Decent coffee, not the best I've ever had. I had the chai and my partner had a vanilla latte, which I felt was very bitter. The cranberry orange scone was very good. A decent amount of seating, but it can get pretty loud in there when it gets busy.

Google
Great coffee, convenient location! Several different roasts for pour over options. I’d recommend!

Google
The staff is friendly and helpful. The mango iced tea is refreshing for a hot afternoon. The cappuccino I got had nice sweet espresso but was definitely on the milky "wet" side of a cappuccino. There is a decent amount of seating -- 4 low tops at a bench seat, bar seating along one side, and a few high top tables. The environment is calming with wood siding, bread fixtures, beautiful stone tops.

Oh my goodness, the drinks here are absolutely amazing, delicious. I wasn’t sure of what to get, but the Assistant Manager, Catherine, took time to ask me how I usually like my drinks and she made it way better than I could even hope! I haven’t had my coffee this good since I was in Argentina! Try this place out when you are in DC!

Karina Quintana

Google
Stopped at Swing’s after lunch and tried their cortado. Really smooth coffee, highly recommend!

Google
Stopped in for a variety of coffees early in the morning. Very good real coffee (or even decaf if that's something you have to have).

Google
A very pleasant surprise! Walking around the White House, I was struggling to find a good coffee place. I checked this out and it was great. The espresso was full of different flavors and done with quality. Vanilla latte was smooth and tasty as I like. I liked the environment too and it wasn’t busy at all. Very good coffee.

Google
Great coffee, some of the best cold brew in the district. Their baked goods used to be great too, but after they switched to these pre-packaged items the quality has plummeted. While I may still pop in for a coffee, I will never risk their food again after getting this moldy cookie.

Yelp
Great coffee shop on 14th Street downtown. Pretty large space with lots of single/duo seating and with lots of natural light through the floor to ceiling windows. The vibe ebbs and flows with the number of people - quieter to much louder when full. The staff handles the busy times well. Nice selection of coffees and parties. They have autumn flavors on the menu now.

Yelp
Got some coffee when in DC. This place sold an ok cup of drip coffee. I did ask for the barista to keep some room for cream which he didn't do. I ended up throwing a bit of the coffee away to put in the cream. The creamers were put in another section of the coffee shop. There were a ton of seating at this coffee shop and I liked the ambiance of the place.

Yelp
This is a nice local coffee shop in the business district. A lot of people in the morning, mostly office workers from the surrounding area. The personnel is nice and busy. Coffee tastes good.
google avatar

Yelp
solid coffee, open weekdays near the WH, the espresso is done well, the pastries are outsourced and were ok. Space is nice and service was friendly
google avatar

Austin P.

Yelp
This was so good! I ordered one of the seasonal drinks (honey lavender latte) with almond milk. And decaf, because it was the afternoon. The drink was so pretty and tasted as good as it looked!
google avatar

Risto K.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop. Simple, clean spacious with extra clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Oat milk latte was delicious

Himani P.

Yelp
MATT, JACK AND BEN were AMAZING!!!! They gave us the best service ever and they gave us amazing recommendations!! We will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
I had a great Oat Milk Latte here. Cool atmosphere and decor. Quick Service from very friendly staff.
google avatar

Sherelle L.

Yelp
I had the best service here! I literally stood there (I'm so indecisive) and talked to the people working until they picked out a drink for me lol. My drink was so tasty, but I don't know what it was since they made a special blend for me! I mean look at the latte art! They took their time and really do well with their craft. If I lived here this would be a regular spot for me
google avatar

Carol S.

Yelp
Latte was excellent. The employees are super nice. The one who made my Latte told me it was made with a lot of Love! I believe it. Define worth going back. Only thing was there was no offer to warm my scone. Probably to keep the line going.
google avatar

Kerwin T.

Yelp
Ordered cortado, im my humble opinion coffee is just a bit better than starbucks. Espresso felt like roasted too dark / robusta beans. Ill test espresso blend they roasted see if its the same profile Location itself is nice and clean

Yelp
Awesome spot for real cappuccino near JW Marriott. Free WiFi so can work a bit there. Plenty of bar seats

Yelp
Absolutely great! The service was very quick, they offer free tap water and sparkling water. I got a cold brew with almond milk and vanilla - the drink was absolutely energizing and I am glad we just happened to run into this place. I will definitely be going back to this place. Shout out to the staff too, very professional, friendly and offered their own twist on their suggested drinks.

Yelp
Stopped by after doing some monument sight seeing. Had an iced latte and my friend bought an iced americano. Delicious coffee and nice interior!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my new favorite places for coffee in DC and I can't believe I didn't try it earlier! The iced vanilla latte was one of the best I've had in the downtown area - super creamy and smooth. I will say it's a little on the expensive side even for DC, but I appreciate their commitment to ethically sourced free trade coffee! Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cup of coffee while strolling around the White House area.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Favorite coffee that I had in this area of DC- the coffee was flavorful and complex. I also had a gingerbread muffin which was quite delightful and filling. There isn't much room to spread out and work, but if you're just stopping in to chat with a friend or doing some quick work this place has adequate space to do that. They also have a sparkling water dispenser next to the regular water dispenser, which I thought was unexpected but a very nice touch.

Yelp
Officially, Swings Coffee is my new favorite people-watching coffee house in Washington D.C. Why? First of all, because of the customer service. The amazing baristas named Grace & Shreez (I'm sorry if I misspelled) were friendly and polite. There is positive vibes only in this spot-- I loved it! Second of all, location could not get any better since it's right off the Metro Canter station. There are scooters all over the place too. I imagine it would be hard to park your car, but I saw a parking garage in the opposite side of the shop if you really have to drive. Or street parking, maybe. My first drink was Latte with oat milk and second drink was mocha with oat milk, both delicious. Don't you dare judge me for drinking too much coffee :) I had to get a lot of sh*t done on this rainy Thursday. Haha! But I have to mention it's not the taste that makes this spot my favorite. It's the customer service and this prime location.

Yelp
Best coffee drinks in DC. Not much else to say. I will go out of my way to get coffee whenever time permits.
google avatar

Shweta S.

Yelp
Give it a try if you're looking for coffee in downtown DC that's not from a chain establishment! The chocolate croissant was so-so but the coffee was delicious!
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
The staff here was not the nicest people I've experienced. They were openly making fun of the couple in front of me and didn't even try to hide their judgments. When I ordered my usual Americano the response I received was "have you ever even had one before?". I manage a coffee shop and could never imagine having staff be disrespectful so openly to their customers. Coffee was fine, nothing special. It was disappointing visit.
google avatar

Saphace A.

Yelp
This is a busy place! Lots of people came in wearing their suits, chatting with their colleagues, sitting with their laptops. After all, we are so close to the White House among other workplaces. I walked in and it was loud! I don't know how anyone can concentrate to think! The line wasn't long, but people never stopped coming in. I ordered a flat white with vanilla and oat milk. It was pricey for only 8oz! They also pull their espresso for 21-24 seconds. That sounds short to me, but in bigger cities people tend to like lighter coffee and espresso. So I'm glad I got the flat white (2 shots of espresso). The baristas were mostly black! Yay! It's not typical to see baristas were are people of color. Bunny points for that, guys! The staff was nice though! They seem to like working there.

Alex S.

Yelp
It's a tiny shop with a small pastry selection. The coffee was great but wouldn't say it was my favorite coffee shop on my trip to DC. There are a few tables and some seating along the windows as well. Some of the tables have outlets which is great if you need to charge your phone.
google avatar

Shamara H.

Yelp
They are back! This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the city! Great service, people, coffee, and pastries.
google avatar

Brenda L.

Yelp
Red head lady employee was rude. Ambiance is nice. My coffee was meh. Choose somewhere else.
google avatar

Ruth D.

Yelp
At 10am on a weekday there was a good hum of activity and still a few tables open for mid-morning remote work. Drip coffee is served HOT and flaky pastries available.
google avatar

Mary J.

Yelp
The vanilla lattes are yummy. I gave it a 4 because the latte flavors aren't consistent and the service is bad!! I've been 3 times and they seem angry to be there.
google avatar

Conner M.

Yelp
Cold brew was LOCKED IN! Wish I would've had more time to try one of their pour overs!
google avatar

Alexander P.

Yelp
Love Swing's espresso. On the pricier side but very tasty and strong. If you're purchasing espresso to make your macchiato or latte, go ahead and grab Monin's white chocolate sauce and thank me later. Something about the mix of the two.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Good coffee, lots of windows to people watch, smallish. In the SF Bay Area, we have "Tech Bros". In DC, they have "Staffer Bros" & this is one of the places they have coffee.
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
DC influencer Anna Meyer described Swing's Coffee as "one of the most underrated coffee shops in the city." It's true. Located on 14th and G Streets NW, downtown DC hides this top rated coffee shop. It's in the bottom floor of a sterile office building, but bland it is not. Swings Coffee shop is brightly decorated with classy tiles and wood. There is plenty of window seating and a few tables to the right. Order at the bar a latte (the best in downtown DC) and a pastry (the chocolate croissant is great!) and your day will be made. Keep up the great work, Swings Coffee!
google avatar

Joanne C.

Yelp
I go to Swing's every single day I work at my office in downtown DC. The baristas at the 14th St location are simply the absolute best!! My drinks are always delicious and crafted in the best manner possible. The milk is always creamy and there's just enough espresso in my drink to kickstart my day. And the lovely latte art is the cherry on top! The prices are consistent with what you pay in the city, but you don't always receive excellent service at other cafes like I do here. I've yet to experience any issues with my order and I've frequented this location since their opening in 2017. I give praise to the baristas each chance I get! They truly make my day and wouldn't pass them up for any other café if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Swings in DC brews a very consistent and good cup of coffee. It's location is just steps from the White House. You can also pick from a variety of pastries to go down with your coffee. The shop is small but there are some seats to sip away your day. Swings roasts their coffee and is knowledgeable on all things coffee. This company has been around for years and is worth a visit if you happen to find yourself in Washington and in need of some caffeine.

Yelp
I would give this place 5 stars, except for a shitty experience today. If you ever come to this place, and the girl with puffy fro pulled up on top of her head, terrible eye liner, and equally terrible attitude tries to make your espresso drink, ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE. Why? Somehow she was able to make a latte and a mocha taste like dirt water. Weak as fuck, where's my espresso at dammit? I paid $13 bucks for two drinks that tasted as bleh as that chick's attitude. What attitude you ask? Look, I'm not asking for a colgate smile and perky chirpy greeting, but I'd also like to NOT be treated like picking up my drinks is somehow offensive to her soul. Especially when her drinks are meh as her personality. And she slapped those drinks down on the counter without calling out the order #. When I asked if that was my order, she answered like this was the dumbest question on planet. Sorry, lady, there are three other customers waiting - was I supposed to read your mind and know that this was my drink via telepathy? Maybe her attitude is terrible because she drinks her own espresso drinks. I'd be cranky af too.

Yelp
Really loved this cute spot! The staff was helpful the coffee was great and the area was clean and trendy. I got a vanilla latte and it was only $5 for a large and was great- not super sweet which I appreciated. My roommate got the draft latte which was sooo delicious but be warned it was quite sweet and creamy (not that that's a bad thing!). Also if you're looking for somewhere to do work or study this is pretty small but there are tables. When I went around 11 am they were busy but there were open tables. I'm sure it might be crazier on the weekends. I also loved how close this was to the White House! Good coffee-stop spot.

Yelp
Excellent coffee!! Had a cortado and a cappuccino and both were great! Tastiness!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Very kind staff and a delicious cold brew! I picked up a cold brew from them and walked down to the Sculpture Garden and had a lovely afternoon sipping my coffee in the sun
google avatar

Yelp
I love Swings in DC. Disclaimer...I own Starbucks stock so I live at Starbucks...but Swings makes damn good coffees and when work meetings move to a different office, my coworkers and I usually opt for a Swings cup of java. They don't offer soy as an option, I think coffee shops should offer a variety of plant based milks. Knock a star off,l. Swings can get mobbed but the coffee, whatever you order, is solid.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and service! This coffee shop was close to our hotel so we went everyday. I highly recommend oat milk mocha or oat chai!

Ron R.

Yelp
Coffee is delicious....staff not friendly and left our drinks sitting on the counter. They claimed they called out to us. But another person had the same experience. Her coffee sat their unannounced too. There was only 3 customers in the store during our visit. The two people working yesterday were talking amongst themselves and not paying attention to the customers. I don't be like to give my $ to establishments with poor service or attitudes. I'd rather go to a cheerful Starbucks and have lesser quality coffee. I'll go back and try it again unless I see the same two people there.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is definitely popping at normal break times, like breakfast and lunch, but they handle it well because there was no line and they popped my order out quickly. The inside has the typical city vibe with the modern decor. The coffee is very strong so for those strong coffee lovers this is your place! I had a small latte and even with added sweetener it was very strong. I also ordered the cinnamon bun with cream cheese icing and it was quite good and moist. My favorite part, outside of the delicious cinnamon bun, was the design they put in their hot drinks! Just has a way of brightening up the day!

Yelp
After our run around the city trying to make an appointment, we had to stop for a quick breakfast! We looked for the nearest coffee with a decent Yelp rating and stumbled onto Swing's Coffee. It's located in front of the Metropolitan Square. There are a handful of two-top tables and a bistro bar with another handful of chairs. There is a wide enough space to allow for waiting without standing on top of those eating or ordering. We ordered an iced latte, chai, and a chocolate croissant. The staff was fast and efficient! They are probably very used to morning rushes since they operated like a smooth machine. The chai was fantastic, not too sweet and not overly spiced. The croissant lasted 0.5 seconds! Very flaky and the chocolate was just enough sweetness. The coffee was delicious and very much needed to fend off on oncoming headache. I would definitely stop in on my travels through the city or just a quick pick me up during the day!

Yelp
Open during COVID (visited March 2021). I've been dropping by swings occasionally since 2018 roughly, and they do a great job. Coffee selection is very good. Pour overs with multiple options. Price is very, very fair for the quality, almost a bargain. Friendly. Love the look and feel of the place too. They also had donuts this morning.

Yelp
When i walked into Swings the first time, i had no idea that i would be getting an education in roasting coffee beans. Well it all began with a question I had been pondering upon after tasting one helluva bitter cup of coffee which said light?? Wht gives? I asked the barista and she explained that light roast means the beans have been roasted in a way that the flavors of the bean are kept intact to a greater extent. Light roast also retains most of the caffeine from the coffee bean and it is the opposite for dark roast (which has a more smoky or burnt taste than the light roast). So does that mean I should go for dark roast? No, you should still opt for a light roast since its a more "clear" taste if that makes any sense. Mind boggling. Anyhow, such was the education i recieved at Swings and I never looked back. Swings also provides me with snapchat joke fodder in the form of their inconsistent latte art which is less than impressive at time and smtimes pretty flattering (the latte art seems to be indicative of the mood of the barista which is I can appreciate). Cue my pictures for proof :-D And if you are at Swings, make sure you sample some of their baked goods. My favorite is their blueberry muffin (one of the best blueberry muffin in the area with a decadent brown sugar topping yumm). I was hesitant to try their baked good after reading a review but reviews be damned, because the blueberry muffin made me a believer! Another favorite of mine is their chocolate croissant. Oh the buttery layers! Next up is the apple fritter I have been eyeing but cant pick the courage to order because of its massive size. Oh well, till then i will gorge on blueberry muffins and sip on frothy cappuccinos contently.
google avatar

Adam D.

Yelp
You know the place is legit and the baked good are fresh when at 12 minutes before closing they don't charge you for the cinnamon bun you order. In fact, they gave me the last two for free, saying they were just going to throw them out anyway. The house Americano is also so delicious I almost bought a bag of whole beans but I was lured in by the Ethiopian instead. A little lemony, but overall very good. I'll definitely be back, even if I have to wait for a seat. The place is cozy so I wouldn't go with a big group. Free WiFi.
google avatar

Yelp
Tried: nitro cold brew custom mocha Pros: Everything seems to be boutique style and handmade Super friendly staff. Barista custom made my drink to add mocha. Rich flavor without being bitter. Nice views of old buildings in downtown Cons: Limited flavors if you are someone who likes something other than vanilla. Closes at 5 (I get it being downtown) Wish: They had some seats outside
google avatar

Tyler F.

Yelp
Super cool space and setup; however, seating can sometimes be hard to find if you go during a rush. Ordered a 20oz coldbrew with soy milk for only about $4! The coffee was tasty and it was nice and cool to hangout and cool off from the outside heat. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend Swing's Coffee. I know I will be back to try some of their other drinks. They also had some pastry's if you are looking for a bite to eat, not sure if they have any vegan options though.
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
This is a modern feel coffee shop located on 14th street. The lighting and decor are spectacular. I only got a cup of regular Joe for an afternoon snack but the coffee was smooth and my transition was seamless. I am definitely going back to Swing's in the future as this is a good alternative to the typical chain Starbucks.
google avatar

Ellie W.

Yelp
I always try to find local coffee while visiting cities and this was a great find. It is a small shop but cool ambience with lots of natural lighting. They have oat and almond milk (+$1). I had an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. This drink was absolutely fabulous! The only straws they have are paper. I love being environmentally friendly but can't jump on the paper trend. Totally try this place out if you can
google avatar

Yelp
Had a really delicious nitro latte and a chocolate croissant. The interior looks rustic and clean. Very comfortable spot to do some work.
