Finally got to try Sushi Yūgen with my friends and we had the Sushi Omakase at the main counter. The place was quite nice and the service was excellent. Ingredients were fresh too. It was a very pleasant experience here! Only downside was that it was a tad rush for 75 mins but the sushi chefs have managed the tempo very well. Definitely will revisit for sure!

This was a fantastic experience! We did the omakase lunch. The fish was so fresh and delicious, and each bite was interesting with its own unique flavor palate. The chefs are clearly very experienced, it’s amazing to watch them work. They tell you what each piece of fish is and give you tips on how to best enjoy the bite. The service was also fantastic. They took extra care in celebrating our anniversary with a delicious dessert. 10/10 for a special occasion!

One of the best omakase experiences! Had lunch at this quaint authentic spot downtown and we luckily had the whole restaurant to ourselves during our booking! Happy early birthday to my dad; my parents first time at an omakase sushi restaurant; I think they are addicted! Special shout out to Kamen for hosting us and your incredible hospitality and service! Everything was delicious and I’m sure I’ll be back again!

My first omakase experience in Canada! My first time in Japan, but this quality and experience is comparable to that in Japan! Every piece was super delicious and the chef and staff were super attentive. Very great experience, and I would definitely come back again in the future! Bonus: They had a special dessert set up for birthdays! You can see in the last picture!

This was hands down the best sushi I’ve had in Canada. I visited this restaurant in Toronto for the first time on a friend’s recommendation, and everything—from the service to the food—was absolutely flawless. The servers were attentive, engaging, and did a great job explaining each dish, even adding some light small talk that made the experience feel warm and personal. Every single piece of sushi was perfect—nothing felt rushed or overlooked. The highlight, without a doubt, was the premium-grade uni. Its flavor and texture were truly exceptional. If I ever return to Toronto, this will be the first place I go back to. Highly recommended.

I had the dinner omakase meal ($100 at chefs bar) and my honest experience from an overall dining perspective was quite mid owing mainly to the extremely subdued environment and somewhat rushed pacing. However, I can totally see how from a mainly sushi/fish perspective how this is easily a 4-5 star experience for some diners particularly for the value and that is totally valid. I would say if you’re looking for a memorable, joyful and engaging chef experience this isn’t for you. If you’re into kind of silently enjoying fresh pieces of sushi whilst attentive but totally fading into the background front of house staff serve you but barely speak then this is for you. We left Sushi Yuhen with a strong desire to head straight to a lively bar for some sense of conviviality. Some suggestions - I would’ve liked some more engagement from the chef to learn about the fish, where it came from, seasonality etc. he basically just said what it was and that was it. Also maybe switch up one of the sushi pieces for a cooked element just to break up the monotony of the courses. And finally add some buffer time between seatings even just 5-10 minutes so it isn’t such a hard turnover.

A dinner at Sushi Yūgen is more than just a meal; it's a true experience. It's an incredible destination for anyone who loves high-end, authentic omakase, with a price-to-quality ratio that's hard to beat in the city. The entire evening feels like an escape from the busy downtown core. The minimalist, Zen-like decor, with light wood and subtle lighting, immediately transports you to a quiet space where you can focus entirely on the food. The amount of preparation that goes into creating this dining experience is simply unreal. The staff, for instance, are dressed in traditional kimonos, adding another layer of authenticity and elegance to the evening. My recent visit to celebrate my birthday was particularly special, and it felt like the perfect place for a memorable occasion.

I was looking for an unforgettable night out with my wife and reserved Sushi Yugen, a place I had my eye on for over a year. We had the omakase in this small intimate 12 seater. We also had the sake tasting option which was very tasty - highly recommended. After an appetizer it was all sushi, handcrafted by our masterful, informative and very friendly chef (BTW there were two chefs for the 12 of us). The sushi went directly from the chef’s hand to our plates to our fingers and mouth - an intimate human experience. And the price was fairly economic too! The whole experience took just over an hour off pure bliss.
