Simple & modern twist on a taco joint- we tried it on a Friday night about 7pm, Got the last outdoor table. Place was full, which is a good sign. Server/waitstaff were very friendly and attentive but also chill. Didn’t feel pressured to over order. I was very pleased with my chicken and blackened fish tacos- they’re on the pricey side for what they are- but the restaurant has a fancier date spot vibe so it makes sense. I was not impressed by the chips and queso- queso was a grainy texture. Overall, good spot for a date night or friend meet up- everyone says their margaritas are very good- we only did water tonight. They use old tequila bottles to serve chilled water at each table which was an eclectic detail to the dining experience 😋 it’s a cute outdoor patio off The busy stretch of 8th avenue across from an industrial plant- but somehow it still works! Lots of flowers and over head light for ambience.

Google
My kind of place, wonderful service and people, love the open air concept and outside seating. Not the best views, but you can see water. I am a big fan of taco joints and this is worth the visit. Food presentation and quality is spot on. I enjoyed my tacos but if I could change anything I would dial up the intensity of the spice and heat options. I wish them continued success and hope you give them a try!

Google
This place was a surprise find, saw it on the road after another restaurant had a long lead time to get in. Nice patio dining, although it's across the street from an industrial complex, so the view isn't great. But great food and good service. However, it's REALLY overpriced. $72 for 4 tacos and 2 drinks (including tip) is way out of line. As good as the food was, we won't be back.

Google
Service & food was perfect! Our server Marissa was very attentive, kind, and accommodating (& so sweet) with our 4 year old! We ordered the cauliflower, mushroom, and blackened fish tacos and they were all delicious. The margaritas were insane and the happy hour includes free pico or queso if you order two cocktails, which was a great surprise. We were so happy we stopped here!

Google
It was so so good!!! The atmosphere, the food, the staff all of it was wonderful. I can’t wait to come back! One of the best spicy margaritas I’ve ever had! Very affordable prices. I made a cute TikTok about this. I’m coming back with friends!

Google
This place is awesome! My wife and I are semi-taco snobs and this is by far the best taco place we’ve found in all of west Michigan. I personally have been to 15+ taquerias in west Michigan and this one is at the top of the list for me. The chips and guacamole were awesome! Between my wife and I, we got 5 of the 7 tacos on the menu and they were all 5 out of 5 stars. My personal favorite is a tie between the fish taco and the cauliflower taco. So freaking good and really unique. My wife also got a glass of the Spanish red and she said it was solid! Definitely worth checking out ASAP! Good job Taco+Bar!

Google
A quaint taco restaurant just outside of downtown Holland. It has a very fun atmosphere, very open to the outdoors. I’d suggest getting a reservation because there isn’t a ton of seating and it could fill up fast. The food was decent! We were a little let down they they were out of some things, and we weren’t informed that they were out of the pineapple until our tacos arrived. Nevertheless, they were still great. The tacos themselves felt a little on the expensive side especially when they were out of some toppings. I’d still recommend it as a fun spot to stop for some really decent tacos!

Google
Good drinks, good vibes, alright prices. Honestly I'm just surprised that this has the best pico de gallo I've ever had, and as a Mexican I've been having it my entire life so I'm just trying to wrap my head around that

Yelp
We stopped for a light lunch so we shared 3 tacos and an order of the chips and guac. We had the fried cauliflower, blackened fish, and the shrimp tacos. All three were very flavorful and the chips and guac were great too. They have 3 vegetarian tacos and two can be vegan. The Service was great and it would be a fun place to grab a drink at night. They have dog-friendly outdoor seating.

Yelp
First time on a recommendation and they did not disappoint. Happy Hour is 4-6 with reduced wine and margarita prices, plus some apps. We would recommend the chips and queso. The chips are fresh made and the queso is made with a white cheese, with added chilies and leaves you wanting more. I had the taco bowl and added pork carnitas. The carnitas were perfectly cooked, the beans were some of the best I have ever had, something unique in the flavor. Service was great. This is a quaint little gem that you might not know exists, but definitely worth checking out! We will be back for sure.

Yelp
Great service. Excellent tacos and good drinks. Fun summertime location with open garage doors. Service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
Went with family. Very good. Cute place. Really good tacos! Special call out to the fried cauliflower tacos, however, all were very good. I should mention that Marissa was amazing. The food plus Marissa made the experience. Highly Recommend.

Yelp
Yum. Brought a group of 9 ladies here for lunch after a day at the beach and matching tattoos. This is a cute establishment with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was phenomenal. Cocktails were great too. The food? Worth it. Chips, Quac, Queso, Tacos... order it all! Had to get some Taco + Bar t-shirts to document our experience too!

Yelp
Tacos are bland and they price gouge. I think it was ~10 bucks for a basket of chips and salsa. This place try's to sell itself as some upscale mexican joint when really it's just a place run by some old white guy from holland. If you want good mexican support some of the many places in town that actually serve good food. Mi Favorita, Taqueria Vallarta, and Supermercado Rosie are all great local places that are serving our town and the culture much better. Not to mention their tacos are 50x better and they don't price gouge.

Yelp
Taco + Bar is a great little spot with amazing handmade margaritas! You will be super satisfied with the house margarita, I think I had three! The cauliflower taco was good, the carnitas delicious, but the tinga was our favorite! Don't be discouraged by the prices of the tacos, the portions were large. They open up the entire side of the restaurant with garage doors, and were able to sit out into the parking lot to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan. The ambience was perfect. Quaint little place, super friendly staff. Give Taco + Bar a try, you will be happy to have found this little gem.

Yelp
Finally got to try Holland's newest taco joint. Imagine a taco truck without the truck, add a hipster modern vibe and full bar, and you've got Taco + Bar. True to its name, it's a taco eatery and a bar. And it fits(ish) the west 8th Street scene a la Sperry's, Hopcat, and Seventy-Six. I say "ish" because, although it's on 8th, it's west of the Holland Farmer's Market/Civic Center, so you won't see it if you're walking the main drag. But it's tacos, and they're solid. I tried al pastor, carnitas, and their fish taco. All had decent flavor. The fish was saltier than I was expecting, but it didn't taste bad. And at about $4 a taco, they're neither cheap nor expensive. But the meat, cilantro, pineapple, etc. all were fresh, and I liked their soft corn tortillas which hold up well as you take each bite. Another reviewer mentioned the weird tasting margaritas, and she's right. It's unlike any margarita I've tasted--I want to say it's a bitter taste. Get your margaritas elsewhere and order Taco + Bar's paloma cocktail instead. Much better balance of ingredients. Save room for dessert, too, particularly the churros. Four freshly fried small churros with an irresistible chocolate dipping sauce. Perfectly shareable and it gives a wonderful sweetness to end your meal. Staff were all friendly and happy to be working. Support your local bizzes safely during the pandemic and eat up!

Yelp
Very good tacos and drinks. Open air seating under cover and outside. We will be back.

Yelp
The taco bowl was delicious. The beer was good. This little restaurant is visually charming and seems bigger than it is since it has roll-up garage doors that let the outdoors in! Unfortunately, we suffered through the meal sitting in those awful, narrow, small, cheap metal chairs that ubiquitous. They are poorly designed and do not allow for a comfortable experience! Get rid of those chairs and watch your business soar!

Yelp
Unfortunately this will be our last time at taco + bar. We have always enjoyed the atmosphere however the service has continued to decline over the years. Drinks are just not as good and the attitude of the young bartender Paul is just not inviting. We have both worked in the industry and know to be flexible and patient. Content to have a few drinks at the bar and wait for our food. After over 45 minutes we asked on timing and were met with complete disdain and annoyance. We were then ignored for the better part of half an hour after requesting another beverage while he made everyone else a drink and circled back to them for refills before we asked again if we could get another round. Recognizing we were no longer wanted patrons, we requested the bill. To which Paul waited, then finally presented to us with the food included. I am not going to pay for food I never got, and not after that service. He proceeded to make enough of a scene that our neighbor seats offered to pay for our food. Money was not the issue. The issue was that he never communicated anything to us. We get it, kitchens get backed up, just let us know! He did end up removing the food from the bill but it was just such an embarrassment at that point. Never again. Absolutely unfortunate.

Laura B.

Yelp
Service was slow, waiter said "the kitchen is slow tonight." Appetizers ordered and never brought out. When we inquired about them, they stated the chips and guac+queso were still being made. While other tables were having them be delivered to them. The waiter said, "we'll take them off the bill." Thanks, we never got them!!

Yelp
Taco+Bar I don't know about you, but all of the cute taco places popping up in West Michigan make my heart SO happy! Taco + Bar is just a minute or two minute drive from the downtown area in Holland and is super adorable! The menu has an extensive amount of taco options and they even have taco BOWLS! (Why go to Qdoba or Chipotle when you can have a locally made taco bowl!) They have indoor and outdoor seating and the garage doors are normally open, so even if you are inside you get the outdoorsy patio feel! They have a super cute mural outside and inside you will find their bar with brews on tap! Also we would just like to say the simple taco + bar light up sign by the bar is SO CUTE! A couple of honorable mentions: -The chips and guac!! -Chicken Tacos -Al Pastor Tacos

Yelp
Tonight I had the privilege to try out this new taco place in town! Right on 8th street towards Kollen Park, you cant miss the cute outdoor patio! Walk around the patio into the front door and the host will take your name and seat you or let you know how long the wait is. Seating is limited since it's not a large place. We were lucky to be seated right away out side and our server was absolutely amazing. Our drinks and snacks came out very quickly and our tacos were phenomenal. I loved the fried cauliflower taco the most. Highly recommend. I would love to come back and try out more of their alcoholic beverages sometime soon as they have plenty of good options. Check this place out before summer ends! You won't regret it:)

Canden H.

Yelp
We waited forever for our food. It was overpriced and not filling. The chips are SALTY and the cheese dip was nasty.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Small but the food and cocktails are excellent. We tried a variety of tacos including blackened fish, Al pastor and cactus. They were delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Yelp
If you come to Taco + Bar it should probably be when it's warm out and they have outdoor seating. Otherwise, there isn't a ton of seating inside and there's often a wait because it's so small. My two experiences have been with indoor-only seating, so maybe I need to go the other six months of the year or when it's not raining. Holland is known for taco joints and I guess the idea with this one is that it's between a Mexican grocery store and a nicer, sit-down restaurant. I guess. It's a cool place. The drinks are good. The chips are good. The churros are churros. The main reason I'm giving three stars is that the two times I've come, I've had fatty meat in my tacos. If you want to be a taco competitor in this town, you need good tacos, especially when half of them are five bucks. I need more. I like the idea of this place. I just feel like they have to try a little harder.

Yelp
Great tacos, great drinks, and good music. I would recommend this cute little bar anytime! The bar stools are a little uncomfortable but the rest is a great experience.
google avatar

Joel C.

Yelp
Great drinks, perfect chips and guac, and the tacos were five stars. Everything was crafted. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great tacos, vibes and service! Went here on a Saturday evening around 6:30 and only had a short wait. There was about 7 outdoor tables and 6 indoor tables plus a bar. The outdoor area is dog friendly but not the indoors. It is set in a warehouse and flows from the indoor to outdoors. All tacos were $4-5. The menu was not too extensive but the tacos were great! They had the classics and a few unique ones to choose from.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but the food just wasn't great. First, I'm happy it's gotten so many positive reviews and maybe our experience was an anomaly, but it's what I have to go off of. Pros - * As people have said, they've made an old convenience store look pretty cute, they've done well with the interior / outdoor area. * Staff was friendly * Food came out quickly * Tacos are PACKED with ingredients * Chips are fresh and yummy Cons * Everything we ordered seemed to lack flavor. Queso was burnt. Not "smoky" but burnt. Pico was kinda bland, I felt like it missed some lime or cilantro or something to give it more flavor. We ordered a few different kinds of tacos. Al Pastor came with, what appeared to be, canned pineapple (it had that more translucent color rather than bright fresh pineapple), chicken tings and carne asada were both okay. The flavors were just lacking in my opinion. * I ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned. It was a good drink but came out in a water glass(literally the same kinda glass sitting next to my water cup). For $13 it feels like a tiny bit of extra effort could have been put in here. I know that's simply aesthetic, but when one goes out and spends that much on one drink, I feel it's fair to have higher expectations. I hope to return and try some other things, maybe a taco bowl and the guacamole and update this review.

Yelp
I'd love to tell you it has great tacos but it is never open when we plan a visit, even though the hours say it should be open. We haven't given up and will keep trying. Well let you know what we think!

Yelp
Some of my favorite things in this world are tacos & margaritas so naturally, I was super excited when Taco + Bar was opening. However, I was super disappointed with the margarita. I didn't even want a second one. Which says a LOT for me. The tacos were good. But nothing to go crazy over. I'll probably go back for social things but probably would never pick it myself.

Kathleen B.

Yelp
This used to be a favorite place to go to. It seems that ownership has recently changed. A totally different atmosphere. The tacos were horrible - grisly dried out meat, warmed over with no flavor and dry fish with 2 layers of soggy tacos not even served in taco holders. They had NO NAPKINS but rather gave a stack of 5 or 6 cocktail napkins too small to use other than putting a drink on. The margarita was made by the same great bartender but I don't think it had any Tequila, mostly ice. The guac came 1/2 the size of the usual serving - same price. Really too bad as this was a short time ago a wonderful, fun place with Latin American flair.

Michelle F.

Yelp
Definitely not worth the money. Margaritas were sub-par at best, not worth the money. Food was not worth the money either. There was not much flavor in the taco bowl, needed some seasoning. The mushroom taco was just ok. The queso was runny with no flavor. Visiting from out of town, we were extremely disappointed.

S C.

Yelp
Hours start at 4pm on Saturdays even though their sign says noon. Call ahead maybe in case hours change again. The place looks super cool.

Scott B.

Yelp
Loved this place. Best tacos in Holland hands down. No competition. You will not be disappointed! A must check out for sure!

Yelp
Super excited to visit the newest taco bar right in downtown Holland, MI. We can always use another great Mexican restaurant!

Yelp
A fun, 'Austin' TX' in Holland atmosphere on a warm evening - doors up, outside eating, good tunes and the food smelled delicous. Too bad they were sooooo understaffed. For over 30 minutes, we stood and watched 4 empty tables waste away. One wait person was hostessing, bar tending, busing and serving. We finished cleaning a table so we could finally sit down. The food and drinks were good. I hope the owner takes note of the staffing problems and addresses them (wasn't present his/herself on a busy Sat. night?). We'd love this venue to flourish and will return to support - just up the service level.

Michelle A.

Yelp
Has lots of potential, however...we ordered the saladito and Oaxacan old fashioned and both were terrible! We never send things back but these were undrinkable. I love a good spicy Margarita, but this was definitely not made properly. Way too out of balance. Classic margaritas were fine (tasted just like I'd make at home with Tres Agaves mix). Guac & chips were ok - nothing special to write home about. Tacos also had good potential but were very under-seasoned and tasted like lime & tortillas with maybe some charred meat. Overall we were both very disappointed.

Nicole K.

Yelp
Wonderful tacos (cauliflower...yum) and fantastic service. The margaritas were excellent. Loved it.

Trent V.

Yelp
Was seated right away but waited 15 minutes until a waitress finally came to take our drink order. She then managed to mess up our drink order twice. Service was slow and our waitress seemed to be drunk as she kept forgetting our orders and was drinking one of the drinks she messed up on. The atmosphere was very nice and seemed like a fun place but wasn't impressed with our first visit. 2.5/5
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered to go and sat outside to look at the menu with my daughter. The waitress asked us to get up because the tables were for guests who were dining in Only! she stated she would have to clean it due to Covid...we had already been sitting there looking at the menu, why would she do that?? She was going to have to clean it anyway. She was young..maybe lacked experience in customer service. So we stood waiting for our food. Then, she forgets to give us napkins and a fork on a to go order. We were at Kollens park and had to return for them. The food was great, but expensive.

Rick H.

Yelp
We went to Taco + Bar early Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly, had our choice of outdoor seating under a nice patio tent, or inside the bar area. Masks and social distancing were used. My wife and I both had Margaritas. The pours of tequila were very generous in the drinks, a little too much for my wife but I loved it. I got three tacos, an al pastor, carnitas and a blackened fish. They were all so good I could not pick a favorite. My wife got the taco bowl which she really liked. We will be back.

Nick D.

Yelp
Great tacos that you could tell were all fresh ingredients. The cocktails were also very fresh/original. Holland has needed a restaurant to be "outside" the standard offerings and Taco + Bar is a win.

Karine S.

Yelp
This is a fun, high energy place and totally different from any other place in town. Staff is friendly and we have always had good service. We've tried just about everything on the menu - it's all good. The queso is a favorite app while sipping a Saladito. My new favorite drink - love Mezcal, and they make this perfectly. The menu item that keeps us coming back is the Taco Bowl. Very generous portions and just the right mix of beans, rice, crispy lettuce, fresh pico and toppings of your choice. The cactus is amazing. My husband prefers guacamole and carnitas. This is truly a great addition to the restaurant scene in Holland and has become a go-to spot.

Mark H.

Yelp
Unfortunately our experience was very poor. The food was dry, without flavor and fatty.

Dan K.

Yelp
Cool place, decent tequila selection although the menu makes NO mention of the tequilas they have. You'd think a tequila/taco bar would have their tequila selection listed - but nope. You have to look on the shelves behind the bar to see what they have because no one working there knows anything about tequila. The food is for the most part good. The rice - can't decide if it's Uncle Ben's or Zatarain's - that is to say they do NOTHING to make it their own - is decent. Beans, nothing special but pretty well prepared. Tacos are good but NEVER served hot. The pico is very fresh and well prepared but missing cilantro. For a Butch's restaurant, this place needs some work. With a very limited menu they should be able to "nail" it but that is not the case.

Diane M.

Yelp
The food and drinks at Taco + Bar was sure-fire, authentic, hands down the most delicious tacos, sides AND cocktails I have ever had. If you are expecting a frozen margarita made with a corn syrup mix and soggy ground beef tacos in a hard shell, this is not your place. I was wowed by the fresh lime juice in the margaritas. The tequila was good and they are sweetened with authentic agave. I asked for mine to be bit sweeter and the bartender was accommodating and knew just what to do. The three severs were proud of what they were serving and know the details of the menu. The carne asada was cut in small pieces and was a touch salty but when enjoyed with all components of the taco, the saltiness disappears and enhances the flavor of it all. The cauliflower taco was delicious as well as the blackened fish and chicken. I love the feeling of the small atmosphere. This place is doing it right. Limited choices executed perfectly. Employees that are happy, knowledgeable and take care of their customers. Who ever the chef is should sign the menu. It was a work of art!

K N.

Yelp
Awful. Waited over an hour was on the wait list two people walked in and sat right down never had been on the waitlist. When asked they said oh it's first come first serve but we had already been there and waiting.

Jonah G.

Yelp
Phenomenal food. Best tacos I've ever had. The carnitas are a must. Great atmosphere as well.

Kristen O.

Yelp
My absolute favorite restaurant in Holland. Amazing tacos, the chef does an incredible job. Super friendly staff. The cocktails are WONDERFUL.

Jen D.

Yelp
We have had the absolute pleasure of dining in this beautiful, fresh and welcoming space several times - the drinks are perfect, the food is delicious, and the Taco+Bar crew are all awesome and friendly! We recently ordered takeout and have to say it has been the best takeout we've had during our many carry out experiences through covid! Food was just as fresh and tasty as if we were at the restaurant. We always leave the Taco+Bar happy!
