Ah, table 14.
Should be a great place. I think it is an ok place but a place where the waitress has to assure me that she us a BLONDE has got a problem.
And I am guessing it was not the waitress's fault. It was a week night in a tourist town and the chef was way below par or was not there or had gotten a better offer other then cooking my dinner. Maybe he owes Tony Soprano money and thought I was Tony. I look like Tony, kinda if you squint.
Drinks were good Martini @ 12 .00 a French 75 @ 10.00 and this was sublime. We like 75's and this was good. Drinks were made by, I a not a blonde. Knows her way around a bar.
Crab cake @ 16.00
crab soup @ 6.00 for a cup
Duck entree @ 26.00. , duck breast cut into medallions on polenta
Tuna napolean @ 28
2 x drink + 2 house wines 40.00
1 dessert and 2 coffees @ 12.00 + tax for a total 131.28 plus tip 151.28
Soup came out right away but no starter. Ok.
No inquiry for 2nd drink, wine nada.
Then waitress appears with crab cake in left hand and entree in right.
Both together, no gee whiz, no surprise, puts both on table and vanishes.
Older more experienced woman that was hostess looks and walks away.
Waitress comes back flustered to apologize. I finished my crab and thought well the duck won't be hot but should work. I like duck .
Surprise ! Not only cold but raw. Does not have to baked into oblivion but bleeding onto the polenta ?
How much worse can it get, you may be wondering?
The coffee comes out, after a long wait, they were making a fresh pot. Reeking of descaler. Someone had cleaned the coffee machine and not rinsed it. Gave the coffee back, waited some more, new coffee came out along with the non blonde disclaimer and no descaler.
Creme brûlée, was good. Not great but very decent.
Left a decent tip for the young lady, she would need a drink after a night like that.
Sometimes timing is everything.
