Sylvia's Pupusería

I was craving pupusas and I was in the area and decided to stop by. I ordered the mixed and spinach and they were amazing. The salad water was delicious and had a second cup. For desert I ordered fried plantains and plantains desert with cream. Everything was delicious and I was amazed that this place which was non descriptive could produce such quality food.

Food is tasty if you like Salvadorian. Food have not tried all the dishes but popusas are delicious 😋

We chose this restaurant based on location because we were en route somewhere and this was a delicious hidden gem! So glad we got to taste these pupusas and the red burrito was a smash!

Really this is what I got!!! Wow I should’ve checked my order before leaving this place. People please if you’re ordering for takeout check your order before leaving. 🙄🤦‍♀️

I'd add a photo, but the food was out so quickly and looked so delicious that I just forgot. Very sweet cashier. Food was great and authentic. Maybe a little on the pricier side but still acceptable. I work in the area and would definitely come back!

I’ve been here on separate occasions hoping the first, the second, third even the fourth time would get better. Food took 35 min and it wasn’t busy. There’s only one lady in the back and if they know they’ll get online or mobile or people coming in they should be better prepared. A new system needs to be in place for this restaurant. That’s the most I’ve waited for food in a non busy non crazy clientele. I tried to give in handful of chances now. Food is not wow and just mediocre. I got pupusas, a chicken burrito and the burrito was such a disappointment. It had no flavor. The pupusas were better than the last times I’ve had them but overall the blandness of the food just left me disappointed yet again. I’m officially done giving it another chance.

This place has been around for years, locals love it, and the reason has been for the delicious food. Upfront, it is pricey (for them to stay in business since it's a mom and pop shop) but definitely worth it because they don't cut corners with the food quality. Most customers take thier food to go, but regular customers will dine in for the authentic salvadorian style restaurant atmosphere. The place is well kept considering the surrounding neighborhood. Overall, recommended the pupusas, can't go wrong.

Delicious pupusas. The servers are great and professional. The inside is spacious and inviting. Great to have get togethers. Highly recommend.

The food is very delicious it had a little bit of everything and filled me up for breakfast. and service was awesome. I would recommend to anybody.

DO NOT ORDER HERE NOR EAT IN HOUSE!!! The place is filthy. The owner Sylvia is a complete b**** and is rude whenever she has a bad day which is often. The many times I've ordered the pupusas insides are not even enough to fill anyone and are always undercooked. And yet she raised the prices on them. The wait time is stupid even if you ordered your food over the phone. If you want a better pupusa and you are in the area, there is a couple that have a stand on 52nd st. And Avalon in front of a market. They are better portioned and the wait time isn't crazy at. AND the people are extremely humble. Not like that stupid b**** Sylvia. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! Trust me!!!

Long Post ! Today I went to the restaurant that is in my building to get some food ! The restaurant was getting full, and had a couple of empty tables there that were dirty, and hasn't been cleaned up and cleared yet . I ordered my food and normally after I order my food I sit down at a table and stay and wait because I like my food to be hot. The wait time was ridiculous, but I understood it was busy . As I was paying for my food, I normally get my food to go, Sylvia the owner asked me to come back and get my food , because she didn't want me sitting at any of the tables , she wanted the table for dining customers . I'm a regular, she knows I live upstairs, and I have been going there for 5 plus years . I was appalled and pissed. I agreed to come back. I saw a table with a Mexican man sitting down at a table six. 25-30 minutes later , I saw the same Mexican at the table with no food, as I was getting ready to pick up mine. I expressed to Sylvia how disappointed and angry I was , and come to find out that Mexican man had his food to go , and he was allowed to wait and stay. I questioned her why was he able to stay and I wasn't, she made some excuse there wasn't any room ( a lie) and she said she was sorry ! I told her that I will not be coming to your restaurant again and this will be the last time because that wasn't OK. That was discrimination, and not cool! Maybe I need to stick to healthier choices! Lord give me a sign. The wait times are ridiculous and the way times are way too long and the food is over priced and they charge you a dollar to use your debit card.

Love Sylvia. Love her as a person and the food is amazing. 10 stars highly recommend. I work around the corner and frequent the spot as much as possible. It feels real comfortable inside. Like a lovely lil taste of El Salvador. She's extremely sweet and I can't wait to get some more pupusas on my next visit.

No puedo creer lo que me hico la señora que me tomo la orden por teléfono! Able para pedir una orden y la señora muy grosera con migo. Asta me colgó. Yo ERA cliente de este lugar les compraba todos los viernes $70+ de comida ahora perdieron una clienta! Por grosera! Espero que sepan contratar alas persona que tienen que sepan atender al cliente!

Pupusas are just as good as my grandma's. The place is very casual, cozy, and chill. --ever with plenty of time to hang out.

Did an UberEats order, they absolutely go above and beyond on their orders! The food was great, it was as close as you can get to home cooked. They sent a very pleasant note to say thanks for ordering along with a quesadilla, that was so yummy and soft, and done cookies! Their handmade tortillas combined with the beans were heavenly! Definitely recommend this little place!

Delicious comida Salvadoran! The pupusas, tamales, and service were amazing! Sylvia was so nice and it was such a good dining experience. Definitely coming back!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was able to pick up a phone order under 25 minutes which they did let me know. I really try my best to make phone orders when available because it helps to speed up the process. I ordered the pupusas revueltas which were so delicious and fresh and as well as the ensalada drink! What I also really enjoy is that the prices are very affordable yet the food is still of great quality. The staff are also very attentive and the deliciousness of the food shows how much time and care they put into the food.

Waited too long for my food after i was told it would take 25 min for simple pupusas order, took more then 35 min... very frustrating.

I came to this restaurant on November 13, 2019. I was concerned when the menu board only showed pictures and no pricing. I visited the store with two friends and they ordered first. Their bill was $13 and change, combined with drinks! I ordered something similar and my bill was $19 and change. I didn't even order a drink! When I asked why my bill was almost $20, they just said that's the price and would give me no explanation as to why. As I pressed the issue, staff came out to confront me. I felt as if they were going to jump me for asking why my bill was so high. I have to say here, I was very friendly and not rude or irate!!! They just kept saying, "The price is the price." When I asked where is the price on the menu board I received no response, but the one in quotes above. My friends were laughing and when I came to our table they said that I was getting the "White Tax." In case you haven't noticed by now my friends were Hispanic and I am Caucasian!!! After all this I can say the food was very poor quality and cold! The staff was very rude and combative. Be very suspicious of restaurants without pricing!! I suggest not going to this store! I would give it 0 stars if that were an option. I haven't ever been treated this poorly when traveling throughout Mexico or South America.

I ordered some pupusas this week for lunch and I was blown away. I haven't had this quality of pupusas in a long time. It brings me back to my El Salvador vacation a few years ago. I'll forsure come back to pick up some more

I only come here for my Pupusas everything is homemade ! Amazing taste . The caldo de gallina is really good too. And for the vegetarians they also have veggie Pupusas very welcoming staff I love this place .

I order corn tamales and they were disgusting! Old tamales super hard! How can you sell that! I'll Never order from them again!

Just found this place a few weeks ago and it amazing. They're pupusas are so good and the employees are also so welcoming.

I brought my family and we had their delicious pupusas but I wanted a mojarra plate and I'm glad I did. It was delicious they even delivery too! We are definitely coming back for more!

BOMB!!! The Pupusas revueltas will make your head go vueltas! Letttttsss talk about the salsa ! The right type of spice and just compliment the curtido that is not too vinegary nor too dry!!! AGH PERFECT ! This is my new go to place for Pupusas and at the right price too
