This is my third time coming here and me and my friend always get the best experience. The combination of excellent food as well as lovely service from our server Richard! From the moment we walk in, we feel welcomed. I’ve been informing others about this location to try the many different recommendations that Richard provided alongside the other tempting options. The view is the cherry on top!

Google
Food and Atmosphere will always be the best at Suteishi! But having one of the best server is rare gem - thank you so much Richard! Definitely would come back for this!

From the moment we walked into SuteiShi, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting — the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. But what truly elevated our night was the impeccable service, especially from Richard, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Richard was attentive, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made us feel like honored guests from start to finish. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor — fresh, creative, and absolutely delicious. You can really taste the care and quality in every bite. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just looking for an exceptional night out, SuteiShi is a must-visit. We can’t wait to return and enjoy another amazing evening. Thank you, Richard, and the entire team, for an unforgettable experience!

Google
The vegetable stir fry has delicious udon noodles. We also got an orange dragon roll (8 pieces) - the mayo was so good and not too spicy. Seaweed was a bit hard to chew though. Perfect amount of food for 2 people

Google
Super good food for pretty decent prices. The service was also great. I didn’t have to wait long before my food was served. The atmosphere was comforting and really nice. I loved this place as well as their food!

Google
This is THE SUSHI SPOT in NYC, unbelievable view and world class hospitality rain or shine! We tried the Rainbow Roll and Tuna Ravioli both AMAZING choices. Also got the Vegetable Gyoza and Grilled Eggplant delicious appetizers. Their Pomegranate Margarita and Yuzu Lemonade were refreshing and I will be returning for more real soon! Thank you to the whole team for an unforgettable experience at SUteiShi!😎

Google
The server, Connor, was very attentive and caring. Explained things well and gave me ample time to look over the menu to be sure of what I wanted. He was handling most, if not all the tables at the time, and I really appreciated how he seemed to treat everyone kindly and patiently. The food was delicious. I’ve come in a few times and tried different things. This stir fry was a perfect portion and really flavorful. The atmosphere was amazing

I had the Groupon: Omakase for two. It came with hot sake, 16 Omakase pieces, 1 shared starter, 2 specialty rolls. This is also a regular menu item. Unbeknownst to us, the chef picks everything. Everything. I sat down 10 min before my party arrived and was not given or asked for water not a beverage. I constantly had to ask the bus boy for things throughout the entire meal. The waiter was non-existent for a not so busy place. Half the tables were there previously and the other 4(including myself) were new. The fish provided was room temperature and the only ingredients used were Sriracha, Garlic chips, spicy mayo, and oil. The only thing smoked/scorched was the Salmon. Even the specialty rolls were underwhelming. The hot sake turned cold as soon as it hit the air I guess. The rest rooms were Disgusting and tiny. Would I spend $118 again. Nope! I would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Small family run sushi restaurant that quietly goes about serving up first class sushi at reasonable prices. You wouldn't expect much sitting down but will be smiling from ear to ear when you settle the check. Try the pomegranate margarita to start the meal...it's big on flavour.

Yelp
Hidden gem sushi spot in the seaport area, great for a mid week meal. Staff are very friendly and the vibe is relaxed, with indoor and outdoor seating in the summer. We enjoyed some rolls, and sushi pieces which had some fun and fresh sauces and flavors. I particularly enjoyed the scallop, rainbow roll and ikura. The grilled section has some great options with good flavors. Also got the crab gyoza but they were pretty dry, not much filling. Would skip them next time but would come back for fresh fish.

Emily S.

Yelp
I was shocked by how bad this was tonight and how poor the customer service was. We've ordered from here many times and it's been fine. The raw fish tonight tasted like it came straight out of the Hudson River, sat around for 3 days, and was sold by SUteiShi at an egregious price. We ordered spicy salmon, salmon skin, spicy yellowtail, and the King of NY rolls ($28!), on top of some pieces of raw sushi. Yellowtail tasted like it came out of a can of tuna. Even the cooked crab roll tasted horribly fishy and inedible. The salmon skin was NASTY and you could smell it before you even put it in your mouth. Being fairly loyal customers, we called to ask if we could get any type of refund or acknowledgement as we spent $130 on our order and it went in the garbage. They said the chef says he handled the fish by protocol.... Whatever that means. They also said the manager wasn't in so they didn't know what to do - mind you, it's a Saturday night. Side note - they put a piping hot miso soup in with the raw fish when I went to pick it up so the fish was warm when we got it. Disgusting. There were 2 tables in there when I went to pick my order up. Figures! Will not be back and will no longer be suggesting this place to anyone in the area. For these prices, you're much better off going to Blue Ribbon Sushi down the street.

Yelp
A Pleasant surprise. The food was great , the grill eggplant starter was excellent as well as 3 large roles . Fantastic service and cool off the Fidi location . If you around I definitely recommend !!!

Yelp
I have heard of this spot for several years, and I finally ordered takeout for dinner. I ordered the Salmon Yaki Udon to go. The dish was very freshly made, and it remained warm after my 90-minute commute home. The dish was a good portion for two people and tasty even for the toddler. A few days later, I had an impromptu omakase dinner 8 pieces of sushi plus a specialty roll for under $60 as I try to figure out how to get home since downtown express buses were canceling and rerouted thanks to the UN Summit. I enjoyed my meal plus the staff and Yelp offered free sake. I had the cocktail sake, hot sake made in-house, and the overflowing shot of Soto sake. The specialty rolls are definitely worth trying. I had the Orange Dragon Roll, which was very good. I also ordered the blue crab dumplings. It was ok but much needed after all the sake consumed. The next day, I ordered takeout for lunch, and I just had to get the SuteiShi Pearl Roll made with fried oysters, cucumber, Kani, and House spicy mayo. This roll hit the spot, and the oysters were perfectly fried. I'd definitely return to take more of their specialty rolls and maybe explore their happy hour, if available.

Yelp
The food, service, and ambiance was all perfect. 10/10 recommend to receive amazing sushi!

Yelp
It's absolutely amazing. Best sushi I've ever had. Never had sashimi before. It wasn't bad. A bit interesting.
google avatar

Jillian B.

Yelp
I would give a 3.5 if I could, but rounding up since nothing was particularly bad about the meal. My partner and I stopped by as we were in the area and in the mood for sushi. We ordered shrimp shumai and 3 rolls, which were all good but a bit overpriced. The prices on their website are a little outdated, so when we got there, it was a bit pricier than we had anticipated.

Yelp
One of my favorite sushi restaurants, hands down. As a self proclaimed sushi snob, I've frequented SUteiShi about a dozen times and have never had a bad experience. I wouldn't necessarily say I have a favorite, but will note the consistency of very fresh fish, speciality items and overall ingredients being top notch. I've fallen in love with the avocado Kani salad and this has become mandatory for any visit. Don't let the price point or size of the portions derail you from this amazing sushi experience.

Yelp
Highlights: service and ambiance Lowlights: the food Located on a very cute stone street near the south street seaport, SUteishi brings a trendy flare to basic Japanese cuisine. And while we weren't impressed, we did appreciate the kind service & fun location. This is my 3rd time coming here and I will say that they are consistent! The quality has not dwindled and things seem to improve each time I dine in. However, the food never leaves a memorable mark on me. It's good! Not great. Definitely not bad. The chicken teriyaki was a great portion size with white breast meat. Not my favorite, but the presentation was very nice. Rice bowl was little dry unfortunately. Edamame and fried oysters got the job done. The sashimi platter was eye catching and super fun. The fish was fresh - not the best ever though. It didn't melt in my mouth like I hoped it would. I found myself chewing a lot and pulling apart stringy pieces at times. The sushi rolls were also good but not great. Everything was prepared so well, but we just weren't into it. SUteishi will fix your Japanese food craving & it's a great date/meetup spot. However, the food was nothing to write home about.

Yelp
We stopped here after we sat down for a few drinks at pier 17 and we were craving sushi. It was a perfect summer evening for outdoor seating. Tip: remember to check in on Yelp and claim your free hot sake. We ordered the orange Dragon speciality roll and two regular rolls. The sushi was fresh and well put together. I'd definitely go back. The pricing is fairly decent too.

Betty M.

Yelp
The greatest sushi I've ever tasted, hands down. I couldn't compare it because it was my first time eating sashimi, but it wasn't horrible at all.

Yelp
Great food and service. The rolls are unique. Inside and outside seating options.

Yelp
Overpriced for what you get. Wait staff is spotty. Would not return. Go elsewhere. Eggplant appetizer was pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered home delivery and some rolls barely had any fish. I'm very disappointed. I often order sushi from this restaurant and go there as well, but recently I wasn't really happy with the food. I hope they can get back to the quality they had before.

Yelp
We happened to be in FiDi for 4th of July and ended up here. So glad we did!! We sat outside which was nice. First we ordered the Handmade Blue Crab Gyoza which was really delicious and filling! Then we got the special roll they had for 4th of July and omg it was probably the best roll we've ever had! The waiter sold us on it so we got it. It had avocado, white tuna and crunchy tuna on top. It wasn't overly crunchy but the perfect amount. We recommended that it should be on the permanent menu it was that good. Then we got the wavecrest: spicy yellowtail, cucumber, jalapeños on top. This was also good but not as good as the special. Both rolls were some of the best rolls we've had which was surprising to us. We definitely want to come back and try their other popular rolls!
google avatar

Yelp
Slightly elevated sushi place located close to Pier 17 if you want to grab something before a concert. Service was quick, prices were fine, eel rolls were chintzy. Music was incongruent considering the crowd was mainly tourist families.
google avatar

Sheena T.

Yelp
It's very difficult to have sushi taste delicious and presentable in delivery, and SUteiShi exceeded expectations. We ordered the 10 piece Nigiri as well as two rolls: the orange dragon and the samurai roll. The sushi was very fresh and full of flavor - I didn't feel disgustingly gross after consumption or heavy. Definitely recommend for takeout and I would like to try this place in person - especially since it's so close to my apartment.

Yelp
First time trying this place and I just didn't fall in love with it like some other Yelp reviewers. Overpriced Japanese that describes itself as fine dining and granted--the fish was fresh but I definitely had better rolls elsewhere. It was a somewhat mild evening and the outdoor space was pretty nice. Actually all windows were open for the interior dining area as well. Red was their theme in terms of decor. Quite nice. The menu was diverse and there were some Asian small plates/tapas style dishes to choose from--for example tuna raviolis. In viewing the menu, I wasn't sure if the fusion aspect of these creations worked well. FYI: They don't have a full liquor license which meant wine, beer or sake. There were a couple Saketini cocktails on the menu. I decided to go with a pretty good Reisling and later switched to a hot sake. In terms of food, my friend and I both chose a standard roll and a special or Belly-Licious roll. I selected the Spider/Shrimp Tempura ($9) for my standard roll and the Samurai for the special roll. The latter included spicy blue crab, cucumber, crunch, red snapper, and avocado on top ($19). Honestly, I didn't taste much of the blue crab. The presentation of the rolls on the plate was appealing and service was attentive. And although the seafood was fresh, I didn't feel wowed with the flavors especially at $71 for my share.

Yelp
Visited last weekend in NY for a quick dinner. We were craving something unique and wanted to treat ourselves as it was our last night in town. We were staying near the financial district and found this spot along the water in a cute area. I had never done an omakase as Ive never wanted to shell out $100+. We saw they had an omakase special for 2 for $110 and this sold us. While this was a little less traditional as normally you receive one piece at a time, this was worth it. Their special comes with 16 pieces, an appetizer, and two speciality rolls. We left pretty full so this was worth the price paid. The appetizer was a breaded fluke - it was my first time trying this fish and it didn't disappoint. We also added on the king crab miso and I wish every miso I'd eat from now on, would have crab! As for the speciality rolls, we got the SUteiShi Pearl and Kimono. As a salmon lover, I was surprised to actually have favored the SUteiShi roll more (oysters + crab). The Kimono was still amazing and I loved the kelp paper as I'd never tried this. The nigiri was so fresh and my favorites were the fluke and one of the yellowtails. I just wish the rolls were more easily labeled as I got confused by having so many yellowtail options. The waitress did explain this but it was hard to remember. We also ordered tea and it had a very good smoky flavor. Overall, service was quick and servers seemed to care about your experience. The atmosphere was lovely with dark red lighting giving it an overall chic vibe. I'll definitely be stopping by on my next NYC trip.

Yelp
The only Sushi and Japanese place I will go to in the Financial District. I am a regular. Delicious food and wonderful service. Crystal and Katie make me feel like I'm at home! Eric B.

Yelp
COST · $$$ PROS · Free birthday cookie. · Of interest was an order of tuna on five pieces of chips. CONS · Expensive fare for somewhat okay food. IMPRESSION · We looked for places to hold a birthday dinner. In short, the food was okay (small portions) and expensive. However, the South Street Seaport area is a place of interest and hence the price of fares. So, I wouldn't come here if you'd like both 'tasty' food and a view. (The view is a short walk to the pier.) I wouldn't choose this spot again for a birthday dinner. I'd give the spot a solid... 2.89. I'll round up to 3.0.

Yelp
We got a delivery of their spicy salmon roll and it was absolutely delicious. So good in fact that we got more. It was fresh, plentiful, and full of flavor. We also spoke with the staff directly here and they are absolute sweethearts. 10/10.
google avatar

Yelp
Just okay. There aren't too many other good sushi options in Fidi. SUteiShi quality was mediocre especially given the price and the portions were small. I wasn't so impressed with the rolls. It's also not the most authentic sushi either. The main positive is that they have options for people who are picky or have food allergies. For example you can order sushi with steamed sweet potato inside.
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Our family is very picky when it comes to food. Suteishi has exceeded our expectations. The quality of the food is great. I believe that its one of the best Japanese restaurant in NYC! Good food and excellent service, thanks also to Tommy who gave us an amazing dining experience. Its a secret Gem that everybody needs to discover.

Yelp
I LOVED IT! Honestly, going to dinner here was a huge highlight of my time in New York. I was able to sit outside, and didn't need a reservation either. If you're visiting, definitely check this place out. It's also close to the Seaport, so be sure to walk around and enjoy the views. We ordered a few different starters, and I think the Hot and Crispy shrimp was my favorite. It reminded me of tempura shrimp, but in a popper form. There was a spicy, Sriracha type sauce on the top and it balanced the fried shrimp out quite well. The eggplant was good, and I thought it was perfectly cooked. The miso soup was also good - but it was pretty standard. I forget the exact name of the salmon specialty roll that I ordered, but it came with spicy salmon with truffle oil. It was AMAZING. I have never had salmon with truffle oil - but now I'm wondering why it's not on every menu!

Carly L.

Yelp
Delicious sushi with a great atmosphere! We came in later, and the staff was patient and polite. The miso soup and sushi were great, and you have to try the edamame with their sauce!

Hillary Kate S.

Yelp
One of the best sushi place in Lower Manhattan! Lychee and Peach Saketini is to die for and Tuna Ravioli

Yelp
Cute little sushi spot right by the seaport. Fresh food, great drinks and service. Perfect ambiance for a date night or if you're in the mood for fresh sushi.

Yelp
Ordered via ubereats. Arrived quickly, very fresh, well priced. Will definitely order again.

Yelp
Overall: Great lunch place, tucked away in corner Ambience: Not too fancy, not hole in the wall either. Good lunch place located in financial district. We came on a Friday and it was largely dead (given most people are WFH). Menu: Lots of options for rolls and sashimi. Regular maki rolls are $9 per. Specialty rolls are $15 per. Go for the speciality rolls, they are delicious. Appetizers were great too, especially the blistered peppers. Drinks: They had Sapporo on draft, $10 for a 16oz, and it hit the spot. Several other options for beer and cocktails if you are into that. Service: Very attentive, place is kept clean, which is important during covid. Will come here again.

Yelp
The food was delicious also though fried oysters were delicious The service was amazing. Five stars

Yelp
Excellent food best sushi best rolls in Orange Dragon, Red Dragon, and other speciality sushi. Udon noodle steak and salmon are great. Hot and crispy shrimp is the best!

Annie Y.

Yelp
This is my favorite sushi place in the city! It may not look like much on the outside but it's actually very quaint and homey. They do serve good quality sushi here and the food is always fresh. My favorite dishes are the Spicy Tuna Crisps, Dragon Handroll, and Samurai Specialty Roll. They're the only location I've seen with the Spicy Tuna Crisps. Although it's just spicy tuna placed on top of a crispy wonton, I just can't stop eating them...so addicting! Their Dragon Handroll is the best! It's literally so stuffed with pieces of eel and avocado that anymore it would burst. The Samurai Roll is my favorite from the speciality rolls. It's very light, refreshing, and not completely covered in spicy mayo to camouflage the flavor of the sushi.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We live in Fidi for years. Suteishi is always excellent. The Omakase is delicious. You get to try cool things and combinations you've never had. The service is great. This restaurant is solid. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
Again, Suteishi did not disappoint. I come to this amazing sushi place from time to time since I enjoy the special atmosphere that surrounds this area. The crew is extraordianrilly helpful and experienced. The service is always efficient. We were served by Tommy who was kind enough to attend to our needs and suggested great stuff in the menu. Very knowledgeable. We were even greeted and welcomed by the sweetest manager Katie. The food they serve is highly distinguished. I have been there often and I was always satisfied.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
First thing which stood out was how nice and pleasant ALL the staff were at every interaction. From initial greeting, to thank yous, you're welcomes, etc. Amazingly polite and that was refreshing. Food seemed of good quality too but for whatever reason a couple of us talked about how flavorless it was. Not exactly sure why but I'll guess the soy sauce is between low salt to no salt which did nothing to enhance the dishes. I even put a hunk of wasabi in my mouth to see if that had any kick (which it did, trust me). Overall though, it's a good place to go and enjoy a meal.
google avatar

Waf P.

Yelp
We just came from a 10 mile run and passed by at this trendy restaurant for dinner. We had the seared scallops fusion sushi and it was amazingly delicious! thanks to Tommy for the superb recommendation! Now we can run another 10 miles!
google avatar

Colin C.

Yelp
This place gets busy at dinner. I get it, I get it. You want to eat outside and enjoy the nice summer weather at the Seaport after being cooped up in your apartment and you love sushi. So why not come to Suteishi for a nice dinner, right? Well, if you actually eat sushi frequently, you'll be disappointed here. The whole "open atmosphere" carries over into the restaurant, so the temperature at the sushi bar is the same 80+ degree heat as the pavement. What does that translate to? WARM, ROOM TEMPERATURE RAW FISH. When was the last time you ate yellowtail with the bloodline in? I'll wait....still waiting....oh never? That's because the bloodline is supposed to be removed BEFORE serving so you don't get the fishy taste from it. Come for the overpriced sushi, cocktails served in scratched up plastic cups, and stay for the bloodline yellowtail. Because they have so many tables and chairs and only one sushi bar, be prepared for a lot of commotion, couriers waiting 20+ minutes over your back for delivery orders, and a lack of staffing.
google avatar

Maricel R.

Yelp
It was my first time dining at this cozy Japanese restaurant named Suteishi in Seaport area. I enjoyed the Fried Oysters and Grilled Black Cod recommended by the friendly waiter Tommy. I must say, it was delicious. I highly recommended this place. The food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. . Next time, I will bring my husband so he could enjoy it too.
google avatar

Aileen T.

Yelp
The sushi and other dishes like the seafood medley on a steamed rock are awesome. The customer service is great too. Tommy was very accomodating to my dietary needs! Will definitely come back again!

Vo V.

Yelp
We have been in this place maybe 5-6 times and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. By far favorite spot that keeps us coming back. As usual Mark (the waiter) was super nice and attentive, the rest of the staff are very pleasant as well. Over all the experience is always great and the food is fresh and tasty. But do try the Tuna Ravioli ..... Delicious , we even got another order after our whole meal.
google avatar

Alicia B.

Yelp
Loved this place and it's location! The sushi was great, my table got the omakase which I recommend if you're not a picky eater because we got to try a little bit of everything. The dinner for two comes with a lot!
google avatar

Heena J.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for a quick dinner the other night. I really enjoyed this place! They had there doors open so it was breezy, you have a nice view of the bridge and it is in a great location. I ordered a cucumber and avocado roll which you can't really go wrong with. I was full with two rolls!
google avatar

Izzy L.

Yelp
Such good prices for amazing and fresh sushi. I recommend the eel avocado roll, as it was the best I had ever tried.
google avatar

Regina S.

Yelp
Melt in your mouth amazing sushi + attentive staff There's not a ton going in in FiDi but let me tell you this place is incredible if you're in the area. Right on a cute cobble stone street of the seaport area, the staff is extremely friendly and attentive, and the food is impeccable. Prices are decent, on the higher end but so worth it We started with a seaweed salad which had real mixed greens throughout and was not soaked in dressing giving it an amazing yet refreshing texture and shishito pepper which were to die for! Whatever seasoning was on them was amazing and not too oily The sushi - wow melts in your mouth and not coated in sauce not too much rice. We got the red dragon, wavecrest and House party (fav in that order) was slightly underwhelmed by the lack of bacon and spice in the house party otherwise everything was amazing Blue crab gyoza was clearly grab and crispy with a mild crab flavor
google avatar

Yelp
came here for a quick snack and it did not disappoint me. food here is awesome as always. loving the ambiance and the view here, since it's close to the river. very new york. service here is 101%, mandy who assisted me is *chef's kiss* very friendly! Salute! Definitely coming back

Yelp
Tables are shaking fixed myself, smells really bad and the staff is friendly only when bring a check. Sushi had bones in it. Not recommend. 2 stars for location only
