On the Grid : Rocky's Tacos

"We’re not sure why it’s called Rocky’s Tacos and not Rocky’s Tortas because their “Super Tortas Futboleras” are the reason to visit this soccer-themed restaurant. With over 78 different versions of the Mexican sandwich and consistently fresh bread, this is like the torta mecca. Pro tip: Get the pico de gayo that comes with ham and if you go in after 5p during the week there’s a good chance you’ll be ordering from Rocky himself." - Bark Design

On the Grid : Susie's Drive-Thru

"Hotdog stands are rare in these parts but Susie’s is worth the trip. Voted one of “America’s 10 Best French Fries” by Food Network Magazine, check out the “Footsie Footsie”, a foot-long polish sausage on a sesame seed bun with double grilled onions and mustard. Or grab one of their famous shakes that come in 65 different flavors (how is that possible?). Open 24 hours." - Bark Design

I've driven past this place numerous times and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I ordered a chicken burrito. The size was very small compared to other Mexican restaurants I've been to. Most burrito places have to wrap their burritos really tight in foil and paper to keep all of the fillings from spilling out. Definitely not the case here. I should have known when I opened my bag to find the burrito in a small styrofoam container. The container was very light. Not a good sign when ordering a burrito. Took my first bite and was utterly disappointed. This was the first Mexican burrito I've had that only had chicken(very small amount), lettuce, tomatoes and avocado with two tiny containers of salsa. Where's the rice, beans and cilantro? That what I expected to find in a typical burrito. I wouldn't even classify this as a Mexican burrito. This is some bastardized American version that should be on a Taco bell menu. Honestly, I could have spent the same amount of money or even less at Taco bell and left satisfied. I should have read the reviews before I stopped in.

Google
Horrible service. Staff always has a crappy attitude and couldn't care less about patrons. Also, very slow and they often make mistakes with orders. Prices are way too high considering the portions are fairly small. On a positive note, the quality of the food has been decent and the drive through can come in handy on cold days. Wish the management would address the overall employee performance and portion sizes. UPDATE: May 1st 2025 Decided to give them another shot and was disappointed, again. Ordered $17 enchiladas. Nice picture on their website. Reality was pitiful. Rice was cold. Enchiladas were the size of small hot dogs. No avocado. Seems there's no commitment to quality/quantity. That was the last time I eat at this, or any other location.

Google
The food portion was terrible, barely any meat in my steak taco or barely any pork in the torta I tasted the beans more than the meat. Very disappointed. Even the portion of the fries was bad. Only good thing really was the green salsa. The food tasted ok. Definitely not going back. They got me on my $20. No pictures bc I was hungry lol

Google
$30 for 1 burrito 2 plain tacos 2 orchatas and dude of rice. Look at my pic of the burrito. Barely any meat. Tacos were so small my kid ate them so fast and was still hungry. I understand inflation but not serving less food of a standard burrito. I will not go there again.

Google
I have went twice to this location late and I either don’t get anyone to take my order through the drive thru or by the time I get to the drive thru, waiting for the car in front of me to finally move, they tell me they are closed after I waited 7 minutes to get to the speaker and it’s barely fifteen minutes to closing time. They supposedly close at 2am. NEVER AGAIN.

Google
Passing by decided to give it a shot had only 2 tacos steak and chicken both were moist and took cilantro and onion as garnish . I went to sit in patio which is limited seating..about 12 total seats they served chips and salsa which is old school and a winner with me salsa that came with was very good especially the green one !! Tacos were tasty service was no problem food was brought to table will be back to try other plates in the future . Parking lot available also.

Google
Late night meal before work . Had nachos with steak to go, not bad, definitely feeds 2. Horchata wasn't too sweet. Comes with red and green sauce. Will be returning to this location.

Google
The food was very delicious and great price! The burrito was stuffed with just the right amount of meat and veggies. The rice and beans were delicious! And the horchata was absolutely amazing! The green salsa absolutely hit the spot.

Yelp
Jazmin is a Rock Star. I'm late in sending in this this big thanks and thumbs up to the whole team at Toco Pros Montrose. Jazmin oversaw a large order for a student event we hosted. Everyone was thrilled with the food. And I was thrilled and relieved by the professional service--Again! Bravo, all!

Yelp
Taco Pros is an emerging chain of Mexican restaurants. There is a location of Taco Pros on Montrose near Elston that was the longtime spot of the former Susie's hot dog and shake joint. Taco Bros basically kept the old footprint, so there is a counter and a couple of chairs for dining in, a few tables in the outdoor patio, a drive-thru window and free parking spots. We went there during a special weekend promo peddling $1 tacos (yup, one measly dollar) with a limit of 2 tacos per order. The service was pleasant and prompt, and we were given a generous number of salsa cups (the green salsa was quite zingy, the not-as-hot red salsa was more palatable to me). I enjoyed my al pastor and ground beef tacos, while my lovely wife liked her shrimp and steak tacos. We both agreed that the smallish tacos were a bargain for a buck each, but at regular price (around $4 per taco depending on the filling) we might not have enjoyed them as much. Interesting to note that there did not seem to be any menu with prices displayed inside, so keep an eye out on what you are spending.

Yelp
Taco Pros locations have been seemingly popping up all around the city. We sampled cheap tacos here when Taco Pros opened up on Montrose Ave. in Albany Park, close to our house. The $1 tacos were part of their opening promo. The steak and shrimp tacos were definitely not bad at all, but with so many endearing mom-and-pop shops in the area selling baller tacos, I find the price vs. quality ratio at Taco Pros to be not too compelling. Given they do have parking, that could be a draw for some. Keep in mind, there is not a wealth of inside seating. Service was fast, but lacked in the friendliness category. There is nothing exactly inviting about the space. I may go back to check out a burrito, which is priced pretty fairly at this time, per their online ordering system, but nothing else is really pulling me to go back anytime soon.

Yelp
PRO Syle steak tacos, ordered 2, they didn't understand what Pro meant and they work there? Good tortillas, flavor was good, too many pieces in one taco where inedible? 1st time eating there, way to expensive! 11 dollars for 2 tacos? One and done!

Yelp
Drove through late at night - got a protein bowl. Took some time, but it was tasty. Good spot to grab a late night dinner. I'll be back.

Yelp
Super busy day at work called and ordered 10 steak tacos for pick up...3 of them with everything and 7 with Cilantro and onion and guac and chips. Picked up 10 chicken tacos all with Cilantro and onion. Not what we ordered and no time to go back and complain. Had to eat them and chicken was chewy and dry and why did they give chips from last month? Called to complain and she was very rude not even a little apologetic...customer service skills not apparent. I paid $70 for 10 steak tacos and picked up 10 dry chicken tacos. I mentioned to the rude woman that I would be giving a negative yelp her response? Ok thank you!

Yelp
Two shrimp tacos and a jarrito...change outta $10 Best tacos I ever had Seriously excellent tacos

Yelp
Slightly salty beans. Chicken was flavorful. Ordered the buy 1 get 1 free taco dinner off Uber eats! $30 in total with added toppings so slightly pricy but got a lil discount.

Labebi A.

Yelp
I used to love going here for the fresh food and prices were lower than any other taco spot around, but recently they've gone downhill. The food is more expensive now with smaller portions. My steak tacos were fatty and much less filled than other visits. The side of fries was so tiny it was laughable (and it comes with an upcharge w/the dinner) They charge $9 for a cheese quesadilla, like cmon really?! I'll skip this place next time and go to taquizas valdez.

Yelp
I was a bit nervous to try this place but I'm glad I tried it. Their asada tacos and bowls are delicious, a bit pricey but I think the meat quality is good. Their green salsa is my fav... totally giving them 5 stars

Shawana T.

Yelp
the food was excellent! the cashier was very polite and greeted me upon arrival. My tacos were fresh and hot.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Ordered delivery through door dash on a Saturday night. Tried the chicken, barbacoa, pork, and steak tacos. All were phenomenal. Arrived in under 20 minutes, too. 10/10.

Hubaab M.

Yelp
Basic taco spot. They've given me the wrong order one time but other than that solid food.

Jose P.

Yelp
Service is the worst. What's point of having a phone number if they don't pick up? Customer service is terrible, it just feels like they were forced to make a business no one wanted

Yelp
I LOVE TACO PROS. I'm so happy this is in the neighborhood. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious. The indoor dining area is just right for a quick meal and all of the staff is friendly.

Al L.

Yelp
Negatives: a bit pricy for the hood. Drive thru is slow. Positives: Food is very good and well prepared. Service is friendly. Ingredients are fresh. The positives way out weigh the few negatives.

John R.

Yelp
This place opened up in my neighborhood recently, so thought I'd give it a try. I ordered a barbacoa burrito and 2 ground beef taco's. The barbacoa in the burrito was tough, dry, and very bland. The ground beef taco's were just as bad. No flavor. Maybe they will get better, but I would not recommend.

Yelp
I really liked their food. Simple, quick taco joint in the neighborhood. My hubby and I stopped by after the gym. Good place for quick food.

Rudy H.

Yelp
This could be a five star taco joint, but they need to lay off on the salt. Chill out on the salt. I hope management reads this and tells their employees to stop with the excessive salt.

Sebastian P.

Yelp
Bad service, take so long the drive thru 20 min waiting, the staff is so rude, please don't go
google avatar

Noah F.

Yelp
I tried the steak, chicken, and pork tacos. Overall really good and maybe one of the best I've had. The salsas and limes were fresh and flavorful. Only downside is they don't wrap the tacos in foil, which helps keep them warm for carryout. RIP SUSIES.

Carlos M.

Yelp
Very good. Price is pretty good dispite inflation. My new go to place. Highly recommend

Gustavo O.

Yelp
Garbage service sat there for 5 mins guy was eating food and told the other guys you have a customer. And the cook made a stupid remark! Telling everyone in Albany park not to go here!! Negative star

Andy Y.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Their steak is high quality, not full of fat like some other local Taco places. Their sauces are amazing too; just the right balance of taste and spiciness. The horchata was sweet and flavorful, not watered down. After Taco Max closed on Elston earlier this year we've been looking for a solid replacement. This is it.

Edward Ramon B.

Yelp
Wow! Fast friendly service... Nice ambiance and a really nice addition to the neighborhood. Perfect late night spot.

Sterling B.

Yelp
Great food, amazing staff, would definitely recommend for a quick bite. Try the green salsa!

Carlton B.
