Lovely restaurant in Chinatown, Adelaide. Service was excellent- very attentive to our needs. I am Coeliac and was assured my meal was safe. It was not only safe, it was absolutely delicious. Big serves. We watched others getting their meals and they were all huge serves, hot and fresh. Ate too much as we didn’t want to waste any - too good. We will definitely return.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews, Chinese restaurants aren't renowned for service unless you're going to flower-drum in Melbourne, t-chow is always good, service is fine, and food is always as it should be.

The discrimination was blatant — clear differential treatment towards customers. From the moment we entered the restaurant with our child until we finished our meal, the two female staff members wore cold, indifferent expressions. When we ordered, one of them even glared at us with a discriminatory look, rolled her eyes, and walked away without saying a word. Meanwhile, a group of local Australian men at the next table were greeted with flattery and smiles from the same waitress. It was laughable. I’ve been dining here since twenty years ago — I never expected to encounter such behavior after all these years. The male staff, on the other hand, treated everyone equally.

This was not a great meal at all. We definitely would not come back. The prawn & pork dumplings lacked flavour & the sauce that came with it was awful. The fried rice was really good & had a nice smokey flavour. Satay chicken was nice, compared to the salt & pepper squid. It was tough & overcooked, so it wasn't easy to eat. The sizzling beef with ginger shallot was oversalted & the meat tasted off. We all agreed to give it a 1 star, a $$$ 1 star, if it hadn't been for the rice we'd probably rate it a 0 star.

I really enjoyed this one One in my company didn't but I reckon maybe 🤔 flavour or pallate difference? I knew what to expect but they also delivered and it was very quick, service was fast 🏃‍♀️. It was almost full house but I thought the food was very consistent quality. You can also buy live fish and crabs and lobster there..I didn't but there is that option. Restaurant was clean and felt like you were in a nice Chinese restaurant Loud but not uncomfortable loud, I thought it was a nice place to have a big group too Based on that experience I would definitely come back again

Tuesday lunch in May. Staff were friendly. Food was nice. We had spring rolls, shallot pancake, pork and prawn dumplings, crispy duck, Chinese greens and special fried rice. Very fresh ingredients. Quick service. The rice was a bit on the sweet side for us, not sure if there was MSG used as we both had a bit of dry mouth but could just have been us on the day. The duck was lovely.

Ordered Uber eats! Terrible quality Should have checked the google reviews! For Food quality is below average. An example the salted fish fried rice was 21 bucks! Basically it was rice with half an egg in it with some spring onions, for a cost of under 1.50!. See for yourself in the image! Totally cheat you out of what you think you paid for! Uber don't even have an option to accept this type of complaints where the dishes are not what it says it is! Shocking quality. For total spent of 130 bucks you can imagine how cheated i feel with all my other dishes!!

The noodle dish I ordered had no flavour and the beef was chewy. I couldnt understand the menu as I wanted Kway Teow which most places have, but there was nothing listed under that name so I asked and the waitress said it was there but under something different. Very sensible I dont think! My friend ordered sweet and sour pork. She liked the pork but not so much the huge chunks of capsicum. I ordered a coffee, it was cold as soon as I got it, I wasnt pleased at $5 for cold coffee so another waitress took it and told the first waitress about it, my friend saw her looking irrate and talking crossly in chinese. Not my fault it was cold. They brought another cup, guess what, it was scalding hot and burnt my mouth. I couldnt help wonder if it was done deliberately to annoy me. The first waitress didnt look happy to serve us. I see lots of bad reviews about the staff and their rude attitude. The owner needs to employ better staff dont you think considering the reviews. We wont go there again. Im sure there are better places to eat with better service and better food.

Yelp
Peking Duck was a little tough. Fried rice was a little dry. $AUD 68 FOR nice environment and air conditioning.

Yelp
Terrible. We ordered takeaway from here and were charged $130 for 6 dishes which were tiny. For instance, the garlic shrimp had 9 shrimp in it for almost $30, and tasted so so. Save yourself the disappointment and over priced dishes and do not go here. Way better options elsewhere.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, typical for dim sum yum cha time. Place is not placed like I am used to, but the food is still fresh. I tried my staple shrimp dumplings and it was good but lacked flavor. Surprised me to find scallops in it. The beef ball was tasty with the sauce. The soft shelled crab was nicely fried with great flavor. I would not recommend the sil Mai, that is hard pork meat, too dry. I give it 3.5 stars for food and 4.5 Service . They are friendly and not rude.

Yelp
T-Chow is the only Chinese restaurant in Adelaide that serves authentic Teochew cuisine from the southern provinces of China (either Chaoshan or Fujian) If you know what to order, often times the dishes are lighter and less skewed towards Cantonese-style Chinese dishes or those from Sichuan which prevails in Chinatown here. One of their specialties is the braised duck, or T-Chow duck. It is a dish that, unlike the usual roast duck, is lean and braised till tender in their master stock. In the near-20 years I have lived in Adelaide, I have introduced many people to the dishes on the menu of T-Chow that are familiar with any one who has a Teochew heritage. On this occasion, I had brought a guest unfamiliar with the braised duck. For the first time, I was greatly embarrassed. The duck, normally tender, came out cold ... and worst of all, tough as opposed to tender. The oyster omelette which I would normally recommend, usually fresh and fluffy, was deflated, cold and oily. The other dish was the steamed spinach which came out at room temperature. In the numerous times over the course of many years I was utterly disappointed beyond words. My guest said: "I thought you said this place is really good?" It didn't stop there. The wait for the dishes on a weekday with less than 10 tables was longer than any I had experienced. We had gone through half a bottle of wine when I had to ask where my dishes were. I am used to a maximum of 15 minutes wait-time on a crowded night. The table next to us noticed me asking in Mandarin (visible annoyance bridges language barriers) and said to me they had been waiting for 45 minutes for their banquet. Banquets, as we all know, don't take that long. It's the bread-and-butter of Chinese restaurants. I asked for the owner, but apparently he/she were not around that night. The staff also told me that they were short-handed. It's not good enough especially for regular customers. I miss eating my most favourite duck dish in Adelaide. It is not like fatty roast duck or sometimes overly-dry tea-smoked duck. The braised duck used to be so special, succulent and tender here. I feel scarred. I am tentative of returning. I can only hope that since then, there have been no bad experiences like mine. If you venture here in spite of my review, don't order the banquet. Try something different accompanied by steamed rice and share your dishes.

Yelp
I haven't been back to T-Chow in a while; not since my girlfriend alerted me to the terrible practice of shark finning. Shark's Fin Soup happens to be one of this restaurant's specialties, and I now try to stay away from restaurants that offer this dish on the menu. It's a shame, as T-Chow is a truly superb Chinese restaurant. The dining area is spacious and comfortable, though the seats are quickly filled at the beginning of evening. With a large selection of traditional Chinese items on the menu, you'll need at least ten minutes to make a definitive decision, as you'll undoubtedly be spoiled for choice. The crocodile tail is one of the best dishes I've ever had at any Chinese restaurant - a delicacy quite similar to chicken, its an exotic dish that will please even the most timid. Definitely give this dish a try - you'll be surprised at how tasty a croc can be. Though my personal afflictions will keep me away from this place until they decide to replace the shark's fin soup with a synthetic alternative (one can hope), don't let it stop you. This is one restaurant you'll want to jot down in your diary.

Yelp
Add this place to the list of Chows - Ying Chow, Ky Chow, and now T Chow. They aren't affiliated, by the way. The name T Chow probably comes from the food, Teo Chew cuisine. This restaurant has been around longer than the other Chows, since I was a kid. It displays classic royal Chinese decor with lanterns, paintings of dragons, and fish. It's a bit dimly lit, but once your food comes out all is forgotten. Daily yum cha is on offer, and an extensive takeaway menu as well as BYO (wine only) available. While the serving sizes aren't as much as before, their stellar quality remains. The T Chow chicken, minced pork and green beans, fried bean curd, and T Chow duck are just some of the recommended dishes. A spacious, family friendly restaurant, helpful and efficient staff, and reasonable prices are just some of the things to expect when you're at T Chow.

Yelp
I feel there are two types of Chinese Restaurants in Australia, 'Australian Chinese' and 'Chinese Chinese'. The former caters to the Ozzie palet, used to Chinese from your average local take away. The latter is the way it should be, the way the creaters of the cuisine meant it. T-Chow is definately a 'Chinese Chinese' restaurant, and a damn good one at that! I first went to T-Chow around 6 years ago, and loved every mouthful. It isn't the prettiest of interiors, and it always seems to be under construction, but it is fairly big and rarely less that half full. I have not had the Yum Cha there as of yet, so I will have to bow to my fellow yelpers opinions, but the normal dining options are vast and ever changing! In the tradition of many Chinese Restaurants in the city the daily specials are written on colourful paper and stuck on the wall, and there are usually almost as many as those that appear on the printed menu. I have had the pleasure of trying the soft shell crabs from the 'post it' menu and it was crabtastic! The Salt and Pepper Tofu is also surprisingly good (I hate tofu). If you haven't been there and love a good Chinese feed, join the masses and jump on board.....if you prefer some fried rice and some greasy honey/lemon chicken then it probably isn't the place for you!

Yelp
I really dig this place. It's cheap and the food is amazing. I've been coming here for maybe 15 years? Back when it was a tiny little Chinese place with shark fins on the wall. I don't generally like shark fin soup, but the shark fin soup here is a must have. Get the ginger scallops, the coral trout and the T Chow tender duck. Also, get the abalone. Bring a whole heap of friends and share everything. Your hopes. Your dreams. Also, get one of the great wines on offer that normally lack from Chinese eateries. I get very excited when I get to go to T Chow. I know I'm in for an awesome meal and a great night.

Yelp
I REALLY NEED TO STOP ARRIVING PLACES DRUNK Wow...that makes me sound less than classy. The problem is that on a weekend, after a couple of afternoon wines, a girls still gotta eat - like seriously, even though I often joke about 'eating is cheating (when drinking)' - if you don't eat, shizz gets real. Anyhow, I gracefully strolled (read, stumbled) into T Chow on a Saturday night with a group of pals (some were at my level, others were better behaved) - we'd been vying for Ky Chow but the line for a table was out the door! We were quickly seated in the HUGE dining area and promptly given menus - which was great. Although the words were kind of fuzzy on the page, I managed to point out something I wanted to my more sober pals. They then proceeded to order several plates and some entrees. The shallot pancakes were good- ya can't go too wrong! We also had a crispy beef dish - similar but not as good to what is on offer at Ky Chow (yes, I know...I'm doing a lot of comparing here...). It was rather fatty in comparison, as was the sweet and sour pork. Special fried rice was fine and the hot pot we ordered was very tasty, although not mind blowingly amazing. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either...let's be honest, I'm probably going to have to return to give an honest review but I hope that my drunken escapades could entertain you! On a side note, on the way here, my friend and I decided to push each other in a discarded shopping trolley we found. I'm pretty unco and managed to tip it with her in it. There was a guy filming it - if you are that guy or know him, or have seen this on YouTube, get in touch!!!

Yelp
"A well proportioned feed with great service." Positioned perfectly in the Chinatown main strip, this has to be one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants in Adelaide. The minute you walk in you are greeted by a warm smile and quick service. As soon as you're seated you are presented with a well set out menu with easy, clear to read Chinese and English with illustrations (which I thought was a nice touch). As mentioned before, the service is punctual and is just right in terms of it not being too quick but not too slow that you're waiting for too long. The food is well presented, fresh and is extremely delicious with a massive selection of authentic Chinese dishes and Australia classics like lemon chicken. Portions are fair and are usually on the generous side. The décor is minimalistic to a degree and is well set out. A modern room with an appropriate colour scheme surrounds you as you eat and look at the high quality authentic Chinese artwork. As an added bonus, there are Lobster and King Crab tanks on the Southern wall which you can order from. It adds to the relaxing atmosphere even though it's usually extremely busy whenever you're there. The price per dish is well thought out and is commensurate with what you receive as a customer. I have no quarrels with the prices. Overall I was extremely impressed with this restaurant and I highly recommend it. Service: 5/5 Product: 5/5 Décor & Cleanliness: 5/5 Hospitality: 5/5 Price: 5/5

Yelp
Great for a banquet, T Chow's spacious dining room and large tables adorned with Lazy Susan's make it a great place to head when eating out with a large group of people. Although the decor is nothing to write home about the food is fantastic and the menu has some great little numbers on it which are well worth trying. Some favorites of mine are the Cabbage Rolls (prawn and Chinese mushroom wrapped in cabbage and deep fried), pork mice and green beans, the oyster omelette and the salt and pepper soft shell crab. I also once had an incredible dish of cockles there, however, last time I looked it didn't seem to be on the menu. Not sure if it was a special, but keep your eye out for it.

Yelp
T Chow wopuld be one of my top choices for Chinese in Adelaide. Great for groups, the menu is extensive and you have the option of eating in or takeaway. They also offer Yum Cha everyday, and the Yum Cha is worth trying. The steamed BBQ pork buns are really damn good. It's enough to make me want to go here just for them. Theres plenty of other options on the menu. Another reason why it's great for groups.

Yelp
Food was excellent and very affordable. Customer service was ok could have been better though. seems to me like some waiters spent more time chatting to each other then serving customers.

Yelp
Awesome selection, great location, and friendly service. I found the food a bit salty, but I'm known to be sensitive to this, so you may have a different experience. If you have a big group of people and you want a Chinese restaurant in the city with a really broad menu, this is for you.

Yelp
We dine here probably 3-4 times a year, visited recently for a birthday dinner for a group of 12. Had the $38 banquet which we felt was pretty much as expected but not all diners felt full at the end. You certainly a get a good meal and the place is always busy the yum-cha is also quality for lunch during the day, but you do get what you pay for and the staff aren't always too attentive. One thing that was a bit poor is that they charged the corkage per person rather then per bottle (which is what was noted on their website). When we pointed this out, they did fix it as only a few people were drinking wine that night, but double/triple check your bill before paying it. They don't split bills so if your coming in a group bring enough cash to pay in one transaction. Get the shallot pancakes!

Daniella B.

Yelp
Am I the only one who had a bad experience at this place? The service was terrible. The table didn't even have a proper table cloth, it was like an overly large paper napkin. Once we ordered, the food came rather quickly...probably because it wasn't very good. The food had really weird spices and some of the food was a little undercooked. I also didn't feel very comfortable eating there because the staff were just watching me and my family eat, it was very awkward. Part of me wants to go again because of all the rave reviews this restaurant gets but I don't think I can muster up the courage to go there again.

Yelp
So very disappointed. We went here after hearing good reports and from the minute we walked in had bad service. Took 10 minutes to take a drinks order and all three of our courses were cold and dry by the time they came out. We asked for the bill and were charged a $1 surcharge for god knows what and corkage (by the glass apparently) never coming back.

Annie H.

Yelp
I am giving this 3 stars for the food which I really liked. Everything was tasty, came out quickly and that's where it ends....the guys that work there were nice and polite but the lady that served us could not have been ruder!! She never looked at us when she served us, was very dismissive when she spoke to us and even when we went to pay she didn't say a word or look at us when she handed us the bill. The only thing she said in a very fake tone was 'have a nice day' when she handed me the change. If you do go there avoid her at all costs if you want to enjoy your experience.
