Sweet Auburn Bread Company

We found this bakery after another restaurant canceled our pie order on Thanksgiving! They saved our Thanksgiving, as we were hosting and had no dessert. We called to see if they had any sweet potato pie and they did! Mind you this is the day before Thanksgiving when the city is crawling with everyone out getting their last minute holiday items. They told us to order online and we could pick up at 4pm. We ordered online and called to confirm out of an abundance of caution because the previous place canceled on us. They said yes they had our pies and we could actually pick them up right away. Their pies are divine! We had sweet potato pie and pecan pie. Both very delicious. Highly recommend.

My first bite of the sweet potato cheesecake, I just sat for a moment savoring the wonderful flavors, it is that delicious!!! We also tried the sweet potato pie, banana walnut bread, big azz cookie and the pound cake. Everything was homemade, fresh and so good this photo was all I could capture as my family snacked on these delicious sweets. Chef Sonya was so sweet explaining to us what she made to help us make choices.

Stopped in on a walk to the Auburn Avenue Research Library, and as an O4W resident I’m ashamed for just now learning about Sweet Auburn Bread Co. Windsor waved me in and showed me the photo of his mother and Bill Clinton. Cheesecake fit for a president! And it’s not a lie! The sweet potato cheesecake and pound cake are so good! I will definitely be back!

when i tell y’all that brownie is so good…. it’s actually a taste of heaven (that thing was moist and rich, it’s PERFECT) also the baker running the place is so nice :) we came in as a group exploring the area and she handled the crowd with ease!

Wandered into this beautiful place one day while grocery shopping from the curb market and was met with warm greetings from Winston the owners son. I listened while he proudly explained the history of the Sweet Auburn Bread Company to me, his mom made sweet potato pie for Bill Clinton!! Wow! I grabbed a piece of pound cake, man it was soo good.

The sweet potato biscuits are my favorite but you can't go wrong with anything here. It's a great little store. Please visit.

My favorite is the pound cake and the blueberry and sweet potato muffins. I stop and eat here every time I'm on Auburn Ave.. Taste like home. Reminds me of my Great grand mother's recipes

This small bakery gained attention after President Bill Clinton and Chef Rachel Ray walked through its doors, but I stopped in because several Atlanta publications rated this as having the best sweet potato cheesecake! Just a ten minute walk from the Martin Luther King Jr National Park. Upon entering I was greeted by Chef Sonya who was so sweet and polite. We ended up talking to her and her friend for 15 minutes! We ordered the famous sweet potato cheesecake to go. There are only one or two small tables to sit at. She also bakes cookies, brownies and other cheesecakes. The cheesecake was dense, not overly sweet, with a nice crust. Reminded me of my grandma's baking. I recommend everyone to stop in and at least try her cheesecake.

Really enjoyed the muffins I bought. Two of the same were packaged together. I think they were banana and blueberry. SO delicious. I also liked the big a$$ chocolate chip cookie.

My coworker and I were wandering by and couldn't resist the sweet smells wafting out from Sweet Auburn Bread Company. A very friendly gentleman assisted us, even eagerly sharing the back story of Chef Sonya. My coworker got two sweet potato muffins, which were delicately sweet and the perfect home for a little bit of butter and jam. I got a mini lemon chess pie, which was just as gooey, buttery, and rich as I'd hoped it'd be. It's a little storefront packed full of freshly baked goods - where can you go wrong?

Sweet Auburn Bread Company changed my life with that biscuit. It's not just a biscuit. It was a sweet potato biscuit that sandwiched a salmon croquette. Sheer heaven. I've never had such a food melody dance in my mouth. I really didn't want it to end. But it did. Bravo Chef Sonya. You did that! It was so good I forgot to take a pic of it to post.

Chef Sonia's chocolate layer cake is the best bakery cake we've ever had. It tastes just like the "from scratch" traditional three-layer cake your mom or grandma made. We were traveling from out of state and Chef Sonia made our Christmas Eve dinner extra special by making arrangements for us to pick up our cake after she closed. We are grateful to her not just for the amazing cake, but also for accommodating us.

Tried several different things and all we're okay. Sweet potato cheese cake was Pretty good. But it was all so overpriced. And the store front is pretty off-putting.

I heard about this place from Rachel Ray's 40 dollars a day. I was craving sweet potato pie and it was perfectly sweet with a flaky buttery crust. I also tried the sweet potato cheesecake but I was not a fan. It was pretty bland and not sweet - also it was a strange texture for a cheesecake. I also purchased some sweet potato butter which is really good on muffins! The shop is teeny tiny but the owner was the one who helped me. Very charming lady!!

Sweet potato cheesecake, why must you be so tasty? From your perfectly luscious cheseecakiness upper layer to the lower cinnamony sweet potato extremity you make me want to gobble up a whole $39 cake in the middle (or some say the end) of a recession. Ah well, there's always the possibility of willpower to settle for a mere $4 slice of sweet potato cheesecakey goodness. **Don't forget to validate your parking ticket before an hour and half pass with you staring goggle-eyed at the array of delicious cakes, pies, and tarts.

Man...just not that great. This place is a pretty adorable store front and the dude behind the counter was beyond friendly. He, like the other reviews on here, told me all about President Clinton loving the sweet potato cheesecake. I came to try the chocolate chip cookies and left with an extra slice of cake. The cookies are just... not right. They're very light and fluffy and the chocolate chips are very, well... hard. I'm guessing the ingredient weren't mixed particularly well and the sugar is clumped together in the dough so that it catches you off guard when it grits on your teeth. 1 star on my scale. Props for being 50 cents cheaper than most cookies in this city at a dollar even. The cake looked pretty good and I got a slice of chocolate buttermilk poundcake-the verdict is still out on that as I'm pretty full. But be forewarned, cake is a steep five bucks a slice... And I just ate it-texture is awesome, but there is no flavor! More chocolate please!?! My only other criticism is that for a bread store/bakery, they didn't have a whole of actual bread lot on display; primarily just sweets. If this place can hold out for the regentrification of the surrounding neighborhood, it will be a gold mine and a very popular local favorite.

We went to the Atlanta Urban Picnic and walked around the market since we had never been. We each had a cookie. They were HUGE, tasty and only 89 cents. Apparently, they are famous for sweet potato cheesecake. I'll have to try that next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Worst cheesecake EVER! I am a true cheesecake lover, but this was a HUGE disappointment! I saw their ad on half off depot and decided to give it a try it.first their credit card machine was down! It was NOTHING presidential about that sweet potato cheesecake....at $45 dollars it was a RIP OFF.....looked and tasted like a $10 small cake from Kroger! I will stick with The Sweet Auburn Bakery in the Market down the street, their cheesecakes are top notch, 1000% better, bigger and $9 cheaper!

Fantastic cake and wonderful to work with! I ordered two cakes from Chef Sonya - the Italian Cream and Red Velvet. These were for a celebration at my office and everyone (seriously, everyone) said how delicious the cakes were. Several people asked for the business name so they could get cakes from there in the future. These were clearly made with love (and lots of butter!) Chef Sonya was so easy to work with- I was able to pay ahead so literally pulled up to the front of the bakery and she met me at my car (which she helped me time based on the street car route.) When I need another cake..... or just any sort of sweet fix I will be back. Thank you Chef Sonya for your wonderful and delicious small business!!

Red Velvet cupcakes.. and sweet potato cheesecake soooo good even our former president Clinton enjoyed this place! and I have to agree! Although I have never been to the store location ( I have purchased baked goods at the Piedmont farmers market- she usually has a stand set up) The red velvet cupcakes were moist and dense.. and the cream cheese frosting light and fluffy! Just talking about it makes me want to head downtown right now and grab some!

I was looking forward to getting some muffins & possibly a sweet potato pie, after seeing an ad in a free Buckhead magazine. So I decided to stop by on the way to DFM. I was utterly disappointed when I pulled up around 9:15 this morning & the sign on the door said "be back @ noon." Not sure if I'll try to stop by again. : (

I saw this place during the MLK parade last month. I purchased the chocolate chip cookies and wow! They were awesome. It was like they had butter and sugar coated on the outside, but not overwhelmingly sweet. I will definitely go back to try out some of the other delectable goodies.

I purchased a Halfoffdepot.com coupon for a cake at this bakery around Mother's Day. I purchased a pound cake. I had no problems placing the order or picking up the cake but the cake had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The actual cake was pretty heavy but there was no aroma of cake on it, if you know what I mean. And the cake was so dry and not moist at all. I was so disappointed because the cake had to be thrown away because no one liked the cake. And when I say NO FLAVOR, that is exactly what I mean.

They set up breakfast in the lobby of our building this morning. I ordered cheese grits and smoked sausage. The grits were undercooked and lumpy and who charges 3 dollars for one small piece of sausag?. I didn't realize that I was only getting until I had returned to my office. I would also reccommend that the lady with the chef coat wear a clean one when she's out serving the public and please smile!!

Special order anything ! Great Lady..Great service... Forget any negative review posted. Those people are either Yankees or been sheltered all there life...

I didn't like the sweet potato cheesecake. It was cracked and burnt on the top but it wasn't going to let that stop me. After cutting into I noticed it wasn't creamy and had chunks of sweet potato and the crust was two different colors. I wouldn't spend money here anymore.

After a lovely stroll down Auburn Avenue with my camera I finally found the home of the Sweet Potato Cheesecake that was featured on the Food Channel. The Sweet Auburn Bread Company is a precious little spot, with tasty treats. I already know what I will get next time- a caramel banana-nut muffin and a naked hummingbird muffin. So many tasty things to try- make sure you bring an empty stomach to be sure you can try them all.

I guess I should have tried the cheese cake. Im a huge fan of peacan pie so I noticed that they well selling some, how could I resist? It was the worse peacan pie I have ever had. If Im getting calories, it has to be worth it. They got the stars from customer service. Ill give it another try.....

This was my first visit to Sweet Auburn Bread company and I was not disappointed. I ordered a pan of peach cobbler and it was fantastic, so delicious. I served it for the July 4th holiday and it was great ending to a wonderful celebration. Chef Sonya was very nice and accommodated my order with very little notice. While the store front bakery was much different than many other bakeries I have been, but by far the bake goods are far superior to some of the fancier bakeries. I will definitely frequent Sweet Auburn Bread Co.

YES, YES, YES!!!! I fell in love with this baker's wares when I stumbled across her booth at the Marietta Square Farmer's Market. Imagine my delight when I found that the bakery's location was within walking distance in my new neighborhood. The perfect little bakery. Local businesswoman, fresh baked goods - no day old stuff here, reasonably priced, homemade. It satisfied everything I needed in a bakery. Must samples: sweet potato cheesecake, pound cake, any of the muffins. Even with the street car construction and the traffic it is worth the trek.

I have used the bakery now three times for events. It just gets better and better. This time Chef Sonya made a fabulous coconut cake and red velvet cream filled cupcakes. The cake was outstanding. The cupcakes were the best I have had in the city and all of my guests agreed.I love the space the bakery sits in and being able to visit with Chef Sonya.That alone is worth a visit. Do not confuse this establishment with the Sweet Auburn bakery down the street at the market. I made the mistake the first time I ventured down to find them. I spent over a $100 and every bit of it had to be thrown away. There was nothing worth taking a bite of.

Just left there after picking up an egg custard pie, 6muffins-hummingbird,Carmel banana, and fruit. Let me start with the pie. The very BEST custard pie I have ever eaten and I've eaten plenty. This has the true home made eggy taste I remember from too long ago. The muffins: very, very good. Having tasted the pie I had to find out if the baking there was equal to the pie. I cut a sliver from each flavor muffin and am truly happy. This will be my bakery from now on. I'm so glad it's not in walking distance or I would surely gain many pounds over the next few months.

def go here for sweet potato cheesecake and the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. the salmon croquette and the smoked sausage is great after a long night out. this was a fave of president clinton and I can clearly see why. The owner was really nice and chatted with us while we were waiting for our 20 sandwiches to be made (we had a big group). Whenever you're in ATL stop by here for sure!

i had seen the famous sweet potato cheesecake on television on a traveling show. so one day some friends from work and i decided we were going here to try this and to check the place out. first, the shop is small and just the four of us in there was too croweded. i asked for a slice of the sweet potato cheesecake and i have never seen cheese cake look this flat. where was the plump tempting stuff she served the pres and was on television. i paid for it because i wanted to give it a try and not be too picky. the minute i tasted it , i put it back in the bag and never ate it again. i was disappointed. i dont know what she gave me but that was not cheese cake and nothing sweet potato about it. never been back since that day.
