Great bagels here! They were freshly made and yummy for breakfast. The girl at the counter was SO friendly and we received excellent customer service. So sorry that I’ve forgotten her name but she’s from Brazil and was amazing and chipper, making us feel welcomed! The coffee was not as good as the bagels but recommend coming here for sure! You can walk off the bagels by the lake trail just in front!

Google
Great sandwich for a great price. Had to go here twice to grab some sandwiches for my boat trip. The food was yummy and all my friends enjoyed it. They may have burnt my bagel a bit but still was good. The service was pretty quick and very friendly staff. The mango smoothie was also pretty good and the coffee not bad at all. Also I’m not sure what the name of the cucumber bagel was but my friend described as something he’s never had and really liked its complex flavor. Definitely check this place out!

Google
The place was busy on Friday morning of Labor Day weekend, around 10:45, but the wait was only about 5 minutes before I placed my order. I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich on a Jalapeno Cheese bagel. The food took less than 10 minutes before my name was called. The sandwich comes with 2 eggs cooked over-hard and plenty of melty cheddar cheese. The eggs were slightly more done than I usually prefer, but they were still tasty and easier to eat than a runny yolk might have been. While the sandwich was a bit dry for my taste, I think adding butter or cream cheese next time would be perfect. Although I didn't try any drinks, they looked fantastic as they came out. The back room and patio offer stunning views of Lake Tahoe, making it an ideal spot for a quick breakfast or lunch. If I could, I’d rate it 4.5 stars, but I’m rounding up to 5 because the overall experience was solid and enjoyable.

Google
Lovely place to have a morning 🌄 coffee! Beautiful view of lake and very nicely decorated coffee shop, you wouldn't get bored waiting for your order to ready, since it's a busy one. We liked the place!

Google
Great spot!! Can be a little crowded around lunch time but they’re efficient and serve delicious bagels and tasty coffees. Also tried the coffee cake and it was a good one! Loved the aesthetic inside, lots of things to look at (: Reasonable pricing, would totally recommend!

Google
Great food, bad coffee. Enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and the salmon bagel was awesome. Lovely space inside. Smoothies were fantastic also. Let down by the coffee, tried over two days and was same both times, very bitter and tasted almost burnt. Must be choice of beans, as milk was silky and poured nicely. Quick service around 8am in March.

Google
Incredibly rude service. We ordered coffee and food, then started working on our laptops. Only after ordering were we told there was a one-hour limit—even though the cafe was nowhere near full. Then, just 40 minutes later, the employee (the older lady who is mentioned in many other one star reviews) aggressively tapped on the wall in front of us and said, “Time to leave.” No courtesy, no professionalism, horrible experience despite the good coffee and food!

Google
Literal store-bought bagels are honestly better than these. Anyone who has said these are the best bagels has never had a decent bagel. I would say these are below decent if store-bought ones are better. My cappuccino’s coffee was also burnt. I cannot speak on any other food because I didn’t have it, but this place is advertised as a bagelery, so I expect good bagels. Though my mom’s coffee was decent and tasted good. the inside is cute and nicely decorated. Next time, I’ll toast my own bagel and not waste money coming here.

Yelp
Super excited to stop by and try the signature bagel! My lox bagel was perfect, fresh, and tasty! Like the cute decor and cool vibes! The service is fast and the staff are friendly and efficient. Idk why there is only 3.5 Yelp Star. This place deserves a solid 5 star from me.

Yelp
We visited Syd's Bagelery & Espresso two days in a row, purely out of convenience. Finding street parking was easy and I loved the cozy vibe inside - lots of wooden furniture and music-related decor. They also had flags from all over the world hanging from the ceiling, signed by patrons visiting from those countries. I ordered the The Lox on an Everything Bagel, which was pretty tasty. I liked that the bagel was served open-face, so each side had salmon, cream cheese, onion, tomato, and capers. Very filling! I tried a sip of my friend's Strawberry Fields smoothie, which was also pretty good. Service was friendly, but not the fastest. The next day, my friends returned for another breakfast/coffee run. Unfortunately, this took longer than expected because the staff forgot about their Breakfast Burritos. However, they did throw in a bunch of free pastries to make up for it, which was a sweet gesture. I got an Iced Blackberry Lavender Latte, and it was fantastic. It definitely needed an extra shot of espresso in it (which I got), but the flavors were delicious. The free pasties were also very good, especially the Chocolate Chip Cookie! The Breakfast Burritos, however, were just okay. Overall, a decent option for breakfast/coffee, if you're not in a rush!

Yelp
Does anyone else think it odd you need to wait for 6 bagels to go not toasted to go in order after cooked food? I mean, cashier just leaning on the register, can she not grab and bag them? Not a place you can just run in grab and go your bagels. Also, very small selection for before 9am, usually you would see a plain bagel that's not gluten-free available at any time.
google avatar

Yelp
I got the Uncle Nate's breakfast BLT. The look of the sandwich was great, but the sourdough bread was pretty soggy to be honest. Ambiance was really cool and had a home town feeling. Service was okay

Yelp
This place is so cute and quaint! The decor on the walls is so cool with lots of pictures from historic concerts and music acts. The coffee and bagels were also great - it was fast too which was good as we were on the way to the ski hill for opening. They did get my husband's order wrong and we didn't realize it until we got to the car but the servers were lovely while we were in the cafe so I'm sure they would have changed it if we went back but he wasn't phased about it. Great breakfast spot!

Yelp
Very comfy inside. There are flags from all over the world with which you can sign on! Very quiet and lots of seating inside and outside. The people at the counter seemed very tired. That or they were uncomfortable with us (BIPOC) being there 8/10 blackberry lavender with mocha latte. You can def taste the lavender in this one. The mocha is very subtle but I think it helps make the lavender taste stronger! Enjoyable. 5/10 lavender latte. Lavender taste isn't as strong in this one. 5/10 breakfast burrito. Thought there would be some bacon in it. Basic burrito with cheese, egg, and potato. 2/10 avocado toast. Looks like it's just smeared avocado with thyme. Nothing special. Definitely not worth $7.25

Yelp
Cute cafe/bagel sandwich shop in downtown tahoe city. The joint is packed with weekend skiers and a few locals, and is bustling and fun but still a good spot to work for a few hours. I loved the salmon bagel sandwich special with pickled onions and jalapeño cream cheese! Only a few outlets, so if you are here to work keep that in mind. The cafe au lait wasn't my favorite, but all in all a lovely spot.

Yelp
Very tasty! We are always looking for new places to grab lunch in the Tahoe area and we took a stab here today. My wife and I both got chicken wraps that were reasonably priced, very fresh, and quite delicious. The service is order at the counter and was quick and easy. Lots of different seating options some outside and lots inside. Enjoy views of the lake while you eat your food.

Yelp
I come here every time I'm in tahoe either winter or summer. Their coffee is good and their menu is diverse and has tons of vegetarian options. Bagels are fantastic so are their burritos. Location is THE BEST. Right on the lake so gorgeous views. Inside is so cute and eclectic and cozy. Staff is awesome.
google avatar

Yelp
Bagels were good, nothing special. Coffee and smoothie were delicious! Looked like there were some other good pastry items we didn't try. Cute little shop with fun decorations. Staff was friendly and overall service was great.

Yelp
I popped in after seeing someone else with a green smoothie and wanting one for myself. I ordered the mango smoothie and added spinach. I got a cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted with cream cheese for my daughter to go. It happened to be gluten free option of the day. My name was called that the order was ready. Once I went to the counter there wasn't a way to know which was mine. So, I grabbed what looked like a bagel. Then continued to wait for my smoothie. My name was later called again and I heard someone else asking about their order. I said to the employee there " I guess I grabbed their order by mistake." They responded with a snarky "I guess you did." It was an odd exchange. But after reading the other reviews it sounds consistent with others experiences. The food and smoothie were good and options nearby for quick serve seem limited. If you are looking for a quick bite this place will probably be your option.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop to stop at. I regret not getting a bagel. The banana loaf and ice latte is delicious. Staff were friendly and service was quick but the line filled up quick.

Yelp
Stopped by when we were in Tahoe and we wanted some coffee. The shop was super cozy and had cool decorations throughout. It was fairly busy and cramped. We got some coffee, cookies, and fruit smoothies. We loved the smoothies the most. The staff were very friendly and checked on our group which was nice. It's a great location by the lake and will stop by next time we're in town.

Yelp
Great place to stop and grab a Latte They offer a wide variety of options Service was quick and friendly Very busy at the time of visit Not much room to sit with a large group inside but the do offer sitting outside Fair prices

Yelp
Good bagel for Lake Tahoe. Fast service and friendly staff. I would recommend it for people missing their morning bagel on vacation.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was fast. I got a lavendar latte and it was delicious. There were plenty of seating inside and outside. We decided to take our breakfast to the outside benches while overlooking the lake. It was great!

Yelp
When a breakfast spot or coffee shop has a soul and personality its an instant win in my book. That's what this place was. Quirky decor which highly entertained our son and we appreciated its character and flair. All we got were coffee drinks but man they were good. A red eye for my husband and a latte with oat milk for me. The perfect ratio of coffee to milk and foamed at the top o so nice. The 16 oz latte was only 25 cents more than the 12 oz one. So why not right? That may have been the case for most drinks actually. Wish I could eat bagels or the baked goods because I imagine they were fantastic. Lots of other fun drink options on the menu as well such as black lavender tea. I was intrigued by that. We'd be back for sure next time we're in the area!

Yelp
Stopped in after we rented gear from Tahoe Dave's but before we were about to hit the slopes. This place really fit the bill! We were in desperate need of caffeine and a little breakfast and lo and behold, just next door to the shop! I got a Black Lavender Latte- I almost said "YES!" before the barista could even finish telling me what was in it; blackberry syrup and lavender plus I added oatmilk. There were plenty of vegan options here, and it reminded me of Macy's Bakery in downtown Flagstaff (for all my AZ natives). They also had a basket of day-old baked goods for $0.75- perfect to grab and go for your snowventures!

Yelp
Super confusing experience... first of all, these are definitely Thomas bagels. Just go to Safeway. We were a group of 4 buying for 8 people. They limited us at 6 bagels which in hindsight we could have ordered separately and each gotten 2 and had no problem. The business model makes zero sense. We also ordered two 8 oz tubs of cream cheese, one plain and one veggie, and they had no issue with it. When our order was called they only included one tub of plain. When I asked about the other tub they said we couldn't have it but they could refund it. I told them that wouldn't really work so they gave me another tub of plain which would have been no problem if they said that from the start. If selling bagels to your customers isn't your thing, just remove it from your name and sell coffee and smoothies. $80 later this was the oddest experience I've had in while.

Yelp
I love the mama Mia with sprouts. It's been my favorite there for decades. Their bagels are tasty and so many options be it a burrito, sandwich, bagel or coffee breads. Enjoy this awesome spot

Yelp
Yum! Love the food and drinks here, and love supporting locals. Interior is fun and homey but could be maintained a tad bit better in order to be brighter. Check it out!

Yelp
In short: Would give 3.5 stars if I could Decent food - not bad, not great Friendly employees Drinks and food came out pretty quick Long version lol: My boyfriend found this place on a whim, after The Dam cafe that we were headed to was closed for the day due to a water issue. The employees were nice, helped the bf figure out what was the closest to a Starbucks caramel macchiato and gave me info on whether the breakfast burrito would keep for later. I ordered an americano with half and half and whipped cream. They delivered cream and whipped cream can to the table. I got the breakfast burrito, which had eggs, potatoes, cheddar, fresh pico with jalapeño and a bit of black beans and corn. Even though I loved how cheesy it was and the fresh pico, it was mostly egg and needed more potatoes. I could have used some more salt or hot sauce which I didn't see until after I was finished eating My man got the breakfast sandwich, which was just choice of bagel cheese and egg, no meat? He said it wasn't as good as Noah's. He also got a caramel latte which he loved! I tasted a sip and it wasn't too sweet and nice creamy foam All and all good for a quick bite if on the road But not a foodie destination.

Yelp
Got an iced white mocha with hazelnut and it was very very good. Place is clean & very cute, nice place to relax and hang out. The woman helping us at the register was very nice. Love this place. Prices are also incredibly reasonable & not overpriced.

Yelp
Hot damn! One of the best BEC (bacon egg cheese) sa do's I have had in a while...bacon was crisp, eggs cooked just right with a bit of S&P and the cheese melted perfectly. On a fresh multi grain bagel.... Tough to beat, especially when you can take your boat there at 8am! Thanks
google avatar

Alexandra S.

Yelp
Wonderful espresso, but my 'traditional' macchiato was around 6 oz (give or take) and boiling hot. Once it cooled & I got to taste it, the espresso was great but the milk to espresso ratio was more like a cappuccino.
google avatar

June F.

Yelp
Came here and Sara made me a delicious vanilla latte And tropical smoothie with pineapple and mango. They were really good but my bagel with lox was amazing! Love this cute place. Sat outside in the sun and really enjoyed the moment and the bagel and all!

Yelp
What happened to Syd's bagels!? We've been going to Tahoe City forever and always stop at Syd's for bagels to take home. They used to have fresh, chewy bagels. Yesterday we were sold gummy, pre-sliced yucky bagels, like the kind you get at the store in a bag. So disappointed when we got home.
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
3-4 stars is about right. The location is walking distance from almost anywhere in Tahoe City. It also has lake views out back. The bagel was good, the coffee was avg. I was put off by the poor attitude of the worker at the counter and answering the phones. He seemed annoyed when I tried to call in my order? Weird. The owner was nice though. It's a good spot for a quick bite and caffeine.

Yelp
Syd's Bagelry and Espresso Ratings: 3.8/5 Food: 3.75/5 - My boyfriend and I was visiting Lake Tahoe, and I wanted some coffee really bad, so we stumbled across this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. The reviews aren't as good, but we thought the drinks were okay, especially when there's limited places in Tahoe City. See the descriptions of the drinks we got. - White Mocha [GET]: This was surprisingly good. There was two espresso shots in this drinks, but you can't really taste the bitterness of it. The sweetness of the white mocha really balance out the coffee flavor. Definitely tasted more like a holiday drink on a cold day in Tahoe. It is a great choice for people that don't usually coffee as often, which is my boyfriend. - Latte [SKIP]: Nice and easy to drink latte with a good consistency on the milk foam. It's smooth and tasty. I just wished the coffee was stronger, feel like it was slightly watered down. Again, the coffee flavor wasn't too strong, so if you are an coffee addict like me, this is probably not the drink for you. It just taste like straight up hot, steamy milk. Ambiance: 3.75/5 - An interesting and cute hole-in-the-wall coffee shop in Tahoe City. It is kind of like walking into a lodge, feeling cozy and interior is decorated in a charming and an antique way, but there's a lot going on. This is the spot for your quick bite to-go breakfast and lunch food. I see many visitors here, and they are all here for a quick stop and food, however it was surprisingly a lot quieter than I expected. I also see some locals working at the shop, so I assume there's free WIFI. Price: 3.75/5 - The two coffee drinks cost almost $10 for a small size. The latte was $4.65 and the white mocha was around $4.25. I definitely had better coffee in SF and NYC for a similar price, so I wouldn't say it was that worth it for the quality and size given. Service: 4/5 - The employees there are friendly and accommodating. It seems like a local mom-and-pop shop. The staffs in the front were like teenagers and there are older age staffs bringing out the food. The staff that took my order provided some great suggestions for my boyfriend. He was happy with the white mocha as his recommendation. Overall, pretty solid experience. BLUF: Great spot for a quick bite, caffeine run, a pit stop, or a quick rest stop on the road in Tahoe, but not a foodie destination. I'd say the coffee here are standard and average, nothing too special about it, but gets the work done if you order the right thing. I recommend stopping by to support local shops if you are in the area.

Yelp
Great bagel sandwiches! I had the smoked salmon special sandwich, with jalapeño cream cheese. Fun place to stop for coffee and sandwiches. Great atmosphere and view of the lake!

Yelp
I went here to work a couple of times. This place has a nice seating area to work for a little bit. Great smoothies.

Yelp
I give 2 stars because they really do have good breakfast sandwiches, but it's always always served up with disrespectful, contemptuous and lazy service. Intentional avoidance of eye contact. Never a "hello", "be right with you" or any type of greeting, even if you walk up to the counter and no other customers there... Instead it's deliberate avoidance of eye contact. This morning I walked up with no customers in line to order. The man with angry look in his face and the girl tha looks like she hates being there were 3 feet away. Neither would look at me. I tried to be patient as they walked around behind the counter lookin busy with nobody in front of me or waiting for an order. Eventually I sat on a stool right in front of the counter while waiting. Then some lady walks right up to the counter and cuts in front of me. I don't blame her because she obviously muse have assumed I was waiting *for* my order rather than waiting to be acknowledged. The man with a scowl on his face went right up and helped the lady, yet still would not make eye contact or acknowledge me right behind her, where I'd been waiting for at least the past ten minutes. Finally I flagged down the girl behind the counter that seems to hate working there. Before I opened ky mouth to order I changed my mind and went to The Damn Cafe, where they ALWAYS acknowledge their customers, as well as show them basic decency and respect.. It's unfortunate that they make such good breakfast sandwiches/burritos but s don't seem to think that basic respect for customers is a requirement in the food service industry.

Yelp
Came in for just a drip coffee and work for a few hours. Both the guys behind the counter were really nice, one who seemed like the owner was very gracious when I told him how delicious the coffee was, a Colombian roast that was still bright with hints of cranberry. He said they make a point to brew Hub roasters even though it's expensive. My cup was only $2.75. This is how drip should be, but to know it was high quality to boot and it tasted so good. They played classic rock all morning and the volume was perfect, low, until 11, and then it got too loud and I decided to leave. Still I'll make a point to come back for this coffee.

Yelp
Very cute and cozy coffee shop in Tahoe City. We got Lox bagel and some coffee. Loved the music, staff was great.

Yelp
Best cinnamon roll I've ever had, nice view of the lake as well! If I lived close I'd probably come here weekly for a cinnamon roll.

Yelp
I'm going to be dreaming about the Mama Mia bagel for a while- how have I never had sun dried tomato pesto cream cheese before??? I'll never turn back, this cream cheese was out of this world. This spot is perfect walking distance from most spots in town, and is right next to tons of outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the lake. It was packed when we got here, but our coffee was up in just a few minutes! They told us it would be a 30 minute wait for food but it only ended up being around 15 which wasn't bad at all! The breakfast burrito was huge and delicious, and the pastry's all looked so tempting. The workers behind the counter were very kind and had a great attitude even with being so slammed and I really appreciated that! This will definitely be our go to breakfast spot when we're in town. Can't wait to come back!!

Mikayla M.

Yelp
To say the elder woman working the counter was rude would be an understatement. Bagels are grocery store bought. Coffee average. Long wait. Terrible customer service. Do not recommend if you're looking for an authentic bagel shop.

Yelp
Stopped by Syd's two times on our recent trip to Tahoe City. Super convenient location near Tahoe Dave's rental shop and also near the lakeside walking trails. Nice menu includes breakfast, lunch, bagels and typical coffee shop goodies. They've nicely put outdoor tables on the back lakeside area so it was lovely to take in the view of snowy Lake Tahoe.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have been in town for the past few days and both of us love coffee shops. Saw this one while walking by and decided to give it a try. We've been back everyday since. The vibe is mellow and kind of reminds me of a diner. The food was delicious - the bagels were done to the right crispness and the smoothies are tasty. My boyfriend has gotten the lox everyday and loved it. I've gotten a couple of different things. FYI - someone commented on the mama Mia bagel only have cream cheese and cucumbers ...After I got the bagel I was also confused, but once I reread the menu I discovered that the sun dried tomato pesto is the cream cheese flavor, there aren't actually any sun dried tomatoes on it. I was kind of sad but also it was because I wasn't paying attention that... Anyways - definitely recommend!

Yelp
Cute place on the lake, indoor and outdoor seating. Gluten and dairy free options. The iced Blackberry lavender latte is amazing. Our dog got a pup cup too

Yelp
Very cool inside, and a great view outside. Great coffee choices and light to medium size breakfast. From smoothies to breakfast burritos. Delicious food. I'll be back!

Yelp
We were so excited 2 years later to be able to bring our daughter to Syd's. We knew she would love it! This is a definite must if you are passing through Tahoe City. The atmosphere is so fun! Excellent menu choices and of course they will create just about anything! The food is delicious! The cappuccino perfect! Hard to do! I know I was a barista for 13 years! Fun and hip! A must do!
google avatar

Yelp
Have been coming here since I was a kid. Some of the best bagels out of any place I've been. Always feel satisfied with my order. The smoothies are perfectly icy and tasteful. The bagels and the spreads they offer are amazing. It does get busy and takes some time for the bagel but it is worth it. Sweet workers. One of them remade our drink to triple ensure that it was almond milk instead of regular milk for my lactose intolerant friend. Will always come back!

Yelp
Highlights: - very cozy ambience - right next to the lake - ok street parking (at least when I went. Or you could park at the Safeway parking lot that's 5min walk way) - ok wifi Not so good: - none of the outlets work! I went to the cafe for a casual day of reading when my friends went for a second day of skiing. The cafe is nice and warm, with plenty of food and drink options. The staff are very chill with people like me who sit there for a few hours without ordering much, which is pretty nice :) however I wouldn't recommend this place for work if you happen to be paged/emailed during holiday, as none of the outlets worked for me. Hopefully they'll fix it in the future

Tina T.

Yelp
I had a breakfast sandwich and an iced tea. It tasted great and the service was wonderful. Located right by the water. I would definitely go again.
google avatar

Jie C.

Yelp
We had breakfast here two days in a row. I love inspecting their decorations, deciphering their messages. Bagel with everthing is so tasty, so does BLT. Best fuel for a slope day!
google avatar

Bridget K.

Yelp
Gluten free bagels? Yes please!! They only had plain available when I came in, but I was thrilled to have a gluten free option. Whole wheat and everything bagels are also offered gluten free when they have them. I went with the Mama Mia toppings (Sun dried tomato cream cheese, cucumbers and oregano seasoning). It was so refreshing and delicious. I had never had cucumbers on a bagel before and it's something I would eat over and over again. The inside is small but there's lots of seating options outside at small tables or sitting on a beach overlooking the water. Nothing beats the incredible view.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
If I could leave this place zero stars, I would. Be warned, this bagel store has a bagel limit. You can only buy 6 bagels max and 2 of each flavor due to their "bagel shortage". I went to pick up bagels for my family of 8 and they refused to sell me 8 bagels. So if you wanted 6 bagels of the same flavor they probably wouldn't sell them to you. I couldn't exactly purchase bagels for half of the family so I had to leave. It was the most ridiculous situation I had ever experienced. Terrible customer service.
