Ambience: Very Nice Food taste: Full of Oil Service: Good Note: I found too much oil in one of the curries which the waiter did notice and tried to replace it with less oil one but it was of no help as the oil was floating all over the curry. overall good location and ambience. Cost: $$$ (higher side) Cant eat daily there as cannot afford to have ao much of oil.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Swagat Restaurant with my colleagues, and I must say it was an awesome experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm atmosphere that set the tone for our evening. The food was absolutely fantastic, with a diverse menu that catered to everyone's tastes. Each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented, making our meal even more enjoyable. Equally impressive was the service. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our visit. Their promptness and willingness to accommodate special requests truly enhanced our experience. I highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy great food and excellent service, whether for a casual outing or a special occasion.

This restaurant is definitely the best Indian restaurant in Munich. I’ve tried many Indian restaurants all around the city and the team from the Swagat restaurant always delivers the same quality of great food, very attentive service and overall the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. If you are unsure where to go then Swagat is one of the best restaurant options in the whole city.

Outstanding service. Every single waiter was amazing. Food was very delicious, they adapted quickly to my food allergies. It was not a problem and they did not make fun of me because of it. Love it. I was telling my friend all the time how much I live their service there. The music was not too loud, was perfect. Even if there were many tables, i did not feel stressed because of people talking. Save that place ;)

We ordered the Vegetarian Jalfrezi and the Punjabi chicken from the lunch menu. Lunch included a soup or salad. We ordered soup, that day it was of vegetables. The portions were just perfect for lunch. The soup was really good. Both dishes were very tasty, if you are not used to spicy, the Punjabi chicken will be beyond your pleasant level of spiciness. The terrace is quite nice and is covered, so it is great even in a rainy day. The staff was busy, but still managed to be prompt and checking on the table regularly. Finally, the prices for a great lunch, were quite reasonable.

Must visit Restaurant in Munich. We went for dinner and food was delicious. We ordered both veg and non veg and i would say it was very palatable. We tried kulfi and gajar halwa in desert which was really flavorful. I suggest everyone to must visit.

We asked if a table was available and were accommodated, but shortly after, we were informed that the kitchen would be closing in 5 minutes. If we would know , we would not choose to stay, as we did not wish to eat under time pressure. We ordered soup and one dish, but received the dish without sauce and rice, when we ask for missing rest, they answered unpleasantly that the kitchen is now closed. Despite this, we were charged the full price! Food was below average quality…

Yelp
Excellent Indian food! Infact it is comparable with the best restaurants in India. We tried Karahi chicken, Palak Paneer and Lamb, which were all delicious. Mango cream dessert nicely closed our Sunday lunch. The staff is exceptionally friendly. We were suggested by the staff to not look at the menu while ordering. They said just say what you want and we'll make it even if it's not in the menu !! Way to go!!

Yelp
Thali was good, service is fantastic. Better than "German-Indian" cooking, but still a bit lacking if you are searching for that authentic Indian taste. The decor is very nice.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Swagat is a neighborhood Indian restaurant right around the corner of Prinzregentenplatz. We came for dinner as a group of 8 (with reservation), and even though we did not all come at once, the staff didn't seem to be bothered by that. We sat outside in their somewhat narrow outdoor area, but the staff did manage to fit us 8 comfortably. There were at least 4-5 servers, yet the service was slow and inattentive. Every time we want to order, we have to make strong eye contact with any of the waiters, and with 4-5 waiters, you would think that'd be easy. Not in our case (some waiters even just stood around, chitchatting with one another). We started with the vegetable appetizers to share, which were mostly pakoras with 4 various dips. No problem with that, but they were a bit cold and unfortunately not as crispy. The dips were underwhelming but wasn't bad. The main entrees were hit-or-miss. The hits were Baingan Ka Bharta (my favorite with mashed eggplants, onions, and tomatoes) and Shahi Baingan (eggplants with homemade cheese and ginger in almond sauce). The misses were Mixed Vegetables Mango (too sweet for my taste) and Murgh Nilgiri (chicken with coriander leaves, mint and different herbs, green chili, coconut milk; too salty). No complains about the sides (garlic naans, mint prantha, vegetable prantha, pappad). The prices are a little on the higher side but not outrageous. Overall, if you are in the area and crave Indian food, Swagat is not a bad place to go. But if you are craving Indian food and willing to travel, then there are better places to go.

Yelp
This place is so good I went twice in one day!! Must admit, they're spiciest spicy isn't much where I come from (and that's just America so that says a lot) but it's all still delicious!

Yelp
The best Indian restaurant in munich! I've tried multiple indian restaurants in my life and this one is definitely the best! The Lunch price is really affordable and the food is incredible delicious!

Yelp
We went during lunch and they were pretty quick at taking our orders and bringing out the drinks. Unfortunately they got the drink order wrong and it had to be corrected as well as getting one of the entrees wrong. By the time we got our food my friend didn't want to wait for his meal to be remade and decided to eat what they gave him. He was still happy with the meal and we all thought that the quality and flavor of the dishes were excellent. The lunch deals were pretty well priced and come with either the soup of the day or a salad. The interior is cozy and the staff is friendly. It gets pretty busy at lunch and am not sure how busy it is at night. We will definitely go back but next time will make sure to confirm our orders.

Yelp
Walking in, we saw at least 5 parties of Indian folks gathered around a table eating. Always a good sign. The food was stellar though the garlic nan was a little top buttery. And the vindaloo could have been hotter. Ambiance is nice too but really you're there for the food, so go there for the food already. It's worth it. Update: I eat here weekly. There is no competition in Munich for this restaurant. However be prepared to be seated at 2200 for a 2100 reservation and expect long waits for your food. It is alrightthough, they are back there making your meal out of magic and unicorns. Yum.

Yelp
Swagat is an Indian restaurant in Munich serving North Indian food. It's located right next to a U Bahn station making getting there easy. The atmosphere is cosy as the restauarant is located in a basement of an old building (in a beautiful beautiful area) and it is decorated with Indian fabrics and dark tones. Being the only person of Indian origin amongst my colleagues, I was surprised when everyone wanted to go to get Indian food on our last night in Munich. I was angling for a Bavarian meal but went with their desire to eat Indian food. The food/drinks: I ordered a Mango Campari drink. The drink came with a separate serving of fresh mango juice and a glass HALF full with Campari. This for about 4 Euros. I'm telling you...drinks in Europe are cheaper than Diet Coke or water. The drink was very pretty and definitely had quality ingredients but it was a little too strong for me. We started with the Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese) Pakoras. Very crispy and tasty. The Samosas were also laudable. The filling was delicious and the flaky pastry was perfect. The Onion Bhaji that we ordered was rather strange. It was literally onion rings. Totally not what I expected and also nothing too special. I ordered the Vegetarian Thali (rice, 3 vegetable curries, raita (yogurt salad)). The food definitely lacked in the salt department. It did taste good but definitely nothing that blew me away. The rest of the peeps ordered Chicken Tikka and a Tandoori Meat Sampler as well as a Lamb Curry. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food lots. Now for my gripe with Swagat. I was totally disappointed and might I say appalled at their service. When we got in, we were greeted and told to sit at the bar while they got our table ready. At the bar, someone asked us if we had been asked to sit at the bar or if we were randomly there. Then when we got to the table, multiple waiters came to ask us for our drink order. During the meal, I ordered a Diet Coke. I waited at least 15 mins for it before a co-worker had to go up to the bar to order it. It still didn't come. So we asked for one 2 more times before it finally got to our table. The service was so dismal that all of us lost appetite for dessert and just wanted to settle the bill and leave. 3.5 stars for the food and 2 stars for the service. All in all a 2.5 star review rounded to 3. Note that this was the only place I've had Indian food in Munich so I'm not clear about the standard for Indian food in Germany. This is my review based on experiences I've had at Indian restaurants in America as well as the Indian meal I had in Rome.

Yelp
Not sure why this place doesn't have higher ratings. For only being 3 stars, this place has great food, a great ambiance and it's super convenient in location. The restaurant was PACKED when we got there around 7pm for dinner but they seated us quickly. They really squeeze everyone in like sardines at this place so that would be my only complaint but other than that, it was a great dinner.

Yelp
This place was close to my hotel. I went there during lunch time with my friend. We ordered Karahi Chicken,Chicken Tikka Masala, naan, and basmati rice. We enjoyed a good meal. Homely environment, good service and good quality food.

Yelp
Good not bad. Lovely restaurant and cool settings. Seems very upscale in terms of clients who sit for dinner or do take out. We had the chili paneer and it was spicy but I did not like the sauce it came in. Did not seen more than out of a ps late with a lot of bright red coloring similar to a place we are in Garmish where every dish had a gross out of package dried mix add water then serve over meat. The Indian chicken Jalfrechi was good and a change for us but I wish I had ordered the butter chicken my favorite. Typically Indian food in Munich is very similar to US Indian restaurants and unlike the Chinese restaurants here which suck! The nann bread was excellent!!

Yelp
It's a local style Indisch. Dishes there were tasty with good service. Only because it's in bacement, the air condition was'nt frech enough.

Yelp
We went here with a group of food lovers, I would brag and say even experts ;-) and booked a table for 20 ppl. the gastronauten had to check the restaurant as it is said to be the best indian cuisin in Munich. it was good food, papadom wasn't complementary that was a bit weird as the famous bricklane indian restaurants in London (considered one of the best boroughs for indian food always serves it for free). Long story short, it wasn't that special and the indian dish wasn't really hot at all, most of the dished usually need a mango lassy beside, so I guess it's been a bit westerised! In the end we were only 16 and had hardly any room and were kind of squezzed together. As i believe a bit more space and comfi sitting is kind of important for a good dinner. Nevertheless the food was very tasty, spicey, delicious but hot. The waiter were very friendly and to serve 16 ppl. at ones isn't that easy. If you have been to London Whitechapel or even India before, I'm sure you would have expected something else...

Yelp
This was the second Indian Restaurant that I ate at in Munich. It is located just outside the Prinzregentenplatz station off the U4 line. The restaurant is in an old building and it is organized as several cozy rooms with a few tables each. I didn't care for the desserts. Most of them had honey (including the gulab jamuns) which is not the way it is made traditionally. Otherwise, the food was fresh and tasty. Service was good and they were able to accommodate my diet requirements for no onions, no garlic on a large number of dishes.

Yelp
in my opinion the best indian restaurant in Munich! not only the food is amazing also the personal working there is always friendly. the chicken with the cilantro is the best! :)

Yelp
I only got take-out, so I can't speak much to their restaurant service. I very much liked the atmosphere inside - they seat you at the bar and give you free chai while you wait for your take-out. They also have an enclosed patio area which looks nice. The food was quite good and I got a "Thali" (a selection of 3 dishes) so I got to sample a few things. Not life-changing, but good. The troubling thing was that they had taken several orders wrong and the other people who were waiting for take-out kept having to send their orders back because something was missing or wrong with it. I got the impression that they're not very good at communicating over the phone and the people who had called orders in had not been understood.

Yelp
Swagat takes away the pleasure of eating Indian somewhere else... True, the service isn't always very fast, but it IS very friendly and the food is amazing!

Qype User (ys7…)

Yelp
Probably one of the best indian places in Munich.

Yelp
For a Londoner it's hard to find a good curry in Munich. Swagat is at the end of my road and I needed a curry. Lucky me cos it's great. A colourful cosy labryrinth in the Keller with great food, funky dacor that includes a shrine like cloakroom. Great Indian music and characterful Indian waiters who are very polite. Lots of Indians eating there too.

Qype User (finesc…)

Yelp
If this is the best Indian in Munich, I am not sure it is wort having Indian food in Munich. Service was surprisingly efficient after reading the reviews. But went at lunchtime on a Saturday. The sauces with the poppadums were ok but have had better ones. Poppadums were really greasy and salty. The paneer starter wsd bland and it didnt come with any sauces. chai tea was milky and the taste of black pepper was too over powering. Rice was ok but did nt taste of saffron. Nan bread was nice. Charred and chewy but very greasy. The chicken tikka was nice. Mild and the chicken very plump. The sauce was mild and could have had more spices. We also had the palak kofta. The sauce was hot but bland and the kofta was very stodgy. I would nt come back in a hurry.

Yelp
Love the food here. One of the best Indian restaurants in Munich and has been for the last 10 years (at least). Only problem is the service. They lost our reservation twice and they always seem too busy to notice the guests But the food really is good!

Qype User (zamby…)

Yelp
In my opinion the best indian restaurant in Munich. I particularly like the vegetable tandoori. We normally spend around 40 euro in swagat, for two people, when we order two main courses and two drinks
