Swiss Diamond Hotel Lugano

We have just spent five days in Swiss|Diamond Lugano and overall we enjoyed it very much. |The views from the balconies are amazing. The tranquility and fresh air is wonderful. Beds and bedding are really nice. Breakfast is excellent with good coffee and it also offers a great variety of included options and some for purchase. Parking is free. ||For a Swiss five star hotel, a few things nevertheless surprised me;|@ Admittedly, we only tried the pool restaurant once, but we quickly decided to use the restaurants in the nearby towns and villages instead. The food was ok but very expensive considering the quality. |@ Maid / housekeeping services were not impressive. For three consecutive days we had a dead bug on the floor and only on the very last day coffee and water was replenished in our two rooms without we had to ask for it. |@ Bathrooms are spacious with all amenities. In room 324, however, we needed to ‘mop the floor’ every time after showering because the glass ’wall’ was not close enough to the side of the tub.

We went for the day-spa pass and were a bit disappointed. While the website gives an impression that this could be a luxury spa, the infrastructure is dated and not well-taken care of (e.g., jacuzzi malfunctioning, dirty external pool, main sauna out of service, Turkish bath without anything). The internal pool area was very loud (there is no separate scheduled time for families with kids) and it is rather average. The showing/locker space is a bit confusing and not really convenient for external guests. The main highlight of the experience is the external sunbathing area, which is nice (beautiful lake view) but it is not very encouraging for swimming (i.e., complicated way to go in, no dedicated platform to stay in the lake). All in all, it’s not worth it.

A very special hotel with a great location and very beautiful rooms. But they have very, very, very bad treatment of the room service and the reception and all the staff just attack us and hang up when we call them and do not respond to us even though we try to be nice to them but to no avail even though I am still a resident and I have been exposed to many problems with them today and I had to comment in Google Maps so that everyone pays attention to this matter

I am currently a guest in this hotel. I see the hotel in terms of view is excellent and their treatment is very good, but there is a big problem, which is the cleanliness of the rooms in terms of the bed and the decor. Despite the large number of guests in this hotel, they do not replace the dirty sheets. There is a second point, there is no iron, which forces you to iron in the hotel, which is an exaggerated amount. Only ironing will cost you from 18 Swiss francs and above for each piece, and there is also a tax on all pieces in the amount of 50 Swiss francs.

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The service was below average and the staff acted unprofessionally. What happened was completely unacceptable: the hotel contacted my father and shared a private and embarrassing matter, demanding that he either pay or come clean it himself—something that is clearly the hotel’s responsibility. This kind of behavior shows a total lack of professionalism and hospitality. The hotel itself was below standard, and the cleanliness and service were worse than older, less expensive hotels I’ve stayed in. I will not return and I do not recommend this hotel to

This place is a re-run of Fawlty Towers as waiters in the restaurant didn't have a clue and the rooms, well the bathroom door had busted hinges and the handbasin plug release had its onob missing making it hard to drain basin. Remember this hotel has grand views but is 10km out of Lugano

Very happy with our stay overall! Rooms were clean and breakfast was ok. You get also a private swim in the lake which is fantastic! Also I totally recommend you try the restaurant! It is a bit pricy but totally worth it! There is also live singing and a great atmosphere and food is also very good.

The hotel is very beautiful, quiet and luxurious, and all their services are great, parking and shuttle service to the center are free during specific hours, but I will not repeat the experience because of the high price first of all for the hotel and secondly the lack of respect for our check-in time, I waited about two and a half to three hours and I was checked in, and there was no justification or specific reason, the employee said that the tenant in the room refused to leave and the reason for the delay, and I was not compensated for anything, it was really the beginning of a bad experience 👎

Had a lovely time here for 2 nights at the tail end of our trip. Sofia at the front desk was very helpful, even before arriving. She allowed us to be picked up at the Melide train station outside of the normal shuttle hours which was helpful. We were greeted nicely and had our bags taken care of and we were allowed to use the facilities because our room wasn't ready yet which was nice. The lake is lovely and you can swim in it. There are also boats for rentals, I just wish they had kayaks. Our first room was initially very low and only gave a view of the parking lot but one quick call to the front desk fixed this easily and we were moved with no trouble. The room itself was fancy and felt very royal. I had two amazing nights of sleep here as the bed was so comfortable. We also received very soft robes. The spa was great as well, I just wish some lights were working in the hammam and that the hot tub was hotter. We opted for massages and these were wonderful - there was also fruit infused water available at the spa and throughout the hotel which was refreshing. The breakfast buffet was also delicious and offered a variety of options + champagne. We did not dine at the restaurant, however as the hotel is located about 10-20 minutes walking from Morcote so we ate there most nights. It was easy to access with bus and the hotel shuttle. Overall, the hotel is a little older and not as modern as some hotels but it still felt classy and was a great stay. I am giving this 5 stars due to the service of the front desk, but I do think a couple of items could have been fixed (making sure all the lights work in the spa, the ladders to the lake were a little dingy and some screws could have been tightened). Overall, I still recommend this place to anyone going to Morcote!

Five STARS all the way from staff to accommodations, they go above and beyond to please the guests at this hotel. Amenities are 5 stars as well. The pool area is beautiful, they have two restaurants, fitness center, spa and so on. A true diamond on Lake Lugano. A live piano player at 7:00 PM in the bar, nice parking with attendance, places to park/yacht if you arrive by water. It caterers to the rich and famous and the fashion world since it is so close to Milan. If you an opportunity to stay here ENJOY!
