I’ll be succinct. Culebra is magical, but Susie’s is a magical place INSIDE a magical island! Food 10 out of 10. Preparation top notch. Fish was paired with a wonderful dry white wine chilled to perfection. I don’t like cats, but the cats roaming reminded me of how far away from the ordinary I dine. Carrot Cake with kiwi and brandy soaked fig, stole the show!!! And the gardens are exquisite!!!

Google
Our night was spectacular, the garden in the entrance was BEAUTIFUL our food was delicious and unique and our server (I think his name was Michael, he mentioned being a teacher) was stellar!!!! Truly recommend this place. I loved the cats so those weren’t a problem for me ❤️🫶

Google
Wow this was soooo good! Definitely get a reservation, though we came with out and were able to be seated. The vibes are A+ and the food was amazing. The lobster tail is HUGE though so if you are getting it for sure share with someone, we (2) could barely finish it. Definitely the nicest restaurant in Culebra. 💋🦞❤️

Google
Spectacular meal, and fabulous service. I was hesitant about ordering the lamb chops (not the type of food you normally find on this remote island) but my fear was unjustified. The meal and the exquisite preparation was on par with the best restaurants in San Juan, but much more affordable. The wine list was also especially notable, with excellent choices that were all reasonably priced. After 3 weeks here in Culebra we’ve been surviving on low budget wines from other restaurants and grocery stores; having a wonderful bottle of Tempranillo at Susie’s was heaven! With appetizers, entrees, bottle of wine, and dessert, it was a well spent $60 per person! We will be back!

Google
Beautiful spot for dinner with the most delicious food! Make sure you contact them for a reservation. Loved the garden area it had such a nice atmosphere. The food was amazing and the servers were all very friendly and helpful. Be patient as they do get busy but you can see them working hard to take care of everyone!

Susie’s was a lovely dinner with a casual but beautiful open air garden/patio setting. We loved the ambiance; especially the sweet cats that would wander around very politely asking for pets! The owner apparently feeds a good number of street cats and we loved the additional company. Our waitress (Heather maybe?) was incredible, giving us menu suggestions as well as tips for our visit to Culebritas we had planned for the next day. She was super friendly and we enjoyed chatting with her and learning a little of the history of the restaurant. The food was mostly amazing- we loved the escargot, it was a different preparation than I’ve had before with a sort of buttery herby sauce. Also loved the sides, the beans and rice were top notch and the mixed mash was very fun and interesting though a little dry without sauce- delicious with some sauce from other dishes. I heard very good things about the chicken and shrimp; unfortunately one star off as my husband and I bought got the Mahi-mahi and it was rather chewy and tough. The flavor was there but didn’t really enjoy the texture. I would 100% go back and get the shrimp though!

Google
Wow, wow, wow, absolutely insane meals ❤️ What a place! Went on a Sunday evening and were lucky to get a table without a reservation, we got an appetiser to share, two mains and two deserts, our hearts, souls and stomachs were so full! Truly amazing food, the flavours are so well thought through and the quality of the ingredients is next level. What a gem!

Yelp
Susies is the best known restaurant on Culebra Island. They usually open on Thanksgiving but this year decided to open in October. Great idea? Wait to find out... We started with a bottle of wine similar to a Chardonnay. But let's talk food. I ordered the escargot. If you know anything about me it's that I absolutely love escargot. I will order them any where I can. I have tried them everywhere from NY to Ca and even Spain and Italy. Susies hands down wins in this category. The butter garlic combination is amazingly delicious. And they don't skimp on the escargot. There's plenty of them unlike other places that count them. The service at Susie's? As friendly and as personable as you want. Every one is happy and pleasant but then again you live on the best island that has the #3 best beach (Flamenco). I had the machi machi. Excellent choice! Plus the rice and beans which I grew up on, however they did not make them with sofrito which is really the secret ingredient to making them. But still delicious nonetheless. Over all, I'll continue to visit Susies each day every time I'm here. Since it was my birthday we ordered the Carmel cheese cake to go. Because some things need to be eaten in private. Shhh....

Yelp
This is the upscale restaurant on Culebra. If you're looking for a nice dinner with great food, service and ambiance, this is your place. The wine list is focused on Spanish wines. They have a full bar as well. Service is knowledgeable and very friendly. Seating is limited so you need to make reservations. The Caesar salad is fabulous. Dressing tastes homemade and isn't overwhelming on the crisp romaine. Garnished with shaved parm and tomatoes. The medium is a generous portion, enough to share. I recommend the shrimp in garlic butter. Cooked perfectly. Sweet, tender and so tasty. The gardens are well tended and add a bit of romance and privacy to the restaurant. We understand they're experimenting with opening in October and I hope they're able to justify it bc there is no other choice on the island like Susie's.

Yelp
Food was always delicious and of high quality. I've been away for 12 years when it was in town by the gas station

Yelp
It is amazing food and great service! I recommend it! Actually it is the best food in all island Culebra.

Yelp
Nice and cozy please. The food is great. Service is excellent! My family really enjoyed our special dinner.

Yelp
This was our first dining experience in Culebra. We were greeted by a very friendly & helpful host. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The fries were my favorite part! Be sure to dine here during your stay. You will not be disappointed! Crissy L.

Yelp
Top restaurant in Culebra for sure! So happy our Airbnb hosts recommended it since it was closed due to COVID the first two times we were in Culebra. From the moment you walk in, it has such great, warm, welcoming vibes. Yoga style music, cats everywhere, friendly servers. First we got a bottle of red which was killer and then the food was to die for. You never know what you're going to get in Culebra and I was extremely impressed. We started with the tuna tatake (which was a huge portion), I got the shrimp, and my boyfriend got the filet. All equally amazing. There is no view so recommend sunset elsewhere and I actually loved the vibes here when it was dark. Great date night spot too! I would say as far as nicer restaurants / quality go this is the best in Culebra. Zacos for more casual.

Yelp
Kudos to the team at Susie's for creating the most memorable dining experience in Culebra, hell, I'd even go so far as to say Puerto Rico as a whole. As many of you know and if you're planning a trip to Culebra will soon find out, dining options are extremely limited on the island, and some definitely more, how would I put it, genuinely authentic to Puerto Rico cuisine than others. Susie and her husband Jacinto created something that truly elevates what island cuisine can be, and serves it up with incredible flair. But what really puts Susie's over the edge is the five-star service which, as a hospitality professional myself, is something very hard to come by on the MAINLAND, let alone on an island the size of Culebra. But they managed to find and maintain such passionate and dedicated staff that put this experience to the top of my list during my short two-day sprint around the island. Special shout out to Heidi whose amazing story of moving from the mainland to start fresh in Culebra is inspiring, as well as the entire service team from the 29th who helped make my final dinner on the island one for the books. The menu changes regularly depending on the freshest meat and fish available, so I strongly encourage doing what I did and order the specials of the day. See the below pictures for my delicious and beautifully presented meal. The icing on the cake was a Verdejo that was out of this world and very reasonably priced (I love the focus on Spanish wines considering the history of the island and PR as a whole.) From the amazing value for the experience I had to the service and the incredible ambiance of the Al Fresco dining area, if you come to Culebra without having at least one dinner at Susie's, you're truly missing one of the island's best gems.

Yelp

Yelp
5 stars without hesitation. We went to the restaurant with normal expectations, but can safely say one of the best meals I've had. The servers were also very nice and friendly. We had the most delicious conch fritters and salad. Conch fritters were full of bacalao, and the salad was a simple ceases but also delicious. The food was also very fresh and flavorful! I can't wait until my next time on the island so I can come back. Also, call in advance to make a reservation.

Yelp
This place is extraordinary. Everything from the beautifully plated, unique and delicious foods, wine list, service and ambiance. We ate here two nights in a row -- it was that fantastic

Yelp
Susie's is open. We dined with Susie's 3 times in our week stay. Best on the island. Changing menu daily depending on fresh catch. Good drinks and attentive wait staff! Will return in November on our next trip!

Yelp
Nice little restaurant in Culebra. Great for seafood. Excellent service and food quality. A must if you visit or stay in Culebra.

Yelp
Excellent fresh fish, yet our 22 year resident hosts recommended the steak! So, well rounded menu. Also, very romantic! Spacious.

Yelp
Ambience Rating 5: Open terrace local Caribbean setting with fans and interior patio. Very spacious. Service Rating 5: Attentive and knowledgeable Food Rating 5: Vegan options available. Ordered the cous cous with vegetables and it was exceptional. Susie was receptive to trying vegan options but she always has something on the menu. Good for groups!

Yelp
This place is amazing!! My boyfriend and I went out to eat two times during our Culebra vacation, and I'm so happy this was one of the places we visited. It truly felt like a family run establishment. The service was fantastic. They treated you like you were part of their family, and that was so cool. The food was simply delicious and felt oh so authentic. My boyfriend and I both got specials: the grouper and the grilled lobster. The grouper, while a little intimidating at first, was prepared excellently. So tender and flavorful. The same could be said about the lobster. Both entrees came with island mash, which was a little heavier and sweeter than mashed potatoes. Can't go wrong with carbs. Oh and the ambiance! Lovely and quite romantic on the patio, if you can secure a spot there.

Yelp
Suzie's restaurant was delicious! The prices are bit steep, but the food is well worth it. You get fine cuisine. We had the Shrimp Tempura with the Island Mash as an appetizer, and it was delicious. As our main course, we had the Angus New York steak (medium) with rice & beans, and the meat and seasoning was to perfection. No need to add anything to the meat. We also had the sesame tuna with kimchi and tostones, and that was really delicious too. We highly recommend this place if you want a beautiful romantic setting, or simply have a wonderful dinner with family or friends. However, make sure to make a reservation, especially if you have a large party. We just showed up, but they were almost all reserved. Buen provecho!

Yelp
By far the best dining available on Culebra we have experienced. Beautiful open air layout, garden decor, kind and friendly service and carefully prepared fresh dishes. We received very generous portions of fresh fish including snapper and dorado (mahi) that we couldn't finish even though every bite was lovely. Make a reservation before you go to ensure you get a nice spot in the garden.

Yelp
Wow! By the look of this island we didn't expect to have a 5 star meal but we did at Susie's! Chorizo and cheese appetizer was delicious, ahi tuna with island mash was wonderful and BF said the filet was one of the best steaks he's ever had. Took some carrot cake and chocolate cake back to our room and they lasted us 2 days! Both were excellent.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Susie's is fantastic. I wish I could give them 6 stars. The food is fresh and wonderful. I recommend the white sangria. Great service and delicious food. Definitely worth the price.
google avatar

Yelp
Really great restaurant. Food was excellent!! The inside was awesome, ask to eat in the garden. Softly lit, very romantic. We will definitely eat there again. The service was the best on the island but you really do need to make reservations.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing!!! The food hear tastes like the chef's love placed on a plate. The seafood, traditional Puerto Rican dishes, and the sauces added on top. BoOoOoM!! An explosion (for lack of better word) in my mouth! I'm not a shrimp eater type of person, but I tasted one from my brother plate "Shrimp Tempura with the Ponzu Sauce" WOW! Then I stole another shrimp from my sisters plate "Shrimp with garlic/ajalio sauce". ALSO good! And then The tostones with that sauce, also tasty! I had the churrasco (skirt steak) and rice with beans. (Traditional Puerto Rican) and enjoyed it very much. I've had better but, I've been lucky enough to eat the best skirt steak in Argentina. So, I want compared. Here is Good Enough! Red Rum punches (Don Q Rum) were my drinks and sweet enough to go with the salty tostones. I was just completely satisfied. Let me put it this way, I ate here about a year ago and remember this night. I remember the food did take a while. The restaurant was full but no wait line, although I saw that the kitchen is really really small. Only 2 maybe 3 chefs at a time. So it's understandable. Tips: call to check if they are open and availability. As well as order appetizers as the food might take a while.... Or just keep drinking. Thanks Susie! See you soon around New Years!

Yelp
Romantic spot, amazing food, friendly and service-oriented staff... What's not to love?!?! Visited the restaurant while honeymooning in Culebra with my new hubby, and completely fell in love with the place! Susie's was low on wines by the glass, so I was forced to have a red sangria. Well, LUCKY ME!!! Sangria was spot on! Not too sweet, not too juicy... Just perfect! The food was also delish; we ordered codfish fritters & a beurre blanc mahi. Ooooof, both were heavenly! We finished off with a simple, but classic and big-sized carrot cake. If you are foodie, this place is a MUST!!!

Paola V.

Yelp
Menu said the Lobster tail was 2.5 to 3 lbs, but when served it was not as big as the pictures and it sure wasn't 2.5 lbs. The bartender didn't really do a good job with our drinks, we ended up returning it. Overall the food was ok, nothing special; a bit pricy.
google avatar

Mayra L.

Yelp
This please was amazing!! The lobster was so fresh and the service outstanding. I don't even think of taking a picture of my food, that is how good it was. I am an Island local and recommend this place.
google avatar

Cody T.

Yelp
Not a rating for the business. Just a warning for people that the place is either closed or renovating. We tried 2 times to get there but they don't answer calls or don't seem to be any staff at the location.
google avatar

Kathryn C.

Yelp
Not sure why this place has such high reviews. Because it's the only upscale restaurant on Culebra? Don't waste your money for average food when there are delicious places at half the cost! They forgot our salad, so we went straight to entree. The excuse was, "it's a crazy night." But that doesn't explain the rock hard pile of "island mash" that was inedible with woody fibers you could not chew. So, basically all I had was meat. They offered desserts, but we decided a spoonful of Nutella would be better than anything they could serve. We watched from the bar as everyone unraveled once the sangria was gone. This place is not worth the hype or the wait. Go to the food truck down the road and learn from our mistake.

Yelp
We first visited Susie's in July of 2014, and enjoyed it so much that we chose to fly from New York to have a wedding on Culebra and reception dinner at Susie's. Susie was very helpful and responsive with planning from a long distance. During the reception, you could see she went above and beyond to make it an exceptional experience. The dinner, staff, and ambiance were fantastic. I couldn't pick a better venue, and had many compliments from our 50 guests. We will definitely return anytime we are nearby. Thanks Susie!! Also, the earlier 1 star review makes me sad. When you look at other reviews done by this individual, they are similar. In 2015 all reviews were 1 star except a coffee and car shop. Better luck in 2016....
google avatar

Janet W.

Yelp
Qué rico! Lamb chops for me and chicken breast for the hubby. We eat out a lot and consider ourselves foodies. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the ambience and the service! Thanks for the great meal on our last night in Culebra!
google avatar

Dawn C.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place due to the kind words on Yelp. It was middle of the road. The service was outstanding, we got our food fast... But the food was *eh*. My tuna was good, my bf's *rare* skirt steak was brought to him ranged from medium to well...it was charred on the outside. The masked potatoes were to for for though. Yummy! I thought it was a bit pricey for what we got. I don't mind paying for good food, but this was too *eh* for me. I'll go back to Coconut Grill next time

Dr. Cindy R.

Yelp
It was fantastic! Food, service and atmosphere were off the charts. Beautiful place, fresh food and great service! Best food we've had since we made to the islands. Soey (sp) was a great server. Highly recommend! Culerba is a beautiful island! What a blessing.
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
OMG was this place amazing! I still dream about that lobster and conch salad we had. It was freakin DELICOUS! The lobster was enormous, and we only ordered the quarter lobster because they didn't have any bigger. It was perfect for 2 people. We also had the conch salad. I've never had conch before then, and now, I'm a huge fan of conch! When I go back to Culebra, because I WILL be back to this beautiful island, I'm coming to eat here again.

Yelp
Food 8.5/10 Atmosphere 6/10 Service 10/10 Price for my party of 2, including 2 appetizers 2 entrees, and 3 non alcoholic drinks came to $78
google avatar

Dakota H.

Yelp
Couldn't believe how amazing the food here was. Ask the server what's freshest and go for it. Was blown away with the mahi mahi, tuna, and calamari. The plantains weren't my favorite but that's a small complaint on top of an amazing experience. Also loved the sangria and mojitos.
google avatar

Johanna A.

Yelp
A favorite of our family for years. Never had a bad meal there! Call ahead- she even accepts texts!
google avatar

Nic B.

Yelp
We ate here twice on our trip. It is one of the few places open on Sunday and Monday nights. We had the sangria, which was nice and refreshing. Most of the restaurant is open air, so you can take in the fresh air. I had the special (filet mignon) cooked perfectly to temp with a great presentation. My wife had the jumbo shrimp and loved them. Service was very attentive. Our second visit we had the snapper which was delicious. A great place to relax and enjoy the night.
google avatar

D S.

Yelp
Food is eclectic and well prepared. Steak to several fish and seafood dishes to Indian to hummus ... Rotating daily specials. Small but reasonable wine list and bar. Closest thing to a nice and quiet restaurant on little Culebra. Good place for family or a nice date night. Far less noisy and "wild" than the Dingy Dock, and quieter and more private and spacious than Mamacitas. Covered outdoor eating area, where lighting could be better to improve the ambiance. Ample enough parking across the street. If I was a local, I'm sure I'd frequent 2-3 times a month. Four stars is the highest I've rated anything on this little and changing island that I still love. I'm here for the snorkeling, not the food ;).
google avatar

Clari C.

Yelp
If you have no reservations don't even try coming here. Host was very rude and didn't even try finding a little spot for my husband and I. She didn't even try telling us that we could wait for a table to open up.

Korri W.

Yelp
Best lobster I have ever had. I discovered this gem of a restaurant on my third trip to Culebra. It is now my number one choice. The staff is friendly and kind. The food is tasty with an artful presentation. The environment is relaxed and pleasant.
google avatar

Sabiha O.

Yelp
Good food, prompt service, limited drink option. But the starter salmon tartar with caviar is great both its service and taste. You must try it. Caesar salad was also very fresh and tasty. It is not easy to get a salad with frwah vegetables is difficult on the island. So id you want sone fresh vegetables try caesar salad as the side dish to your entree. If you ask they change the side dish with salad:) We will definetly come again...
google avatar

Kimberly D.

Yelp
Great place. Good atmosphere. Texted he number for a reservation and questions about the menu. Got a quick response. We are vegetarian including kids and the food was great for all. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
Place went down hill. Food was amazing before. Service was awesome. Not sure what happened. Bar tender was rude. Food was terrible. Stick with dinghy dock. They are consistent and good.
google avatar

Lisa K.

Yelp
We got their early (before opening) and they let us in, which was really nice and offered us beer. The setting was very nice and we enjoyed that. The bugs were KILLER...both house flies and Mosquitos, but we were okay with that too because there is only so much you can control in that arena. (In general the bugs were killer everywhere we went this week). The three ranking was because the food was just okay. The menu sounded amazing and we ordered two sides and 4 tapas. Everything seemed to lack basic seasoning. We ordered the octopus salad (octopus cooked really well and tender but not a ton of flavor), the grouper bites (over cooked) the sausage dish (by far the best dish!! We all thought that was extremely tasty), the artichoke salad (kind of bland), the plantains (the sauce was tasty on top but there wasn't a ton of it and then the plantains were not seasoned at all but they were cooked well) and the curries couscous which was tasty but a little overlooked for my liking. There was a ton of waitstaff there and they all looked a little confused. Not sure if they were all new and training or not. They were super nice but they looked a tad confused. Net, we had an enjoyable night, but not a place we would repeat on our trip. We might consider it on a future trip in case they simply had an off night. We did not try dessert. It was all brought over from the big Island which, I guess if it isn't your speciality then that is the way to go, but we were looking to try as local as possible. They could be amazing though for all we know.
google avatar

Becca S.

Yelp
Casual dockside atmosphere. Waitstaff was casual, unassuming, and cool. Food was amazing. Cassava soup was great. Tuna tartar and turnover apps were delish. Filet great, though came out a little rarer than I ordered. Island mash dense but delish. Shrimp great. Tuna Lamb and chicken looked good and got good reviews. Beautiful presentation.
google avatar

Pia S.

Yelp
Great service and great food! The Mahi Mahi was ok, but the tuna was amazing! The appetizers as good as well! It has a nice, cozy, quiet environment and it's very friendly! I would totally recommend.
google avatar

Eva C.

Yelp
Best food in culebra, bar none. I had the chicken breast with asiago and sundried tomato sauce. My husband had the mahi mahi and we both cleaned our plates. The portion sizes were right on point. I was satisfied.
google avatar

Russell C.

Yelp
Dropped in after Mamacita's informed us that we could not be seated as they were closing. Turns out that Susie's could, and was all that. Ordered the yucca soup, spring rolls, and rice with beans, followed that up with the oreo cheesecake. Not sure if is was just the pleasantness of eating under the open sky, or that the food was just that good, but it definitely left a good memorable impression on our dining experience in Culebra, and yes one of the best.
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
Top class from the very moment I called them to request a booking until the end. Service was immediately on hand every time, with sublime recommendations on what to eat and drink!! A wonderful romantic dinner with my girlfriend that was the perfect way to end our stay in Culebra!
