Yelp
Syd's Bagelry and Espresso Ratings: 3.8/5
Food: 3.75/5 - My boyfriend and I was visiting Lake Tahoe, and I wanted some coffee really bad, so we stumbled across this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. The reviews aren't as good, but we thought the drinks were okay, especially when there's limited places in Tahoe City. See the descriptions of the drinks we got.
- White Mocha [GET]: This was surprisingly good. There was two espresso shots in this drinks, but you can't really taste the bitterness of it. The sweetness of the white mocha really balance out the coffee flavor. Definitely tasted more like a holiday drink on a cold day in Tahoe. It is a great choice for people that don't usually coffee as often, which is my boyfriend.
- Latte [SKIP]: Nice and easy to drink latte with a good consistency on the milk foam. It's smooth and tasty. I just wished the coffee was stronger, feel like it was slightly watered down. Again, the coffee flavor wasn't too strong, so if you are an coffee addict like me, this is probably not the drink for you. It just taste like straight up hot, steamy milk.
Ambiance: 3.75/5 - An interesting and cute hole-in-the-wall coffee shop in Tahoe City. It is kind of like walking into a lodge, feeling cozy and interior is decorated in a charming and an antique way, but there's a lot going on. This is the spot for your quick bite to-go breakfast and lunch food. I see many visitors here, and they are all here for a quick stop and food, however it was surprisingly a lot quieter than I expected. I also see some locals working at the shop, so I assume there's free WIFI.
Price: 3.75/5 - The two coffee drinks cost almost $10 for a small size. The latte was $4.65 and the white mocha was around $4.25. I definitely had better coffee in SF and NYC for a similar price, so I wouldn't say it was that worth it for the quality and size given.
Service: 4/5 - The employees there are friendly and accommodating. It seems like a local mom-and-pop shop. The staffs in the front were like teenagers and there are older age staffs bringing out the food. The staff that took my order provided some great suggestions for my boyfriend. He was happy with the white mocha as his recommendation. Overall, pretty solid experience.
BLUF: Great spot for a quick bite, caffeine run, a pit stop, or a quick rest stop on the road in Tahoe, but not a foodie destination. I'd say the coffee here are standard and average, nothing too special about it, but gets the work done if you order the right thing. I recommend stopping by to support local shops if you are in the area.
