"Opened late 2016. (from Departures: Tamil Nadu’s ancient capital, Tanjavur, becomes more accessible with the December opening of Svatma. Housed in a restored, century-old family mansion, the 38-room hotel is the first luxury accommodation in Tanjavur. The city, often regarded as the cradle of Southern Indian religion, architecture, and art, is an ideal base for exploring the Great Living Chola Temples and experiencing Bharatanayuam, a form of classical dance. Each of the 38 rooms has a slightly different design, but all feature traditional dark woods and Indian artwork. An ayurvedic spa, yoga center, pool, and gym appeal to wellness seekers, and Aharam restaurant serves vegetarian Tamil cuisine. Cultural immersion is at the heart of Svatma and the staff have curated eight experiences such as bronze casting demonstrations and cooking classes.)"

I recently had lunch at Svatma Hotel, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, with each dish bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors, and beautifully presented. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making for a truly enjoyable meal. What made the visit even better was the exceptional service from Sarah, the Guest Service Manager. She was incredibly polite, professional, and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was perfect. Her personalized recommendations and friendly attitude made me feel truly valued as a guest. Overall, I highly recommend Svatma for anyone looking for great food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be back!

I had a fantastic stay at Svatma Hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, with a comfortable bed and great bathroom. The food was excellent, with fresh, flavorful dishes for both breakfast and lunch. The service was outstanding, especially from Sarah, the Guest Service Manager. Serene and tranquil place. The welcome was heart warming and foot massage was so good! A great place to simply chill and rejuvenate during your travels. Their garden and surrounding area is so peaceful. Saw an individual yoga class in the garden, loved hearing the wind chime and rustle of leaves in the garden.

Very nice hotel at first glance. Built in a well renovated historic building.|Cozy, friendly and helpful staff. Upon arrival, a 10-minute welcome foot massage is offered in the spa pool.|The restaurant is only vegetarian. Good but very spicy. Anyway, not for everyone. I liked almost everything, but my husband was desperate. The portions are exaggerated, so it's hard to finish a dish unless you share it. Too bad, so much waste.|The atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming and the furnishings sought after. The centerpiece, however, with greasy spots.|The wifi connection is very unstable.|Bad breakfast.|Friendly and helpful SPA staff. Well-kept SPA.|Large and comfortable room. Nice furniture. Spacious bathroom, functional, but needs renovation.|The air conditioning cannot be adjusted, it is too cold or it is too hot.

I would give this place a zero if I could! Upon checking, we found the room dirty, the floor was horrendous and the shower was no better. There were no toilet rolls and tissues. When we asked for tissues, it arrived in a broken and used box. Dinner was a farce. Sure there was a buffet but we asked for an a la carte menu. Upon selecting our food, we were promptly then informed that the a la carte menu was not really recommended and we should stick to the buffet! And to cap off a memorable day, our drinks and water did not arrive until we finished the dinner!||This is not a Relais and Chateaux property - it was once but no longer. We checked out a day earlier to escape the horrible Svatma experience.

The rooms and design of the building were lovely, with a curated collection of artwork and antique musical instruments, and fragrant flowers laid out in geometric patterns on the floor, tables and carved benches. You are greeted with a foot and ankle massage you have to wade through a shallow pool to get to (which becomes a deeper pool fed by fountains). Having said that, I found the food merely good enough.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Svatma in Tamil Nadu, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience! The hotel's ambiance, amenities, and services all exceeded my expectations. The rooms were clean, and extremely comfortable. The housekeeping team, led by the exceptional Ankit Sandhu, ensured that every detail was taken care of. Ankit's attention to detail, professionalism, and warm hospitality made our stay even more special.
