Swami's in Oceanside is pretty big, suitable for large brunch parties. We did not wait long in line to order, nor did we wait long for our food. If it's your first time at Swami's, make sure you look at the menu and know what you're ordering when you head to the cash register - because you order and pay first, then grab a seat :)
Arriving for a late lunch last Sunday, I ordered my burger medium rare. Why would someone order a burger medium rare?! I know, I know -- I should know better. A moment of low blood sugar induced poor judgement caused me to say "medium rare" for how I'd like my burger cooked. (Note: This is coming from a girl who loves her steaks rare. We can go into a whole discussion why it's not typically advisable for a burger to be ordered less than medium (food borne illness, namely, E. coli) involving meat quality, facility practices, trust in the facility, etc. Totally digressing here.)
Circling back to the burger, which we ordered with a side of sweet potato fries, and a regular caesar salad to share. Salad was okay, nothing notable. Sweet potato fries were sweet potato fries. Now, the boiga. Upon the first bite, I noticed it was surprisingly cold, but attributed it to us dining outside.
But after closer inspection at my husband's half, and then my burger half... we realized that our burger was rarer than medium rare. Bordering on rare. Crossing the border of rare and breakdancing on the raw side.
At this time, our other dining party already finished with her meal, and we needed to leave. There was no point in flagging down a staff member to ask for the burgers to be thrown back on the grill for another 4-6 minutes.
Lesson learned: don't order a burger medium rare, because it will come out raw.
