I’m a long time Susie cakes customer & won’t be any longer. About a year or so ago, I emailed the owner about the black and mold green carrot pieces in the carrot cake. I got a friendly reply from her saying how customer satisfaction is her top priority & she would take care of it. Waited a long time to get that cake again & no change, still there! Today several pieces. Why? There is no excuse & the replies to dissatisfied customers are all similar, thanking & promising change. Another reviewer had the same experience.

We got the most beautiful cakes for my daughter’s birthday. Guests were super complimentary on how beautiful they were and how delicious. We got two 9 inch cakes for 40 kids and it was more than enough… we have quite a bit left over. Staff was very helpful and we ordered for next day (afternoon) pickup. Highly recommend!

I have been here many times and love it! The chocolate cake and Whoopi pie (chocolate cookies with vanilla buttercream) are my favorites! Chocolate chip cookie, chocolate, and vanilla cupcakes are delicious! And the strawberry cupcake was great! The place is beautiful, the staff is so friendly and welcoming! Thank you all!!!

My first experience walking into SusieCakes was welcoming. The place is clean and spacious, the staff was more than generous. The sweet guy who helped me check out gave me a freebie too. I didn't get his name but he was very sweet. I bought 2 slices of their popular red velvet cake and I got a free strawberry cupcake. I myself am a baker, and the reason why I came here was because my cousin's bday cake was the red velvet and just as I recall it is still just as good. Cream cheese frosting is fluffy and the cake was moist too. Although, I wasn't necessarily fond of the strawberry cupcake, the cake was a bit on the drier end but the frosting kinda made up for it, it seems like they used real strawberries as the flavor was very subtle but not overwhelming. Kinda tasted like a strawberry shortcake. I would definitely be back for the red velvet occasionally.

Everything looked delicious, lots of colourful cakes covered in frosting to choose from. Cupcakes of every kind and only a few cookies. I was hoping they had pastries, as I was looking for a bakery. But the name of the place is pretty self-explanatory, they make cakes. If you're looking for cakes or cupcakes, that's your place. Plenty of parking outside, which is very convenient.

Great place for cakes. Last minute birthday cake options. Love the buttercream frosting. All flavors come in slices and whole cake. The vanilla celebration cake is delicious. Staff are helpful and passionate. Great customer service.

My favorite bakery for special occasions. The cake is buttery and moist and the frosting is amazing!! Picked up a small lemon cake this time to celebrate my oldest’s birthday. Of course I had to get some cupcakes in other flavors for the rest of us ;) Staff is always quick and friendly.

I really enjoy Susie Cakes at any of thier locations. What I liked about this one in the Marina is that the interior is more spacious. Not a big deal to some people, but it does make a difference when there's a crowd or long line of customers. Besides that, service was excellent. The desserts (cakes, cookies, bars, etc.)

I rarely eat sweets like this. So, if I do, I want the best and SusieCakes has the best cupcakes I've ever had, consistently fresh and delicious.

Tried 4 different cupcakes- Mocha, Peanut Butter, Coconut, and Red Velvet. Red Velvet- Liked the texture and taste of the cake. I usually prefer a cream cheese frosting but I actually thought it was good. I just would of preferred no sprinkles. Fluffy Coconut- Nothing fluffy about it! Cake portion was dense and odd. Didn't like the texture or the taste. Peanut Butter- didn't like it! Mocha- didnt taste bad but just wasn't my thing! Overall I'm curious to try the carrot cake and I'd probably try a few other flavors if someone wanted to go or brought them to me but I wasn't impressed enough to return on my own..

I am obsessed with Susie cakes cookies! I got their cookie sandwich filled with icing on national cookie day and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. We got their cookie cakes for Halloween and they were equally as good! Their cupcakes are good but I find them pretty sweet so I can only have a bite or two at a time! I wish they would get more flavors too. Highly recommend stopping in, the staff are always nice and helpful!

Restaurant sent a coupon with apologies. Tried a pair of cake slices. They were very tasty. A little on the sweet side, for me. But I'd definitely give other flavors a try.

Always delicious! Every cupcake, cake slice and the big chocolate chip cookies are all so yummy here. I have to be careful not to go here too often or my pants won't fit lol but man this place is the best. I have always had the nicest encounters with the employees here. The woman working this evening was especially kind as I came in a couple minutes before closing and she was super sweet and accommodating.

I came into SusieCakes today to order a cake for my sons 6th birthday. Upon entering I met and began speaking with two young ladies behind the counter. One of which was extremely rude, her name was Leslie. It seemed every question I asked was a burden for her, her constant grunting, unusual body language, and constant reiteration of my questions REALLY THREW ME OFF. Throughout, I remained calm, but when she began belittling her coworker right before my eyes, and asked me if I thoroughly asked a question correctly.. I needed to address the matter. I told her her coworker was correct and that the prior question, was indeed what I was asking. But can I just say, regardless of her "answering" my questions, she was FLAT OUT RUDE! It was appalling! Not once did I truly feel treated with respect and to be fair, not a single one of my questions was truly answered by her. After speaking to another sweet girl behind the counter I was given a lot more information. This did however, alter my desire to order his cake and the two dozen cupcakes I had anticipated to order from here. To me, service makes ALL the difference. With plenty of other options around, I will definitely say, PASS to SusieCakes and take my business elsewhere. Cheers to better customer service Yelpers! Xx

Glad to see they've updated their hours because they were closing too early during the week which was a bit frustrating. Susies has the standard vanilla, chocolate, and Red Velvet cupcakes (and some other flavors) that are good, but nothing extraordinary. The cakes are what steal the spotlight imo. The Celebration cake is my favorite. It's got like five hearty layers of moist yellow cake with sprinkles throughout . If I could have a slice a week, I would. I also like the Red Velvet cake. I buy by the slice but the next time I need a whole cake for a birthday or something, this is where I'd come.

Woo me with your sweetness o' Susie Cakes. Your cakes are moist, dense and dangerous; your cookies munchy good and your cupcakes, divine. That spartan showroom with the gleaming glass and chrome and those evil-yet-oh-so-delicious wares tempting me from behind the glass are almost too sweet to handle.

I ordered a cake for my dads 60th. It was a bit expensive but I think it was worth it. I ordered a carrot cake and it had so much carrot in it. It was delicious. I feel like it had quality ingredients. The cake looked much nicer when I got it but after a long drive it might have moved around in the box!

5/5 amazing customer service here!! I had ordered a birthday cake for a friend and when I went to pick it up they were running late but I could tell it was a busy Saturday. There were hundreds of red velvet cakes being worked on in the back and I can only imagine what kind of event needs that much cake! When we got home there was an issue with the cake and I called to inform the staff. The general manager Jasmin immediately talked with me and was so understanding and kind - mistakes happen! She offered me a gift card which I picked up the following day and the two guys who helped me in store were also very nice and accommodating. Overall great experience and the parts of the cake that we could eat everyone loved!! Sadly I'm gluten free so I couldn't try it, but I will definitely be back soon to try their gf celebration cake!

Love love love Susie Cakes. We get all of our " just because we deserve a treat " and celebratory cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pie etc from here. It always very clean inside, and the service is great. Everyone is very helpful right away. Even when there's a line, it moves quickly. We love everything here, but a NEW DISCOVERY for me is their GLUTEN FREE CELEBRATION CAKE! OMgoodnessssss!!! It's delicious!! It taste just like the regular cake. They said they are testing it to see how it does. I hope it stays. Why eat gluten if you can't tell it's missing? I will only get that one if they continue it. Yummy!

Best cakes in Venice. We love to get a birthday or Halloween cake from here. Cakes themselves are delicious.

I was really looking forward to some red velvet cupcakes and asked the lady at the counter which ones were baked fresh today. She said all their cupcakes are baked fresh daily. When I asked about their most popular flavor, she said vanilla. So, I bought a red velvet and a vanilla cupcake. The red velvet cupcake was moist but didn't have enough cocoa powder for my taste. The vanilla cupcake, though, was dry and seemed old, so I couldn't eat it. I spent about $10 for two cupcakes, which felt pretty steep for what I got. I was hoping for better quality, especially at that price.

Love SusieCakes... but wish they would communicate better about what they are selling today. So I made the trek, going out of my way to pick up 2 cupcakes. Not Valentine cupcakes since I'm baking chocolate soufflé for our V-day cozy dinner tonight. Apparently they ONLY sell sets of 4 Valentine cupcakes today. Ugh. Okay. I don't need FOUR. Pretty bummed. And what a waste of my time. Moving on. Please update and communicate changes in your product offerings -- that would be much appreciated.

Needed a cake for a birthday. Looked around. This was second on my list because the place I wanted first was closed. Glad I found this place. Easy no nonsense cake with a personal message in 10 minutes. Got the chocolate. Still thinking about it. Excellent frosting. This location is great because there is a parking lot.

I went in for a piece of cheesecake for a birthday but they didn't have any. So we chose the tropical coconut. It was so good!! It was a fabulous substitute.

I just got into the store ... I ask for a couple new brownie with coconut and other flavors... after I paid she said to way for a half and hour because they are frozen..... really????? Why she didn't said anything before.... I just got my coffee from Pete's coffee with my mother so we chose Susie bakery for our coffee.... I am so upset I can not believe it I ask her why you didn't mentioned before I paid???? Nothing no response no sorry nothing from her .....

I rarely ever leave reviews - but my experience here was AMAZING! I need to personally give a shout out to Jasmin. She is so kind and so helpful. She was patient with me as I was struggling to pick a cake for my anniversary. She made me feel comfortable with the writing that I had asked for on the cake as I was just being silly lol it also happened to be my birthday that day and we briefly chatted about that. When I received my cake there were two boxes when I was only expecting one. I found out she had gifted me some cupcakes for the my two celebrations! She deserves this review and I really hope someone sees this and gives her the recognition she deserves because no one in the customer service industry has ever made feel that special on my birthday. Thank you Jasmin!

A very bad day was turned around by the kindness of this location. Thank you for making my world a better place by adding such a sweetness to my day.

I have only had SusieCakes once in my life (prior to today's adventure), but after today, they now have a life long supporter! My friend got us some mocha cupcakes from them a few weeks back and it was delicious, moist, and just the right amount of mocha flavor. Since she and I loved it so much, I decided to get her one for her birthday! I called up this Marina del Rey location to check before making the drive. Alondra was so lovely and helpful - she confirmed that they had some left and then went above and beyond and said that she could save one for me! This was probably around 5pm-ish and my ETA was 5:48 so I already knew it was going to be tight. Of course tho, in classic LA fashion, there was an accident on the freeway and as I crawled along the freeway, I had to watch my ETA go up. I never want to be That Customer so I called again to confirm what time they closed and Alondra told me that she will keep my cupcake for me and to just drive safely! I made it with a minute to spare! Now Alondra has already been so helpful, but as I burst in through the doors asking about my mocha cupcake, she decided to step it up again. She handed me my treasure in a bag and said that it was on the house and that they also threw in three more cupcakes for free!!! Not only that, but when I finally got to my friend's place with the prized cupcakes in tow, I found this sweet note from her thanking me for making the trip to enjoy their cupcakes and to drive safe! I am so so touched by her kindness and thoughtfulness. I didn't have any cash on me this time ( :( ), but the next time I come back to SusieCakes, I am leaving a big tip for their delicious cupcakes and Alondra and the rest of their superb staff! Thanks Alondra for everything!!!

The cupcakes here are excellent. The quality is very good, there are a lot of options to choose from and the service is very friendly.

Five stars for cupcakes. I love how their cupcakes aren't sickening sweet and more buttery instead. The cake part also contains some frosting in the center, so they aren't dry at all. I got Christmas cookies here for the first time- loved the gingerbread. The sugar cookies were just OK. I've also gotten whoopie pies from here, and while they aren't a classic New England whoopie pie, they are DELICIOUS and I highly recommend.

Johnathan was super nice it was my first time there shoutout to him for great customer service ! I legit had my eye on trying the churro cupcake .... It's like flavor of the month type of thing well anyways he threw it in my order since I couldn't make up my mind lol but I appreciate that and would definitely go back to that location!! OMG - I've been a Susie cakes fan for YEARS. Love love love all their flavors, especially the lemon and celebration cake. My fiancé and I went in today to ask about party options for an upcoming celebration and Briana at the MDR location was such an angel. She was super knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had. She has us now hooked on the strawberry cake and the berry one too. SO good. Thank you for making our day Briana, we hope to see you every time we come back!

The frosting used on the red velvet @susiecakes is pure MAGIC. Worth every bad day, minute in traffic AND however long it takes to park. Same recipe at all locations, luckily i dont have an hour drive to get to mine Staff goes above and beyond to make sure you know how to treat your custom treats to maximize flavor when its time to blow out the candles. They even give you instructions IF you have any left over. Also an awesome selection of cookies and cupcakes for DELIVERY in emergency "cant forget to celebrate ___'s bday!" Absolutey saved the day on MANY occasions. Thx Susie Cakes

I've been to this location twice and both times the staff were very unfriendly. Leslie in particular, was very rude, belittling, and treated me like I was coming in to steal some cake. I was patiently waiting for my turn and once I was up, she completely did not acknowledge my presence and spoke over me to a customer to came in and was standing behind me. I said ok and stepped aside. Once she was finally ready to address me, she was snarky and rude. All she had to do was say, "hi, let me finish ringing up this person who was waiting outside for their order to ready and we'll be right with you." Ruined my day for no reason. Would not recommend.

First visit to Susie Cakes and ordered the Tasting bundle. Staff was amazing!! Cakes were also amazing!!

A very warm greeting by butterfly Brianna after a hard day I went in there to get a cupcake for dessert for after dinner, and I was greeted by smiles and happiness. I don't care what they're selling. I go there just to see her. What a Great attitude=

Delicious cake. Corey provided me with excellent customer service. He was very knowledgeable about each of the cakes and helped me decide which to buy. It was a good decision. I appreciate employees who take time to make customers feel heard and welcomed. Corey did just that

Suzie cakes used to be wonderful at first. Everything was very fresh and moist. But for the prices they charge (an 8" cake is $50) I've noticed the cakes are getting dry and taste stale. They're a victim of their own success. It's still not a celebration without a Suzie cake but I hold my breath each time I serve one that it will be fresh.

Great cakes and sweets. Staff is friendly and always throws in extra goodies. Our favorite location.

Best chocolate chip cookies in town! Best red velvet cupcake in town! We got the lemon cake for my mother-in-law's 99th birthday and it was a hit. Stabs always friendly, and we always get fresh goods.

The quality here is consistently excellent as is the customer service but today was an especially nice experience. Between Cory's help and the nice gal with glasses who rang up my order, today was easily the cherry on top of every visit I've paid here. Thanks for making my day!! Love this place!

Been coming to Susie Cakes a for years, after it opened and it was love at first bite. I like to bake occasionally and appreciate how these taste tastes homemade. The icing is made of real butter cakes/cupcakes are moist and delicious! The shop is very clean and cute and everybody who works there is very friendly. I also like that you can see into the kitchen, I am a nosy type and it makes me feel more relaxed when I see who is doing the baking. My favourites are the chocolate filled cupcakes and the lemon cupcakes. The folks that work there always tell me I should try the chocolate chip cookies and They are not wrong! I have tried the coconut and the vanilla and wasn't overlly excited about either one. On my last visit, I bought a 7 layer bar because they told me it would leave the menu soon! So glad I did! I'll have to be back to try the berry cake coming soon!

Cupcakes and cakes are good but limited. Customer service is AWFUL. I been coming once a week to get stuff for birthdays and commitments I been having and keep running with the same issue, the girls there have zero patience, they don't explain what they can do with the cakes, they don't even show you images of how the cake will look. I was ordering 400 worth in cake and she couldn't explain to me what I was getting exactly. Once one of them told me go to the website for photos. Another time it was loud and the lady was just sitting by the cashier and wanted me to yell at her what I want from the cupcake service, she couldn't even come and get the order from me. They have zero zero intention for help. Not coming back!

If you're craving a slightly moist, well baked cake, cupcake, or cookie- Susie's Cakes is the way to go! I've been to multiple locations, but this one has to be my absolute favorite. The service and cleanliness of this location is impeccable. The employees were truly so kind and helpful. I really love how fast they attended to me as well. They seemed to have a good stock of cakes and other pastries which is great. I always enjoy every bite of my cake whenever I purchase one here. The buttercream frosting is TO DIE FOR. I'm in love with the taste of it. You really can't go wrong with Susie's. I love that they have amazing sparkle candles that light up like a semi silent firework. It's truly mesmerizing to look at!

Went in yesterday afternoon and the person who helped me was so sweet and absolutely made my day (not to mention that everything in there is delicious). It wasn't my first time going in and absolutely won't be my last. Thanks for being so kind.

*Where's the Love & Gloves SusieCakes?* I'm a nice & friendly person & customer and always treat everyone with kindness & respect - unless I'm disrespected. But we had issues with some of SusieCakes staff not wearing gloves, while preparing our cupcake order, followed by some serious attitude. My wife wanted to surprise me on Valentine's Day and show a little sweet love. I thought she wasn't paying attention OTW home while maneuvering through the crazy V-Day rush hour traffic in MDR on Lincoln Blvd and I said "where are you going?" Then realizing she pulled into SusieCakes parking lot, I was a very happy camper because I love their lemon creme cupcakes (and cake too) and have celebrated many of my birthdays with these treats. And have recommended them to numerous friends & family. After placing our (minimum 4-cupcake) order we noticed two of the young ladies fulfilling orders weren't wearing gloves, but the 3rd was. They were also using the same sharpie marker to label the boxes. We also observed the gentleman toward the back making cakes wearing gloves. Then my wife observed one of the girls without gloves, who was preparing our 4 cupcake order, lick the frosting off her finger(s) and then proceeded to continue touching our cupcakes while placing them in our box. I nicely asked the girl at the resister, who placed our order, "excuse me, how come she's not wearing gloves and handling our cupcakes?" She says, "our store doesn't require gloves" so I nicely responded, "okay but it's unhygienic, I just got over having a nasty flu, I don't know where her hands have been and I don't want her touching our cupcakes without gloves, and I see others who are wearing gloves." She said, "okay, I understand and will have your order remade." That should've been the end of the story. But when she told the girl we'd like her to put on gloves and remake our order, she turned into the gloveless wonder, hissing & hawing with eye-rolling and the body language of a child. Again it should've been the end of the story. But here's where it got worse: because I'm an understanding person, have the upmost respect for hard workers, and it's Valentine's Day, I tried to thank the girl and nicely said "I'm sorry if we inconvenienced you but" and in mid-sentence, she glares at us and walked away like a child while I was trying to be nice to her. Then the other gloveless girl, intervened and cuts me off in mid-sentence, and shouts at me "don't talk to her!" I said, "excuse me? I'm trying to thank her and say sorry but" and then she shouts at us again and accuses ME of being rude and shouts, "I'm defending her because I heard what you said about her and you're being rude!" I was flabbergasted and said "what are you talking about? All I was trying to do was thank her but now you're the one trying to make me look like the bad guy here when you're the one overacting and being rude & disrespectful." At this point the girl from the register comes over to intervene and apologized for their behavior and says, "I'm sorry...she's been here since 5am and we've all had a long day." I said "I understand and we've had a long day too and we came here to celebrate. Where's the love inside here on Valentine's Day. All I was trying to do was thank her. But the other girl jumped in and yelled at us. You saw how I was nice to you with my request. And I was trying to be nice to her too." She says, "yes you were nice...again, I'm sorry and will talk to them about what happened." IMO, if they're not wearing gloves, they should at least use tongs or parchment paper instead of their hands and fingers, like all other dessert & pastry shops and businesses that are considerate & hygienic. Never in my life have I been treated so rudely and with such an attitude by anyone while shopping. It ruined our experience and tainted our Valentine's night. But we're not going to allow two disgruntled workers with attitude problems get to us and we'll still enjoy our cupcakes. But I will never patronize this location again, and I intend to call the corporate office and explain to them how we were treated. Because this SusieCakes location is Finger-Licking-Bad. A star for the professional young lady at the register who came to our rescue. A star for their delicious lemon creme cupcakes.

I am from Los Angeles and have been to more than 15 SusieCakes locations in the state of CA. THIS is the best SusieCakes location ever! To start, the desserts coming from this location hit on every level because they are being baked and delivered by the kindest, most competent people. The staff at this location cares about service and its customers more than every other location combined and the display case is always prepared with immaculate attention to detail. I also want to say a special thank you to Corey and Leslie for always being so welcoming, eager and thoughtful whenever I and all other customers walk into this bake shop! There are special people working at this location! Thank you for all you do to make special occasions and other days without special occasions meaningful, memorable and sweet for us.

SusieCakes will always have my heart! The most delicious, fresh, perfectly flavored, moist cupcakes on the market. However, this review is for the amazing customer service I received. I came into the shop about 10 minutes before closing, which can usually cause an employee to become disgruntled. But Leslie handled me and my cupcakes with such great care and kindness and even stayed a bit to chat with me. Genuine customer service is hard to come by these days, but my experience with Leslie was like a breath of fresh air!

Service here is bad. Walked in to grab some treats for my kids. 5 people working, no one could bring themselves to help me or package a few cupcakes. Mind you there was no one else in the place. The girl who took my order made sure to ignore me after I paid and went back to doing other stuff rather than just box up a few cupcakes. A 2 min transaction took closer to 15-20 mins. Bad look.

My favorite place to go for red velvet cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. It's also a good place to get seasonal sugar cookies. My favorite this year were the Easter bunny and chick cookies. The location has a decent amount of parking available which is always a plus. The inside is always clean, bright and always welcoming. I've always had great service provided here.

I'm not sure what it is about this specific location but the red velvet (my favorite) is ALWAYS dry! At other locations like San Vicente or Manhattan Beach it's always so moist and delicious! Something is definitely off here. I've come here several times and always had the same issue. I won't be back to this location.
