Taberna Boricua

Nice atmosphere. Once you have been there several times, the management recognizes you and treats you as part of a community that goes there regularly. Great option of beers, a big patio for events and gatherings, and be able to converse. Taberna Boricua has live music on weekends featuring salsa, ska, rock in Spanish and DJs.

Very friendly service and easy-going vibe at this place. I had the Sly Fox IPA on tap, the jalapeño poppers, and the Birria Tacos. All very good. Easy access from the Tren Urbano and also near the Cinema Arts Popular if you are visiting without a car and want to combine lunch or dinner with a movie. Recommended!

Please avoid this place for the time being. It STINKS and the employees are a bit standoff-ish. There’s also barely any variety of beers for a place that focuses on beers.

The coolest place to hang out in Hato Rey, great food, try their Jalapeno poppers!!!! And the crafy beers from.San Lorenzo. Service is great this guys know a lot about beers! The tables are on a interior Patio. If you are looking for a place to blend with the locals, safe and cool go to Taberna

Very relaxed atmosphere! Food menu was recently revamped and has more "big meal" items than the previous appetizer-oriented selection. Great draft variety and lots of cool cans in the beer fridges. Awesome spot. :)

I had wanted to come here for a while. I had heard good things and I live nearby in Hato Rey. Finally I got the chance shortly before covid-19 hit. I went with my wife, kid, and two friends. They have two areas, the indoor area in front and the garden in the back. The garden is very nice. Great vibes from the looks of it and they sometimes have live music, I'm told. Too bad it was full when we went. We had to settle for indoors. Not a big deal. The real issue was that they didn't have many of the beers on the drink list... and those were the ones we really wanted. Overall, the experience was good. My kid kept himself entertained and we enjoyed some beers and drinks and had a good time hanging out. We ordered some wings and they were pretty good. I haven't been able to return since the pandemic for obvious reasons, but also because their hours are always changing and/or are inconvenient. According to their FB page they currently operate only Wednesday to Friday 5:30-10p. Closed on weekends. I'm guessing that will change soon. I hope to return and do recommend it overall.

Great place for craft beers and fried food. Friendly staff and clean restrooms. Parking is kind of limited so using the train and uber is best.

This is a Gem! Away from the crowd and mostly locals are found here. By locals I mean young professionals from Hato Rey. And NOT kids! This is a place to try new beers, but also to LEARN about beer! Amazing staff , great selection!

If you want to have a good time in Puerto Rico you need to visit this place. Lots of craft beer and the kitchen is open until.midnight. live.music friday and saturday. Rock.music on the front bar. Jammin and acoustical.in the garden bar

This one is for the locals. It's away from the tourist area - but not so far that visiting beer geeks can't check it out. It's actually 2-3 separate bars under one name. The first one, where you enter from, is a small dark pub, with a TV screen and AC The second bar is in the back and is open air. This is the main bar, and is where most people go. You feel like you're in someone's backyard. It's great. The third bar, which isn't always open, is around the corner from the first bar. It's mainly used on weekends, and when it's raining. That's not the point. The point is the beer and service - staff is friendly, and the selection is about 15 draught and 200 bottles. Plus artisanal spirits, and yummy bar food (plus bbq on the weekends). Also, a discount for AHA/BA members. Yay! Discounted beer!

Taberna Lupulo and Taberna Boricua paved the way for craft beers in Puerto Rico. I used to come here once every two weeks to meet up with my friends. From the outside it looks like a small bar with a small balcony, and even though the (air conditioned) main bar area is narrow, you can go to the back where there is ample outdoor seating and an outside patio bar. Since i am prone to get bitten by mosquitos, i put some OFF insect repellant (just in case). The staff is amazing and they have a great variety of beers. This is a must-go place when we visit PR.

Great locals bar. Large bottled craft beer and tap selection. Relaxed ambience. The patio is a cool area to just sit down, chill with friends and enjoy a decent brew.
