Taberna Sal Grosso São Bento

Food was delicious. Portions were bigger than expected. The grilled cabbage was the best. I would go back just for that. The beef cheek was soft and juicy, but the sauce could be a little more acidic, it felt like it was missing some mustard and vinegar. It was also the most beautiful plate, the cassava chips on top made it look really special. The octopus was a bit overcooked so it was a little chewy. But these are all minor points, overall the food was delicious!

AMAZING food, AMAZING stuff and everything. Couldn’t ask for a more relaxing and fantastic dinner in Lisbon. Food so good we came there for two nights in a row for how good it was. The tuna was amazing and the Ray a very open minder. I fell in love. If we’ll come back, for sure we’ll stop by again

Probably the most underrated restaurant in Lisbon. Unbelievable taste, friendly service and perfect presentation. Get their cabbage side and eggplants. Awesome taste. Bacon salad was very different with unexpected tangy taste. Make a reservation as it gets crowded quickly.

I would say this classifies as a hidden gem. Far from the very centric, touristy area, this restaurant has all the things necessary to be perfect. Excellent staff, reasonable prices, beautiful atmosphere and (most importantly) outstanding food quality. The kitchen is open for everyone to see, and it's absolutely unbelievable how just two humans can deal with all the orders in the restaurant and at such a good pace. This place is a must-try in Lisbon, hands down!

The food is delicious (Just a bit slow. Probably due to full house). The portion of each dish is not big but good enough for a person. Good that they are dog friendly.

Outstanding place. Starting with the staff: Super friendly and welcoming. One of us needed all to be gluten free and they explained everything in detail and they were super helfpul. We brought a baby and it was the same with the little one - Amazing. The food is also great, with special mention to the cabbage, octopus, beef checks and anchovies. Would definitely come back!

Food was fantastic, would absolutely recommend and would go back in a heartbeat. We had the anchovies to start, followed by the beef cheeks octopus and grilled cabbage between two of us. For dessert we had chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. All were equally delicious. My only gripe would be the 35 minute wait to order drinks in the beginning.

We had dinner at Taberna Sal Grosso on our last night in Lisbon based on recommendations from a friend who visited Lisbon as well as a local. So glad we did. The food was creative and tasty. Service was excellent. Alan was especially attentive and we loved his energy.
