They know what they're doing and do it well. The churro came hot and filled with cream. The fried fish tacos were crisp and hot with lots of fresh veggies and the single chili relleno was cheesy, crisp based on a real chili. Great place for a light lunch

Just a killer place. If you don't know them by now look them up on youtube. They have a killer California burrito that is worth the drive from anywhere in the country. Great owner fantastic ingredients and staff.

Exactly what you’d want out of a San Diego taco shop. Food comes out fast and hits the spot. Tried both a breakfast and cali burrito, both were terrific. Burritos are massive and there’s no skimping on the meat.

Taco Surf PB has the perfect vibe for a restaurant near the beach. Surf pictures and boards cover the ceilings and walls, and the service is fantastic. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and gave helpful recommendations. I had the five rolled tacos (beef), and it was good, but then I had a bite of my wife's surf & turf burrito, and it's on a whole other level. Honestly, don't waste time on anything else. The surf & turf burrito is dream-worthy, and I was filled with regret about my own order. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back.

$14.50 for 2 tacos rice and beans. Normally I would compliant about the price of Mexican food and the lack of what you get. It this place is no normal portion spot. I’m having the two fried fish tacos where jam packed with flavor and not greasy but crispy and juicy. The rice and bean are typical solid quality aids. The two tacos were more than worth the price. So filling that I am writing this review while I’m the restaurant. If you in SD and want food near the beach. This is the spot to stop. Parking in the back off the busy street and the lady and gentleman in the back was loud, articulate, and ready to serve with a smile. They have a very large menu, but I felt very comfortable with how they help me navigate the choices and apparently they have the best burrito in San Diego voted. We got a couple of those also. 5 ⭐️

We really enjoyed the Build Your Own Breakfast Burrito. Both our Burritos were quite Delicious and perfectly made. The manager and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

$14 for a weak breakfast burrito? I counted two small pieces of sausage and the cheese wasn’t even melted. Not sure where the 20% tip went because they couldn’t be bothered to bring it to me outside even though there was nobody else in the restaurant. Used to love coming here but it’s not the same place anymore. We won’t be coming back.

We wanted to try a classic California burrito while in town, and this place blew our minds! We loved our burritos so much that we came back again the next day. Food was fresh and delicious; staff was super kind; and the atmosphere was very laid back and cozy. What a town gem!

Haven been here in a decade and o remembered it being so good... my daughter and I were disappointed. The carne asada was tough and flavorless, the quesadillas could have used some moisture. Rolled tacos looked good with a mountain of cheese but they were filled with ground beef, not shredded. It was odd. The guacamole was alright. Seasons would have helped all of it. The restaurant was clean and the service was nice. It did say award winning burrito for breakfast. Unfortunately I would not return.

Cool little spot in PB. Got the Surf and Turf Burrito. Full and flavor and deliciousness. 9.7/10 If the burrito was wrapped a little tighter would have been perfect. Will definitely come back

The service here was great! The person at the register was very inviting and helped me choose between options. Of course, the interior is super cool, with a bunch of surfboards and stickers all around. Chicken Asado Torta ($15)- Huge portions, very flavorful and juicy. The meat was tender and juicy. I'd recommend putting the salsa verde for a kick.

The food was great, and we loved the casual ambiance. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we easily figured out what we wanted. The fish tacos were delicious and I still can't decide if I liked the grilled or fried more - my husband and I shared so we had one of each and both were very tasty. We will be back!

Cute and inviting taco joint not far from the beach. Came in right when they opened for some breakfast burrito. They had a wall showcasing their past awards and I somewhat approve. The burrito was HUGE and full of ingredients but lacked in taste. Really liked the tatertots - a nice twist just wished the meat was tastier :( Place is cute and clean. Lady in the front was just ok. Not much love in the encounter.

A little disappointed that the burrito size here appears to have gotten much smaller. What was one a huge hunk of meat is now nearly the size of a Taco Bell burrito. New pic added for comparison. My hands are very tiny and so was this Cali burrito :(

The portion sizes of the burritos here are huge! Me and my partner shared 2 fish tacos and the surf & turf burrito and were so full after! The fish tacos were good, nothing super special just your standard fish tacos. The surf & turf burrito was full of meat, the meat to rice ratio was so good I would say it was 85-90% meat and the rest was rice so definitely felt like we got our moneys worth (sorry for no photo of the inside of the burrito). I also got the horchata which was just your standard horchata nothing special. I will say that the salsas here do leave something to be desired, they tasted pretty watered down the green salsa tasted like water with a slightttt hint of pepper then the red one tasted less watered down and had a Smokey flavor but was definitely disappointed by the watered down tasting salsas. Service was good, the place was packed since it was the weekend but we got our food fast since you just order at the counter then they call your number out to go get your order when it's ready. The interior is pretty cool! I liked all the surfboards hanging from the ceiling and along the wall, definitely casual beach vibes that suit this PB location. Overall, I would come back for the surf & turf burrito since I was so impressed by the meat to rice ratio but don't think anything else I got is really a 'wow I want to have that again' I think if they improved their salsas I would be more inclined to come back!

The burrito was so huge it could have fed 2 without a problem. Carne asada and beans could both have used a little more flavor. The orange bang drink tasted like an orange creamcicle. The staff were nice. Nice open atmosphere inside.

Recommended by a friend and so glad he did. Food is amazing no thrills or frills. We got: Chicken fajita plate 2 Carne asada burritos one with enchilada sauce 2 Mahi mahi tacos with four tortilla Shrimp taco with flour tortilla We got rice and beans on side as well Food comes out on a paper plate and trays. The three big sauces they had are all so favorable and distinct. None were overly spicy. Each item was really good. I enjoyed my fish tacos the most. Def a must try place!

This was one of the first things we ate when we landed in SD. Food: We ended up getting a fish taco and a surf and turf burrito. Eating fish tacos in SD just hits differently. i don't know if its the air/environment or freshness of the seafood, but biting into the fish taco was heavenly. the burrito was also delicious and packed a punch. It was a lot of food for two people. They also provide sauces, but be careful some of them are extremely spicy. Service: The person working in the front is extremely friendly. Interior: The inside seats about 20-25 people? But what's cool is that they dedicate the inside to the history of surfing. They have old surfboards on the ceiling and walls, and they also have old newspaper articles showing different people and spots of surfing. The best part about this spot, is that they have orange bang. honestly if a restaurant carries orange bang, that's automatically a win in my book. I wish orange bang was nationally, so i can enjoy it while in texas :(

This place has been on my bookmarks for a while and I am glad I was able to visit. I enjoyed their traditional, beef crunchy tacos with loads of cheese on the top! The service was nice and quick. The place is very casual and was pretty busy. It seems like a burrito is the way to go around here. Everyone was scarfing down one haha. The soft tacos are okay, the tortillas kept breaking on us. So I highly recommend a fried taco or burrito when coming here!

I've been coming here for a long time and used to love this place, but felt to share what happened to me today! I ordered a California burrito to go--paid extra for cheese and sour cream--and ended up with a $18 burrito that was basically just fries and carne asada. Not even tomato, lettuce, the basic stuff, and on top of that It used to come with way more. Honestly, it felt like I paid premium price for half the product. It's not the first not even second time this has happened, but it was the first time I decided to say something. I went in calmly, just to share my feedback. I wasn't rude, I wasn't asking for a refund--just being honest. And the woman behind the counter was incredibly rude from the start. No apology, no understanding. Instead, she snapped, "I'll give you another burrito if you give me the one you ate." When I explained that I had ordered as take out, already eaten it at the beach, she said something that honestly sounded like a suggestion to throw it up if I didn't like it. Yes--you read that right. It was sarcastic, condescending, and completely out of line. I wasn't asking for anything free. Just some basic respect as a loyal customer. A "sorry" would've been enough. Instead, I was met with attitude and humiliation. Sadly, I was unlucky enough to don't get what I ordered plus getting tons of disrespect

Oh damm- a go to every trip!! Best tacos, quesadillas, rice , beans, service, it's all beachy and good. Remodeled since last visit, still all good vibes inside. Love looking at all the stickers and surfboards inside. Fresh and clean atmosphere!

Build your own California burrito!! Say less! Delicious and the service was fast and easy! Parking is a little hectic but other than that this place is great for their California burritos. Will definitely come back and try other food items here!

Came here to try a breakfast burrito, no wait and cool decor, really has that surfer dude vibe. The lady behind the counter wasn't the friendliest though, not rude but just not very welcoming or nice. The burrito itself was great, warm and I liked how it included multiple types of meat so you don't have to choose only one.

By far one of the best breakfast burritos I have ever had!!! This was my first time trying this spot! It's located in the perfect area! I love the fact that you can build your own burrito! Their California burritos are also very good!! They're different but really good. The staff is so nice and accommodating. The location is so nice and clean as well! There's a lot of street parking nearby too and it's 2 blocks away from the beach!

I ordered online and selected the pick up in store option. The food was ready when I showed up and the server at the Front was friendly and attentive. They have plenty of seating indoor and it's a very casual spot right by the beach :-) I ordered the grilled fish burrito but did feel that it was lacking in flavor. It was supposed to come with some chipotle sauce, but it didn't really shine through, so it was just missing that extra oomph. I will say it was pretty light for a burrito though. I would probably ordered something different next time but be willing to give this place another shot.

ordered a lot and they helped me to pack it well and make it easy to carry. the food was plentiful but not the absolute best that I've had. I'd like carne asada to be more tender and likewise the beef in the rolled tacos to be more savory. but overall not a bad lunch for a lot of people. thankful for their accuracy

My favorite spot to get burritos when we visit San Diego beach. The burritos are huge and so delicious. Such a cute beach vibe with the surfboards. The service is always amazing. Tried a tasty churro this time.

I went to check it out after seeing a couple of youtube videos. Yes the burrito was HUGE! But it was definitely a gringo burrito with no seasoning. Even the salsas had no real flavor. I brought 1/2 of it home for dinner. I put it in a microwave bowl with the red & green salsas they gave me, COVERED it with tajin and black pepper. Three minutes in the microwave and it was WONDERFUL. Plus for parking spaces behind the restaurant that seems to be a secret. I will probably go to Oscars next time I am in the PB area.

I was super pumped to come here after watching the YT Gareth episode. Got the burrito and wow what an absolute let down. Quality of ingredients were mids at best and there was hardly any flavor. Tried adding the salsas but those were nothing special as well. Craftsmanship of the burrito also lacking, fell apart as I ate it. I appreciate it being huge, but honestly something smaller with better taste and that held together would be preferred. I got the sense they made Gareth's with more care since he was going to filming/advertising it for them. Which probs was true, but damn, ate a third of it, trashed it, then went home to eat something else. Weak burrito.

Taco serve is the first taco spot that I visited in San Diego and after six years, it's still my favorite. The location is top-notch and the tacos and burritos are even better. The service is good. The cashier is always nice and the food comes out relatively quickly. I like to have a place to sit, but I always get it to go to eat on the beach. Get the fish tacos

We drove in from AZ straight to this place to start our 18th anniversary celebration ! We ate here in 2022 for the first time celebrating our 16th anniversary! So good that we had to come back. This place is so good! The service is amazing! It's clean and decorated with surfboards all over the ceiling. The atmosphere is fun, witty and friendly. The food needs no hype! Letting y'all know we drove here and hit this place up straight from the desert should speak volumes. I had the potato taco, chicken taco, rice and beans. My love had the surf and turf shrimp burrito!! Delicious! Bomb! Tasty! The red salsa is so so good! And they give good portions. We were so full. I'm so glad we could walk across the street and walk along the beach. Beautiful day and times!

I ordered everything a la carte because I wanted one taco and one chile relleno with rice and beans. It cost $25 to order it this way, which they accommodated, but I was a shocked at the high price for the quality of food. The taco was cold because of all the guacamole piled on top which was delicious, but should be served on the side to preserve the temp of the meat in the taco. The chile relleno was super soggy with all the vegetables and way too much cheese (sauce?) on top. And my son's "California burrito" was cold too. Way too many soggy veggies, no rice and beans, and the sour cream made it cold. This was disappointing. Not going back. Ambience is nice though with surf boards and nice for tourists.

Taco Surf rolled into Pacific Beach in 1989. It sits right on Mission Blvd, just north of Garnet Avenue. Carne asada is just one of the best items at Taco Surf. They use top sirloin and cook each item to order. The meat never sits after it's cooked. Their tacos are the best in San Diego. Tortilla soup is one of the favorites also. The tomato broth has a great piquant flavor. You can choose fresh grilled chicken or shrimp. Their salsa: GREAT !!Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is served every day. Check the huge menu on their website for daily specials. Taco Surf is an incredibly excellent place to eat ... it is a locally owned business. The staff is over the top friendly.. try it & you'll be a regular.

Really great fresh Mexican food. My absolute favorite in San Diego, which is saying a lot. Their breakfast burrito with hash browns is an absolute must. Their salsa is made fresh everyday and really tastes like it. We walked in one day and asked what was in it and he showed up a blender full of tomatoes and peppers and herbs. It tastes so fresh! The owner is also an awesome dude that accommodates when ordering for large groups! I used to order burritos for a large team and he would go out of his way to accommodate us

Love this place, a San Diego staple for years. The food is awesome, the decor is rad and the service is friendly! I have been coming here since the early 90's and have never had a bad meal. Even with the change of owners, the food is just as awesome. The decor is perfect for a beach taco shop, tons of surfboards hanging from the ceiling. I believe a good friend donated one. Service has always been great. Takes a bit longer than other places, the food is cooked fresh. But everyone has a smile on their faces and go the extra step to accommodate you!

It was my first time here. I ordered a carne asada burrito with : beans,sour cream, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes . It was delicious and filling. I was only able to eat half per they are pretty big. Also their tortillas are pretty authentic not fake. I highly recommend this place.

They say a sucker is born every minute, and I guess it's happy birthday to me and my husband ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We saw a sign by the cash register for carne asada breakfast burritos with eggs, hash browns, and bacon and ordered off of that. There wasn't a price listed for it, so I was SHOCKED when the cashier said our total was $39-something. For two breakfast burritos and one drink, it's such a rip-off! I was hoping the burrito would at least be good, but that was a disappointment as well. It was just greasy and there was no depth of flavor. There was a dinky amount of hash browns in it and it didn't provide a good crunch. I thought it came with tater tots, but it turns out that's an extra charge as well. The textures fell flat, and the carne asada was disappointing. I got tired of the taste halfway through the burrito. To make it worse, my tortilla was stale and hard! First off, I think they should be listing the breakfast burrito prices on their menu. They must be aware of how overpriced it is. Second, they should have some quality control over their burritos-- there's no reason for hard, crusty tortillas when it's a key ingredient in almost everything on the menu. I don't get the positive reviews at all. Customer service was lackluster. The ONLY positive thing I can say about this place is the green salsa is good, and I had to douse every bite of the burrito with it. If it weren't for the green salsa, I'd have had even worse of an experience.

We stopped by this morning to try the breakfast burrito after watching a GarethEats YouTube video--and we're so glad we did! The surfboards hanging from the ceiling immediately gave off those laid-back beach vibes, and the place was clean with the mouthwatering smell of eggs and bacon in the air. The service was quick and friendly--our order was taken with a smile and came out in no time, which made the whole experience even better. We ordered the Carne Asada Breakfast Burrito, and wow--this thing is massive! It's fully loaded with steak, bacon, eggs, and crispy hash browns (the hash browns really made it for me). Next time, I might even ask for extra hash browns! The red salsa was a standout--flavorful with just the right kick of spice. I love spicy salsa, and this one added to the burrito without overpowering it. Another plus? It wasn't drenched in cheese or sour cream, which we appreciated. So many breakfast burritos we've tried before are heavy on dairy, masking all the other flavors--but not this one. It was easily enough for two people, and we're already planning to come back and explore more of the menu. Highly recommend!

An excellent choice when in PB for delicious Mexican Food. Cool beach style decor and a super clean dining area. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Their surf and turf nachos are so good you'll decide to come back for more regardless how far you live from here. With several patio tables available, you can enjoy their food and drink options all fresco. Parking is limitedbit you'll be able to find street parking nearby. Just be patient. Their fried fish taco is yummy too! Be sure to give them a try when in town.

When you're watching Gareth on YouTube point out his favorite SD taco shops as you're waiting for the hurricane to come, it's hard not to want to hop in your car and grab a burrito. That's exactly what my husband and I did before the storm hit. We arrived at Taco Surf around 9:30am on a Sunday with a handful of people already seated in the restaurant. Thanks to the rain, it was a ghost town so we were able to get right in, place our order, and back home with our precious cargo in no time. My husband ordered the carne asada breakfast burrito and added bacon to it (just like Gareth recommended on his channel) while I made my own with egg, tater tots, bacon, and light cheese. It was delicious, very filling, and I still have my other half in the fridge waiting for me to eat it tomorrow. The shop is super clean, service impeccable, and prices on point with what you'd expect so close to the coast.

5 tacos and 1 enchilada was $40 and it was pretty mid in all honesty. The process for online ordering was simple and the worker was friendly at pick up. I think I would try somewhere else in the future.

Breakfast Burrito. Nothing special about it and for the price it's not worth it. Better places around the area for way less. But clean place and friendly service.

Food is good but the people who work their are very rude. I messed up my order and tried to call them and explain what happened but they did not want to help out. Just plain rude

I ordered my food from Uber Eats. Uber Eats did their job delivering it, but Taco Surf did not do their job giving me what my husband and I ordered (#177), which was two cheese enchiladas and one burrito. Instead, I got a chicken taco, and I don't eat meat. Whomever the person I spoke with told me to call Uber Eats, and maybe they would refund me. Taco Surf, is a bad review worth it? You could have done the right thing and given me a credit for a future order. This is not good business. I'll be sure to check on my review because if it is removed, I'll repost it.

Exceptional Breakfast Burritos! I needed a nap after eating just half. Premium ingredients and definitely shareable.

Have been wanting to come here for years and finally stopped in for Taco Tuesday last week. $4 beef, chicken, potato or baja fish tacos. I had a chicken, potato and fish. I did not expect them to be full size(big) tacos. Everything was delicious. I especially liked the crispy parts of the potatoes in the potato taco. Gave it that extra Service was great and the inside decor fits the area perfectly.

This place SUCKS now. Paid over $16 (!) dollars for a gross, dry carne asada burrito. It's more like chewy ground beef than it is asada. Specifically asked the guy if there was guacamole. It was such a small amount that I couldn't taste or see it until I got to the end of the burrito-- a miserable little dollop concentrated all the way at the bottom. No salsa verde in my bag. It kind of ruined my day. Save your money and time and go down the street to Los Dos Pedro's for a cheaper and far better burrito. Or Oscar's for some fish tacos. I will never go here again.

Haven't been in awhile and regretted it. Food is bland carne asada has no flavor. Asked if guacamole was fresh and told it was but clearly it's not! Bland no flavor at all just a gloop of avocado looking stodgy. The size of portion is generous but that just means more bland food which is a negative. And for the price just a complete waste of money. I know TS has been in PB for a lifetime but sad to see the food become so awful. From reading other rave reviews I I guess they cater to tourons who think they are getting authentic mx food.

Food was good. The tacos were a lot bigger than expected. Staff was very nice. I think the prices are moderate for Mexican food but hey, it's California so things cost more.

My order is constantly messed up here - I ordered a build your own burrito with sour cream, tater tots, beans, avocado. There was NO avocado and half the burrito was mushrooms...

The location and food is amazing. HOWEVER!!! The lady who is taking peoples orders at the Moment on 4/4/2024 @ 1:07 pM was super RUDE ! She Didn't say hello, welcome, didn't say thank you or my pleasure , she didnt even offer us drinks to go With our food. We are PB locals and she treated us like outsiders- I wouldn't keep an employee that didn't bring good vibes to the table- she wasn't friendly and act like she was bothered by having to take our order ! I would highly recommend some better workers with better attitudes and someone who acts like they appreciate your business. She act like she's is pissed off at the world . The food would had tasted better if her attitude was better !

The real deal Taco and Burrito joint in Mission Beach. Full disclosure I've been coming here for years and only order the Rolled Tacos and Surf and Turf Burrito and both are excellent. S&T Burrito is overstuffed with carne asada and shrimp and utterly delicious. Rolled tacos are crispy and delicious. Beach food at its finest.

This was a spot my girlfriend and I hit up on the way home and we were pleased by the results. You walk in and there are surfboards all over the ceiling. They also had plenty of awards on another side of the wall that sealed the deal for how good the breakfast burritos were. Thats what my girlfriend and I both had. What made it so great was that when you picked up your order, they hand you a bottle of salsa to enjoy with it. Just imagine, you take a bite and squeeze some on the exposed burrito. Do it again, and again, and again....I wish we had a place like that around where I live. I will definitely go back and recommend anyone who in Pacific Beach to go there if you want a legit Breakfast Burrito.

Omg what's not to like! There's a huge menu here but you can customize breakfast burritos and vegetarian burritos (possibly meat ones too, don't remember) all for the same flat price of $10, which is amazing deal. We got breakfast burritos and they're HUGE. I got eggs, bacon, hash browns, pico, cheese, and guacamole. They also gave us both green and red sauce to take with us. We ate them on the beach and they were just incredible, especially with both salsas.
