Beautiful little island. Beautiful houses, cute cats, delicious ice cream and fun souvenir shops! Highly recommend doing a day trip to this island. We stayed for about 4 hours and it was perfect!

100% take the day trip ferry to Symi from Rhodes - was likely the highlight of our whole trip! A gorgeous island (just make sure you bring your walking shoes as there’s a lot of stairs to climb in the centre). Beautiful scenery, stunning photo opportunities, and a variety of shops and restaurants. It’s easy to find your way around and you’ll encounter countless of friendly kitties along the way - No way you’ll regret the journey

Symi is a beautiful island of Greece, with a beautiful harbour, clean water, beautiful laneways with nice architectural detailing. Spending a day trip or spend a week, it’s just a nice place, and was more enjoyable than Positano in Italy. Very relaxing and is well visited by the local Mediterranean country’s such as Greek, and Italian families. Food options are varied but generally found food to be of a high quality no matter where we ate. Getting there is via Ferry. And we found the ferry service on time and reliable, if travelling in the busy periods do allow extra travel time in between ferry rides 2 hours is suggested for good reason. Only failure is signage when arriving to your destination on most of the islands not much signage to help in where you need to go, especially the first ferry ride coming from another country.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful!! That’s all I can say. Simi is so picturesque. We done the tour from Rhodes old town to simi and monastery (will get to monastery) Simi is busy but you can just walk and chill, no hassle! Cobble stones so comfortable footwear a must! It’s a postcard perfect town with such great architecture. Very friendly people and food was great! You have to try the small Simi shrimp! You eat whole. They are seasonal but we got lucky. It’s around 1-2hrs boat ride from Rhodes old town, depending on boat. You can cut up alleys and you see all local parts, we found a local fruit seller and ate mangoes and oranges. We found a lovely place to eat on other side of port. Basically port is a horseshoe shape, so accross from boat docking, place was called taverna spitikos. Good food and friendly and very reasonable priced. We had a lovely day. The only negative was the monastery, we left Simi at 2pm, then was another slow ride of 1.5hrs to monastery, which we arrived 3.30pm. Then had to be back on for 4pm!! Absolutely waste of time as was so busy we never got to go in. Would have rather stayed on Simi,if that was the case. So double check your tour!! As our day from meeting coach at 7am and not arriving back to hotel at 730pm is as way to long! But again Simi is a must, monastery I only managed a picture!

It's definitely worth the hour and a bit ferry trip over from Rhodes to visit Symi. Loverly harbour area, which is nice to wander around, and some cracking harbourside restaurants to sit and people watch whist enjoying some fresh seafood.

Symi Island – A Postcard in Motion, Beyond the Frame Symi took my breath away long before I stepped off the ferry. As the boat approached the harbor, the hills revealed rows of pastel-hued neoclassical houses cascading toward the sea—it felt like sailing straight into a painting. But what makes Symi truly unforgettable is how that postcard scene remains alive as you walk, eat, and linger in its streets. This island isn’t flashy. It doesn’t rush to impress. But its beauty is persistent. Every angle offers a new composition—vantage points from the hilltops (be prepared for a bit of climbing), quiet harborside cafés where locals linger with their morning espresso, fishing boats gently bobbing in the dusk light. We explored Symi mostly on foot: a slow climb from the harbor to the top reveals an almost cinematic view—orange roofs, cobalt waters, and the clean geometry of island life. At sunset, we watched the sky and the village lights melt into each other from a quiet dockside bench. That was the moment I felt Symi wasn’t just a place—it was a pace. Ferries may come and go, but time here stretches. If you’re looking for a side of Greece that blends beauty, authenticity, and a little space to breathe, Symi is a treasure. Unpolished in the best possible way. Even after leaving, I still find myself missing Symi. Its quiet charm, the warm light over the harbor, and the slow, gentle rhythm of life here stay with you longer than expected. I hope to return someday.
