Syia hotel is a lovely hotel. Above all, the owner is the perfect host and all his recommendations were very helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The location is convenient, very close to the sea and restaurants. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.

Just going to leave this place, Markos and hotel a review even before we have left. We are on day 2 of 3 of our stay.
Markos most excellent host. Wonderful communications. A beautiful family hotel run by lovely humans.
Impeccably clean room and clean bathroom.
The quality of everything is just so perfect. So spacious. Exactly what’s required for a hot summer stay. No frills. Everything done correct.
Sougia is such a beautiful little village and I’m so happy to be here.
You will not regret choosing to stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at Syia Hotel! The rooms were very comfortable and to our full satisfaction. Highlight was the balcony on which we enjoyed some beers after coming to our room. The rooms were perfectly clean and taken care of. In sum, we didn’t miss a thing and will definitely come back!

An absolute gem! The host, Markos, was gracious, charming, and welcoming and immediately made us feel at home. The hotel grounds were pristine and well manicured. The rooms were spacious, AC was included, shuttered windows allowed for absolute darkness inside, and the location was serenely quiet. Breakfast included freshly fried eggs, cooked ham, cheeses, deli meats, yogurt, fruits, nuts and more. Miss it already.

All the nice comments on here are true!!! Usually I do not write comments about the places I visited but this one really deserves to have one.
A perfect spot to spend vacation. Highly recomended!!!
The rooms are spaceous, comffortable and clean, equipted with all the necceseties you might be needing. The place is quiet and calm! The place is located 1-2 min walk from the beach and all the tavernas and yet you do not get commotion of it. The hotel is super well kept and looks like new.
The owners are very hospitable, reachable and goes a step further with advices or other things one might be needing during the stay. They even aranged us a lift to Irini gorge so we did not need to get up early for the regular bus.
Highly reccomended place!!!
Thank you for having us!!!

Marcos is the manager of the Syia Hotel in Sougia, Crete. His warm personality surrounds you as he anticipates every need to ensure a memorable trip. We were on a self-guided hiking trip, and Marcos gave us great tips to avoid the crowds at Samaria Gorge. He is an interesting conversationalist, and we had many diverse talks with him. He arranged for another couple from the hotel to share a cab with us to the Irini Gorge, thereby saving us many Euros. Finally, when we left on our last day, he called our cab and noted that we had left some medication behind. I told him we just couldn’t stand to leave him! The rooms are large, the patios comfortable, and the kitchen fully stocked. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst completing a self guided multi day trek in west Crete (organised by Petassos Travel). Put simply it really was an excellent hotel with very spacious, comfortable rooms and the owners made us feel so welcome. The rooms also had facilities for some self catering and the breakfast provided was also lovely which was consumed in a very relaxing environment outside in the patio area. Sougia is a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful unspoilt part of the island and the owner was always available for advise on any aspect of the area. We are residents of the UK and would love to return to this part of Crete and would not hesitate in staying at the Syia Hotel again.
