Switchyards Cabbagetown is in a great location, and I appreciate that there’s some off-street parking depending on the time of day. The space itself has a cozy, coffee shop vibe—which can be a pro or con depending on what kind of work environment you’re looking for.
Unfortunately, the music is a real challenge. Even with noise-canceling headphones, it’s tough to focus when the volume is consistently that high. It feels more like a playlist for a bustling café than a space designed for deep work. I understand the desire to create a certain ambiance, but I wish there were more consideration for those trying to concentrate. The fact that this has been mentioned in other reviews and still hasn’t changed is beyond frustrating.
The quiet zone helps, but the seating isn’t ideal for long work sessions. Ironically, the most comfortable spots are in the main area, where the music is loudest.
As someone who loves coffee, I must mention it was a letdown. It’s a big part of the experience for me, and I’ve found it overrated—probably one of the weaker aspects of the space. On the bright side, the tea is much better.
Until the music improves, it may not be the best fit for those needing a quieter, more focused environment.
