Yelp
TL;DR and summary at the bottom...
In case you did not know, this place serves either vegan or vegetarian food. I don't know exactly which, forgive me. I do know there is no meat, and ingredients are natural.
Went here because of how delicious the food looked on Yelp, I also liked that my fellow Yelpers were saying how the food here is real, flavorful, and did not taste like "health" foods tend to.
Ordered a cheeseburger, and the combo that made it come with steak fries and a drink (got Hollunder soda).
I also got a dip which was not ketchup, but a tomato pesto I think. (liked that while it costs 80 cents, the size is appropriate to last through the portion of fries.
The burger was, well, half-balanced in that there was a good bread to patty to vegetable ratio, but a little more cheese/sauce would definitely be nice. In addition to being half-balanced, the burger was easy to grasp, and you did not have to squeeze the life out of it, while opening a lion sized mouth to take a bite out of it. Buns remained dry throughout eating.
However, there were several issues I had with the overall taste of the burger.
First, I would have liked the patty be cooked a little darker on the outside. While I realize soy is not equal to meat, but it would have made it taste a little nice, I think.
Second, the burger was dry. Vegetables were along the lines of a pleasant, undressed Cole slaw, and there was too little sauce.
Finally, the burger was a little flat. I don't mean this in terms of its shape, but rather its dimensions of flavor. The vegetables, bread, and soy patty all came together nicely, but forming only one dimension. This applies to flavor, consistency, and taste profile of all the ingredients. In a regular burger, for instance... the meat gives on dimension, tomato another, onion a third, bacon a fourth... here it was all one.
Again, I realize they can't add bacon, but a vegetable topping aside from just a nice Cole slaw could be extremely beneficial.
Fries were good. They were not bad, but they were not spectacular either. They were hot, barely crispy, and not oily. While they were under-seasoned, that is likely because they have five different spice grinders with 5 different spices (pepper, salt, red peppers, garlic? oregano?,) They also have Tabasco sauce.
Love the customizable fries idea, but would be nice if a dip was included with them, rather than having to be purchased extra.
Soda was wonderful, but the amount they give is a little too small.
Overall portion is satisfying, but not falling, for me anyway. (you won't be hungry, you won't be full) Value is good, but not great.
Location was dazzlingly clean, service was nice and extremely fast.
TL;DR:
1. Fast, polite service, clean location
2. Steak fries good, seasonings a cool idea, but dips being extra are a little unpleasant.
3. Burger was okay, it was a little dry and a little one-dimensional in flavor.
4. Satisfying but not filling portion.
Summary: I cannot tell you if you don't eat meat, but... if you, like me, eat meat... If you have a craving for a burger, go elsewhere, if you want to try a solid burger without meat, or are taking out a vegetarian friend, this place should be on your list of places to try.
