I love the variety of cold versus hot versus steamed dishes. there was also a surprise dish with truffle it was delicious. I love truffle, to have two dishes that came with good quality truffle was amazing. I highly recommend this place.

Always a pleasure visiting again. The quality and experience is consistent. The warm and welcoming staff makes you feel like you are at home with a private chef, instead of out at a restaurant. Was back at main counter, the chefs counter is on my bucket list for sure. Each chef has their own twist and style on how some of the pieces are prepared so it was always nice to have a surprise. I went with some friends who don't normally eat raw fish and they had an amazing experience and would come back. They have added in an extra dish on Tuesdays and Fridays, which is the steamed egg. Starting off the night with the truffle appetizer is always so refreshing followed by the matcha pudding to close it off at the end of the meal. The atmosphere is very peaceful and calming from the subtle music in the back to the decor, which is a homey feel. They have a waiting area in front of the restaurant for you to chat with your party prior to entering the dining room. Most importantly show up on time as the chef cannot wait if they are busy.

Meh Had the top end chef's counter omakase in the back room. For its price it's ok. But this isn't a one star and it needs to step up quite a bit to get there. Ambiance-wise it's nicely decorated. The chef's counter room is nice. However, the main counter area is loud. We first thought it was the patrons but later found out it's actually the staff. Not what we expected from high end omakase. Too bar-like for me. Service wise they lack refinement. Starred restaurants carefully place and remove your plating and dishes extremely carefully and nearly silently. This serving staff does not have that precision. The descriptions were basic and seemed unfamiliar. It's too bad the chef is not comfortable with English enough to present the dishes but the serving staff weren't particularly engaging. Relatedly, it was a special event for us and staff were informed. Aside from getting greeted when we met the front desk with a "Happy XXX", there was we no indication of recognition of the special occasion. We suspect the repeat customers next to us who were celebrating their birthday caused them to forget about us. But that shouldn't happen. Food was actually quite good for the price. Special points for interactive dishes like the tea pot soup and seafood dish and the abalone dish where we got a rice ball afterwards for the sauce. Those were excellent. Some plating was fantastic. The ice bowl was one. The teapot dish was another. Another thing, I always get extra pieces of sushi when it is offered. Got an extra Uni sushi and otoro sushi. Was NOT expecting it to be $40 and $26 per piece respectively. To provide context, I routinely go to $1000/person restaurants and omakase's around the world. It's not a cost issue. It's a quality issue. It wasn't THAT good. Overall, not bad for the price. But this is a good mid-tier omakase. Not a contender for best in Toronto. Have that perspective and you won't be disappointed.

Best sushi hands down in Toronto and probably the most authentic experience you can get for the price. All staff speak Japanese, they even have a Japanese toilet! Honestly this was probably the best sushi I've had in general now that I think about it... the service is absolutely wonderful, and you can tell they really pay attention to detail. Everything was extremely fresh and they have two sushi chefs, which means you aren't waiting too long for your next bite. I would recommend booking in advance and going on a Wednesday as they have deals during the week for add-ons. The ambiance also makes you feel like you're transported to a different country. It's so Zen and quite a treat for the eyes. Highly recommend!

This review is the for $275CAD Head Chef's table. It's a menu that focuses on Japanese kaiseki with several nigiri's afterwards. I really enjoyed the chefs tasting menu at Sushi Yugen. I think they have the best kaskseki menu than any other omakase's I've been but I wouldn't say their nigiri's are the best (that's not to say it's bad at all). My favorite was their oysters and abalone dish but honestly, everything was good. Service was also great as well. Would high recommend.

I had the omakase for lunch and everything was excellent. In sequence, we had: 1. Scallop nigiri 2. Sea bream nigiri 3. Cuttlefish nigiri 4. Tuna nigiri 5. Flounder nigiri 6. Prawn nigiri 7. Amberjack nigiri 8. Salmon nigiri (from Nova Scotia) 9. Sea urchin with nori 10. Eel nigiri 11. Tuna hand roll At some time toward the last few courses, we were brought the miso soup. All the seafood was delectable, exceptionally fresh, with a wonderful texture, and prepared perfectly. We were told that all except the salmon was shipped from Japan. The palate-cleansing marinated ginger was perfect also. The chef was friendly and explained everything. Service was excellent. Ambience and decor are lovely. I'd highly recommend.

I had an excellent meal at Sushi Yugen tonight. I found the quality, ambience, and service to be excellent, and the price is very reasonable at $98 CAD. The restaurant is located in the lobby of an office building, but when you step inside you're instantly transported. Each piece of fish was prepared simply to highlight the freshness and natural flavors. The restaurant is small, and reservations are required, so plan ahead! I'll certainly be back during my trip to Toronto!

The food and experience was amazing. The chef's signature dish abalone looked very simple but full of flavour. It was unexpectedly amazing. The dishes were art and the food looked and tasted very good. It is very costly but worth it. The chefs tasting menu only seated I believe 8 people.

Heads up, this will be the longest review I've ever written. TLDR: Sushi Yugen is Toronto's best Omakase. Sushi is my favourite food. I eat a lot of Omakase. Cost:Quality ratio is amazing. I almost DIED 2 weeks ago. Read for more! Level Setting: 1) I've gone to all the Omakases in Toronto. 2) Sushi is my favourite food. 3) I lived in Japan and ate sushi every week. 4) I almost died this month in a car crash and this was one of the things that felt like unfinished business. I survived to write you this essay. (time slowed down and I had a lot of time to think) 1) TASTE AND EVOLUTION I have had the pleasure of eating at Sushi Yugen from basically Day 1. I went to one of their first seatings and one of their first chef's table's. I also was at their first event, where they flew in a chef from Japan. In my experience, most sushi restaurants I've been to get worse over time. This could be because of a number of reasons from cost cutting to change in management. Sushi Yugen has only gotten better. I've easily been to Sushi Yugen more than 10 times and I've gotten to know the staff. I know for a fact that the owner/management puts their entire heart and soul into the restaurant. So, I think it'll only get better. I can confidently say that Sushi Yugen can go toe to toe with any restaurant in Toronto. 2) COSTS When it comes to "bang for your buck" Sushi Yugen really shines. I absolutely hate it when I go to some restaurants and end up with a $500+ bill (for two), for slightly above average food. The Yugen price may seem high to some, but considering how much any restaurant costs in Toronto, it is a very reasonable tasting menu. On top of that, I see Omakases as a performance. It's prepared beautifully in front of you, in a wonderful venue, and it's meticulously curated. For those who want a more elevated experience, try the Chef's Counter. 3) EXPERIENCE I prefer the peaceful aesthetic of Sushi Yugen to other restaurants. It reminds me of a lot of the restaurants I went to in Japan. They have held several events as well and they're really close with the food community in Toronto, so I expect more in the future. The staff is very attentive and professional. It's a good spot for dates and business chats. If it isn't obvious yet, Sushi Yugen is my favourite spot in Toronto. It is my "go to" place now when my friends visit from out of town or if I have a milestone in life. It's my "Cheers" for the older generation. And.. That's why this final point 4) NEAR DEATH STORY Two weeks ago my car went through a tree, flipped, and tumbled. While I was spinning, time slowed down a lot, and I was thinking of my mountain of unfinished business. The PLAN was to write this review months ago. The PLAN was also to have my last meal here before my neck surgery. Yup, that's right. Three days after the car crash I had neck surgery. I'm dodging death like Final Destination. I'm currently recovering and working on some of those regrets. So, if you're still around reading this, please go check out this restaurant as my "almost" dying wish lol. There was so much love poured into this place and it shows. I hope to see you there. Say hi. I'll buy you a drink. Final Notes: I like going early and waiting in their seating area outside the entrance. Don't go to the door facing the street. Go into the actual building where MedCan is. Try the "Momo" (peach) drink if you like sweet and light drinks. The regular omakase is a shorter experience, so don't expect to sit down for hours; if you want a slower paced, more private, and fancier experience I recommend the Chef's Counter. If you want to extend your night with drinks I recommend walking across the hall to alobar. They have a good espresso martini haha.

Sushi Yugen is one of the newest omakase in the financial district. It is very popular so I would like to give it a try. We had lunch version $80, which comes with miso soup, 10 pieces of nigiri, and a hand roll. 10 pieces of nigiri including scallop, Argentina shrimp, salmon, squid, toro. Honestly, it is very similar than the one in Markham, Richmond Hill area, but they are all price at $60 or $70. $80 is on the expensive side, and not really worth it. It is totally not bad, but not live up with the price.

We came to Sushi Yūgen for a birthday dinner. We were booked for the Main Counter @ 7PM. The previous group was running behind, so we weren't seated until around 7:15. Once you step inside, there's an intimate room with a 12-seat table around the 2 chefs. Our chefs were professional and friendly, developing a nice rapport with the guests throughout the meal. Some of my favourites were the sea bream, marinated salmon, and fatty tuna handroll, but the entire meal was delicious end-to-end. I would recommend getting the wagyu add-on, which on the day we went was discounted at $13. We were comparing this to Tachi (now closed), which was a slightly smaller omakase menu for $60. I do think Yūgen is still great value, including the overall experience.

$99 option, there were no slots for chefs counter. Overall the quality and freshness of the fish is top notch in Toronto, especially for the price. Very honest option. They served tea and took my coat while we were waiting for seating. The place is very quiet and chef was very attentive. One of the better omakase in Toronto. Terrible service. Reservations available on Open Table and the extremely rude host made an issue about arriving at 12:20 for a 12:30 reservation. Apparently the chef didn't prepare enough rice for the omakase? Spend your money elsewhere this chef and his staff are clueless and have no class or tact. 0/10

Sushi Yugen, located near Adelaide and York, is downtown's newest omakase experience in the financial district. The entrance is located inside office tower and compared to other omakase restaurants in Toronto, their pricing is quite reasonable. They have 2 different dining experiences (in 2 different rooms). The main counter (which seats 12) is the more casual, laid back experience where lunch is priced at $80 and dinner at $98 (only difference is that for dinner you get an additional fish appetizer, dessert, and o-toro (for lunch you're served chu-toro)). They also have another dining experience called the Chef's Counter (which seats 8) priced at $275 for dinner only. I stopped by for lunch recently to try their main counter omakase experience. Reservations are a must where this can be done online quite easily. There is a late cancellation fee if you do cancel last minute. I reserved for the last seating which started at 1:15pm. The website does ask you to arrive at the restaurant 5-10 min before the reservation time as they do not want parties arriving late (since the omakase is served together once all the guests are seated. When I arrived I checked in with staff who informed me that their 2nd seating (which starts at 12:30) was running behind (about 15 min). I waited outside where once they were all ready for the 1:15pm seating, we were greeted and guided to our spots based on who showed up first. In terms of the omakase experience, there were 2 different sushi chefs preparing nigiri for 9 guests in total. On my side my sushi chef were serving 5 customers while on the other side another sushi chef was serving 4 customers. I ordered a sake which was excellent - light, refreshing and floral, prefect for the sushi. We had about 9-10 nigiri and 1 handroll with chopped o-toro and green onion which was delightful. We got miso soup in the end as well. We even had a special piece with mini shrimp and uni as well which was delicious. My favourite pieces have to be the chu-toro and the uni/sweet shrimp. Each piece was handcrafted beautifully where the sushi chef explained each piece to us as he gave us our nigiri. Service wise, the staff were attentive and made sure that our water or teas were always filled. They were courteous and super friendly as well. Overall, great place for an omakase experience which won't break the bank!

It wasn't until a friend who indulges in a lot of fine dining mentioned the restaurant, giving their chef's table menu ($275/person) a high recommendation that I finally booked a reservation. And I was not disappointed. The higher price point gets you into a more intimate room where Master Chef Kyohei Igarashi personally prepares the meal. Igarashi spent 15 years in Japan, learning the craft at high-end sushi and kaiseki places, before finally settling into a Michelin starred restaurant where he spent another seven years. Indeed, the omakase menu showcases his background, starting off with six kaiseki dishes before the nine pieces of nigiri are presented. He comes out shyly, his accomplishments touted by a translator, and immediately launches into squaring off fish filets so the slices end up all evenly presented amongst the diners. Our winter menu begins with a hot bowl of broth. Japanese turnip is cooked and then likely pulverized so it melts throughout the soup, causing it to thicken a bit. I would have thought the monk fish liver and leeks would be strong, but somehow the addition of yuzu mellows the ingredients and ties everything together. Sushi Yugen serves a menu worthy of a Scandinavian spa as it goes from hot to a cold plunge. A bowl of fluke arrives in a beautiful ice dome doused in a special soy-based sauce and covered with black truffle shavings. The delicate white fish allows the truffle's flavours to be prominently featured. The combination of meaty fish and the fungi's earthiness is an interesting flavour profile that somehow works. A bowl of soumen arrives adorn with edible flowers and thinly julienned Japanese ginger, sitting in a three-fish broth (bonito, tuna, sardine). Normally, the bowl of noodles has a deep savoury taste. Sushi Yugen's still has that element, but the floral and ginger finish gives the silky noodles a bright burst... almost like that pop of basil on a gooey cheesy pizza. This is BY FAR the best dining experience I've had in a long time. There are two different options for dining at Sushi Yugen (both omakase). My fiancé and I chose the cheaper option which was around $100 Canadian. When we booked it, we actually didn't expect to have a chef in front of us (we thought only the more expensive option would put you at a table with a chef), so we were very pleasantly surprised with our experience. Our chef was incredible and he explained each piece of sushi to us before serving it. This is definitely some of the best sushi I've ever eaten. Everything literally melted in our mouths. I couldn't even choose a favorite because everything was just that good. There are also a few add-ons that you can choose if you want to complement your meal, although we were full enough just with the standard omakase menu. The couple beside us did order the uni as an add-on which looked really incredible. It was my fiancé's birthday and they really made the night memorable for us. When we arrived there was a cute little paper crane sitting at his seat that said "happy birthday," and after our meal they brought him a special little glass of white peach juice which tasted like heaven. Overall I really can't say enough good things about Sushi Yugen. We would absolutely splurge for the more expensive option the next time we return!

Went here for my birthday and was blown away by the amazing service and the value of the main counter omakase. We paid extra for the Wagyu piece, and also received a free Uni piece for their 1 year anniversary. Highly recommend this place, and would love to come back!

Definitely one of the best value omakase dining experiences available in Toronto right now! For under $100, you get an appetizer, 10pc nigiri, 1 handroll, miso soup, and dessert. The ingredient quality was fresh and the dishes were tasty, especially the ones that were infused with their homemade truffle oil. Overall, the dining experience was enjoyable as the chef was very friendly and kept the atmosphere light and comfortable.

For an omakase spot, this was a good meal and not over the top bougie - a reasonable mid range level omakase. Some of the pieces they brought out were truly excellent; the scallop was incredibly tender and had no chew whatsoever, it just melted in your mouth - something I've never tasted with scallop before. Also the fatty tuna (o-toro) is usually a hit but this was one of the best varieties of fatty tuna I've ever had - it gave me an "I need to close my eyes and focus on this bite" moment. That's a pretty easy reason for 5 stars. Lastly the green tea custard for dessert was delicious, and since it was dry Jan we had the white peach juice - also a 10/10 juice!

The sushi was good and loved the matcha pudding for dessert. It was fun watching the chefs prepare the food.

Sushi yugen is a nice omakase restaurant located in the financial district of DT Toronto. This location is convenient for people who want to have a quick lunch. The omakase was served really fast and the chef explained each dish properly. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant a 5 star is because I felt really rushed to pay the bill and to also quickly leave the restaurant by the male server, but over all I would recommend everyone to try this restaurant! It's a budget friendly omakase restaurant that will definitely satisfy your cravings!

My friend treated us to Sushi Yugen, we had the private dinning option which has around 15 or 16 courses (in certain cases, one piece of sushi is a course). Since the chef(s) prepare the courses in front of you, it's kind of like a dinner and a show. Just like all the high end/Michelin restaurants, everything was meticulously done, every course was explained to you and visually exquisite. The service was top notch of course. To me, the most memorable course was the tuna with the ice dome, the presentation was stunning, then the steamed egg custard with black truffle highlights the truffle beautifully and the egg is silky smooth. You also won't be disappointed with the sushi, they had added very fine knife cuts on the sushi which added to the tenderness of the sushi. Overall, I will say that you get a very satisfying Omakase and your money's worth at Sushi Yugen. My friend also did the cheaper option before and she said it was very good too, maybe less truffle and less gold, but still satisfying.

Fabulous food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere! What's to complain! Tried the $98 meal, chef was engaging and fish was fresh and delicious! What I also like is that they would change the menu dependent on ingredients availability and in general, so there would be something new to try! Definitely will return!

Delicious omakase meal! impeccable service, very Japanese like with great attention to details in a very relaxing environment. We dined at the main counter for $98 per person. Compared to other omakase in the city, this was an incredible deal. Highlights: appetizer (truffle white fish), marinated salmon, the bluefin tuna series (all sourced from Japan), and the encore (torched o-toro/fatty bluefin tuna). Our chef was so interactive, explained all of our courses. It was a phenomenal dining experience. I can't wait to come back for the chef's counter experience.
