😊: Traditional ryokan if you want to experience authentic Japanese lifestyle and cuisine. Have to lay futons yourself. Dinner was wagyu beef BBQ, they didn’t have fish sashimi and served horsemeat instead (probably due to the Aso mountaineous region), which we didn’t dare to try. Wagyu was very good quality, other dishes were homegrown and healthy, which needs some accustom to. Breakfast was traditional Japanese style which was very good! Private onsens available for booking..

😊: The building was very beautiful, the meals were delicious, the private onsens were nice and we loved our room. We would have really liked to stay more than 1 day..

Feels like a homestay in a beautiful old samurai house. Two small private onsen with healing water. Delicious meals that are almost too copious. My only critique would be to cut out the sugar in the vegetables - it detracts from the freshness of the food. Truly farm to table meals, as the rice and much of the produce is sourced from the family farm.

😊: Love the meals, the onsen baths, and the place is really cool... makes me feel like a samurai.. 😢: nothing really. would come back for sure if I have the chance.

We really enjoyed this authentic experience, everything was perfect : the old samurai house with traditional Japanese room, the onsens, the outstanding service, the delicious meals prepared and served by the family (they even produce a lot of the ingredients they use as they are farmers)... We loved the homemade prune wine, too bad they don't sell it 😅 Keep up the good work ! We would totally recommend coming here as it was one of the best experience of our trip !

Highly recommended. Staff was super kind and accommodating, and speak enough good English. Was there with my wife for two nights. It is a 300 year old samurai home tucked away in a local neighbourhood a short 10min walk from the train station. I guess there were about 10 rooms total. Room was traditional, tatami mats and futons, was spacious and well lit, and included small antechamber with private sink and bathroom. Highlight were the private stone Onsen baths on the premises. Another highlight were the amazing traditional meals, as we had half-board with breakfast and dinner. These are served to you, so not buffet style. It was a lot of food for us Europeans, so you will not be hungry! We spent a full day hiking up Mount Aso, so were happy for warm bathing and good food.

This is what a classic ryokan should be for me. Not too big with 11 rooms in total. Beautiful wooden structure from a 300 year old building that was relocated to this site. The food was truly excellent for dinner as well as for breakfast. Served in a magnificent dinner hall at low tables. You have to help yourself to the rice and do the barbecue also yourself. The crampy leg situation makes it a true Japanese experience 😬. The choice of pickles is splendid which especially pleased my wife. The bathes are small but very nice. There are 2 bookable family tubs and 2 larger Men/Women general admission baths. There is a good selection of yukata's in all sizes. You have to make your own futon at night. This place is in a lovely village type neighborhood. It may not have the grand views like some other ryokans but for this price it is an absolute steal. I hope to be able to come back again.

😊: Room was comfortable. Their Dining room was comfortable also.. 😢: Under the futon was not comfortable enough. It was a bit hard..
