On the Grid : Sweet 27

"Sweet 27 is a neighborhood multi-cultural bar and restaurant that prides itself on accommodating all tastes and diets. The menu is a fusion of South Asian, Caribbean and American flavors featured in a variety of mouth-watering starters, entrees, sides and desserts designed to appeal to carnivores, piscivores, pescatarians, vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free diners. In fact, all of their food is gluten-free. The decor is colorful, friendly and inviting; the bar well-stocked with just the right amount of dinginess to make it a regular watering hole. Don't forget to swing by next door for their gluten-free sweets in the adjoining bakery." - Ashton Design

Wow this place really impressed me. Was in town for an event and wanted to try and new spot. My partner and I are gluten free and we also stay away from diary for the most part. As big fry lovers the SIGNATURE FRIES ARE AMAZING. So crispy and delicious. Both are margaritas were good. The lamb and chicken dishes had some spice and really good flavor. The cupcakes were a delightful dessert, moist cake and good flavor for the icing. I would for sure come back. Oh and the prices are amazing! Our whole bill came up to 70 bucks. At a lot of restaurants with less quality, it would have cost us over 100 easily.

Google
We visited after seeing great reviews about the Mango BBQ Chicken Wings and Cauliflower Manchurian, but were disappointed. The restaurant was empty at lunchtime, and service was slow and inattentive. The Cauliflower Manchurian tasted like basic fried cauliflower in orange chicken sauce, and the chili chicken was overly salty, dry, and tough. The only standout was the well-seasoned signature fries. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype.

I have severe celiac disease and was able to eat here without worry. Our server was so sweet, place is beautiful and quiet . Food was absolutely delicious as well as cupcakes. I 100% recommend this place to everyone not just those with celiac disease or gluten allergy. It’s delicious and prices are extremely reasonable.

Look… I’m not someone who usually leaves reviews, but I feel like people with allergies or sensitivities like me should be aware. I went in yesterday July 27th, to treat myself to a cupcake. I got the Nutella and the chocolate raspberry. They were good. A little too sweet for my taste, but I appreciated that they weren’t dry or fake-tasting. The problem is, I got severely sick afterward. I hadn’t eaten anything else that day, so there’s nothing else it could’ve been. The reaction carried into the next day, which is why I’m writing this. I called them yesterday as well to ask if everything was definitely gluten-free. Whoever answered the phone wasn’t friendly, all they said was “yes,” and basically ended the call. If someone’s calling you to say they got sick from your food, I’d expect a little more concern or care. I’m not saying don’t go here, I’ve actually had good experiences in the past. But I am saying: be careful. If you’re sensitive to gluten like I am, just be aware there might be a risk… and that you probably won’t get much help if something goes wrong.

I recently dined at sweet 27 and was thoroughly impressed. The flavors were absolutely incredible - authentic, well-balanced, and bursting with the aromatic spices that make Indian cuisine so special. What really stood out was their impressive variety of vegetarian and vegan options, making it a perfect choice for diners with different dietary preferences. The customer service was nothing short of amazing. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend Sweet 27 to anyone looking for authentic Indian food with exceptional service. I'll definitely be returning soon

Google
Thankfully Sweet 27 is all gluten free. I had a taste for pancakes this Sunday morning and its hard to get gluten free pancakes anywhere unless you make them yourself. I have my usual orders from here but picked items that I never had before. Everything came out so good! Especially the Mango Wings 🤤and I never had hashbrowns the way they prepared them. Well seasoned and good choice of herbs! Kudos to the chef!!

Google
Wow. Everything is gluten free, a lot is dairy free and delicious. It's a cute little place with a homey environment. We walked in through the little yellow side door and were greeted by a cute little bar. We decided to take a few steps up into the restaurant. The restaurant was warm and inviting. Violent Fems was playing on the speakers, and we found a table next to an outlet so we could do our homework. I had already eaten earlier so I ordered fries and a whiskey drink. Yum! The fries are dipped in a chickpea flour batter and fried. They were amazing. They have this cute little bakery with gluten-free and dairy free treats. We ordered treats "to go" along with soup. The treats and soup were amazing for a late night snack. My friend thought the music was too loud and couldn't study very well otherwise I would have sat there all night! I wanted to try so much on the menu. It has all my favorites, chicken wings to fried tofu and a great Indian menu with gluten-free naan! I will be back for sure! They have a thanksgiving menu to go that is gluten-free and dairy free, and comes with everything, including a pie! I'm not much into alcohol other than whiskey, but they seem to have a great drink list with unique beers and wine, too. Edit 1/14/25 - I have been here several times, and it's always five-star service and food! I have to shout out any crispy tofu dish as well as curry! Today, I noticed a new drink menu on the table. I ordered the Masala Chai Sour. It was delicious. I couldn't taste the liquor but could feel it! It has fresh lemon, their signature masala chi syrup, and bitters. We also had their Black velvet raspberry cheese cake that is a valentines special. It is not dairy free or vegan, but it's worth it if you have to take a lactaid!

Yelp
Yummy , Rich, Gluten -Free Goodness ! Sweet 27 is always a fabulous treat. If you are gluten free like myself, then search no further, this is the spot for you. I can't begin to describe how grateful I am for local businesses such as this who cater to the gluten-free folks. They have obviously placed alot of time and energy perfectly their recipes and it definitely shows. I've been here several times, but this time I purchased a few of their cupcakes for my husband and I to share. I bought the tiramisu cupcake, my favorite hostess cupcake, peanut butter chocolate, and chocolate/caramel turtle with pecans cupcake. I'm a huge lover of chocolate and these treats do not disappoint. Moist, soft, delightful deliciousness lol They offer full size cakes as well for special occasions. This place is my go to. They also have wine, other drinks, and an entire Indian restaurant attached too. I've tried the dinner food and its very good as well. It's literally a one stop shop lol. Great indoor and outdoor seating, and eclectic decor. I truly love stopping by when I can.

Yelp
Sooo I've been driving by here for at least three months and today I said no more! I parked and got out. I had no idea it was like a whole restaurant, it being a bakery caught my attention. I went in with the idea to purchase maybe just two cupcakes to try them out, but it was something about how pretty and wonderfully made these cupcakes looked, sooo I ended up getting about 10 cupcakes , the staff was so nice and I couldn't wait to get back to my car to try one and hunniiii, let me to tell you something. I had the carrot cake cupcake 1st and it was THEE ABSOLUTE BEST CUPCAKE IN MY LIFE! My two daughters, son and my mom all had cupcakes and they LOVED THEM!!!! Thank me later, pull-up & get you some!!! Not too mention the decor was super cute.. it was giving very multi-cultural and I loved it!

Yelp
Little caveat to my review is that I got this food delivered - so I can only speak to the quality of the food (and not the ambiance, service, etc.). With that being said - the food I received, even after a delivery wait time, was absolutely wonderful!!! I got the rice balls, chicken parm, and pumpkin muffins. First off - I could not even tell that any of it was "gluten free." (I was actually truly worried that it wasn't but then I had no reaction!) The pumpkin muffins were something I could not stop thinking about and I truly wish I could have them every day for breakfast.

Yelp
I recently decided to cut gluten out of my diet to see how I might feel. The bad news is, I most likely have a gluten intolerance. The good news is, I have Sweet 27 nearby to keep me sane. This place is a gem. They have a completely gluten free menu including baked goods, Indian fusion dishes, and even a bar inside that is open on weekends. I recently ordered their chicken fried rice and I am obsessed. It's not your typical Chinese style fried rice but instead, it's their own take on this comforting dish. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and super tender. The rice is more of a longrain/basmati style rather than your typical jasmine rice. The veggies are plentiful and fresh. I also ordered their tofu bites, the veggie fritters, and their famous Batata Vada. My favorites are definitely the tofu bites and the Batata Vada. The Batata Vada is a potato fritter dipped in chickpea batter (remember, no gluten babyyy) and served with your typical mint sauce and tamarind sauce. SO GOOD. Pro tip: I like to save some of the dipping sauce and stir it into my fried rice for an extra razzle dazzle. I also tried the pumpkin muffins recently and was pleasantly surprised. They taste better when you let them sit out for a bit since they do refrigerate them. These weren't quite as unnoticeable of a gluten free option as everything else, but still impressive enough and satisfied my hankering for baked goods. All in all, I'm a huge fan. I WILL be back... like, maybe right this second.

Yelp
How good is this?! Well we are from SC and last week we were going to see our daughter who lives in Baltimore for dinner. Asked her to pick a place and she chose Sweet 27 Cafe and Bakery because everything is gluten free which her dad, my Honey needs due to allergies. And tonight, as we were driving back from MA to SC, we decided to return back to this restaurant even though our daughter wasn't available, to try some different dishes. Still ordered the sweet potato as the side again as it's amazing to me. Honey ordered the Orange Tofu with the Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes. I ordered the Aloo Naan Bread and the Arancini Rice Ball since I was going to gobble up Honey's Sweet Potatoes that I fell in love with the week before. And it wasn't a one time fluke, it was delicious!! And Honey, who doesn't really like sweet potatoes tried it and really enjoyed it too. I so wish I could get the recipe. I was lucky enough to get one piece of Naan from the basket since Honey ate them all up, creating mini wraps of his orange tofu and mashed potatoes and some of (my ) sweet potatoes, or dipping it into the orange sauce. The tofu was delicious though last week's tomato tofu was better since we both felt the orange was a bit too sweet for a meal. Still yummy and the tofu. Oh, and since they had GF and some vegan desserts, we again got some this time but for different items. Honey chose the Hostess. And after some prompting, I had been having so many desserts the previous few days in Boston and thought it would be better to curtail the sweets, I chose the raspberry ganache tart (I think . . I remembered it said raspberry and tart, and it was so good that it blew our minds since gf and vegan too). The Hostess was incredible too. For the "cream" it must have been coconut cream which tends to have that coconut oil texture and flavor. The "cake" part of it was moist and delicious too. Extremely impressed. I sent pix of the desserts to our daughter who works at another bakery down a few blocks and has come here to buy desserts since her roommates need to eat GF, to please befriend folks here to learn the recipe to send to us or else she's going to have her dad and mom come visit often for these fantastic food!! The desserts are not cheap as the Hostess was $4 or $4.50 which is standard for cupcakes and a great price for specialty like GF. The tart must have been $8 or $8.50. One would think that's high, but then again, when you order a slice of dessert at a restaurant, that's the standard price. Yet, when you taste these desserts, you'd be willing to pay for these. We had the same woman both weeks. She was nice and friendly but in a more reserved way, giving you space to enjoy your meal and company. She automatically brought out an extra plate without our asking. If we lived in Baltimore, it would definitely be our favorite and would be a regular. We came on Sundays both times, but the restaurant has other activities on other nights . . . Ie Happy Hour (there's a whole section for the bar which was closed on Sundays), there's also outdoor seating that must be open on other nights. So many items to choose from

Yelp
Wow, this was easily the worst chicken tandoori I've ever had!! It was dry and over cooked. Which if I was cooking a chicken that was mainly bone, I'd probably over cook it. Save yourself and your money from this place. Definitely not recommended!!
google avatar

Cici H.

Yelp
Had a "pick 4 sides" platter with Chana, sweet potatoes, spinach and plantain with black beans. All was delicious.

Cha'Nayia A.

Yelp
Keep in mind that it's gluten free which is a plus but if healthy eating is something that you're not keen to doing you may not like this place.

Yelp
I've been excited to try their desserts and ordered five cupcakes to bring to a family dinner. Out of all five, I'd only reorder two - the vanilla birthday cake cupcake and the red velvet cupcake. They were moist, well-baked, and just the right sweetness. The hostess cupcake was an extremely weird consistency, like a thick, underbaked brownie. I could barely get the wrapped off, it was stuck to the gooey cupcake inside. It felt like eating melted fudge and the consistency really threw me off. The chocolate raspberry ganache cupcake was fine, but it didn't really stand out from the rest of the cupcakes and the cake was pretty dense and it became denser in your mouth. A raspberry jam or drizzle would go a long way. The cookies and cream was baked well, but it barely had any flavor. I was expecting a pretty sweet flavor but it was very muted, even the icing wasn't very sugary. However, if you like toned down desserts or can't take too much sugar, this one's for you! I've only tried dessert so far, but I've read some great reviews about some dishes I want to try for lunch and dinner soon!

Yelp
Sudden emergence of a sweet tooth? And specifically for vegan cupcakes? Never fear...Sweet 27 Cafe and Bakery has got your back! I was pleasantly surprised to see that Sweet 27 had a wide variety of vegan cupcake offerings! A few weeks ago, I ordered a vegan German chocolate cupcake and 2 vegan chocolate/raspberry ganache cupcakes. These cupcakes were AMAZING! I cannot emphasize enough how delicious, rich, and decadent these cupcakes were. I'm certain that a non-vegan would love these cupcakes just as much as I did! I can't wait to try more of the vegan cupcake offerings at Sweet 27, perhaps when I next get a sweet tooth!

Yelp
Total hidden gem in N. Baltimore! Has been a neighborhood go-to for years. Where else can you get delicious homeade curries and gluten free treats in the city? Atmosphere is super chill, perhaps decor a tad outdated, but there is a real charm to this place. Prices have also always been super reasonable! Staff is kind and laidback. Was told the bar was now open from Wed-Sat. Lastly, some of the best fries in the city! But fr, can you guys bring back sweet potato fries puhleeze!!

Morgan J.

Yelp
My gluten free dreams came true. Thanks for having food I can eat with confidence I won't become sick!

Yelp
One of our traveling companions is unable to consume gluten without becoming violently ill. So, eating and drinking while on the road for our group can be somewhat of a challenge. Thank heavens for places like Sweet27 Cafe! The place is small and unassuming but, holy hell! does it pack it with amazingly delicious stuff! Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we were unable to enjoy the full experience. We had to order our food and eat outside on cute little tables that littered the sidewalk. This actually lend itself for a perfect morning full of food and a little hair of the dog (see pic) I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo with mashed potatoes and curry chickpeas. Not not only was the food some of the most delicious I've had, but the portions were massive! My friend had a pizza that, just like my dish, was enormous for the right price. They also offer a good variety of boozy drinks including these bottled cocktails that were pretty amazing. Thank you Sweet 27 for making our first morning stop memorable in Baltimore!

Yelp
So I used to love this place. We would go at least once a week for lunch pre-COVID. I used to get the spicy chicken but today, I decided to try something new. I'm not sure if it's under new management, but I was sorely disappointed when I went to pick up my order today. The fries ($8) were good, hot and crispy. I wish they had a single serving for less money. Now for the main dish, the Saag Shrimp ($17) . I received 5 small shrimp....just 5. They were also overcooked. I feel duped. I'll try the spicy chicken again for old time sake. Hopefully, they were just having an off day. We'll see.

Yelp
What a find! So happy my book club picked this place. The happy hour deals are amazing; I got a so much food at such reasonable price- I was able to eat a large hearty meal, with two beers for around $20! I picked the General Tso Tofu, with rice & a beer deal. They gave me a hearty portion of rice, with herbs on top, that tasted so fresh. The tofu was cooked perfectly; nice and crispy, no soggyness, with ideal amount of sauce-not smothered. It tasted like a home cooked meal, prepared with love. The staff was super friendly-just know they do sit back and give you your space; we had to call them over when we were ready for the bill. They also let us sit at an up-top table instead of bar area only happy hour, because our group was so large. I definitely want to go back and try different happy hour specials and menu items. I saw someone nearby get the chicken wings and they look large and juicy!

Yelp
What an amazing restaurant! I found it on the Find Me GF app and it did not disappoint. As someone with severe gluten intolerance, I am always nervous eating out at restaurants and I did not experience any troubles after eating this food. Will definitely be going back the next time I'm in Baltimore :)

Yelp
This review is for the bakery only. Came here for a sweet treat. Upon entering the business, which was located in a renovated rowhouse, we were greeted by a pleasant young lady. They had a variety of cupcakes ($2.95 each) and cookies packaged by the dozen. There was ample seating and complimentary coffee available. We purchased red velvet, cookies and cream, German chocolate, turtle, and carrot cake cupcakes. The flavors were good and not too sweet, just as I prefer. There is street parking available and garage parking less than two blocks away. All in all, a nice place to grab a sweet treat.

Yelp
I was in PD this week in the city and there was a day where I couldn't have the catered lunch. All fine and dandy because I finally got to try something from Sweet 27! It was just tacos but the mix of proteins and veggies were perfect! These chicken tacos were STACKED! Took me right back to Mexico. I just remembered that I also order collard greens w/carrots. Melted like butter in my mouth, perfectly juicy. Only thing missing for me was bacon. Sorry not sorry I like my greens with bacon cooked in. Just adds a little soul to it. Will definitely have to come try some desserts!

Yelp
Wow. I think I have found my new favorite restaurant ever. Everything is gluten free, amazing vegan options, beautiful ambiance, and the food is extremely delicious

Yelp
This is a neighborhood gem. I absolutely love their vegan cupcakes. I love love love them. If you've never tried them, you should give them a go. Let them defrost from the cooler a little bit, and they are amazing.

Yelp
Delicious gluten-free cupcakes. Great variety of different gluten free cakes and other bakery items.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful for our family's dinner last night! (And the leftovers will be great for lunch the next two days) Thank you Sweet 27! My personal faves are the spicy coconut veggie soup and lamb vindaloo. And the chana masala and the garlic kale. And the plantains!! I could go on and on forever. It's a great spot and I feel so fortunate to have it in our neighborhood and miss stopping by on my walk to/from work. For my kids who prefer foods that aren't spicy, we like the tofu bites with mango sauce and garlic shrimp with rice. And, of course, the cupcakes can be good incentives when getting kids to try new foods! Oh, and we just tried their pumpkin pie for the first time and I think it is my new favorite. It actually tasted like pumpkin(!) and the crust was light, flaky and slightly sweet. Service was excellent. Zero wait. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Bombay tofu was absolutely incredible. Lightly dairy flavored, creamy, smooth. Basmati rice and sweet potatoes were okay sides but I would likely try something else next time. I had a bite of the orange chicken - very strongly citrus! Tart, not overly sweet. I prefer a lighter touch myself but if you're into big flavors, this is the thing to get.

Yelp
Our new favorite spot in our new neighborhood. We just moved to Baltimore and our landlord recommended we check out this spot first. This little bakery (connected to their bar and restaurant) is a little shop with a few tables but a solid selection. When you walk in, your eyes are immediately drawn to the massive dessert case at the end of the cafe. They've got beautiful cupcakes and desserts to choose from, kombucha, beer, wine, and a full kitchen. We were here to eat. I asked the staff what they would recommend for a first timer. She recommended the sweet potato mash as well as the cauliflower manchurian, so we went for it. I say this as an Indian, those are some quality spices and flavoring. Served in beautiful metal baskets (similar to what you'd see at a Punjabi restaurant) we were excited. I'd describe the flavor as a indo-Chinese taste, which was fantastic. My fiancé and I split these items and we were very satiated. Will definitely return to attack desserts.

Yelp
Excellent food and service:) Masks up 6ft distance No touch pay and carry out only!

Yelp
Great food and customer service I had the fries which were plentiful and delicious along with the tofu bites.

Yelp
Delicious savory and sweet food -- all Gluten Free! Many vegan items too, with Indian curries and sauces. Leave room for dessert or bring home some PB cookies or great cupcakes!
google avatar

Misti M.

Yelp
I have enjoyed both catering and cupcakes from Sweet 27. There was a great variety of kinds of cupcakes and the vegan options have made our catering really easy. Hope to get back soon to check out the full Sweet 27 experience!

Karen G.

Yelp
This place deserves to be packed! Delicious food and friendly service. And a really cute setting as well. So nice to find a varied and inventive menu with plenty of gluten-free and vegan options. (As well as meat dishes.) And a full bakery and bar!

Yelp
I'm actually writing this review years later, because I really enjoy this place, I forget the name when we try to go, and have to look it up every time I visit. Thank god, it's easy to look up since it has a bakery and bar right next to each other. I don't remember everything we have ordered, but it has always been good to amazing. The one thing that I really enjoy that I don't see on the menu was a curry soup. I don't know if it was a random special or what, but it was delicious, and know my mom has made trips into the city just to grab it. Definitely recommend giving Sweet27 a try.
google avatar

Kayisha E.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't written a review for one of my favorite places to grab a bite! So far, I've tried the veggie platter with chana masala, basmati rice, and black beans and plantains. All of it was delicious both separately and together. I also ordered the greens with black beans and plantains a different time. I didn't get a lot of black beans the 2nd time around but still good. Also, the greens are okay but not my fave. I learned that one okay side doesn't stop the rest of the show from being amazing. I recently tried the Manchurian Cauliflower. Oh, Baby! This dish is by far one of my favorite vegan meals ever! The flavors work so well together. This is a must try (and definitely a dish I'll have a taste for often). I always find a reason to make my way here to grab a cupcake or 2 (okay maybe 3, but who's counting lol). The toasted coconut is one of my favorites but they're all so delicious (added bonus: gluten free too :-) Overall, go here! You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
I love this charming, random, little spot. It has delicious gluten free and vegan desserts that are so tasty (the hostess cupcake is so good!). It also has legit Indian food. And it has a lot of other food too. It also has a bar that has a very old school feel with real wood etc. It's such an odd little place that's doing too much but also the right amount at the same time. It's totally unique and a gem. And the food is great!

Allyn-Laurie S.

Yelp
I was sitting here reading about the best soups in Baltimore and I had to write about Sweet 27's soups. DIVINE! Whenever I am sick i order a large container of all three of their soups. (They usually make three a day.) There is usually a spicy Thai soup which recently has been chicken a vegetarian soup which I think is a curry, Panang curry or something similar. Panang curry is delicious, thick, sweet and spicy; it sounds crazy but it is sort of like sweet and spicy peanut butter. The third is frequently a special. I like them so much that whenever I call, I ask or beg, really to teach me how to make their soups. Personally, I love soups and make them all the time so I do consider myself to be a good judge of soups. These are delicious; you should try them for yourself!!

Sylvia S.

Yelp
1st time customer and place dud not disappoint. Chocolate with peanut butter icing hit the sweet craving. Pumpkin cream just as good. Place clean. Looked like restaraunt inside the bakery. We'll revisit. On street parking difficult.

Yelp
This place has delicious home cooked food for a great price. I was blown away by the portions- absolutely awesome value for a tasty lunch. I had the Bombay chicken and chickpea masala with rice. And I loved it. Would totally get it again. The staff are really friendly and helpful. You seat yourself at tables for lunch and they bring out your food after you've ordered at the counter. You can grab small cups for water or buy a different beverage. The atmosphere is pleasant but not the memorable part of the experience. I'd definitely recommend this great place. It's not life-changing but it's a good lunch!!

rachael w.

Yelp
Consistently great all GF options and variety - from sweet to savory. Many DF and V choices in addition to flavorful fish and chicken options.

Samantha C.

Yelp
The tofu was nice a crisp and great flavor in the General Tso's sauce. Chicken fried rice was also very flavorful. Very quick and friendly service!

D W.

Yelp
I would be wary of ordering on line. They refused to make good or refund an order where I paid for sides, and had the receipt print out to prove it. They said my meal came as was on the picture, even though I got a drop down on line to add sides. They acknowledged the error is on their end. Still a worker wanted to argue with me on the phone and then had the owner text me this; Hi Ma'am. The meal which you got was correct. It comes with rice n pita bread. As you can see in description in above picture. It was a system glitch. My owner will call you. Let me know what is the best time to call. I have ordered from them several times, but apparently they don't really value or respect repeat customers. They do not believe the customer is always right, apparently !

Lakisha W.

Yelp
I went here on Nov 17th at 8:30 pm and I wish I could rate it better. The cupcake was great! BUT the service and the food were as if they had it out and just reheated. The flatbread was hard and the Saag Shrimp I ordered was disappointing, I could tell the shrimp was reheated due to the hard chew of the meat. Gave it two stars just because the cupcake was good. The service received a 2 dollar tip despite the lack of customer service.

Yelp
One of the best cheesecakes I've ever had in my life. The top half of the cake was tangy and zesty, with just the right amount of sourness and not too sweet. The base perfectly balances out the top and acts as a palette cleanser. It was $7, but so worth the money IMO.

Yelp
Great food, but extremely loud. We went there with colleagues, hoping to run a quick meeting there after work, we did poorly on location choice, due to the level of ambient noise. We were not able to hear one another across the table, despite being on the verge of shouting. On the upside, the food was really good, with a special mention for the degree of spiciness, which was definitely beyond what I would expect outside Asia and India. Several of us, who are usually complaining about the lack of spices in the dishes were pleasantly surprised, to the point of having trouble finishing some dishes due to the level of heat.

Yelp
Not sure what to make of this place yet. I need to revisit to try more items on the menu. They have a wide variety of food from many different cultures, so it's very intriguing! They don't have a lot of space in the cafe/bakery side, but it does look like there's another side that has a bar and restaurant. That section opens a little later in the day. Food was tasty. We had the pesto veggie pizza and BBQ chicken pizza. Very unique because I'm sure they were healthy versions of pizza. I recommend the carrot cake cupcake! Definitely very delicious!!!! Must have item!

Yelp
Delicious gluten-free food! I ordered the Batata Vada, Jerk Chicken and Orange Chicken. Also ordered cupcakes, muffins and cookies. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I am so happy to have such a great local gluten free restaurant to enjoy. The saag chicken was wonderful. The cup cakes are delicious. I am looking forward to sampling the pumpkin and pecan pies for Thanksgiving! Yum!

Yelp
$24 dollars for a 6-pak of beer I definitely should have asked before, but here we are. The chocolate peanut butter tart is yummy, and so is the chocolate raspberry. I can do without the cheesecakes.

Yelp
We get cupcakes from Sweet 27 all the time. Tonight we had catering (orange chicken, Bombay chicken, saag paneer) and everything was SUPERB!!!!! Absolutely delicious! We also got the peanut butter and chocolate cake, so delicious and not too sweet. Our guests raved about the food. Love this place and highly recommend!!

Yelp
My second time there. Last time I bought chocolate mousse cake and it was great! This time I want to try some new flavor. I asked the owner and he recommended cheesecake and raspberry. I wasn't sure why it was raspberry until I tried it. The fresh raspberry sauce was filled in the cupcake -- so delicious! And the cheesecake cupcake is creamy and tasty. They both are not too sweet so are just right to me. The curry here is good, too.

Yelp
The three words I would use to describe the cupcakes here at Sweet 27 Cafe and Bakery are: dry, dense, and pedestrian. Of the four cupcakes my friends and I tried (carrot cake, birthday cake, salted chocolate caramel, and chocolate turtle), all of them were compact and desiccated, with the chocolate derivatives being cloyingly sweet. Poignantly, one of my friends stated that he would not be surprised if the cakes were baked 3 days ago. Although the cupcakes themselves were beautifully decorated, the banal flavored pastries were only one step above store-bought cupcakes. It is in my firm opinion that I, or anybody really, could have made better cupcakes (either from a box or from scratch). I will not go here again.

Yelp
The food here is delicious!!! I stopped by for lunch and during that time the restaurant isn't opened yet, just the cafe. The cafe is a no frills type of place....just really yummy food. It's all gluten free too (which we know isn't relevant unless you have celiac disease, but that's besides the point). The cafe has a couple of tables and a high top bench instead with a couple of plugs on each wall. There are also two small tables on their stoop where you can sit and eat. Here's all the delicious food we ordered: Chana masala - very flavorful!! Plantains Tofu ginger (too bland for me, I'll skip out next time) Fish were amazing and overflowing with yummy vegetables. The carrot cupcake was ridiculously good, like eye rolls in the back of my head, sit and savor every minute of it, melt in your mouth good! I can't wait to have another one. Best part is, you don't leave smelling like food! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I will say I am pretty impressed with this place! Being that my husband is quite allergic to gluten we have to be very conscientious of going to trustworthy establishments when they say they have gluten free options. We have held a birthday dinner for my husband there one weekend and they did great! They have a good deal of options, mostly all with a Indian theme - including some vegan dishes for a few of our friends. They have a vibe of a corner restaurant but it's pretty clean. There is one downside of street parking but we've gotten lucky on most visits. One really great feature is the separate/attached bakery storefront! Their cupcakes and cookies are delectable - just a bit pricey. One day I may actually splurge on a gluten free cake!! For those on the lookout for a substitute for gluten free baked sweets (since the place in Cockeysville closed), this may be your option
