Swinton Estate (Ripon, Yorkshire) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Swinton Park is impressive enough: a beautifully picturesque 18th-century castle surrounded by some 200 acres of lake-dotted parkland. But that’s only the core of the greater Swinton Estate, which expands to an eye-watering 20,000 acres and encompasses a number of freestanding cottages as well as Swinton Bivouac, a collection of lodges and yurts providing an uncommonly rustic glamping experience." - Tablet Hotels

We recently stayed the night at Swinton Estate in Newby Hall. Everything was absolutely immaculate from the service to the estate. On arrival the doorman was happy to direct us to parking and immediately offered to take our bags. At check in the lady was full of smiles. The same gentleman who offered to take our bags then explained all of the hotels facilities and showed us to our room which was absolutely beautiful. We had dinner at the Terrace and every member of staff we dealt with were fantastic, big smiles and amazing customer service all round. The food itself were to die for especially the Venison Tacos. At breakfast we were greeted promptly with more big smiles and a lady so happy to talk us through the menu. The pastry selection was gorgeous! We also used the Gym and Spa The gym was well equipped and a staff member even popped in to offer to change the air con which was much appreciated. The spa was so well equipped with multiple pools, steam rooms and saunas. The lady who greeted us explained everything and made us feel so welcome from the get go. The changing rooms had ample hair dryers and straighteners as well as private cubicles to change in. On checkout the same lady who checked us in was yet again full of smiles and really topped off what was already such a wonderful escape. Thank you to the entire Swinton team, you were all fantastic and we hope to see you all soon.

What a stunning place this is and the spa is probably the best I have ever experienced. The complimentary activities were an unexpected added bonus all hosted by knowledgable and entertaining staff. The food was top notch and when ill health meant I was unfortunately left on my own for part of our stay, the staff rallied around to make sure I was looked after. Their compassion and kindness shone through. Thank you to the whole team. We will definitely be back in order to finish celebrating our anniversary together and in style.

From the moment we drove up the sweeping driveway to Swinton Park, we knew we were in for something special. The hotel is set within breathtaking grounds that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook. The historic charm of the castle blends seamlessly with modern comforts, creating an atmosphere that is both luxurious and inviting.||Our room was beautifully appointed with elegant furnishings, thoughtful touches, and stunning views of the estate. It struck the perfect balance between classic character and modern amenities – spacious, serene, and wonderfully comfortable.||The staff were exceptional throughout our stay – warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to make us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and every interaction felt personal and sincere.||Dining at Samuels was a highlight. The food was simply outstanding, with locally sourced ingredients showcased in creative and delicious ways. Breakfast was equally delightful – a perfect start to the day, the local trout is stunning, as was the Avocado ||The grounds themselves are a joy to explore. From peaceful gardens and woodland walks. There’s truly something for everyone. We especially loved the sense of tranquility; it felt like an escape from the hustle of everyday life.||Highly recommended for anyone seeking a luxurious countryside retreat with genuine heart and soul.

This was our second stay at this wonderful hotel and it didn't disappoint. The hotel offers so many options of enjoyable experiences. This time we dined in both restaurants, had a day in the Spa, did the complimentary wine tasting experience and finished off with laser clay shooting.||All were superb!! We will definitely be returning😎

We recently got married at Swinton with 40 guests (ceremony and drinks at the hotel, breakfast and reception in the Deer House, staying in the Turret Room) and had a wonderful experience. Despite the weather not playing ball on the day, everyone at Swinton was hugely helpful and both we and our guests thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We even used the Swinton Grange cottage to host a pizza night on the evening before which worked brilliantly and Lee’s cocktail tasting class on Sunday afternoon was also top notch.

The Swinton Estate has everything you can possibly need for a relaxing and romantic retreat. The house and the rooms are lovely, the grounds are fabulously maintained to a very high standard. The service is first class throughout and the facilities and activities offered are all you could wish for. I strongly recommend that you enjoy a stay here.

Enjoyable short stay at Swinton Park Hotel. Excellent food and service in Samuel’s and the Terrace restaurants. Very nice Country Club with great Spa facility which we used and also a well equipped gym. Very lucky with the weather and played a few games of golf at nearby Masham Golf Club a good 9-hole course.

We stayed for three nights and only left the estate once on a walk to Masham. We spent time enjoying several walks in the grounds, relaxing in the spa (no treatments as we had not booked in advance and there were none available), and taking part in some of the interesting complimentary activities, such as the history tour and introduction to the birds of prey, as well as an afternoon tea and the Chefs table. This is a place you can visit for a few days and not step foot off of the estate. We had time to enjoy some of what the estate has to offer, there are lots of walks and places to explore. Our afternoon tea was a little disappointing as the Scones and some cakes were dry, the food at Chefs table was good although probably insufficient for some, and the wine pairings dissappointed as most were similar to the sample menu dispite being served with very different foods. We had one instance of poor service during a very busy breakfast but for the most part this was a very enjoyable break.
