SVARAM Experience - Sound Garden

SVARAM Sound Garden is a peaceful spot tucked amidst lush greenery in Auroville. Entry fee is ₹150 per head and includes a well-guided tour where you can explore unique sound instruments and enjoy a calm, creative atmosphere. The place is well-maintained with clean toilets and decent parking space. However, during my visit, several instruments were closed or under maintenance, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, a refreshing and educational one-time visit experience

Visiting Svaram was a unique and memorable experience. The sound garden, filled with a wide variety of handmade musical instruments from different materials and cultures, is fascinating. You can try out the instruments, and the guided tour is very informative, helping you understand the science and art behind the sounds. The environment is peaceful, and the place offers an opportunity to experience sound healing and learn about the therapeutic effects of music. The staff are friendly and explain things clearly. I especially enjoyed the interactive sound installations and the soothing atmosphere of the whole place. It’s worth a visit for anyone interested in music, sound therapy, or unique cultural experiences.

It is 200m from SVARAM showroom. It is a sound garden. Here you can go and experience the sound. There are various sound installations throughout the garden. You can book a tour of the instruments, where a guide will come and explain how to play every instrument inside the garden. After that you can have a go. It is a place where you can spend quite some time, play around with instruments, have a seat in the shade of trees and enjoy ✨

It was truly a wonderful experience visiting this place. What fascinated me the most was the unique phenomenon of the stones producing cool, resonating sounds when struck. The natural acoustics left me both surprised and amazed, making the visit even more memorable.

Recently, my friends, cousins, and I visited the SVARAM Experience – Sound Garden in the evening. The garden operates in two time slots: Morning (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM) and Afternoon (2:30 – 4:30 PM), with an entry fee of ₹150 per person. The visit was truly worthwhile we had an amazing sound experience interacting with metal objects and strings, and the guide provided clear, detailed explanations. The place was well-maintained, making it a must-visit in Auroville. However, the environment can get quite hot, so I’d recommend visiting in the evening and avoiding peak sunny hours.

A truly unique experience! This place offers a rare chance to explore a wide variety of musical instruments paired with diverse musical styles. It’s both engaging and educational. Definitely worth a visit for music lovers and curious minds alike.

SvARAM - Sound garden is a different novel concept - tourist who visit Auroville must also pay visit here. Please be aware that 1.30 to 2.30 is closed for lunch time. Guide take you through the natural and man made metallic, stone and string instruments to create amazing variation in sounds. Very interesting to experience the different sounds. Though many do not follow 100% what the guide talks in English one can later come back and play the sounds to experience the same. If you enjoy the experience give a thumbs up.

Nice place.. Went by 2.30 PM.. 150 per person... Only a few visitors with us.. So, we had enough time to play the instruments .. This place is on the outskirts of Pondicherry ... we have to plan accordingly to reach the Svaram.. After this I went to sadhana forest.. Had some good time..
