Taco Cabana has significantly changed over the years. I remember, Taco Cabana, as the popular "go to place" on Sunday evenings. On a warm Summer's night, it was the perfect place to hang out with family, food, and music. They would have a live Mexican (Mariachi) band playing, and they would open those big patio doors, with an indoor/outdoor, open area, that was both familiar & inviting. They would sell their most authentic Tex/Mex food, that would feed the entire family with enough to splurge on a REAL pitcher of Margarita on the Rocks. (Hate those slushy type, brain freeze cocktails) But perhaps the most important and significant thing was, they used to provide a sense of unity, community, and social culture traditions. Now Taco Cabana is, cold, empty & completely, just another fast food joint. What a shame. Today not so much.

Came to TC for a quick meal. I ordered the fajita bowl and I got a perfectly adorned bowl. It looked just like the pictures. It was definitely during a slow time when there were no other guests and no line.

Google
They have been serving you scraps as if the rationing the order. The burrito was wrapped twice within itself and as much egg inside a taquito. This wasn’t a flauta it was a breakfast burrito. This place even forgot part of my order and had to go back with no apology for the screw up.

Google
I hadn't been here in a long time. The meals are meager, and they make you regret stopping. The steak tacos are very tasty, though.

People here are extremely rude. If you order and decide to cancel it because you don’t want to purchase from them after all due to horrible customer service, they tell you, “well you have to cancel on your terms.” What the heck does that even mean? That is exactly what I’m doing. 🙄 don’t come here. Their shift manager Gloria is also as uneducated as the staff.

Raymond Lawrence

Google
First time at a taco cabana... It's something when the tacos here were better than the tacos I had in Juarez, Mexico. Spent three days in Mexico, and this was the first good meal I had all week! The brisket tacos were moist and flavorful. Good portion of meat in each. Chicken tortilla soup was also tasty.

Google
This place has gotten my order wrong on 3 occasions! I should’ve learned my lesson when this happened the first time but I wanted to believe it was a fluke. Each time, THERE ARE ALWAYS ITEMS MISSING! No one ever makes sure that they put everything in the order or what? This last time, we ordered via Door Dash & my husband called and asked for the toppings on the nachos to go on the side. We were told that they would, of course they didn’t. We got our nachos all soggy. Then of course, as always, missing items. Obviously no work ethic or pride in their work. DO BETTER TACO C!

Google
This place opens super early so it's great for those early morning food runs. Picked up 2 dozen breakfast tacos, chorizo with egg and bacon and egg for $21.99 each dozen, but if u do the TC mixed dozen its only $19.99 each dozen. Eggs were properly cooked thru, chorizo had a great flavor. Staff was courteous and friendly. Food came out fast and order was correct 👌.

Yelp
The food is about consistent as any other Taco Cabana I've been to (Tex Mex...not Mex food...there's a difference) This location doesn't have salsa available in the salsa bar area. They also don't voluntarily give napkins regardless is you're dining in or in the Drive-Thru. Sucked to have to go inside just to get napkins and then get handed 2... is there a Paper Shortage in El Paso?? Not sure what that's about... Clean and cool inside and out. The staff also very friendly.

Renae C.

Yelp
Worst food and customer service ever. Not sure how they are able to stay open. The Sm Ckn FJ Qsa meat was brunt and the cheese was only on the center of the tortillas , it was just terrible . 3 pack ch Flauta was dried out and the Cheese dip tastes like paste. The employees was rude and very unprofessional.

Zack S.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing service, love all the salsas! These guys never disappoint l! Thanks for always smiling and being amazing m!

Fabiola U.

Yelp
always getting our order wrong!! We ordered multiple things and only got a few things and when we told them hey we said this they wanna charge us again. Sodas tastes flat or taste nothing but water.

M S.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure sopapillas are supposed to look better than this. Every time I get food there, it's pretty good, but if you order online for delivery, they're probably gonna conveniently leave out the salsas and extra condiments that you pay extra for.

Mike B.

Yelp
If you're eager to try the absolute worst "Mexican" food in El Paso (and possibly the entire U.S.), check out Taco Cabana! Thursday must be "No Salsa Night" at TC, because, although I ordered lots of hot stuff, my burrito and tacos arrived with NONE -- zip, zero, nada. My (ground beef) burrito looked great on the outside, but contained, perhaps, two tablespoons of beef. The principal components were rice and refritos. I've eaten Mexican food all over this Country, and in much of Mexico. The bland fare served at TC would put Pabulum to shame.

Yelp
After the Pandemic, Taco Cabana just got worse! Still no salsa bar available. Margaritas have become weak, that's why they are 3 bucks! Ordered chicken nachos, they barely put little tiny pieces of chicken! It had more sour cream and beans slopped on top, with hardly any cheese. They also had guacamole on top! Never again will I order this item. Quesadilla had more cheese than chicken, my friend didn't like it, but liked her coconut margarita! Maybe one day they will improve!

Yelp
We decided to go to Taco Cabana as we were driving through El Paso and wanted something quick to eat. My partner had eaten here many years ago and said it was really good. I was hesitant as it had an overall Yelp rating of 3 stars. The drive-thru wait was quick and staff friendly. The food on the other hand was horrible. I got a Chicken Fajita Burrito. The tortilla was not warmed, it tasted as it was simply pulled out of the package and filled with ingredients. Then there were the ingredients. Everything was bland and the chicken tasted like canned chicken. The rice was hard and crunchy and the beans were cold. My partner got a Beef Fajita Taco and a Shredded Chicken Taco. The beef tasted like boiled beef and the chicken was way too salty. Needless to say we will not be going back ever again. I'd rather take my chances with Taco Bell. I'm only giving 1 star because zero stars is not an option.

Teresa J.

Yelp
This was my first time trying a Taco Cabana! I was shocked at how large the nachos were. It came in what looked like a pizza box and we ordered two, but one was plenty for my family to share! We also tried the bean and cheese burrito, a cheese quesadilla, and steak tacos. All were good for fast food. We would try this location again as well as more menu items.

Brianna C.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting. My rice was hard and crunchy as hell. Enchiladas was poorly executed. The only thing that tasted decent was the mushy beans. The worker in the drive thru seemed to be lost and couldn't get my order correct. Such a mediocre restaurant. Very disappointed.

Karla V.

Yelp
January 2021 Visited their Drive Thru. Ordered breakfast Tacos, some of the choices are Egg and Bacon, Potato and Egg, Egg and Chorizo and Bean. They serve Breakfast Tacos all day. The staff was attentive and asked me if I wanted any sauces, no sauces needed but breakfast was ready very quick. I will be Happy to come back and order more food.

Dan D.

Yelp
Walking distance from the hotel where I was staying, we wanted a quick bite and walked over with the dog. We sat on the patio and had a much needed $2 Margarita and quesadilla. The young lady was very friendly and brought the food out when ready. I forgot the salsa bar was not open due to covid. All else was good.

Qing L.

Yelp
Ordered a chicken fajita burrito.... The chicken is dry like chewing on a twig. And almost broke my teeth. The only saving grace is there aren't too many of these chicken meat in the burrito. Not happy at all.

Tony H.

Yelp
Wouldn't service me. They took so long taking an order . They wouldn't take my order at 10:02 . Dont recommend. I wish I could give 0 stars

Christa M.

Yelp
I was so happy to have finally tried this place out! I've seen them all over El Paso and I finally went on in! The line was pretty long Monday (must mean the food is good) around lunch time and it was moving very slow. We waited about 10 minutes until it was our turn. We had more then enough time to look over the menu while standing in line so we knew what we wanted. Our order was... Two orders of the steak street tacos One steak quesadilla One order of the chicken flautas (6) Two medium drinks. Our order came out to be around $30. When walking in we saw that there was a 20% military discount so yay why not use it. We showed the girl our id and she looked at it rather quickly and didn't say a word. She informed us our total once again told us to swipe our debit card. When walking to the table I noticed that she did not acknowledge our discount. Bummer. At this point I didn't care anymore and looking over the line was even longer, and I did not want to wait. We waited about 15 minutes for our food to come out. The fact that the steak tacos and flautas were delicious made up for the long wait. Great food, long wait? It's worth it. The quesadilla was not good and I would not order it again. The salsas were also pretty good but the salsa bar was DIRTY. *two stars because you can't be offering a discount if your not going to give it to your customers!

Ana Z.

Yelp
I don't know why this is even a place people come to. After living in the area for months, hearing people talk about it, advertisements, and constantly seeing the locations.... I finally went. I got fajitas and tacos. This brownie which was the only good thing about the meal. Chips which were a stale crunch. The meat on the food was terrible, I tried feeding it to my dog that eats everything and he wouldn't even stomach it. It tasted like soap, like it was run in a dishwasher. I don't think it was overly expensive, but it wasn't worth it.

Jose G.

Yelp
Taco Cabanna just isn't what it used to be. Ordered a quesadilla with steak and some nachos, I asked for my favorite sauces, and the girl with pink hair didn't bother to add any of the sauces that I asked for,or the sour cream and guac. When I drove back to go ask, she open the window and just stared at me and walked away. Luckily, I seen her shift manager and she was able to get me sauces. Finally when it was time to eat, the food was just meh.

Carlos M.

Yelp
Taco cabanas are usually good around the city, but not this one. Young management crew with the Dont care customer service attitude. I was here between 5 and 6 PM and the food was not up to par No taste at all and cold. I believe the only business they may be getting is from the holiday inn next door, maybe. Don't waste your time stopping here it's not worth it, sad.

Jenn M.

Yelp
We came in to get out of a storm and have a bite to eat, and apparently, OVERPAY. We ordered their kickin nachos. We asked for guacamole and beans on the side. NOT to go. We could barely hear the girl, Valerie. They brought it out in a to go box. I look at the receipt. She deleted the beans and guacamole and then added them AS A SIDE. That was another $2. It adds up with $3 drinks. Besides the FACT these nachos include guacamole and beans. We ate what we could, it was just okay but I wouldn't order them again. Just really disappointed as we usually like this restaurant although we've never been to this one. Won't be back.

Dang N.

Yelp
This place at best, is ok. Even the salsa bar is just ok. I ordered a single taco and some flautas. I wouldn't come back.

Christopher G.

Yelp
Solid location for a midnight Taco run. I am old enough to remember when there were only two locations in the State (both in SAT). It is annoying that there is no inside or outside seating at the moment, but 2020. The good news is that the food is still solid.

Susan T.

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect when we first decided to give this place a try. I'm not a fan of Taco Bell and was thinking this would be similar. I was thankful that it wasn't! The food tasted fresh and without any seasoning. It was also reasonably priced. My favorite out of all of them was the brisket taco. For the others I would have to add salt and pepper and they would be perfect! The employees were friendly and the restaurant clean. We enjoyed eating outside in the cooler morning air. I would come here again for sure!

Joseph M.

Yelp
BY FAR, the absolute WORST Taco Cabana in the city of El Paso. The service was despicable. It took almost 40 minutes before I got served, while I watched customer after customer get served before I just finally walked in listened to their weak excuse saying they forgot to bring it out. No apology, no offer of a refund until I told them to to give me one. I would recommend, virtually, any other restaurant in the city beside this one! 1 star only because I can't give a negative one. Point blank. Period.

Odette L.

Yelp
Was visiting El Paso and decided to stop and eat there since the hotel I was staying at was next door. It was really good had some breakfast and dinner there. The $2 to go Margaritas were so good! Good service as well.

Amanda L.

Yelp
I was going to wait to leave this review to see if they would fix my issue, but then I thought that doesn't change the fact that my food was unpleasant. I ordered today on 02/07/2023 and from the time I received my food to the time I returned home took a total of 10 minutes. I sat down right away to eat and my food was cold. Now there is no way on earth it could have been as cold as it was in that short amount of time. Absolutely everything on my plate was cold, the beans, rice, taco and enchilada. I am more than certain that food had been just sitting out for several hours. I put a complaint on their website which stated the restaurant would contact me. It's been more than 5 hours, and I know they aren't that busy making fresh food, seeing that they served us old stale food.

Paige B.

Yelp
It took over 45 minutes to get a burrito. What the f**k are they doing back there?? Killing chickens? Very sad, actually pathetic. The food was tasty and if I was in poor company I would not have stayed and waited. I would have took the loss and moved on with my day. The margaritas were good, I had two in the time it took for our food to come out. Will not return.

Shar M.

Yelp
I almost stopped at Olive Garden on my way back from Texas to San Diego but then I spotted a Taco Cabana & flipped a u-ie and made a beeline for it. This is the most tasty place you can stop as far as fast food goes. The quality is good and the flavors are rich and fulfilling. This location was great since it was right off the freeway. I ordered a two taco plate and it came with fresh tortillas on the side and Mexican rice, beans, and guacamole too. They have an extensive menu as far as combo plates and even dessert as well as a variety of drinks in addition to the soda fountain. The best thing is you can get a restaurant quality plate for under $10. My deal only came out to about $7 total including a drink.

Bonnie L.

Yelp
Open 24 hours. Drive thru. Had the chorizo and egg taco. It was good, but I thought it would have more flavor. Chicken flautas were delish with the guac and the queso. They are a little greasy though. The steak tacos were very flavorful and came with beans and rice. If you want something quick and tasty, try this place out

Anibal O.

Yelp
I dont know how people like this place, im not from here and i can say its the worse taco i have ever had. They screwed up my order twice. Rolled their eyes when i asked to use flour tortillas and on top of that the taco was just nasty.. so many local taco places i would choose something else.. not worth it. Didnt even finish my food went to andale down the street.

Nat W.

Yelp
I ordered two orders of the street tacos, only got one. It took at least 15 minutes to get the second one. When I got the orders, they were wrapped up as if it was a take out order. Wrapped up in foil, no tray or anything. Very disappointed in the service. Nothing like it used to be. Not only was my order bad, there were 2 other customers that had to come back to complain about their orders being not complete.

Gloria M.

Yelp
I tried ordering food for delivery and when I called the establishment they claimed not to have received anything. Grubhub also called multiple times but they never answered. Don't bother calling since they don't answer their phone.

Michael O.

Yelp
This review is not about the food I bought, as I like what I ordered. My beef is, I ordered a breakfast taco, came out to $1.50, I give the clerk $2. She asks me if I want my change?? What is that all about? TC teaching their people not to give back change due the customer? I am very disappointed. I am hoping that this not a practice that is part of Taco Cabana training.

Rosmond P.

Yelp
We ate here as soon as we got to TX from ca. We miss this place and the drinks. The wait was long but the food was good. Great taquitos and tacos and everything.

Chelle V.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way home from Dallas. We got there just as they were closing their lobby. So I guess the drive thru is open 24hrs but they do close the indoor restaurant seating at a certain time. They do have outdoor tables so thats where we sat. The reason we stopped here is because we wanted to taste the mexican food. Its so close to the border..must be good right? No..not especially. The tortillas tasted fresh and yeah the meat in my taco was super tender but I was disappointed by the bland flavor...it definitely needed condiments. We all left missing the mexican food served up by our fave LA food trucks.

Paisano C.

Yelp
Probably the nastiest dining experience I had. Website says closes at 1pm. Health dept should come in here and close it down. We walked in just before midnight. Young kid working wasn't able to articulate what was still available. I sinply asked for two steak taco's and nothing else. After I paid I walked around. The condiment area was filthy, hadn't been cleaned or touched in hours. I looked at the salsa, pepper bar area. Everything was old, mixed, slopped from on into the other and there was all kinds of food dropping all over the serving area, the top of it and the floor. I looked into the kitchen. Food and slop on the floor, knives and knife shapeners on the floor, a trash can overturned and big black rubber gloves coated with trash and food..one was on floor the other on food prep area. I tried to wave the person I was with off and warn him. He had already ordered. I asked for some onions and cilantro, the lady cooking the food told me to get my own from the bar. I told her it was disgusting and filthy. She ignored me. Some old guy with long grey hair and a baseball hat acted like he was a boss or a "Don" and told the girl to use fresh stuff on my tacos. He told us to come back in the morning and we would see a nice clean place. Guy was acting like an idiot and bragging about Taco Cabana...I ignored hin. Got the two tacos back to my hotel room next door. Opened them up, there was an obscene amount of onion on one and a mere pinch of cilantro on the other. The steak looked slimy and was cold. I THREW IT AWAY. Found out my coworker did the same thing. His were the same way. Never again a Taco Cabana. You failed us.

Catalin B.

Yelp
This is a top notch quick taco place. It doesn't have many thrills, just fast Tacos that are out of this world. Everything is awesome. The queso and grilled jalapeños option on tacos is always a good choice, so are the smoked brisket tacos. The frozen margaritas are great as well. The last day I was here I split the breakfast box with a friend, it was pretty epic. The best were the bacon and egg tacos. I honestly have not found one thing to dislike about this place and would recommend it to anyone.

Jackie M.

Yelp
Love this place... They had me at the drive-thru where you could order a margarita, a real margarita... I'm from the east coast so we don't have those options here, and the margarita was actually pretty good. I ordered I believe it was the Torta it was delicious. Made my son bring me back the day before I left El Paso just so I can get my last Torta and drive-thru margarita!

Cassande G.

Yelp
I really didn't like the food at all but they do provide great customer service. They even offer you a military discount which was nice. I really won't try it again to be honest. It was a poor representation of Mexican food.

Tracy T.

Yelp
I had placed my cup and tent on the table. The hostess placed the cleaning rag on my table. She left the rag there for about 2 minutes,

Travis C.

Yelp
They have several different salsa choices on their salsa bar. They cook your order fresh to order and the tortillas are made in house too. Most of the ingredients that can be made in house are made here. The service is friendly and they'll bring your food out to your table after you order at the register. The place is kept pretty clean too.

Kelly P.

Yelp
First time customer, drive thru was hard to understand talked to at least 3 different people must be training or something, food was fair at best , tacos were small chips were stale and the nachos were just a mess threw together and shoved in the bag the lid wasn't even on the container . Condiments were so small , a tablespoon of Pico does not go very far with chips . Not a good value we won't be going back

Katherina L.

Yelp
I hadn't been to this location in awhile and now I remember why. The customer service lacks. I ordered for pickup and wanted to try some margaritas. The wait for my pickup order in the drive thru lasted longer than it should have since they messaged me it was ready for pickup. It almost seemed like they misplaced my order. The lady who took my order was rude and rushed me. I'd rather take my business elsewhere than try this location again.

Epic Railyard E.

Yelp
Went at 5:30 pm to get my 94 yr old mom food as she wanted Taco Cabana. Ordered two tacos with chips and queso and it comes with a small drink, through the drive thru. At the window i was given a LGE tea so full that as she handed it to me, the excess spilled on my car, coat, and pants. Girl didn't even apologize until I said "Really"? Decided to check my order before i moved. No salsas were included. I did not move my car until she had to open the window again as cars were backing up. Someone else came and opened the window and said Yes? I told her no salsas in bag and she said you have to ASK for salsa! Girl who spilled on me got a bag of salsas, turned so her back was to me and handed them out the window! WOW!!! If my mom wasn't at home waiting, i would have gone inside to speak to a mgr.

Raul Q.

Yelp
Terrible food portions apparently I was given "3 oz" of guacamole and it looked like a spoonful . Mario provided great customer service but will avoid this location at all costs

David L.

Yelp
wish i could rate less. got home one of my meals was missing. food was cold when we got it. all around bad experience. dumpster juice!!!!

Osariemen E.

Yelp
I purchased the beef enchilada plate, which comes with tortilla. My order was made to go, and unfortunately didn't look as nice when i got to my destination, due to traveling. However, food tasted great! I will be back.

Dannielle T.

Yelp
I've eaten at this Taco Cabana a few times since moving to the area. It's always clean inside and there's never a line to order, at least during the times I've gone. You walk in and order and then find your seat and they bring your food to you. They have a salsa bar that's super yummy. I love all of them, seriously! My favorite is their pico. Especially on the street tacos. They're small though, I can eat like six. The last time I went they had crispy street tacos which are my favorite. I hope they make them permanent on the menu. Also my first time having sopapillas was here. Sooo good. I prefer them with honey instead of dulce. My husband loved them with dulce though, definitely try them if you've never had them!

Eugene R.

Yelp
What happed?? It's been about 10 months since I returned to taco cabaña. It was a weekend destination for us practically every week. We were extremely surprised to find the prices were raised by a dollar or two and the did away with the margarita pitcher. We ordered 2 margaritas. Totaling almost 13.00. The pitcher was 14.00. The cups they serve them are the small cups and 13 bucks. What a rip-off. Food is ok but you can get better and cheaper at a lot of other El Paso restaurants.

Heidi K.

Yelp
Great food and friendly quick service! We ordered street tacos, a burrito, and 2 kids meals in the drive trough. The attendant was very friendly and smiling at the window. Our food was fresh and hot. It tasted great and came with extra salsas that were also delicious. The pricing was pretty affordable for our family. We will be going to this location again and will recommend to friends and family!
