Taco Tita is a must-visit spot! The service was awesome, and the burrito I had was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor and perfectly made. The friendly taco maker lady added such a warm and welcoming vibe to the experience. Highly recommend stopping by!

Tortillas were a bit stale but the fillings were great. Nachos were loaded and generous with a tasty flavour. Service was good and the outdoor setting area is very cute. Check out my food Instagram @erinxeats for more!

Google
Customer service 9/10 Value for money 10/10 Quality of experience 7/10 This is one of the most tasty taco place I have been to and it is largely attributes to the makes of proteins and the special souces. I will recommend this as a place to visit on your way passing the town. It is very delicious and the owner(s) are very easy to approach. There are tables chairs and restroom. However. When the owner posts it is not fastfood. She means it. 3 groups ahead of us and we waited roughly 40 minutes before we are received. Don't go here if you are in a rush. The fish taco used almost cold fried fish. It was heated earlier obviously but it became cold when served. This tasted gross and we gave up the fish taco. I would let this go and call it a wonderful (despite the wait) experience if it wasn't for both of us felt sick afterward that afternoon. I had a stomachache that forced me to a restroom and some pills. And the other one of us had stomachache. We did not eat anything else so we think it might have been the bite on the fish taco.

Google
Pretty good taco place if you need to grab a quick bite. It is located in front of Hana Hou restaurant. Only one party can be in the restaurant at a time. There are plenty of benches around the property to choose from if you plan to stay and eat there. They accept cash only, so make sure you have some on hand. The fish tacos tasted fresh and you get to choose between 4 different sauces to put in your meal.

Casual roadside food truck. Chanzey, who took our order and also made it, was the best! She was kind and had a great smile :-) The food was yummy! My taco salad was delicious - Thanks Chanzey!!

Google
This is a good find for lunch on our day of touring Volcanoes NP. We enjoyed our impromptu lunch. She can make any modifications you want. We loved the choices offered and the food, there is some space to sit outside but we took takeout.

Google
The wait to get food was exceptionally long, but this was due to only one person working. The taco salads were acceptable and quite a significant amount of food, though the guacamole did not appear freshly prepared. The lilikoi lemonade was a refreshing treat.

Google
Really nice food option. Big burritos and nachos, cookies - get the Arnold Palmer as it is to die for.. CASH ONLY, make sure you have cash in hand!

Yelp
BesT burritos EVER! Never would you explect such good Mex in Naalehu, Hawaii ¡Mahalo Mucho!
google avatar

Natasha M.

Yelp
Oh My! The portions are huge and must be split. But your tastebuds will scream asking for more! Trust me and get the Lilikoi Lemonade!!! Hands down one of the best! We had the owner and she was super nice and very knowledgeable about the area. It is a very small place and the outdoor eating is nice and cozy

Yelp
If you're expecting San Diego-Mexico border Mexican food, lower your expectations. However, Taco Tita does the duty of providing Mexican food for the south side. I've always ordered the taco salad or the nachos. Best bang for your buck. Would I go back? Yes, if I were ever in Na'alehu but I wouldn't drive out just for this. Great service. Staff was very informative of their menu. Cash only.

Yelp
5 stars for the customer service alone! Super friendly and very affordable and accommodating. All items can be made vegan. Everything is made fresh daily and made to order. Nice variety for being so far off the highway. Cute outdoor tables, clean restrooms. CASH ONLY First off order the Arnold Palmer, you can thank me later. I ordered the vegan taco salad. It was delicious.

Yelp
Once again we stopped on our way thru and it never disappoints. Everything from the nachos, to tacos, to burrito, to roll up. All outstanding and delicious. Thank you again for the wonderful service and great food.

Yelp
We live in the area and have been here three times now. If you want Hau'oli/Mexican food this is the place for you because there is nothing close to Mexican cuisine here and I'm done giving it a chance. The taco salad with shredded beef was sad to say the least. Chips from a bag, romaine lettuce and mushy shredded beef with maybe a tablespoon of prefab cheese was the sum of it. The only redeeming factor was the salsa Verde. Hang up your Mexican apron. You don't do it service.

Yelp
Arrived in the afternoon. Not too busy. The menu has a lot of options to choose from. My husband and I shared the fish burrito. Very filling and savory! Tables are located outside. Look out for hungry geckos looking for snacks!

Yelp
Very good service, unfortunately no fish burrito, tacos, etc. Apparently not enough demand. Certainly a good place to refuel for the drive from Hilo - Kona

Sherrie A.

Yelp
Cash only!! Best burrito I've had in a really long time. The couple who seem to run the place were super friendly and we ate at the little outdoor patio. It's at the side of the Hana Hou restaurant. Stop if traveling between Kona and Hilo; you won't regret it

Yelp
We're here visiting from Texas for a few weeks and drove by this place a few times so we decided to give it a try. We were here on 5/19/2023 and I had a ground beef taco bowl and my husband had the pork nachos. Nothing special about the food, it was a little bland. They also needed to give the picnic tables a good scrub. There was a friendly black cat outside named Poké that lived at the restaurant. The young lady that helped us said it was a stray and that she had had the cat spayed. I was glad to hear that because the island seems to have a stray cat problem. Also upon our arrival was a family of four looking at the menu which is outside. We decided fairly quickly so we went in to order. We made small talk with the lady working. She mentioned that her boss was from California so my husband jokingly said that we knew how she felt because the Californians had invaded Texas as well and we didn't like it either! I don't think she liked that, she seemed personally offended. I also mentioned that the Spanish rice and pinto beans on the menu didn't seem like Cali Mexican food (we lived in California for more that 15 years) but more Tex Mex (were from southern Texas, born and breed, the home of Tex Mex). And for the record, both the rice and beans were prepared very Tex Mex! While we were making small talk, the family of four came in to order and the lady asked them if they were with us and they said no and she very RUDELY, and I mean RUDELY, told them that it was one party at a time and they needed to wait their turn outside. I couldn't believe how rude she was. In hindsight, we should have left she was so rude to them. They walked out, apparently discussed her rudeness and left! Taco Tita probably lost at least a $60 sale. Our purchase was $27 so I asked the lady if she could change a $50 and she said yes. She handed me my change with a $5 on top and I thought the $5 was strange when my change was $23 but I put a dollar in the tip can and folded the other bills and put them in the front pocket of my purse. Not long after we left I noticed that my change was only $13 instead of $23. So I called the restaurant Hana Hou which is their sister restaurant, they're on opposite sides of the same building and told the lady on the phone what happened and she was kind of rude about it and said what do you want me to do? The only thing we can do is check the camera and I said well you can do that and you can also count the till and if it's $10 over then she shortchanged me. We ended the conversation with her taking my name and number for the manager Darren. I have not called back as we're busy enjoying our time but not I have heard from Darren. I can understand how a mistake could be made, it happens. We won't even be back in the area so getting our change is out of the question but the restaurant could at least acknowledge the error. They only take cash and that can open other wise honest people to not be so honest. If this wasn't an honest error, the owners should check their cameras more often. I have a feeling I'm not the first victim, just the first to call them on it. I can only hope my $10 will be used to buy Poké some food!

Yelp
After a long drive from Kehena/Pāhoa to South Point (2-1/2 hours; the southernmost point in the USA), then doing the turista-thang hiking about and taking pics, we were famished, as it was fast approaching the "hanger" hour! (Lol!) Fortunately, I had cell service and was able to pull-up Yelp! :D Who've guessed that in the charming little town of Na'alehu, there'd be something for us plant-based eaters?! But there was (and is), in the form of Taco Tita Take-Out!! What a fabulous find!! They can pretty much make any of their carnivore meals vegan, so YAY on that!!! Not only was our meals loaded with "sabor," but each was gut-busting!!! And an especially HUGE shout-out to the friendliest gal who was minding the store today -- Argh! I forgot to ask her name!! -- for spreading such wonderful Aloha!!! Mahalo nui loa!!! :D (PS: Cash only!! ATM next to Ace Hardware on the main road.)

Yelp
Delicious!! Service was fantastic! I would highly recommend this place! My husband and I want to go here again before we leave the island. It was that good!

Yelp
Fantastic burritos, the woman working behind the counter making our food was very nice. Next time we are passing through we are definitely stopping in.
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
Very weird. Super small area to eat. Ample room inside to order but the guy making sandwiches asked me to leave because it's "one party at a time". That left me to try and stand on the area outside their door which is SUPER CRAMPED. No thanks.... Left and went back to the bakery across the street.
google avatar

Dawn-Rene M.

Yelp
We had taco salad, the shell was stale, the tomatoes were from a can, the pork was perfect, the shredded beef was worth the additional fee. Overall it was delicious. Wish the used avocado instead of the gross guacamole spread and would loved to have a little sour cream too. But I'm a spoiled girl from Orange County so what do you expect? I hate pre-shredded cheese from a package. But for Mexican food in Naalehu it was nice. The rices d beans were flavorful. I will order tacos next time!
google avatar

Chrisrtian M.

Yelp
No comment needed nachos were over priced for feeling like they were not made from fresh ingredients

S G.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our tacos. The staff was extremely friendly. This is a great stop if you've had your fill of sweets and you don't need the bakery across the highway!
google avatar

Bethany S.

Yelp
I had lunch here and it was fantastic!! I had two shredded beef tacos with a side of rice and beans. My husband had a shredded beef burrito. Everything was excellent, super fresh ingredients, great flavor and lots of options on the menu that include tacos, burritos, or nachos. All sorts of sauce options, and drinks to wash it all down. The menu is outside, on the wall so get your order decided before entering to order. They are cash only, and are open daily until the food runs out, so be aware of that as well. All seating is outside on the black asphalt, but we managed to get a brightly colored umbrella covered picnic table with a nice afternoon breeze. Highly recommended for a quick Mexican food fix on the south side of the island, don't think you'll find anything quite like it on the south side.

Yelp
Perfection! I'm not just saying that because I was a hungry tourist. This place has a GIANT menu that looks incredible. It's real hard to decide. Tacos are my go to, but wait, do they serve breakfast all day? Maybe a burrito for my snack hole? Mmmm let's share nachos with husby! Pulled pork nachos and the most amazing freshly brewed iced tea were the way to go for a late lunch. The nachos have everything you could want, but be sure to add a sauce. We did the spicy green abs it went well with the guac and other toppings. They are cash only, that shouldn't deter you.

Yelp
Friendly fresh Mexican at Southpoint ! Burrito for two $13! Choose meats and sauce s etc
google avatar

Melinda C.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way around the island and are we glad we did! Yummy burritos split to order by helpful staff/owners. Best Palmer ever made with their home brewed iced tea and passion fruit lemonade! YUM!
google avatar

Natalya D.

Yelp
SOOOOO good. The scorpion sauce is bomb! (it is spicy for anyone that is sensitive) I got the veggie burrito, my husband got the regular burrito with chicken, added some chips (so fresh) with guac and some lilikoi lemonade's! YUM Perfect way to end the day after visiting black sand beach.

Jessica M.

Yelp
My burrito was delicious!! I had the creamy/spicy sriracha sauce and shredded chicken - hit the spot! Really liked the cabbage inside, too. Definitely in my top 10 best burritos ever. The lady behind the counter was friendly and really quick making the food. Plenty of tables and seating outside with shade, too.

Marina R.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and amazing burritos!! Highly recommend this place for southern hawaii visitors
google avatar

Ted F.

Yelp
Definitely stop here for a bite. This is the type of local spot you want to support - it's real good and it's got real ohana feels. The fish burrito bangs, and I'm pretty sure everything else does too. The Serrano sauce is pretty mild, so feel free to turn up.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely stop on our way to Volcano National Park. This place is a fan favorite for the locals and they do a nice job of keeping people within the same party separate. This is a one-person ran business so patience is a must but totally worth the short wait. We had a burrito bowl and taco salad, both were fresh and delicious! Splurge and get the Likikoi lemonade! It's delicious and very satisfying!

Grace L.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place, but I'm not sure what I expected getting Mexican food in Hawai'i. It was extremely overpriced for soggy nachos and barely any cheese, guac, or sour cream. The meat had no seasoning that I could taste and the beans were super watery. And they want to charge $1.50 for a tiny container of sauce... do not go here. :( The workers were nice, but that's about the only positive at this place. There is a bakery across the street with much better food for a lot cheaper. I should have gone there...

Ryan T.

Yelp
Pretty good food bought 3 taco salads the other day. Similar thing happened with us not reading the sign saying one party at a time. All in all the food was pretty good plus I got a stomach virus pretty sure from the taco salad so not bad

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Food was great and staff are friendly. One of our new favorite places to get lunch! Highly recommend!

Yelp
It's hard to find good Mexican food on the Island. I know, I'm always on the search for good taco's. You will not be disappointed in Taco Tita. Yeah, there are some rules but it's a small place. Sometimes there are lines, best to be ready with your order and what's the big deal with one at a time? Like I said, it's a tiny place and any more than two makes things crowded and loud. Besides we are still dealing with Covid. So relax, you'll be in for some good homemade Mexican food that is worth the wait and the few "rules" Most importantly, bring cash. It's CASH only. There is an ATM next door. The service has always been friendly. Give aloha get aloha. Easy as that. Taco Tita is only one of three Mexican food places I can whole heartedly recommend on the Big Island. Enjoy. The Good: Tasty food and friendly service The Bad: Well, it's cash only but that's ok Chances I'll be back: Yes! Great taco's. The burrito's are good as well.
google avatar

Ursula C.

Yelp
Taco Tita or more fittingly TALIBAN TACO?! The tacos are tasty. But there are many rules seemingly made by a pleasant enough looking chef. She is reminiscent of the "Soup Nazi" on the show Seinfeld. You must know your entire order before entering one at a time, even if you are with your family. Shut the door rapidly behind you. Do not touch anything. Do not peer over the counter. "Nothing to see there." Make sure to have CASH ONLY. Your quest for a taco in a charming little town may get derailed at any moment! Maybe check out the most southern restaurant next door?!
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Great options to build tacos, burritos and nachos. You also get to pick your sauce - The Serrano is bomb! Super friendly staff. It's always great to feel appreciated where you spend your money. Real cheese and homemade chips would garner five stars.

Allegra L.

Yelp
The lady running this place was really nice and very helpful with our questions. The burritos were yummy, especially with the chipotle and white sauces. The only seating is out and it was HOT!
google avatar

Traci D.

Yelp
This was a great spot to have lunch after a day hiking to green sand beach and a lot of driving. We did have to wait a bit for our food, due to Covid there was one party inside at once to order. The wait was well worth it. I got the taco salad with Baja sauce, which was great. My husband got a taco and burrito which were great as well. The price was very reasonable for the large portions. The lilikoi lemonade was fabulous too. Great customer service as well, just one worker serving up all the food and taking orders.
google avatar

Donna J.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Service was cold, bordering on rude. Small container of pico de gallo will set you back $2.50 - suggest not bothering.
google avatar

Mug B.

Yelp
Loved the food. The ingredients are fresh. Huge portions. The serving lady is very sweet and mindful while taking orders. She was specially very attentive, since we were ordering vegan. Also I ordered a kid size Burrito for my kids and she was helpful in indicating that the sauce that I wanted would be spicy for the kids. If you are visiting the black sand beach, you dont want to miss this hidden gem. Just one negative: its time consuming, since there is only one lady taking orders, preparing and again taking the money for billing. So she goes by 1 order at a time... And that can be a problem if you are short on time. Definitely recommend for authetic mexican food.

Jessica D.

Yelp
Great tacos and burrito and we loved the lilikoi lemonade! Read the reviews prior so were prepared to bring cash and also to look at the menu ahead of time to be ready for our order when we walked in. :)
google avatar

Katie D.

Yelp
HUGE, delicious burrito and a great price! The Serrano sauce on it was excellent if you can handle a good medium kick.
google avatar

Becca R.

Yelp
We stopped in this cute little take out place on our way to Volcano National Park. Friendly staff and good tacos. I got an order of the mini nachos which were super tasty and filling for $6. Lots of options for various eaters--gluten free, vegetarian, etc. and all of their sauces are homemade.

Linda B.

Yelp
We stopped here after picking up a generator in Oceanview. After doing a Yelp search and reading great reviews about this place, we decided to give it a try!! We LOVED the food and Chansey, the gal who helped us is very personable! We live outside Volcano, and this is going to be our "go to" Mexican food place!! Five ***** from us‼
google avatar

iwalani h.

Yelp
They have monstrous burritos that are tasty!! Warning - it's definitely messy so you may not want it to be a first date type of thing! this place is like a subway for tacos - you choose your meat, sauce, etc and they build it for you FRESH! Also they only accept cash so be prepared. It's always a go to when I visit Na'alehu. The customer service is great!!
google avatar

Ryan O.

Yelp
Came in around 12:30p yesterday to eat some lunch. There was only a single worker (Will?). He did an excellent job preparing our order and did it fast. Food was good and drink was refreshing (Lilikoi Lemonade). I used to own a restaurant which had a taco special. Wish we had someone like the worker at our restaurant. If you are in Naalehu I would suggest stopping here. I ate the chicken burrito with spicy sauce. As well as a shredded beef taco. There are also vegan and vegetarian options. All good, my dad got a vegan burrito. In any case if you have the opportunity definitely check them out.
google avatar

Juliana O.

Yelp
THIS WAS AMAZING! The lady making the tacos was so nice and the food it was so good. Its made fresh in front of you and i wish i could go back to get more. I had the veggie burrito and it was huge but it was so good i ate all of it. Fam got tacos and they said those were great too.
google avatar

Benjamin F.

Yelp
Awesome Mexican take out. Lovely staff that tells you good sights around - green sand beach, cliff dives and so on Menu is packed with awesome, fresh Mexican food to take away only
google avatar

Sara D.

Yelp
This area of the island doesn't really have many options when it comes to food. After checking out yelp I was very excited to try this place. It had high reviews so I was convinced we were stumbling across a little hole in the wall with amazing food. The place itself is small, and the employees are all super friendly. However, there were some communication errors. We had asked for recommendations and ordered what they recommended, but did not receive that order. The food itself was ok, but definitely nothing to write home about.
google avatar

Krystal D.

Yelp
Discovered this taco restaurant on our drive through Naalehu. Ordered the tacos: fish, pork, beef and chicken with guacamole, olives and jalapeños on the side. Tacos were more than generous and our favorites were the beef and chicken. Will definitely be back when we're in the area.
google avatar

Caity R.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim after visiting the black sand beach and its so good, we made a point to drive 2 hours back to it on the only day we're back on the Big Island. The owner is so nice and personable. Highly recommend all of the homemade salsas/sauces, the Lilikoi Lemonade, even just the pinto beans are good. Mahalo for the delicious food!!

Sonam M.

Yelp
Small menu but amazing food. Got vegan/ vegetarian option. Definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Corey M.

Yelp
Very good Mexican food. I got the pork burrito and it was fantastic. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.
