Sylvan Beach Park

update: 5/21, both sides of the beach are now open. the pier is still damaged and closed off. I visited here 5/14/25. As of right now: • The right side of the beach is closed off but the picnic tables are open to sit at. This side of the beach is nice if you want quiet. I sat at a picnic table, shaded, and read a book with nothing but the sound of the waves and seagulls in my ear. • The pier is damaged and thus, closed. • The left side of the beach is open. The sandy area is pretty small but you if you can find a spot, you can place a beach blanket or chair and relax or swim. I didn’t get in the water so i can’t speak of the temperature or depth. There are shaded and unshaded picnic tables on this side as well. • You can fish from the sidewalk on either side of the pier. Overall, a nice place to get away and relax and/or swim. I like it here. bathrooms are clean too quick is a rare plus.

Sylvan Beach is such a peaceful and lovely spot to unwind. It was clean and well-maintained, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the water. I appreciated the convenience of public bathrooms and how easy it was to find parking—definitely a plus! Whether you’re just passing through or planning a calm beach day, Sylvan Beach is worth a visit.

The pier was damaged in a hurricane and has not yet been rebuilt. Once it's rebuilt, I suspect it will be much better for fishing and will deserve a 5-star review, but with no pier... 3 stars for now. Fix the pier, then we'll reevaluate. Fishing is available from the shore. Bait and tackle shop was open when i arrived at 7:00 on Sunday morning. I don't know what time it opened. Many people were catching many different species of fish. I caught one trout. I enjoyed it and will be going back to fish there again soon.

Spacious peaceful perfect for couples and family for all over fun. The lifeguards are helpful and watchful.

A beautiful place to go watch the sunrise. Beach was VERY clean. I'm from NY so ocean beach sunrises are my favourite thing to do. So peaceful and relaxing.

Really enjoyed this beach over the weekend....it was pretty busy! But I love being next to the water.

I went fishing there last weekend, and unluckily it was crowded with swimmers and the pier was closed. I'd give it 2 stars because of the pier issue. You can fish from the shore, but it was packed when I arrived (it was 6 pm). If you want peace and quiet, don't go when it's the end of the school cycle.

The boat ramp there is nice. Plenty of space to launch. Get there really early if you need live shrimp.
