Taberna La Sorpresa

Adorable taverna on a side street. Order anything with tuna and it is excellent. Wine selection was varied with a lot of local options. Service was gracious and prompt. However, at the end , when we asked to pay via credit card, we were told that the owner requires payment via credit card to be done in dollars versus euros despite our insistence otherwise. I recommend planning to pay in cash to avoid the added tourist tax.

Superb little Tapas bar. Had an amazing Rioja Temperanillo and some fabulous Tapas. Definitely worth visiting.

Amazing tuna carpaccio and sashimi, lovely tapas, and great local wines and vermouth. Excellent service including a menu in English. Would highly recommend visiting.

If you are looking for local delicious fresh seafood and nice domestic wine. If you are looking for a Spanish colorite, if you want to see and feel a family-running business in Cadiz with great flavor and make your evening special, you should visit this place. The place is not fancy however it gives you full atmosphere of Cadiz. Great tuna tartar is in Taberna la surpesa, fancy tuna tar tar in Vadiz is Musalima. :) Have joy and make this place must have while you are in Cadiz.

Wow!! We were walk-in customers and luckily they were able to accommodate us as the place was full. We had sangria and white wine and ordered a selection of tapas. Ordered Anchovies (Gilda) twice. Had sardines, ham and cheese as other tapas. Local establishment with local customers - we were the only tourists there! Highly recommend if in Cadiz!

Extremely friendly staff! We walking in looking a little lost, not sure what to do (our first authentic tapas bar) and we were warmly greeted and given a seat at the bar. Excellent wine and the food was delicious. A lot of locals filled the place, we very much enjoyed it!

Found this place whilst exploring Cádiz. Loved the decor and atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming as I initially sat outside but was invited inside into the cool interior. I enjoyed the cold beer and the panaterra was delicious. I will visit again
