Swamp House Riverfront Grill

This place is great! Visiting in December is essentially slow season but we're local, so it's better for us at least - you still get great attentive service and the food was so fresh and fantastic in flavor. They have a great Christmas tree in the middle of the dining floor right now , I wish I took a picture of it. Other things hanging on the wall were very interesting, really puts you in the vibe of the area. We'll definitely be coming back during our next break.

After our relaxing and refreshing floats down Blue Springs Run there’s no better way to keep the good vibes flowing. Nestled along the scenic St. Johns riverfront, Swamp House Riverfront Grill offers a blend of Southern hospitality and traditional flavors, the rustic yet inviting atmosphere set the stage for a memorable dining experience. I had the Fried Grouper Sandwich, the generous portion of fish was fried to golden perfection, crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, I topped it with my coleslaw adding a nice balance of creaminess and crunch. My husband had the Fish and Chips, he said the french fries were top 5! The meal came with 2 big pieces of fish but the pic I took only has one because he ate it so fast 😂 We visited on a Monday around 3:30 pm, so the place was quiet and relaxed with plenty of seating and riverfront views, it made for a peaceful dining experience where the friendly staff could give us extra attention. Our server was absolutely darling, she made our meal even more enjoyable with her genuine care. The manager personally came to our table to check in and ask how everything was, that made the experience feel even more welcoming. It’s clear that Swamp House Riverfront Grill cares about their guests’ satisfaction. Located right next to the Highbanks Boat Ramp. One small note for first-timers: the Swamp House Riverfront Grill sign is modestly sized and mounted on the marina’s large sign, so keep an eye out to spot it.

Would have been great for the real estate agent I was meeting to be served on "this" part of the deck as opposed to "that" part. She was pleasant, but lost it in what would have been a pretty good tip. Management might want to revisit this policy when it's not busy. Great property.

Great location overlooking the St John’s River. However, the view is obstructed by the plastic screen that needs to be pressure washed. Not a bad spot if you’re boating and need a burger. Waitstaff was pleasant. Local vibe.

Service was excellent. I would recommend the pretzel. Best pretzel I've ever had and I just moved here from Germany. Crabcakes were good, but nothing to write home about. One of our loaded potato skins wasn't cooked through and the BBQ sauce was a tad sweet (think Sunny's), imo. Good beer selection and the key lime Martini is to be recommended. Great place to have dinner and a few with your friends.

First time at Swamp House Riverfront Grill and had a great experience. The restaurant was crowded at lunch but sat at the bar & the bartender took great care of me. The food came out quickly and it was delicious; one of the best burgers I've ever had. Great service and love the water views. Will definitely be back!

The grounds around the Swamp House, the Docks, the Views of the St. Johns River and the Campground are all first rate. The atmosphere inside is really great. It is fun homey with plenty of space for dining and a nice bar. Just makes you feel welcome. My wife ordered the Blackened Shrimp diner which she loved. I had the jambalaya, it was OK not as good as the way my wife makes. My brother had a hamburger and his wife had a shrimp dish. They both were very happy and satisfied. Angela was our server. She was great with a wonderful personality. She really knew the menu and made good recommendations. It was obvious Angela enjoys her job as a server and it shows. She is a credit to the Swamp House. We will definitely return.

As always such a treat. Staff was busy for Father’s Day but we enjoyed very reasonably priced drinks while watching the boats and listening to live music. Our food was EXCELLENT & as always as I said … such a treat !! Highly recommend the key west mahi . Also!! SWEET POTATO LOVERS — the sweet potato casserole is to die for!!🖤

Both times we went they told us that they were too busy to see people where it looked like they weren't very busy at all, but possibly understaffed, which is totally understandable The first time we hung around, ordered her a drink from the bar and waited ended up, waiting an hour and 20 minutes before we left Second time we came in and we decided to leave when they told us they didn't have much availability

Overpriced food, you don't get a lot, but it's a lovely view with fresh air & a friendly staff. Super great place to listen to live music on weekends sometimes during seniors' spring break who gather next-door at the campground. Gator tacos were fresh & delicious with pineapple. Coleslaw could have been crispier but still tasted good. Potato chips were overcooked, inedible.

Food was very good and the burger was just huge! The potato skins were my boys favorite for sure.

Absolutely phenomenal. Great good, great service, great vibes. Easily became my favorite restaurant in the area. Came up from Orlando to see the Manatees with wifey and she found this absolutely diamond of a location. Amazing freshly caught seafood, a full bar to compliment it, and a beautiful view overlooking the marina. Seriously can't wait to visit here again!

Had a great time at Swamp House! It's exactly what you'd expect from a classic old restaurant on the river--not the fanciest inside, but the food really impressed me. The fried pickles were excellent, and the buffalo wrap was delicious. Drinks were cheap and tasty too, which was a nice surprise. The main reason for my 4-star rating is that the food took a while to come out, but once it did, it was worth the wait. The restaurant has a nice setup with an air-conditioned indoor dining area upstairs and a casual outdoor bar and tables along the marina downstairs. We pulled up by boat, and while they have about eight boat slips, I think they could definitely use more. Overall, it was a fun experience with great food, and I'd happily come back again soon! Love music on the weekends as well!

Easy solid four or more, something like a five. Was a time I didn't feel that way about this place but everybody gets second chances and the food here's been really very good lately. You can see the servers enjoy working here and they've got a floor manager who really cares. Good on them. So, they do a Great burger, the Cuban is very good too (who knew?), grouper reuben's been good, and the fish and chips is consistently delicious and is pretty much why we've been visiting with greater frequency. Dad Loves his fish and chips and a few of our regular places have shuttered up. It's on the pricier side here, but so very worth it. You'd have to have a hollow leg to finish it!

Swamp House is always a good stop. The river view atmosphere downstairs is great. The waitress was on point with the orders and check ups. The wings were nice, fat and juicy. Fries were good as well. Nice restaurant upstairs as well. Variety of different foods and drinks as well.

We dined at Swamp House on a Saturday night which was busy - we had a 15 minute wait to be seated and didn't see our server much while dining, he was rushing around. There are views of the marina from some areas of the dining room. Food was good - we both got the blackened mahi sandwiches. My husband had the Swamp Water orange-flavored cocktail which he said was average. We won't go out of our way to come back but it seems to be a popular spot for locals!

I live less than a mile from this "place". Went in tonight to swap out a t-shirt purchase due to a sizing issue and was refused because I did not have a receipt...customer service at its finest! I then asked the hostess to sit at a high top near the bar. It was at this point that the hostess was told by the bartender (?) that he could not keep up with the current crowd and not to seat us in that area (maybe not send home the tiki bar bartender due to cold weather and have that person help?). It was at this point I expressed my displeasure and decided to exit this "place"....and was sarcastically told by the bartender to "Have a nice night!". My bride and myself went up the road to O'Leary's and had a great evening! The Swamphouse can scratch me off as future customer. It really sucks that a place that's less than a mile away from my house is so inconsistent on all levels.

The only reason they get a 3 is cause the food was good. However service was horrible. We sat down and waited for someone to come to our table (as instructed by an employee) which took a few. Then we put our orders in and got our drinks. The food took about 20 mins, and our drinks stayed empty for about 10 mins. When the food runner brought our food I had to ask for more drinks. Then one of the orders was for the Blackened trio. Before we ordered i asked if it could be grill and she said yes, so thats how it was ordered, but when they brought it out it was blackened. We ordered different sides than it showed that it came with, but ended up getting what it came with instead of what we ordered. The manager was told of all the issue. He brought us the correct sides, but after sitting there with empty drinks, excessive wait time for the food then the wrong food it was just a bad experience. After eating we waited another 15 before we had to go ask for our check. For the hour and 43 mins we were there we saw an employee 3 times. This is inside an RV park and it seems like they catered to the regulars, not new customers.

Great weekend hangout! Live music in the tiki bar on the 1st floor with lake view. Good food and drinks. Very chill atmosphere.

The ambiance is fun, overlooking the river and our waitress was great! My husband 's Mahi sandwich was very good, but my coconut shrimp was even better!

As we walked in the front door, we loved the rustic casual atmosphere. The staff were very friendly. We began our meal with gator bites and green fried tomatoes. Both very good!! For our lunch we enjoyed the Mahi Rueben ( 2 each ) served on thick marble rye bread , 2 grilled fish sandwich, shrimp taco's, children chicken tenders ( great portion and quality). Busy restaurant and still attentive service. As we were leaving the restaurant, the managers asked how everything was. I told them very good. This restaurant is a definitely a must try!! Thank you for a great lunch experience!!! Oh, I almost forgot the killer coleslaw!!

Great food, nice views of water! Fried grouper sandwich was crispy and delicious. The grilled mahi sandwich was delicious as well! Great service and fun decor!

We were so pleased with the downstairs outdoor seating area where we could bring our pup & enjoy a terrific lunch of fried catfish sandwiches! Service was a little slow since there was only one server for the five tables. She was very nice though and we enjoyed watching the marina's activities of boats coming in and docking in front of us, with new happy customers for the restaurant.

Huge fan. The food is absolutely delicious. The ambience is amazing because it's right on the river. It does feel like a redneck kind of bar, but it's also a restaurant and it is so good!!! They have a huge gator hanging from the ceiling so kids love going there too.

This place is fun and inviting for sure, and tucked away in the country far from the hustle and bustle of Orlando. Everyone is nice and kind and makes sure you feel welcomed. Unfortunately the food had left us a little disappointed for the prices they are charging. The size portion was okay, but everything was very bland. When we put salt on it it helped a little, but it just lacked flavor overall. Maybe if I tried something different my thoughts would be changed regarding the food. However with the prices I debate giving them another go.

2nd time here, and again very disappointing. The coconut shrimp was obviously a frozen vendor product. So, there went $14... and the fish & chips was ALL batter. No kidding- just tiny slivers of pollock in thick dough, like a donut. That, was $22 down the drain...i won't be back.

Don't be deceived by the dive-bar like outside. This place has everything a fish restaurant on the water should. I'm fact, I'd go as far to say this was probably the best mid-day boating lunch stop that I've been too. The menu had plenty to choose for everyone. Great selection of beers on draft and bottled. Delicious mixed drinks. Even a great kids menu. And service was spot on. Such friendly staff and great customer service. We started with the citrus marinated gator bites. Holy cow were they the star of the show. Delicious! And the tartar dipping sauce they came with, a little spicy and a little sweet, was unique and made for the perfect bite. Even my 10 month old was scarfing them down. We all ordered blackened fish sandwiches for lunch. It was a pretty big piece of fish for one sandwich. Seasoned perfectly and actually and very filling. It came with that spicy sweet tartar sauce again, which gave it even more flavor. All around a delicious bite. Mine was served with coleslaw which, while no frills, was still very tasty. I would 100% recommend this place and can't wait to return. It definitely hit the spot for a good boating day.

we paid about 50 bucks for a alfredo and gator bites the gator bites came with 8 little pieces not even bites and we paid that much for what I think it's very much not ok for them to overprice everything this business is not a good business and needs to be closed down

Stopped by for lunch while boating. Sat outside and service was absolutely terrible. Hardly came around. We ordered several appetizers like gater bites, wings, smoked fish dip. Gater bites were good and wings were "ok" and didn't care for fish dip...too weird of Smokey flavor. Ordered the grouper sandwich and it was so bad! It was like biting into shoe leather. We have been there before a few years ago and it was good but this time not so much. Also, they had 2 different menus...one for the outside and another for the inside which we thought was ridiculous! And we ate outside and didn't care for the menu out there. Not good.

This place is certainly the hotspot on the weekends. Understandably. Located right by the water, boats can park at their dock and come on up for a good lunch. It's about 10 minutes from Blue Springs. When we arrived it was a 45 minute wait and this was no joke. We were informed they were understaffed in the kitchen and behind. We were starving and the food sounded good so we decided to wait it out. Afterall it would take this long to go somewhere else with the sparce selection locally. Once we were finally seated it took an average amount of time to order and recieve our food. Everything we ordered was good. They have a good selection of seafood and Louisiana style dishes. I got the crab cake sandwhich and I loved it. My husband got the gator bites and really enjoyed it. The onion rings were delicious. Our son liked his kids meal. He also got a strawberry milkshake which wasn't that great but otherwise we all enjoyed our food. Service was lacking but the good food made up for it. I understand limited seating when understaffed but it did surprise me to see chairs upside down on adjacent tables and employees hanging around. I know it was the kitchen staff that was understaffed but it's not a great look after waiting close to a hour to be seated. Overall we would return if in the area but perhaps when we don't mind waiting.

Super happy we finally got here! Goal was to be there for the sunset and boy was it beautiful! Enjoyed some cocktails outside, we were not quite sitting at the service area but service was still good. Simply ordered from the bar until we went inside! Watched the sun go down, watched some gorgeous boats maneuver on the river, great evening!! Moved inside at dark and got a great table with another view of the river! We had Sofia and she was fantastic!! Noticed Key Lime Martini on the menu and for those who follow my reviews know, I'm a sucker for martinis. Especially Key Lime!! Placed our order (picture reviews attached) and loved everything!! The ambiance of the water and the great location is going to make this a local hangout for us!!

Love this place. Very good food and staff. It's a nicely rustic restaurant, and the location by the river is nice. Parking can be tricky, expecially if they're busy.

Aaow lawd. Yes yes YES. Y'all they have a spinach and artichoke dip that you can add blue crab to....ok so obviously y'all coming here after I said that. And if you don't wanna come here after that, we can't be friends. That's ok tho, I have lots of friends. Now let's talk about their bucket drinks...yummy.. Ok how about the mahi tacos...y'all. Get. Them. 'Nuff said. Plantains. SWEET plantains. Y'all. My only complaint is that there should have been 2 sweet plantains for the side instead of just one. I mean really. But yeah it was great. Worth an extra $1.50 above the basic side of coleslaw or chips? I mean come on something else should be offered other than either of those without an up charge. Like fries at least, seriously. That was annoying. But they are good. I'd order an app and a side of the single plantain (cuz it's all it is), a single plantain) and be quite happy. Very similar to Venezuelan sweet plantains, but slightly less mushy/sweet. Very good. If you're gonna go out back or downstairs, repel at is your only ally that you have. And even gen, might fail you. But it is beautiful out here and worth the walk. Boating. BOATING? YESSSSS. Boating. There is a put-in nearby and you can enjoy the St.John's river! Not far from Blue Springs either. A lovely place to dock and have a drink and/or meal on a warm(hot) Florida day. Absolutely recommend. Hey if you order a bucket, keep one so that you get $1 off your next one on the next visit!! Angela was our sever this evening and she was lovely. She made great drinks and we watched her put up with/ manage some difficult customers very professionally and she also helped make our first experience here memorable. We will absolutely be back and HIGHLY recommend this place for the views, the drinks, the food, the water location, the entire vibe.

Been meaning to go here forever. Fun spot, and met our expectations. It's a riverfront grill and has all the trappings...good menu choice, cold beer etc. Was it the best I've had food/drinks wise? Nah. But solid and good. The server we had was super nice and attentive (thanks Jessica!). It's a fun spot, our friends can drag us there by boat if it ever stops raining. ;)

If your looking for a refreshing beverage with great atmosphere this is the place Other than that, I would steer clear of the food , and service is inconsistent, fair warning stay away from Sundays unless you're sitting outside. This place can be much more with proper leadership, menu redo .

Holy huge portions! This place has the average St John's River bar and grill vibe. It seemed like the building was split-the top being Swamp House and the bottom being some kind of place with live music? Both were pretty busy when we showed up at 1:30 on a Saturday. Service was fast and friendly! Our waters stayed filled and we had a few different people touch the table to make sure everything was good and we didn't need anything. Food was great! We got fried food though and it's typically hard to mess up. Gator tails were delicious!

Excellent place! I love this place! After boating in the morning we went here for lunch and appetizers. It was delicious!!! Had a few beers and a bunch of appetizers! We were visiting our buddy who lives in Florida and keeps sending us pictures from this fabulous place. Naturally we asked him to take us there. It was wonderful! Easy going atmosphere and mask free! Which was a change for me coming from heavy and I mean heavy mask wearing California. Great place to spend my first day of freedom eating appetizers and drinking beer. We had conch fritters. French fries, hush puppies, chicken wings and a Mahi Rueben sandwich. The food was delicious!!

Excellent food with a perfect river view! They have a tiki bar and general store out back along with a marina.

View is great, Drinks are average, food is boring and not good quality. They have had the same menu for 10 years and need to update. Get better food if you are going to charge premium prices. I live 2 miles down the road and never go anymore.

You didn't get near the amount of food as before, yet the price was a lot higher. Our server was shocked when they brought out my husbands catfish dinner. Two tiny fillets on the plate and we both reacted. The server was embarrassed and told the girl who brought the food out "this is not right". They did bring out a nice size fillet after that. Because of the prices so very high and a LOT less food, we won't be back!!! Our server was great though. Very attentive.

Stopped by Swamp House after a relaxing day on the boat, looking forward to some food and drinks. It's right on the river, so you'd think they'd be a bit more laid-back--but nope. They refused service because we weren't wearing shoes and shirts. Really? We came straight off the water, like most people do. It's a waterfront spot, not a country club. If you're going to cater to boaters, maybe be a little more understanding of what that actually looks like. Left hungry and irritated. Won't be back.

We were a party of 13. Everything went well server was great. Food was OK was looking for an ATM and they didn't have one might want to consider an ATM.

We stopped by here on our way to Blue Springs. We love that they have boat parking, which makes it super convenient. The inside is very Florida Swamp with lots of merch and sassy signs for sale. The service was great. Our waitress kept all drinks filled and delivered everything in a timely matter. She was really nice! For appetizers, we got fried gator bites, fried green tomatoes, and swamp skins (loaded potato skins) the gator was a bit chewy, but otherwise we loved all the apps. For an entree, I got grilled teriyaki chicken with grilled pineapple, white rice, and a side of plantains. The presentation was definitely minimal effort, but the food was yummy. Definitely not an aesthetic spot, but a great stop on the river.

Just horrible. Over-priced, Groper was not blacken as requested. Waitress had no idea what she was doing. Will never go back.

Quaint old Florida place! Food is good and well cooked. They have the cutest little wine glasses but they do not skimp on the pour! They had live music outside but we enjoyed just as much inside as well.

We really enjoyed our food and what a great atmosphere on the marina. It is fun to walk around if there is a wait.

Very disappointed in what it's become, Swamp House used to be one of my favorites but seems like every time I step foot in here it's more and more expensive, not to mention the service has gotten terrible. For 2 people to have 1 fish sandwich and 1 alcoholic drink a piece should not be $100 after tax/tip... are you kidding me?... what you get quality and service wise is no nowhere near what I am spending here anymore, I hate to say it but I will probably not be coming back here anymore after 15 years

Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 3 Location by the riverfront is amazing. I sat at the high top looking over the river and it was so pretty. Staff were friendly and food was amazing. You also have the option to sit outside so would recommend on a pretty day outside with the sun!

Wow high prices! I've been going here all my life with friends and family. I'm a local) Took a friend down from Tenn. this week and flabbergasted at the high prices and lack of presentation. $27.99 for jumbalaya? Are you nuts? Dinner on a white plate without a single garnish, looked like a 5 yr old put it together. Floors DIRTY. The awsome view of our beautiful river does not make up for the high prices. WON'T BE BACK.

To surprize my husband for lunch at work, we drove to the Swamp House. I loved it, and we had a great time that was only ruined my my husband's work schedule that pushed him to rush through the meal and impromptu photoshoot. We had a gator tale for an appetizer, and fought our 3-year-old for the last bite. The meat was fresh and tender, not overly seasoned or overwhelmed with breading. Our daughter had her first ever milkshake there, and when the sugar kicked in, she got a warm welcome from the other patrons and the staff. The Mahi Rouben sandwiches we ordered were fresh, loaded with flavor and delish sauces, complemented with large and happily hearty servings of fish. Overal, awesome experience, laid back atmosphere, family friendly environment, fit for a casual date, business lunch or something different with calming view of small boats docking...I recommend!

Amazing service, fantastic food, and free boat docking! We enjoyed the blue cheese burger, swamp house burger, and the kids fish sandwich. Also had the coconut shrimp and gator bites. Everything cooked perfectly, even our burgers - medium rare! Nobody gets that right, ever! 100% would recommend, and will return again, especially by boat! Love the decor and atmosphere, particularly the live music.

Great atmosphere and fun to pull in by boat, although parking was a real challenge. Very friendly staff. Fried pickles were yummy as were our burger (chips or slaw as a side, no fries). Prices were pretty steep compared to other places of the same caliber.

I had The Big Swamp House Burger.. this burger was by far the best burger that I have ever had. It was cooked medium rare to perfection and the Swiss cheese was melted and gooey. The burger had an amazing char grilled flavor. Topped with LTO. I now know where to get the best burger around!! The new Mahi fish dip was awesome as well. The service was great and the waitress was friendly and attentive. Ambiance- We always love sitting and seeing the river. The restaurant is very casual and relaxed with great musical entertainment.

New Management is killing this restaurant. Prices are ridiculously high. Food continues to get worse. Service is hit or miss. Was seated and after 10 minutes had to get up and find the hostess. She informed me my server would be right out. A few minutes later he came to apologize and said he was trying to finish his lunch and was told we were just seated. If all went downhill from there. Burgers are the only thing consistent. Sweet potatoes look like an orange hockey puck, gator bites are 90% breading, chicken is most likely the lowest grade possible, no flavor and strange rubbery texture. Salad looks as if it's dumped out of an expired bag. Just do disappointing because it is such a nice area and could really be something big if it was managed better. Hours of downstairs is hit or miss as well. They might post hours but do not adhere to them. Very confusing for those coming by boat. I have lived in this area all my life and this once was a fun, happening place. Now it's like a last resort.
