These Are the 7 Best Beaches in Indonesia, Beyond Bali

"Reached via a roughly 20-minute stair hike, this postcard-perfect cove is hugged by towering cliffs and boasts improbably radiant aquamarine water with a dramatic conical rock rising from the bay; photographers will find morning light and lower tides the most rewarding, and nearby Atuh offers another striking cliff-descent beach option." - Travel + Leisure Editors

I’m someone who likes going off the beaten track and escaping the crowds. So I loved the adventure of this beach. However it’s not for a faint of heart. The steps are very steep. Takes about 20 minutes to get down. You need to descend a ladder using a rope as well. Magical beach when you arrive, I was totally by myself. Bring water and don’t leave it too late to hike back up. Also, be careful the monkeys. They were a bit aggressive and there isn’t room to go around them.

The hidden gem that just hit different. This is one of my favorite beaches in Nusa Penida. Be minded that to reach this beach, you have to finish hundreds of steps and only go there before the high tide (before 11am). It is aggressive when high tide. But believe me, this beach is worth every minute you visit it.

Best beach in nusa penida by far. Not easy to reach and far from tourist life thanks to this. Long and steep stairs to go down, sometimes without a fence to save you from falling. At the end there is a short rope to climb, no stairs for the last few meters. I loved the trip down but more importantly you have a stunning view when you arrive down. It seems like a portrait. Uncontaminated and populated just by the fishermen of the above village.

It is NOT closed but also not maintained - way down is challenging but not crazy dangerous, just leave your flip flops at home 😄 take good shoes, walk slowly and you’ll get to the bottom. Then, there’s a solid rope to climb down to the beach. We arrived at high tide and left during low tide - it’s possible to find a good beach spot during high tide, but definitely easier during low tide. It’s the most beautiful beach spot - no people, amazing nature, beautiful water color and… we saw dolphins not far from the shore! Magical experience 🫶

Amazing secret white sand beach. Track is a bit tough bit doable and need to use a rope to reach the beach. Be aware of the monkeys. Then the beach is yours

Nestled beneath towering rocks lies a secluded beach accessible solely via a weathered, steep staircase. The descent to this hidden gem is devoid of railings, adding an element of adventure to the journey. It takes approximately 15 minutes to navigate down the staircase, while the ascent back up can range from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on one's pace. Despite the challenging access, the beach boasts pristine sands, although the path leading down is strewn with numerous stones. During high tide, the beach becomes almost entirely submerged, revealing its rocky bottom and showcasing the power of the crashing waves that grace its shores. It's worth noting that after 3 pm, the sun dips below the horizon, making sunbathing a less viable option for visitors. However, the unique beauty and tranquility of the beach remain unchanged, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Additionally, an entrance fee of 5,000 Indonesian Rupiah is required to access this hidden paradise.

Maybe best beach I've ever visited. Super steep but short stairs down definetaly worth it. Clean, pristine place where we met only one other couple in about hour. At the end there are no rocks so you can get into water, but waves are strong so its for refreshment rather than swimmimg. I expect this place to be crowded in few years because its complete gem.
