Swissôtel Nankai Osaka (Osaka, Osaka Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"With 36 floors of space to play with, Swissôtel Nankai Osaka manages to pack in plenty of facilities right in the heart of Osaka’s Namba neighborhood. There’s also a huge number of guest rooms, 546 in total, including 42 executive rooms and 28 suites that come with Swiss Executive Lounge access, meaning guests can enjoy the hotel’s exclusive lounge and its all-day drinks and snacks. For those without it there are still plenty of options for where to drink and dine amongst the nine restaurants, bars and cafes, including signature restaurant Table36 on level 36, Hana-Goyomi for traditional Japanese cuisine, and NAMBAR10, a fun bar kitted out with arcade games, billiards, and karaoke machines. Pürovel Spa & Sport offers a selection of spa treatments plus a fully equipped gym, hot tub, Japanese sauna, and an indoor swimming pool attractively set under a glass rooftop." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel’s location was a main consideration for our 6 night stay, as it is conveniently located directly above Nankai Namba station with easy links to Kansai International airport. Below the hotel are hundreds of shopping and dining options, and easy access to local subway and train lines. Despite a lost in translation moment around charges at check in, our stay was exceptional and cannot be faulted. As a Gold Accor member, I was apparently granted an upgrade, although any advantages over the original room I had booked, was difficult to determine, was slightly larger maybe? The room size is well above Japanese standards and we had plenty of space with our 3 large suitcases. The bed was absolutely huge and comfortable, though we had to request additional pillows as one was quite thin and the other of odd shape. We enjoyed our complimentary beverages on our second day at Table 36, and ending up dining there the same night. The food and service were truly amazing, along with the city views. Nambar10 is also a quirky place to eat and drink, with a retro music and gaming vibe. Food and drink is more basic and limited. All staff we interacted with were friendly and happy. Concierge were extremely helpful with luggage forwarding on check out. Overall I highly recommend staying at Swissotel Nankai Osaka and will definitely stay here again if we visit Osaka.

I been returning to this hotel for several years now.|I choose to stay here primarily because it sit right in top of the Nankai line's Rapi:t limited express train to Kansai. Just a direct train ride and so convenient.||The check-in was fast at 1pm. Told us to return later when our room was ready and we only had to show our passport to concierge to retrieve the room key. Appreciated that we need not re-queue.||They were kind enough to get us rooms on the same floor as my sis-in-law without us asking.||Tried the Junior Twin Suite room this time. Happy to have a sofa big enough to pack our stuff.||We sent luggages and boxes from three hotels to this hotel as this was our final pitstop. All were in our room when we opened the room door!||Housekeepers were polite and readily provided fresh towels, water etc in lieu of making up the room. ||The room is a bit dark compared to the standard rooms as there's only 1 window letting natural sunlight in. |I really really like the fabric-covered art pieces in the room. Makes the room more inviting and less harsh. ||Beds were medium firm. I do wish i could figure out the pillow menu though. The Accor app doesn't explain each pillow and the hotel operator ending up sending us the exact same pillow types even though we wanted higher, firmer pillows than the neck support ones we originally asked for. Ended up propping up our pillows with bath towels.||I preferred the suite type rooms which have walk in showers but those room aircons aren't cold enough due to their size so i am happy to say i love this room type - able to set to 18 degrees 😃||Six elevators so no time wasted waiting for lifts. ||Had welcome drinks at Table 36 with a nice view. Skipped breakfast this time round and ate at Pronto's downstairs. Also, we discovered a supermarket on the 3rd floor! Post office just downstairs so it's easy to return portable wifi device.||Looking forward to coming back for birthday and wedding anniversary next May.

We were in Japan on vacation and chose the Swissotel Nankai Osaka for its location above Namba station rather than where we usually stay in Umeda. The location cannot be beat for access to the trains, shops, restaurants. We booked an Executive Lounge King room and it was spacious with a majestic view of Osaka. There were a few minor room niggles like no hooks to hang robes and towels but that's hardly worth mentioning. Where the hotel stood out was in the Executive Lounge service, and I'll mention why as it is a unique case of how caring and assisting can save a vacation and make all the difference. On the Shinkansen in I left my backpack on an overhead shelf when we got off in a rush at Osaka Station. After working with JR Lost and Found they located the bag, and it was held at Hiroshima Station. I had two choices - go to Hiroshima or stay in Osaka and have the bag shipped to the hotel. We chose the latter given our Osaka plans, and JR advised we work the details with our hotel calling JR Lost and Found in Hiroshima. Major relief as the bag contained laptop, cash and other valuable items. Once checked in we went to the Concierge where Corina was very helpful and called JR Hiroshima Lost and Found and the line was constantly busy. She said we would continue trying and call our room with what she found. Corina called and said she confirmed with JR that the bag would be shipped on Monday and they'd let us know how much we would have to pay for delivery. Monday came around and we didn't hear anything from Corina and were going to go to the Concierge desk after breakfast in the Executive Lounge. and find out the status. We were anxious because so much could go wrong and without information, we were panicking. Our Executive Lounge Hostess, Noor dietya - "Tya" asked us what we had planned for the day and we told her our lost bag story. Without hesitation she said she would handle everything for us, so we didn't have to worry and could enjoy our vacation. We gave Tya our paperwork and within a few minutes she got back to us and said Corina was off for the day, but Tya would continue to reach out to JR to find the status and confirm delivery. She said she found the delivery would cost approximately 2000 Yen and she collected that from us and arranged for Guest Services to accept the bag. Later in the evening - after her workday had finished - Tya called back and told us the bag had been shipped, and it would be delivered by noon on Tuesday and Guest Services would contact us when it had arrived as Tuesday was Tya's day off. My wife and I can't thank Tya enough for going way above and beyond normal customer service expectations to ease our anxiety so we could enjoy our final day in Osaka. Tya worked extra, in her own time, to make sure the details were handled. On Tuesday, we hadn't heard from Guest Services by noon, so I went down to the lobby, and my bag was waiting for me - but they needed an extra 140 Yen as the totally courier cost was 2140 Yen. I paid the extra and was reunited with my bag but couldn't help wondering why Guest Services did not call the room to tell me the bag was there and they needed 140 Yen to release it. I know that if Tya had been working on that day, she would have been proactive given the amount of stress and worry the missing bag was causing that she showed great sensitivity to. Tya showed amazing caring and understanding that should have been shown by Guest Services on Monday. I do hope Tya receives acknowledgement from Hotel Management as she is the kind of person you want in an Executive Lounge customer facing spot. She is the reason I'm giving a 10/10 ranking as there were other niggles with the hotel (too limited of a schedule for various services like breakfast or evening cocktail hour) that I would have ranked down for - but Tya made up for all those irritants by going the extra mile for us.

We recently spent six nights at the Swissotel in Osaka in a Junior Suite King on the 23rd floor, and it was absolutely fantastic. The views were breathtaking, and the entire experience felt like a true indulgence. As a Diamond member, we enjoyed some really fantastic perks, including access to the club lounge and the stylish Bar36. Mornings started off right with a delicious breakfast spread and plenty of variety. Plus, the hotel’s location directly above Namba train station made it incredibly easy to explore the shopping, nightlife, and dining nearby, there's even a 7-Eleven just downstairs. The staff were attentive and made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

We spent 17 days in Japan & the best stay was hands down here at this hotel. The room was spacious & had every thing we needed. It was close to a lot of attractions & easy to get around being so close to the train station. Breakfast was sensational. We met the restaurant manager, Scott & he together with his bar staff were extremely welcoming. Especially Joanne, Mac & John. They were all incredible. Enough that we came back the next night for hours. Thank you. We will be back.

Our family stayed in Swissotel for 3 nights, and we were very satisfied with our choice. There were plenty of international staff, making communication easy & smooth. Rooms were luxuriously designed, spacious & clean, with fantastic view of the city. Room service was quick & well done. The part we loved the most was Japanese public bath, but unfortunately there was a time restriction (before 18:00) for children under 15 yrs old even with the accompany of parents, which was really inconvenient. Location was extremely convenient; surrounded by many well known shopping malls, plaza, restaurants, food courts & streets; all kinds of public transportation stations were located nearby with just minutes of walking distance. Overall we were very happy with our choice and it was worth the money. Definitely would recommend to others.

Google
Stayed in the Executive Suites. The room was super clean with great city views, and housekeeping kept everything spotless throughout our stay. We also really enjoyed the Executive Lounge for quick breakfasts and coffee breaks. Big thanks to Tya, who was always so friendly and attentive. She remembered both my wife’s and my coffee orders from the day before and brought them over without us asking, and every time we stopped by, she’d refill my water bottle before we headed out. These small, thoughtful touches made the stay feel personal and welcoming. Overall a really nice experience in this hotel.

Very close to Shinsaibashi and different shopping malls! We can always go back to our room if get tired or buy too many stuffs and have some rest. Restaurants around are also cheaper than ones near Shinsaibashi! Room was also big, clean and quiet! The view from the room was also great! Super easy to get access to public transports! We stayed in here and traveled to Kyoto, Nara and Uji for day trips. It will be our first choice if we go to Osaka next time!

Yelp
Swisshotel Osaka an amazing hotel with amazing service with lots of amenities. Multiple lounges and excellent service. Location: is in a prime location right above the subway station and a mall which was extremely convenient both to get around the city and to take the airport train. My favorite part of the market on the bottom floor which has sashimi on sale for 30% off after a certain part of the day which we could just come down around that time and eat it in the room. Room: the room was very clean and the size was pretty large for Japan standards. The views were amazing from the room and certain rooms (not ours) has an awesome view of Dotonbori. Our room had a really nice room of the train station and Garden city area which was almost juts as good. Only Cons about the room was that the TV barely has any channels with no way to cast movies from your home devices and was very privative (although who goes to Japan to watch movies anyways) and I also am not a fan of showers that have a tub but also a glass fold out to block water when you shower as a lot of the time the water still sprays out into the bathroom area. Amenities: This hotel has an amazing Onsen which I was so impressed about! I loved that hosts at the front desk give you the run down that it is all nude knowing I was a foreigner lol. The onsen was very clean and wasn't super busy when I went around 7-8pm time. There was 1 other person. There is a hot Onsen tub which is only like 2-3 feet deep which surprised me getting in and then an ice water tub right next to the heated tub. Super refreshing to jump into the ice pool after the hot tub. There is also a dry sauna. Within the Onsen area there is ice water, shaving kits, towels, etc for you to enjoy. The pool was alright. Swisshotel is usually known for their amazing, high end pools but I felt this pool was just average. Lounges: There is medium sized executive lounge with excellent food just below the top floor. They change up the menu daily which was nice (a lot of other platinum lounges just have the same thing every day and it gets boring). The top floor has a restaurant and breakfast buffet which I loved! Tons of options and very clean. Service: excellent service and very one was so polite. They have umbrellas and a luggage scale at concierge desk for you to use. Layout: You do have to take multiple elevators to get to your hotel room but it wasn't too bad. One to get from the bottom level to the lobby then a short walk to the room elevators to get to your room. All of the rooms can be accessed by the lobby elevator which is nice (I've been to some Sweiss hotels where the top floors need to transfer elevators which can be annoying). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, I loved this hotel and I really have no complaints. Probably the best thing about it was the location. It was so central to everything. Although it is a walk to Dotonburi, it isn't that bad and to get there, you get to pass all of the awesome night markets. I would definitely stay here again coming back to Osaka.

Yelp
The best hotel to stay in if you're visiting Osaka! We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and were so happy that we booked this location. The service here is top notch! We booked directly and noted that we were celebrating an anniversary and they upgraded our room and left us chocolates and a sweet note. We also forwarded our luggage from Tokyo and our luggage was already waiting for us in our room when we arrived. We ended up shipping 2 bags to KIX towards the end of our stay and the concierge was extremely helpful. Huge plus that they spoke extremely fluent English too! The room itself was gorgeous. For Japan standards, the room was really large and comfortable. It had a bathtub, was fully stocked with amenities (including a Nespresso machine), and a large comfortable bed. We stayed on the 32nd floor and the views from our hotel room were so beautiful. My favorite part of this hotel was its convenience. It's attached to Namba station so from the moment you exit the hotel, you're right in the middle of all the action. There's arcades, shopping, so many delicious food options, Takashimaya (a huge department store with a whole floor dedicated to cheap & quality food), Dotonbori, and a huge Don Quijote within steps of the hotel! Also, if you're traveling to or from KIX international airport, this hotel is extremely convenient. It's literally attached to the train station that takes you directly to KIX. You just go up the elevator and bam, you're directly at the terminal that takes you to the airport. This was especially convenient with luggage! Overall, this was definitely one of my favorite hotels I stayed at in Japan. We'll definitely be booking here again the next time we're in Osaka!

Yelp
We stayed at Swissotel Nankai for 4 nights while in Osaka. The hotel was located above the Nankai Namba Railway Station making it super convenient to jump on the subway to go anywhere. Even though it was located above the subway station, we never heard any noises. Swisshotel is also a few minutes walk from Dontobori and Kuromon market. My husband and I were very impressed with the service at Swisshotel Nankai, the staff was super responsive and very helpful. I used the gym once during our stay and was pretty satisfied with it. They have many Life Fitness treadmills and a stairmaster. They have free weights and one weights machine if I remember correctly. The carpet in the hallway leading to the gym is split into 2 colors. You have to remove your shoes on one of the sides. If you're not sure, make sure to ask.

Yelp
I was very happy with my stay at the Swissotel Nankai. The staff at the front desk, concierge and housekeeping are very friendly and helpful. Majority are bilingual so communication is not an issue. Centrally located in Namba, above of the Nankai Namba Railway Station. You can take the shuttle bus, railway or taxi to / from Kansai Airport. It is quite a distance away so allow for an hour travel time. I took taxis for the convenience and the average fare was ¥23,000 ($125usd). For shopping, Takashimaya a large department store is located in the same complex. You're also minutes away from Dotonbori, Sennichimae and Shinsaibashi as well as many brand name stores. For dining, the hotel has a number of restaurants including the top floor (36th) for breakfast with a panoramic view overlooking the city. Of course there are many restaurants located outside of the hotel. Many are hidden gems that are "a hole in the wall". My room had a TV, coffee machine, iron and small refrigerator. The only amenity that was not provided was a hair dryer. The hotel is "nonsmoking" but there is a smoking room located in the lobby. I recommend and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
While the location of the hotel is perfect for being a base in Osaka, it felt very dated and far from being luxurious. Location you are right above Namba Station, but finding how to actually enter the hotel that is where you have to remember the right routes to get to it. The hotel is helpful to tell you what to follow but after a week you feel like a ninja finding all the hidden shortcuts to enter it. The rooms are western large which is great, but the furniture felt cheap. At least you get a decent view since you are on a high floor. The service was alright nothing extraordinary, and the lifts were very slow it felt out of the 8 they had there only 4 where ever running. Breakfast options were expensive when you can get some options downstairs for way cheaper and their both same quality. Overall the hotel is alright, clean, service fine, and centrally located, but it is not luxurious at all.

Yelp
Swissotel is a renowned hotel chain that is known for its luxury and impeccable service. A review of a Swissotel would highlight the exceptional experience that guests can expect during their stay. From the moment you step into the lobby, you are greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any requests. The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, providing a comfortable and relaxing environment. The amenities offered at a Swissotel are top-notch, including a fitness center, spa, and swimming pool. The dining options are also exceptional, with a variety of restaurants serving delicious cuisine from around the world. Whether you are traveling for business or leisure, a stay at a Swissotel is sure to exceed your expectations.

Yelp
Location is top notch, and service is great, but for a 5 star hotel, a lot left to be desired. This was second visit here and the location is the main selling point for me. Right above Namba Station, although it can be very confusing depending on which line you are coming from. We came via the Kintetsu Limited Express this time, and wow, it was really hard figuring out where to go. A bit easier from the regular subway lines for sure. The hotel is connected to several shopping centers as well, and even to the watch row at Takayama, which makes it super convenient. There's also access to a 7-11 just downstairs via the escalators from the coference area. Close to all the tourists attritions so if you want to be in the heart of it, this is the hotel to be. Stayed at a suite and our room offered a very nice view of the city. However, a few things about the room definitely need to be refreshed as the rooms have started to age a bit. AC didn't work well either no matter what temperature we tried to set it at. Our rate included breakfast, which is served at the restaurant at the top floor. While there's ton of offerings, nothing really stood out at the breakfast buffet. Seems like they were a bit understaffed too. Service, again, was great. Check in and check out was easy and simple. The bell desk interactions were great as well.

Yelp
Great location - can get to it directly in the Namba/Nankai train station. We were 3 in a room. We were told 3 twin beds, but one was a sofa bed, which was pretty well-used. Was told (after) that you can ask for a different mattress, so if you find yourself in the same situation, do ask. Rooms are fairly standard, not huge, but adequate. Bathroom was spacious & amenities were plentiful (bath salts, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair brushes, etc.). As well as a nice tea service/coffee pod machine in the room. Breakfast was the best we had during our 2 week stay/4 hotels in Japan. Do pre-pay as it's cheaper than adding it after you get there. Everything from great pastries, salmon sashimi, tasty miso soups, dumplings, fresh noodle soups, fantastic fruit choices, etc. The servers are also excellent & you can get lattes, mochas, etc. at no extra charge.

Yelp
Got a Jr Suite room for 9 days here. We've always stayed here because of the location to the subway station and the department store. Location is key because after a long day sightseeing, the last thing I want to do is fight the crowds on the subway AND in the streets to get back to my comfy room. Costs a little more for our room at this hotel because we pay for the Executive lounge, but it's totally worth it. The buffet breakfast is unreal, views are awesome, and...did I mention the location of this hotel in relation to a main subway station...or that it's located upstairs of Takashimaya, a huge department store? We love to go to the food floors and pick up all kinds of food stuffs to take back to the room for snacks.

Yelp
I stayed here over 50 times during my 75 trips to Japan and I always felt like it was a home away from home. Super convenient location, comfortable and well-appointed rooms, and exceptional service. I hope to visit again in the future.

Yelp
All I knew was that I was flying for 10 hours and then had to find our hotel after catching a rapid transit express train, so the hotel better be easy to find. Luckily, SWISSOTEL NAMBA NANKAI is in the TRAIN STATION so once we got off the train (and this was the end of the line for the rapid express) we just walked around the corner, down an escalator and eventually into the lobby of this hotel. SUPER CONVENIENT! The hotel is located close to Takashimaya, Dotonbori, pharmacies, restaurants, shops, walking distance to Kuromon (and you MUST go there, btw), close to pretty much everything in that area. We also stayed at Namba Oriental, which was also convenient, but for that very FIRST night when you land and take the train into Namba, THIS IS THE HOTEL YOU WANT TO STAY IN.

Yelp
The spacious room, a good selection of dining and bar options, a large gym and the swimming pool confirmed for me that the Swissotel was a great choice while visiting Osaka. Located in a vibrant area (just near the Namba station) the hotel is an excellent base from which to explore local delicacies, including Japan's notoriously small bars. Try Freedom Bar for great cocktails outside of the hotel. If shopping is your passion, the hotel is surrounded by a large mall. Look for the cross over at level five. I enjoyed this hotel because of its great customer service, the comfortable bed and the modern, fresh feel of the space.

Yelp
It's annoying to turn up at a hotel for the third or fourth time and have the person at the front desk ask "Is this your first time staying with us?" (Implement some CRM tools y'all.) When I returned to the Swisshotel Nankai Osaka, having not stayed at the property since 2014, they had record of it. And they welcomed me back. (It's the little things...) The hotel's location in Namba has direct access to tons of shopping, eating and a train station. I've stayed in various size rooms at the hotel and big or small they've all been clean and well-appointed. If you like a view, ask for it. I did and was placed on the 30th floor - small room, big view! Also remember to request a non-smoking room if you don't smoke. The Swisshotel is a particularly good choice if it's your first visit to Osaka as everyone knows where it is and there's so much to do right outside. Every staff member speaks English and will endeavor to help you, whatever your need. It's a solid, if slightly boring, hotel choice that you pretty much can't go wrong making.

Yelp
Great location above train station and walking distance to shopping and eating! Staff very friendly, beautiful lobby and clean room on the 24th floor with million dollar views!

Yelp
My wife booked this hotel on our trip to Japan and what can I say, simply outstanding! So conveniently located next to the subway station and right in the heart of all the Tokyo action! You can shop, shop, shop to you drop. Or eat, eat, eat until you pass out, lol! Easy to get to wherever you are going and the staff are very pleasant and friendly. Rooms are very clean and you can't beat having a bidget toilet when doing your thing.

Yelp
Best service, quality hotel and decent price! And best location for newbies to osaka!! This station is situated in the middle of all the main osaka action. It literally sits on top of a mini city of restaurants, shops and department stores and is directly across the fame dotonbori district. Not the mention the train stop is directly underneath the hotel! I will definitely stay here everytime i come back to osaka and i highly recommend this place to everyone. Just book early to get the best rates.

Yelp
Swisshotel Nankai Osaka: OK, I admit it. I went a little plush with our hotel choice in Osaka. Did I mention that I stayed in the bottom bunk of a six-bed room in a youth hostel in Galway, Ireland, three years ago (review: http://bit.ly/1OulrVR)? While I appreciate the respect afforded me as the most senior person in that crowded room, it's not an experience I wanted to repeat on any subsequent trips. That's my roundabout way of justifying the cost of $262 for a night at this luxury hotel with an ideal location close to Dotonbori and the main subway lines. Let me tell you something: it was worth every penny. Understand our idea of roughing it on our trip to Japan was having to sleep on a futon and getting up from a tatami in a gorgeous albeit compact ryokan the night before in Kyoto. I had booked a Double Advantage Room for Jamie W. and me, and it looked fairly standard from the photos on the website, but much to our delight, we were upgraded to the Junior Suite King on one of the Executive floors replete with a living area sofa and table (photo: http://bit.ly/1YHLCNL). We didn't ask why, but the helpful person at the front desk told us we should take advantage of the Swiss Executive Club Lounge on the floor above where they were providing complementary liquor. Needless to say, we moved faster than we ever have in dropping our luggage off in the suite and making a beeline to the lounge where we could take in the panoramic view of the bustling Namba area of Osaka while downing free Makers Marks (photo: http://bit.ly/1PrCOUn). Osaka never looked better to us when we staggered out into Dotonbori afterward, and we had never been before. Anyway, after a peaceful night's sleep in our luxurious suite, we made our way back to the lounge the following morning for our complementary breakfast which was an expansive buffet of American, European and Japanese delicacies. We actually could have had breakfast at their high-end Italian restaurant on the top floor, but we felt we were probably overusing our good karma as it was. In hindsight, it was a smart move on the hotel's part to upgrade us when there was an opening since I have nothing to share but praise about our accommodation there and certainly would not hesitate to book another Swissôtel should the opportunity arise again.

Yelp
The breakfast buffet on the 36th floor is my favorite breakfast buffet! And I don't even like breakfast most of the time. The service is fast and the food is delicious. I love their manned specials that change daily and would highly recommend this place for hotel and food.

Yelp
This was our last hotel of our trip in japan and SO glad it was!!! 1. It is conveniently located right in the subway station and shopping mall. We totally got lost like every time looking for it (or returning from our foot travels), but it's so easy to spot from afar. Also, there are a lot of signs indicating the hotel or you can just ask a kind security guard which way you should go. Lol! 2. It is also conveniently located near all the sights or just an elevator ride down to the station. We walked to Shinsaibashisuji and Dotonbori back and forth multiple times a day during our stay. 3. We got the Executive Room for $250 a night, which gave us access to a lot of amenities including the 33rd floor lounge for free breakfast, coffee/tea and snacks, happy hour, and post-happy hour (both of the latter w wine, beer, champagne, hard liquor, and snacks). Lovely view of Osaka from the lounge as well. The room itself was pretty standard and came w a lovely view. We have no complaints. The bed was comfy. They give you pajamas and slippers, as well as essential toiletries. The window also has a pull down shade so you can block out the sun (since the curtain is only a paper curtain). 4. Service and everything else was wonderful. The hotel is very clean. Also, idk if it's bc it's in the subway station and Namba Parks area, but the hotel is alive and bustling in the main lounge w people having meetings and whatnot, which just gave it a lovely impression that it was highly frequented (not in a bad way) and considered a safe, clean, and classy meeting spot.

Yelp
Pretty happy with our stay here. Great location, with a major train station (with access to the airport), shopping centre and epic food court adjacent. The rooms are majorly 90s in style, but clean. Excellent views. The main reason I booked this hotel was because it had a gym. When we arrived I asked about where the gym was and they said I hadn't booked a room with access to the gym. They said they'd upgrade our room for free so I could access the gym, so that was good. But there's no mention anywhere on their website that gym access is restricted and I have never heard about only certain rooms being allowed access to a gym at other hotels before. I would have been extremely disappointed if they hadn't given us access to the gym. I suggest they make it more obvious on their marketing materials that it's not available to all guests, or give all guests access like all the other hotels in the world.

Yelp
Absolutely best choice of place to stay in Osaka after a long international flight. Super impressed. Swisshotel Nankai Osaka is situated directly above Nankai Rail Station so no searching for your hotel once you get off the train - access to hotel is through special doors inside the terminal that will take you straight up to reception. Definitely not budget but so worth every penny. Everything is 5 star standard - from the look and feel of the hotel, the rooms and the level of service. Once you check-in, staff will assist you in taking your bags up to your room and then will show you all features of your room. They will try to cater to all your need and questions - it was 10:30PM by the time we checked in but all staff we still enthusiatic and friendly. Our room was a Superior Double - very nice veiw of Osaka from the 26th floor. Room size was decent, very clean and well kept. Breakfast buffet is available on the hotel's 39th floor - not cheap 3200 yen but very nice and you get a panoramic view of the city with your morning coffee. If in need of directions or advice go to Concierge Desk in Lobby - staff will try to help with anything you ask. Train timetables - directions to tourist attractions - prices of taxi fares to places from hotel. We even got them to help us print out tickets for Universal Studios Japan at 11pm! Another great thing is that you're above a main hub for the Osaka Metro lines - Namba Station and you're within walking distance to some of the main tourist areas. Only 5-10 minute walk to Shinsaibashi & Dotonbori. Connected to Takashimiya department store and across the road from Parks shopping complex. Overall we were super impressed with our stay - would stay again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
This hotel was a great place for the Osaka leg of our Japan trip. It's centrally located and we didn't even have to go outside from the train station. There is also a big department store in the same complex. The staff all spoke English, the room was big and spacious and clean, and the international breakfast buffet on the 36th floor gives you a 360 view of the entire city. The European feel of the hotel made you feel like you were actually in Europe and not Japan.

Yelp
Why would a person who LIVES in Osaka offer a hotel review? What can he possibly know about hotels in the city he resides? Well...I like staying in hotels. Also, given my line of business I have to know what hotels are crap and which are not. This is the best place to stay in Namba**. Close to Namba Parks and Namba City (shopping areas) and located RIGHT NEXT TO the train station. The staff and service are five(5) star. Great view of the surrounding area. This is the only Swissotel in Japan and it does not disappoint. **Please note that if you have business in downtown Osaka/Umeda, this hotel is NOT in downtown Osaka. Umeda and Namba are about fifteen(15) minutes from each other, by train..or a ten(10) minute taxi ride.

Yelp
I won't be staying anywhere else when in Osaka. The location is beyond perfect with tons to do. The hotel rooms are clean, quiet, and large. Staff is friendly, warm, and non-intrusive. Wi-Fi in your room is free. The view of Osaka is fabulous, and there isn't anything I could think of that would be a negative for this place. Ambience is warm and inviting in the lobby and is incredibly calming. Tip: On Hotwire.com, you can find "hidden hotels" in Osaka around the Namba area, and there are 2- you have a pretty good chance that one of those is Swissotel!

Yelp
To say that I was fortunate to stay at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka is an understatement. I have to say, out of all of the hotels that I have stayed at (due to my job, I truly have stayed at a lot), this place is top 1% in service for certain. Not only is the room extremely clean, the staff is truly helpful and caring. This Swissotel is located conveniently at the south entertainment region of Osaka and is directly above the Namba station. So you can take it to anywhere you want to go including attraction spots, such as Koya-san. Unfortunately, I caught some illness during the trip, but the Bell Desk of Swissotel absolutely went beyond their duty and helped me be as comfortable and taken care as possible including helping me find a local hospital and doctor. Their services truly is awe-inspiring and made me a fan of this hotel. I have decided that I will stay in this hotel in all future Osaka stays due to their professionalism and care. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The hotel is in a great location and is nice. My only complaint is we are still here going on our fifth day and our housekeeper hasn't dusted the entire time. I can write "clean me" with my finger on the desk and by coffee pot. I don't think they vacuum either. We don't want to be "those people " and complain and get someone in trouble. I know there's people with real problems in life.

Yelp
Lush, elegant and well-appointed. There's many reasons to love this hotel. I just wish my flight hadn't RUINED my chance to spend two nights there vs. the one night. It's probably the only time in my life I'd wish I could stay longer at a hotel. The breakfast spread should be given an award, all on its own. The view is unreal, the service is excellent and the food? Everything was fresh and super delicious. Oh, and Nespresso machines in the room? YES. It's really easy to get here from the KIX airport. We didn't struggle too much, even with the language barrier and jet lag. The rest of my family took a bus from ITM and said it was easy to navigate as well (and a short trip too). The woman who checked us in was also incredibly friendly. You'll love just about everything about this hotel.

Yelp
This is a great location! Right above the subway station and shopping mall. Within walking distance of many attractions including Sumo matches. Clean, comfortable beds and even a "pillow" menu. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
An excellent hotel. In the heart of Osaka and walking distance to restaurants shops and Dontonbori. The staff are all friendly and speak English. Rooms are clean and large and bathrooms for for a King. Was up on the Executive Club Floors and had use of the Executive club Lounge open 7am-10pm, serving breakfast snacks and open bar from 5:30pm.

Yelp
We liked that the hotel above the station. The room was a little small and tight. The proximity to Dotonburi was appreciated because we could enjoy many restaurants and other things to do. Concierge was helpful and gave us good information about Osaka and our travel to Kyoto. Hotel was going through remodel so there was some construction. Tourist information on 1st floor of Namba station good with help in Osaka and elsewhere. Only used the pool and hot tub one evening before it closed so really did not get to experience completely.

Yelp
Great view, great location, friendly staff. There's even a sports bar on the 10th floor that serves a fantastic burger (and has a decent happy hour, to boot.) Be aware, some floors have been more recently renovated than others. (Not all floors are equal..)

Yelp
From the airport this hotel is about a 45 minute train ride. The train is nice, not a commuter train, with plush seats and bathrooms. This hotel is the last stop on the train line which is a plus because you literally only have 60 seconds to off board on the previous stops. The hotel is about 25 stop away from the train. The entrance is in the train station. Also, there are food eateries at the train station as well as a Uniqlo store next to the hotel entrance. Staff here are excellent, very polite, AND THEY SPEAK ENGLISH!! Our room was clean (although some smelled like cigarette smoke) and there were two beds a little bigger than a twin bed side by side and a pull out sofa. All the TV stations are in Japanese but what do you expect? Plus we aren't here to watch TV. The bathrooms are nice. The tub is pretty deep, and the toilets are the Toto bidet style. I was a bit skeptical to use it but now I'm in love with Toto. Today is my third day here and it is fabulous. There is a shopping center right downstairs with lots of stores from coffee to ice cream to shoes to makeup to clothes. It's connected to the Namba Parks area. Lots of food places and there's an "arcade" which is a covered alleyway with lots of small stores and food places. The hotel also has an amazing breakfast buffet with American and Japanese food. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

Yelp
Great hotel in the heart of Osaka. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and good gym. Literally on top of Namba station so easy access to trains and subway. Thousands of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby.

Yelp
was only at the Swissotel for a one-night stay but it was a memorable one! had previously emailed the hotel for directions on how to get there since i was coming in from the shinkansen. the detailed directions were spot on and it was so easy to find the hotel. didnt get lost once! we did arrive before check-in time and the staff was so apologetic that we had to wait 10 minutes for our room to be cleaned when it wasn't even their fault in the first place since i was the one that was early! haha...then at check-in, was told that i was upgraded to a junior suite for my honeymoon and that meant free access to the spa, pool, and executive lounge which meant free breakfast, drinks, and snacks! already off to a good start :) the room itself was very large, clean, and seemed recently upgraded. complimentary bottled water was a nice touch as well. staff was definitely top notch here! location was just as good too. explored on foot all over the dotonbori area of Osaka but there was also easy train access for us to head to Kyoto the next day too. also really impressed with the hotel breakfast - quiche, potatoes, bacon, sausage, miso soup, rice - good mix of both american and japanese food. overall i would definitely say at the Swissotel if i ever am lucky enough to be back in Osaka - staff, location, quality of room - its all great!
