I visited this spot for brunch and overall, it was a great experience. The service was friendly and efficient, and I really enjoyed the outdoor seating in the sunshine. However, the berry waffles were a bit average and didn’t quite stand out. On the plus side, the price was reasonable. Overall, I’d give it four stars and would recommend it for a nice, relaxed brunch⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely place. We had the Mother knows best salad and the Hot wings. The salad was fresh and delicious and the hot wings were amazing. The sauce had the correct amount of heat to it. Also had the Jungle Juice cocktail which was very refreshing. Service was quick but it wasn’t busy.

Late post but wanting the world to know our family had a great time at this place. 😊 The staffs are amazingly friendly and welcoming. Despite the busy day they are quick to serve the food. Reservation is highly recommended especially for big group.

What an awesome place!! This is possibly the best customer service I have ever experienced and some of the quickest food as well. Both servers were incredibly lovely and accommodating. My partner had the waffles, which he really enjoyed, and I had the breakfast burrito. Both so so good. Price was around $40 for 2 meals and a drink (incredibly good for the CBD) The atmosphere and vibe of this place was incredible, especially in the Sunday morning sun. Right in the CBD and next to bus stops, great location. We will 100% be coming back here again and recommending it to friends. Thank you so much for a lovely Sunday brunch.

Service here was actually quite good — drinks and food came out quickly, and the server was friendly and polite. Unfortunately, the food itself was pretty average. I ordered the big breakfast and the most disappointing part was the poached eggs, which were very clearly hard-boiled. I was genuinely confused. When ordering, I was asked if I wanted my eggs scrambled or fried; I asked whether poached was an option and was told yes (albeit a little hesitantly). If you’re going to offer poached eggs, they can’t be hard boiled — especially when there are already other reviews mentioning the same issue. Surely this is a basic breakfast skill. When we went to pay, my partner mentioned that the eggs weren’t poached at all, but nothing was said and we were still charged full price. Good service, but a disappointing breakfast overall.

Food was good had the 2 types of ribs. Delicious. Cocktails are Devine. Ribs was tender, mash was smooth and tasty. Will definitely go there again. Loved the decorations of currency all over

Food was fantastic! Definitely a place you need to try over multiple visits. Jambalaya was fantastic and so were the beignets! Also had the po' boy. Definitely going again!

I wish I had taken a photo of my friends milkshake because it was amazing! My coffee 5/5, some of the best in Wellington. Everything was delicious 🤤 my eggs - perfect! Potato hash - amazing! I got the Big Js Breakfast and it was the perfect size. Can’t wait to go back!

This restaurant is fantastic! Quirky, lively music and environment. Fun decorations and lights and the music was very upbeat. Only one employee out front but he was incredibly kind and patient and got our food out quickly! Food is delicioussss we came for breakfast and all our food was great. My dad is gluten-free and he was able to have a gf waffle here!! Fantastic would come back

Pretty good - fresh flavors with a variety of choices in a fun, casual atmosphere. It took a while for our food to come out, but otherwise service was friendly and polite. My wife got the breakfast burrito, opting not to add anything to the black bean base. Taste was fresh if not a bit bland, and while the burrito is a pretty decent sized serving, it does not come with anything as a side. That was the same for my Pork PoBoy. It had a good fresh flavor, but also comes solo, and was only moderately sized. Prices are OK for what you get given where you are, but you may want to opt for a side if you are hungry. Lots of people around us were getting shakes and they looked good if you're in the mood for that. Lots of fun memorabilia abounds, and there are good views of the sidewalk and street from most seats.

I've been coming here a long time. However this time was different, so different I had to enquire if it had changed hands. It has. It's not the same. The Thick shake was flavourless, these were always icy cold, thick and flavoursome. Sigh. But the worst was the ribs. They used to be the best in Wellington. Now someone decided to replace the baby ribs with fewer leaner ribs. Nowhere near as nice. My son had chicken tacos that were filled with shredded lettuce mostly. We won't be back. Service was v good. No complaints there, just the food was disappointing.

Coming from the US, this restaurant had great options on the menu that reminded us of food from the states. I really haven't found tacos that are very good in NZ so I risked it by ordering the fish tacos. Wow, the risk paid off, it was absolutely delicious!!! My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and he thought it was also very good!! The only negative is my kids didn't love the chicken tenders kids meals, but they are so picky! I thought it tasted fine and we liked the curly fries. I would definitely come back here to try other items on the menu, although I could use more of those fish tacos right about now!

Pretty good. Not cheap, but then again, New Zealand isn't cheap. Very good service. I had gumbo and hush puppies. The gumbo was fine and I ate it all, though it still didn't have the "character" or the "zest" that one would expect in the American Southeast. The hush puppies, however, were amazing. Well done, well fried, delicious--so delicious, dipping sauce isn't necessary unless you just want it. I even told the cashier that those hush puppies were the best I've ever had outside the States, and that seemed to make her day. Worth the visit and a meal.

I walked by this place in the evening and it was packed, with a lineup out the door. Came back just after opening time for breakfast. Had the Big J's Breakfast... very good! Fresh ingredients and homemade multigrain sourdough bread. Best bacon I've had in ages. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Wellington.

I love the atmosphere of this place, with plastic wrestlers swinging from the lampshades and kids drawings lining the walls. I ordered the chicken salad. A LOT of dressing was used, should've asked for it on the side. Also, was a small portion though for an equally small price so I guess that's fair. Had a bite of a beignet which was sinfully delicious. Overall, highly recommend. Lotsa great people watching from outside too (and within reach of free wifi).

Huevos rancheros can be prepared in so many ways. I've sampled more than a few, especially in the American Southwest, so I was curious to sample a kiwi version. First, as always, the long dark did not disappoint. After six weeks in NZ I have yet to be served anything but an excellent cuppa. The huevos rancheros was conventional in preparation but excellent in execution! Egg yolks a perfect gooiness but not runny. Obviously fried slowly and not to a crispy plastic. The generous serving of black beans were the best ever. Although skimpy in amount served, the pico de gallo ("salsa") and guacamole made in house and first-rate.

This place was recommended to us for vegan and non vegan cuisine. We stopped in for lunch while we were in town. The service was pretty decent and attentive. The food was not that impressive. I gather they specialize in Southern cuisine, which is very tangy and flavorful. The fried chicken that I tried was not. The texture of the coating was good and it was white meat, but incredibly bland in taste. I dipped in the sauce more than I normally would. The fries were ok, nothing particularly stand out.

A very nice diner. According to the locals this is American style, but it isn't. This is essentially slightly Americanized British food. Egg, bacon, toast.

They do a pretty good job. The hushpuppies are excellent! The prawn Poboy is probably the closest thing to real cajun we had, but the red beans and rice is pretty close. We will definitely be going back to sample more of the menu.

I would surely come back here when I'm in Wellington again. Fantastic food and drinks!! They have amazing pies, and I'm not much of a fun when it comes to pies but they're one was good. Services was good too always had a smile and was very friendly and helpful as well. I went alone and it didn't even well weird, most places you would feel uncomfortable but not there and I loved that!!

So much character, but a big disappointment with the food. If you stripped out all the decorations from this cafe, the room would be hideous with its office-style ceiling panels and reinforced glass, but the owners and staff have done an amazing job making this a destination; somewhere worth popping your head in even if you don't eat anything. If you just want a slice of cake and some tea, SMK is brilliant, too - you can't cock up cake and tea. Coffee...well, if you're not picky. However, if you want a meal, think again. It's not the price - that's OK - it's just the overall quality really has gone downhill. At the last visit I ate Flossy's Favourite (or something like that) for breakfast. Potato hash - tasted like it was cooked in Castrol GTX. Creamy mushrooms - not creamy. Black beans - fine but already lukewarm by the time I got it. The serving team are pretty good as far as restaurants go, so no real complaints there, but there's something amiss in the kitchen. So, I'll still go there when I want a peppermint tea and a brownie, but there are a multitude of much better breakfast places in Wellington.

Fantastic place, loved the vibe, quirky decor with plenty to look at. The staff were excellent, warm, friendly and very approachable. Delicious meals that were loved by everyone at our table. Will definitely be back again :)

Love the curly fries here. Always packed on the weekend. Great for catching up with bunch of friends. They got cute little tea pot cover makes you feel like you're at your nan. Good selection of breakfast and lunch menu.

This place is a disappointment. This place seems to be advertising itself as Mexican, where it really is just bland cooked food. In order to appreciate Mexican food I believe people should avoid this place as it is just subpar. We ordered fish tacos and a Casadia which both were underwhelming And had no flavour whatsoever even though advertising to have Indian and Mexican spices. I believe they should change their title to bland mothers kitchen.

Cute atmosphere. Ordered the New Orleans style french toast w/bacon, pecans and "maple syrup". Probably should not expect authentic American style food in another country. Toast was OK, done on a baguette. Maple Syrup was not real, and the pecans were old and a bit rancid. Egg dishes looked better, my wife had poached eggs on toast and they were fine.

After hearing a whole heap about this place, I finally managed to visit on my last trip to the fine city that is Wellington. Located on the busy Courtenay Place - near the Embassy theatre end. Eclectic furnishings inside, with its miss matched tables and chairs, give it a relaxed and well loved feel. My vist was at the end of my stay and well, it's safe to say I'd been eating out a lot during my visit (when in Rome...). All I could squeeze in was some pumpkin pie! Despite watching many an American tv show and movie featuring this Thanksgiving staple, I had never actually tried it before. And while it wasn't really what I had in mind of what I thought it would be like - I did really enjoy it. Thanks Sweet Mother's Kitchen for enabling me to fulfill my ambition of finally tasting this delicacy. I hear they do a really good brunch also - so check out the menu for yourself and stop by when you are next in the city.

They have a lovely seating area outside where you can people watch to your heart's content and a couple of nice heaters to warm you up a bit. This was the first place I had a cup of coffee in Wellington and I was not disappointed. I had a flat white and my husband had the long black. Both were perfect. Service was very prompt and polite. The menu has a great selection and the prices are reasonable. You'll find a nice mix of people there. I miss that Wellington vibe.

Starving and searching for a real hearty breakfast. Couldn't have found a better place to serve a large filling breakfast. Be sure to get Flossy's Special. Out of the beans, they substituted cream spinach. You must take each bite with all 5 items. Ta, Sweet Mother's. Friendly staff, quirky decore. Can't go wrong!

This place is very cute! My family and I went here as our first meal when we moved to NZ and their waffles were a little taste of home. I would recommend this little diner and their great coffee!

Nice southern cuisine with quirky and relaxed decor and ambience. My jambalaya was a bit spicy but delicious with a side of corn bread.

Such a gem what a find...the curly fries to die for...eyeballing my neighbours and all other dishes the chilled out waiters were bringing out made me droool...so being a greedy fatty fatty boom boom I got some lemony pear pie to go...delicious highly recommend to all I can see why all the locals go...its a gem

Great service, delicious food, children friendly. We had a lovely breakfast and the coffee was awesome!

We had the burger and it was huge and absolutely fantastic. The curly fries were so good and the service was fast despite them being completely full at mid afternoon. One thing I will say is that the tables are very close together, I felt like I was involved in the conversation of the couple next to us and when the waitress came to serve them, we had a face full of... the back of her. Haha! No worries though the food was worth it. We'll go back.

Everything was pretty good but the curly fries were really good. I think it's more Americanish food morphed into New Zealand style but still good. Recommended to all.

Fantastic food! Love this place, huevos rancheros is so filling and delicious. Best potato hash ever, this place will be good for my soul but baddie my waistline!

This place is really delicious and affordable! The decor is unique with overall good vibes. The servers are friendly but not over the top. We went in on a Saturday morning and were seated immediately, no wait, and ordered coffees, beignets, and breakfast food. All of it was so good and came quickly with no pressure for us to get out quickly. We will definitely come back!

This place is busy on Sunday morning. But that is for a perfect reason. It's popular. The food was amazing and there were too many options but it was a warm place to be on a cold cold morning. Even though it was cold I enjoyed the snickers milkshake. My friends also recommended the French toast which was delightful but my suggestion is to get a side of buttermilk fried chicken. Takes it to the next level!

We ordered Flat Whites and it was good. Then we ordered breakfast, now mind you, it was about 4pm in the afternoon so it did not turn out so well. We had waffles which was slightly burnt, fried eggs with over toasted sourdough bread and Mac & Cheese. Of all three, the Mac & Cheese was the best. So food wise not so great but the coffee was good!

Normally have a great meal here but let down this time. Chicken dish was undercooked (raw) Was sent back and same dish returned a short time later the same chicken had been recooked and same sides which were now lukewarm Just not good enough I would have happily waited for a fresh dish.

Love this place. Had jerk chicken po boy and pulled beef and caramelised onion quesadilla both absolutely delish! Service was really good! Will come back, no doubt!

Nice simple food, relaxed environment.... I come here every time I'm in Wellington. Get the curly fries!!
