"A neighbourhood favourite, Tacofino never disappoints. The quality and flavours are consistent with their original location, a food truck in Tofino. The vibe is chill, service is friendly and the cocktails are delicious. Plus this is one of the only places in town that mix up Micheladas!" - WoodType

The food here is amazing and the portion sizes are fantastic for the price. They could use some updated furniture—the chairs and tables are small and uncomfortable. But I would definitely return for the excellent food.

Just finished the meal. It was not clear if I was to sit and order or order first at the register. The servers were not clear and wasn’t really welcoming. I had to pay and even tipped thinking they would give full service - which I did not get, and this was before the meal so my amount did not accurately reflect the service. I went out of my way to come to this location because I really enjoyed it years ago. The tables were sticky, servers did not check in on me other than to take the plates, the washroom was so dark I couldn’t see if I had cilantro stuck in my teeth. The tacos were good, but the pork taco was quite dry (I had to add tomato from other tacos for it not to get stuck in my throat and teeth). And before, their tuna taco had torched raw tuna but this time, it was all cooked but luckily not to the point of canned tuna. It was disappointing after coming in with high expectations.

Does that mean we're eating Tacofino too often when my 5 year old has started to draw your trucks? Be it what it is, we love your burritos!

Bright restaurant with a fun layout. Delicious menu. Visited recently for a quick drink and snack at the bar - very tasty, thanks for having us!

I’ve been coming here for many years, but in the past year+ it’s become so inconsistent on top of price increases that I won’t be returning any more. Today, I had a Pacific Cod burrito which is supposed to include tempura battered cod. The batter tasted like corn meal and oil, and there was almost no fish in it. I am honestly confused about the person who made this and thought it was fine to send out. The two stars are because the service is fine and the store itself is very nice. Also the loaded tots are (usually) great.

Tacofino Commissary is a must-visit for taco lovers in Vancouver. The fish tacos are crispy and flavorful, and the yam tacos offer a delicious vegetarian option. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff make dining here a pleasure. While prices are a bit on the higher side, the quality of ingredients and unique flavors justify the cost. Definitely worth checking out!

Google
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the service, it's not like anyone was rude or actively bad in any way. It's just that you order at the counter and that sort of thing which makes it feel way more like a fast food level of service. There's not a lot of engagement; it's all kind of perfunctory.

Google
This is a review solely of this location - the food at Tacofino I enjoy and don’t have anything negative to say. This location has a funny table/counter service hybrid method which leads to a bit of under service but just enough to blur the tip expectations. Enough to feel like you’re supposed to, but not enough to actually merit it. Did not appreciate being told that 2 people were not allowed to take a four top table because they needed it for the lunch rush and then having a party of 2 sat at the same table when they walked in 5 minutes later. Will pick another location based on service.

Yelp
I've only been to this location once, but I've had takeout Tacofino multiple times! I like the intimate, open seating options. They have large, long tables that you can end up sitting next to others not part of your party. Great for conversation! The nachos are delicious and I always get a crispy chicken taco and the fish taco. The crispy chicken is one of the best! Large, juicy pieces of chicken. The fish tacos are also some of the top fish tacos I've ever had! Again, large pieces of fish. We need a Tacofino in Langley!

Yelp
Shrink-flation or something, but the fish tacos I got today were terrible. The fish was so overdone it was rubbery, and the size of the actual fish was tiny. They tripled the amount of batter to try to make it look the same as before.

Yelp
Stopped by for a pickup order and it was super quick and seamless. The tacos at tacofino never fail to disappoint! They're a little pricey but they're filling, flavourful and packed with ingredients. This time I ordered the soft and crunchy carnitas taco and the fish taco. I loved the two different shells on the carnitas taco and the meat was very tender. The fish taco is always a classic staple and did not disappoint.

Yelp
Over the years I've tried to love these guys so much, but they keep making it hard. The inconsistency with menu execution is so frustrating. The menu rarely changes which is more confusing that the food lacks consistency. It's always hit & miss with them. Oh, and the excessive use of cabbage in the burritos is ridiculous. Sometimes it's just a cabbage burrito. Why!!! Shrinkflation is likely the cause. Today I watched a staff member put on gloves, clear plates from the bar and tables, then without changing the gloves, she started putting tortilla chips in bowls with her hands wearing the same gloves. She prepped many bowls getting them ready for dinner service. Gross. I was seated at the bar waiting for my food when a new staff member appeared behind the bar. I only noticed this new person because of the overpowering scent of his cologne, it was intense. That's all I could smell and taste. It ruined my meal and made me want to leave as soon as possible. It took me a while to go back, finally went back, thought they were getting better but today showed me otherwise. I miss the OG Tacofino.

Yelp
Everything was ice cold. The burrito bowl that should've had hot ingredients on it were all cold. The fried chicken was cold and soggy, the rice was cold and crunchy, and the portion was really small. The restaurant was freezing and the price I paid for everything was not worth it. I would not recommend their burrito bowls. I have eaten at tacofino before and it was good, this was incredibly disappointing. Felt like a big waste of money. I could've made something better at home. Service was fine but it wasn't good.

Yelp
The food here is to DIE for! My favourite meal is the Crispy Chicken Burrito! My BF loves the Taco El Pastor. The ambiance is cute and the service is always friendly. Highly recommended!

Yelp
A classic I go to when I want fish tacos! I was surprised at how fresh the tacos remained when you ordered them for delivery. COVID protocols: like I said above, I order through takeout! My order: Crispy chicken taco 4/5 Pacific cod taco 5/5 (When I eat in at their downtown location) nachos 5/5 It honestly surprised me how fresh the tacos were when I got them for takeout-- I thought it would lose its crunch and get soggy but it was totally fine. I don't live too far away so by no means was it a long drive but I didn't need to pop the fish/chicken into my air fryer. I haven't dined-in but if you do, I highly recommend the nachos and their happy hour menu is impeccable. I typically suggest Tacofino when I know it'll be a long catchup and we need something tasty to snack on. Final recommendation: If you held back on taco takeout, try it! I'll honestly try it again to see if it was a blip or if this is consistent time and time again.

Yelp
Very busy on a Friday. Ordered taco chip platter with avocado, buttermilk chicken taco & ahi taco, all not good. Platter with long ago melted cheese, few tomatoes, greens, cheese, no sour cream, side of avocado for $24, a real bargain. Buttermilk chicken cooked long ago, hard & chewy. Tuna taco salty with what I do not know. Horrible expensive $50 meal. Will NOT be back. What exactly is the appeal of this menu & this place?????

Yelp
We order from tacofino Hastings commissary regularly-used to be weekly, then every couple weeks, now maybe once a month. So it might not make sense that I'm giving them 3 stars. But this place has got to be the most inconsistent taco/burrito joint I have ever come across. It's in our hood and we like it more than other options and we sort of have a routine date but lately it's felt hard to keep up. I used to get a veggie burrito I loved but they dropped it maybe 1.5-2 years ago (the scrapple). Now I get the crispy chicken burrito. Ever 3- 4 weeks it's like a damn good burrito. When it's done we'll, it's great. But it's just not done well nearly enough. Every week there is a different amount of sauce/slaw/rice/spice. Some weeks it is inexplicably missing main components listed like avocado or suace or the cabbage is just plain. Or it's just dry cabbage and meat and nothing else-I'm not exaggerating, that happened. Lately the cilantro is never chopped, it's just whole long stems that you have to pull out. Some weeks it seems to have been wrapped by someone who has never wrapped a burrito before. Some weeks all the chicken is at one end, some weeks it's mostly skin and I'm like where is the meat?! One end usually has a lot more sauce than the other, but even that's inconsistent. It's almost become a game to us but I'm finally leaving a review after all this time because I'd love to just know what it's going to be like. We really want to keep ordering. My husband always gets the tuna burrito and while not as inconsistent as mine, it still suffers from what seem like inexplicable amateur nights when someone who had no idea what it was supposed to be like, makes it. We tried ordering on the same night every week to see if that helped. It didn't. I just wish they'd do an all staff demo of what the burritos are supposed to be like cause it's super frustrating to be a very loyal customer and still just never know if it's it's gonna be a good one. I have taken many photos of what the first bite and middle of the burritos are like but I'll have to look for them. I wanted to write this while motivated as it has always escaped me to leave a review. We ordered elsewhere tonight because I didn't want to be disappointed. Please get your team on the same page!

Yelp
My favorite Tacofino location. Great to sit at the bar and enjoy fresh food and a tasty margarita. Always friendly staff, and a clean environment.

Yelp
I ordered a bean and cheese burrito through Uber eats. It was missing the cheese, and the way my burrito was wrapped, the entire top half was only beans and the entire bottom half was only salsa. Who wants that? It was horrible. Quality of food has really gone down here, I used to love this place.

Charlie S.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff but a bit on the pricey side. Ordered burritos and had to pay extra for cheese, which is a bit odd because I thought burritos came with cheese. I would visit again but would not order the same thing. These folks would do well in Port Moody close to the breweries.

Yelp
I'm not one to search for Mexican food in the cities I visit, especially in another country, but this place was highly recommended on quite a few blogs, plus PORK JOWL aka pork cheek was a huge draw. The inside is a bit zany and original. So hipster. Choose from 'Not Tacos', Burritos, Tacos, Cocktails, Beers, and Dessert -- super simple. For a starter we ordered the *Black Bean Dip* which also had come with a helping of the pork jowl. There was a good smokyness to this dish backed up by the lusciousness of that pork jowl. Still can't believe they had the nerve to charge us $1 CAD for each additional flour tortilla we wanted. They don't give you much to start with (3). *Grilled Wagyu Steak* taco was chewy and not anything special although I did like the acidity and sweetness the pickled veggies gave to the dish. The *Pork Jowl* taco was the winner of course. Fried shallots offered a crunch and the balance between the sweet juices of the pineapple and the sriracha sauce elevated the dish. Pork Jowl reminds me of pork belly, but it's not as thick of a slab and is not always reduced to a chewy mess. This one was SO juicy and easy to bite into. The Earl Grey Sour ordered off the cocktail menu was a good choice. The guy who crafted it even made sure to come over and hear our thoughts about it. Apparently, it was a favorite during the holidays, but it was so popular that they kept it on! Wise decision, in my opinion!

Yelp
Delicious food! We ordered guacamole/chips, cod burrito bowl, crispy chicken bowl. Everything was good. The location is a little run down but don't let that stop you.

Yelp
Before I go into the review itself, let me provide a little background info. We went to Tacofino (location in Gastown) a few years back and while we generally thought it was decent, we weren't wowed. The atmosphere was nice/trendy but we felt that the food fell a little flat (although their descriptions sounded really great on the menu). In September 2018, we visited the original Tacofino (truck) in Tofino and were blown away! So fresh and tasty.. especially the fish taco. After looking at the reviews for Tacofino Commissary, a lot of people mentioned that some of the food here is the same as the food at the original truck, so we decided to give it a shot! Food: I'm soooo glad we came here! We kept things simple by just ordering tacos (rather than any apps, soup, etc.) and were really satisfied with our selection. We got the fish taco, cauliflower taco, chicken taco, and albacore tuna taco. My ranking is probably 1) fish 2) cauliflower & tuna (tied) 3) chicken. All were tasty but the chicken one wasn't as unique/flavorful, but it was still good. I'm pleased to report that the fish taco was essentially the same as the one we had at the truck, which is amazing! The cauliflower one had lots of filling, and is really unique - you probably won't be disappointed that it's not meat! Service/Vibe/Prices: The waitress was super friendly and helpful while we made our selections (we were starving and pretty much wanted everything on the menu - lol). She recommended the cauliflower taco and I'm glad we got it! She also gave us some food recommendations after learning that we were visiting from Seattle. The vibe is industrial/fairly simple. Prices are good - tacos are pretty large (we got 4 for 2 people and were pretty full afterward). I'm so happy that we can drive from Seattle to Vancouver for Tacofino tacos, rather than all the way to Vancouver Island :)

Yelp
Got their famous nachos, fish tacos, fried chicken tacos and a carnitas crunch taco via Ubereats Won't dive in too deep with tacos but the fish and fried chicken ones were absolute fire as usual! The fun part was getting the nachos - they send you a kit and some instructions on how to prep them at home - so nice to eat them fresh outta the oven. What I love bout these nachos in particular is that they're not too heavy cuz of the salsa and other cheese! This has been a go to of mine for tacos, and I'm very happy that the delivery experience still lets us enjoy their delicious food with that "freshly made" experience!

Yelp
Been to the Tacofino Commissary twice with the hubby and both times, we were happy with the quality and taste of the dishes we ordered. For myself, I really enjoyed their tuna taco -- I love the Japanese flavours they incorporated in it. Also, size of the tuna was big enough to have a piece of tuna in every bite. On the other hand, my hubby loves their fish tacos. For starters, the tatertots is a tasty and unique alternative to nachos. We enjoyed the flavours and textures of this dish. Their chips with salsa and guacamole is a great starter too! Especially when the chips are still warm and crisp. Their banana churros remind me of a Filipino dessert and it was lovely although portion size is a bit too small though. The dulce de leche sauce is soooo good! The interiors have an industrial feel to it with unique lighting fixtures. Although it can really get quite loud in this establishment especially when it's packed. Service is a bit spotty at times though and sometimes I feel like some servers purposely ignore you. Despite the spotty service -- which hopefully they'll improve, Tacofino is on our list of Taco places to eat in Vancity.

Yelp
Ever since I was a child, I have been obsessed with tacos and Mexican-style wraps (tortilla). I do not talk to my eldest brother (his name is Soil) because he said he would not eat a special taco that I prepared for him at my wedding. As you can probably guess, I eat tacos everyday. Although I have not been to the Tacofino Commissary in-person, I have reviewed the restaurant website literally thousands of times (online) and am very familiar with the menu that they offer to customers who do visit the physical location to eat. I proudly refer to this restaurant as "the best restaurant in Vancouver" because it has my favourite food: nachos. Rest assured, I will eat at this restaurant very soon. Thank you Tacofino.

Yelp
Dropped by with the fam before visiting the Chinese Lantern Festival at PNE on a Sunday late afternoon. Had pretty high expectations going in -- saw high ratings on Yelp and heard good things from friends. Nice layout, although too dark to see the food well. Service was quick, and I liked how the tables were pre-stocked with utensils and napkins. Got the tater tots and tuna ceviche at Happy Hour price, plus the fish, steak, and tuna tacos. Tater tots ($9) were fantastic -- highly recommended. Tuna ceviche ($8) was less impressive and a little too sour for my taste, although the accompanying chips were excellent. Not a fan of the tuna taco ($7), but the fish taco ($6) was definitely worth it. Wagyu steak ($8) was a bit hard to chew so not best for taco texture. Overall worth the visit, but definitely wouldn't come back with my brother -- he was expecting authentic Mexican goodness, and this is more a modern/west coast twist.

Yelp
Wow, I can't believe I've lived so long without ever eating Mexican food. How ever did I survive without knowing the sinful taste of a taco ?? Anyway, I have now, so it's all good. I'm mad that I live so far from this place though. Brussel Sprouts Taco (5/5) Holy crap this was so unbelievably good. The brussels were super flavourful and crispy, and the sauces and the crispy sweet potato tied everything together. Hell, I'm still dreaming about this taco. Cauliflower Taco (4.5/5) This was so good as well, but it just doesn't compare to the Brussels taco. The battered onion on top was probably my favourite part. I wish the cauliflower was a little more charred and flavourful, but otherwise I have no complaints. Chicken Wings (4.5/5) I didn't try this, but my parents liked this a lot. They also have green and red salsa (?) i believe which were pretty good. I have to hit up the other Tacofino locations now to get my taco fix to satisfy my newly discovered taco cravings goddamnit my wallet is mad at me now.

Yelp
I picked up some takeout items from them today and wanted to express how dissatisfied I am with the order. The tacos were fine, although the menu was limited. The $9 chips and gauc was a rip off, it came with 14 chips not to mention the $4 add on for the unripened bland tomato salsa. Disappointed in the quantity and servers attitude when I was handed the food. Will never return.

Jam It Or Can It -.

Yelp
I am serious about fish tacos. I love them. I get the battered fish tacos from Tacofino and I'm in heaven. Last time I also got a crispy chicken taco too. It was also good! The only problem I had was some oil from the chicken taco dripped on my jeans! Anyway, I drove those tacos into my belly faster than I could say "taco tuesday is for wimps, I eat tacos erry day". The one of east Hastings is hard to miss, but you're a smart cookie, you'll find it with your computer phone. I did a review of my last feast. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/wD6OU4itJsU

Yelp
I think this one is the best tacofino out of all of them! It's always solid and it's not too busy every time I've been here ! Also the decor is really pretty ! If I come here with a few friends definitely get the nachos they're to die for !! Add chorizo too so yummy, there's enough toppings to cover all the chips which is a plus. Also tried the tater tots, loved the tots itself but a little too saucy. Tacos here are a decent size I think two is enough to fill you up. My favourites are the ahi tuna and cauliflower, both very yummy and light ! Def be coming back when I'm craving tacos!

Don W.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong. I love tacofino. I love the commissary and what it has added to the Hastings Sunrise neighborhood over the years. But! I am really disappointed to see them choosing a burrito bar model rather than returning to the wonderful community destination they once were. Now they're just Churning it out for the money? As probably one of your best customers of this location, it's a let down. We supported you guys through COVID because we wanted you to stick around, not be another nameless ghost kitchen. Tears.

Yelp
Da best pork jowl tacos ever. Hipster af Tex-Mex style food. The pork jowl tacos has got the juice AND the squeeze! Crunchy outer crust with succulent morsels of pork underneath. The pineapple and pickled onions add a really good acidic tone to it!! Their totchos are also bomb! Their salsa game is really on point with the flavors! Guac and chips are also amazing. Kinda pricey for both, but if you go with a friend and share, it ain't too bad. Service is kinda meh and you also have to share tables here. Also the wait is super long if you visit during peak dinner hours. Nevertheless, I ain't mad at it. Food and ambience is great. Definitely one of my fave stops in Canada while I'm visiting.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to have some dinner at the Tacofino Commissary. It probably would be best suited at 3.5/5, but since that's not possible it gets a 4. The place is small, so be prepared to wait in line to be seated. Food ranges from $6-$16 per item with most tacos being around $6-$8. There are definitely places that will provide you with better value for your money, but you don't lose points because of pricing so long as the food matches its price. I got the chicken burrito steak and pork tacos today and enjoyed each of them equally. Decently sized tacos and full of fresh ingredients. Would have liked it if the burrito was less oily and if there were spicier options.. but it was nice regardless. 4/5, will probably go again sometime later.. #roadtoelite

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening. The place was really busy, but service was fast and friendly, and the food came flying out much faster than I would possibly have imagined. I had the cauliflower, the brussels sprouts, and the chicken. All were excellent, but the cauliflower just won the day... the most flavourful and joy-inducing. Only drawback to the place is that it's crazy noisy - it's not even the music, just the voices richocheting off the walls. I was kind of glad I was there by myself, because it was so loud that having a real conversation would have been difficult, and being on my own I could zip out of the ruckus quickly as soon as I was done eating. But damn, the food is worth it.

Yelp
Got the zucchini taco and chicken taco. Zucchini taco: not bad. Not as many flavours as I would have liked/come to expect from Tacofino, BUUUT, it wasn't bad! Chicken taco: I REAAALLLLLLLLLLLY liked this. The crunch on the chicken was good, the toppings were good. I'd very much get this again. Service was good too!
google avatar

Robin L.

Yelp
Tacofino is a twist on west coast tacos, not your typical Mexican tacos. Definitely recommend their fish taco and tuna taco. The chicken burrito is to die for as well.
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
Way better than the location in gastown in my opinion. The chips were fresh, crispy, not too oily and went well with the guac and salsa. The amount of meat in the pork jowl taco was fairly small, a little overly fried - but had a lot of cabbage and salsa. It tasted pretty good, but wasn't my favorite and a little pricy at $6+. The best part was the fish taco tho - super flaky, crispy and very filling. Would definitely get that again. Yum. This first visit had me craving chips and guac, so I came back for a second round another day. The place was packed and the wait for a togo order was long, and I was a bit disappointed that the chips the second time weren't fresh and a bit stale - surprising considering how busy the place was.

Yelp
I had eaten at the Tacofino food truck in Tofino, but unfortunately that day they were out of Diablo cookies, so I've been wanting to try the Hastings location for a few months now. To preface, I'm quite sensitive to peppers so this place might not have been the best, but usually I can find something to make do. I found their menu a bit narrow though so it made it a bit tougher. I ended up going with the Tater Tots without the green chorizo (which has peppers in it), but unfortunately the menu failed to mention it also had jalapeños in it too, so some sadness there. But no matter, I was here for the cookie which I had been waiting many months to try. So I ordered it and it came. First, I guess I had come up with this vision of what the cookie would be, I thought it would be some delicious, warm chocolate chunk cookie. Rather it was a chocolate cookie with something that looked like a caramel piece on it. So I started eating it.. chew chew.. chew.. spicy?? The cookie is spicy??? Yes there is cayenne pepper in the cookie!! In hindsight, I guess it makes sense and why they call it a Diablo cookie, but unfortunately my vision of what this cookie would be was shattered. So I couldn't finish it and had to give it to my wife. I think this place would be all right for normal folk, but for us with pepper sensitivities, it's probably not the wisest choice!

Yelp
Came here to see how their tacos compared to their food truck, which I tried first a few years back. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as along Hastings outside of rush hour. The inside is most definitely hipster, with some pretty cool looking lights. A bunch of glowing spheres held in place with bendy wires. Instead of individual tables, the place is set up like a high school cafeteria, with long shared benches. Makes ingress and egress difficult, but adds to the hipster experience. The place was absolutely packed when I went (on a Tuesday), with a lineup going out the door. Tacos are somewhat reasonably priced at $6-7 apiece, though I do wish it was a buck or two cheaper. Eat 2-3 of these things and see the price go up real fast. I had the fish taco. It tastes pretty much exactly like the food cart version. Absolutely delicious. Nice crunchy fish, fresh toppings. The lime slice adds just that little bit of tang that balances out the saltiness. I would definitely be back, though it would be more for a snack than a meal. Recommended.

Yelp
Ordered through Ubereats. Received completely different order, didn't follow instructions. I have special diet. Huge disappointment!!!!!!!!!! Such a sloppy job This happened to me first time, Never gonna order there again.

Yelp
We went here during the height of lunch, with six dirty riggers infiltrating one whole table and a constant breathe of orders simultaneously with one single server. However this server was well equip fought all the orders and had the good out in a timely manner we were in and out in less than an hour. If you go get the soup. It far surpasses the menus description wildly. Just do it.

Yelp
I came for lunch knowing I was going to get the same thing (beef and pork) but then when we sat down....the lunch menu showed up. What the donkey balls is this...no nachos? No beef taco? No queso fundido? I'm leaving! JK. I was forced to try something else so I settled for the tuna taco but deep down still disappointed they didn't have the beef one for lunch. Got the tuna and pork jowl and some chips and salsa with a side of guac. The place wasn't very busy for some reason but soon after we ordered, it was packed! Lucky for us. My previous review already shares my love for the pork jowl so I don't need to go into detail...but that tuna. Mmm mmm mmm. Imagine a sushi taco. You can't right? Then shove that tuna taco in your face and you'll know what I mean. It was a beautifully seared tuna with it raw on the inside, some ginger (Japanese restaurant style), seaweed salad and some wasabi mayo or aioli or something - AMAZING. It was so light and refreshing which is a nice change from the meatiness of pork and beef. I ended up getting two of these. SO GOOD! I had the cookies and cream and gave the cookies to my better half. I just wanted the horchata which you can't order separately. It was the creamiest horchata I've ever had. I've always thought I wanted a really rich creamy one and never found it but holy...this was too creamy for me (say it ain't so...). Delicious but I can see why the dish is called cookies and cream, not cookies and milk. Fabulous service as usual. Random etiquette note: The entranceway is tight. If you see patrons leaving after a meal, please let them out first before barging in. I banged into my partner so hard because an a-hole decided he'd barge in and smack into us instead of letting us out first. Everyone managed to step aside or move so we could get out the door, but not this one entitled prick.

Yelp
Delicious, overfilled tacos bigger than my hands! Need I say more? I really like the feel of this establishment, with its wooden tables and benches and warm unique lighting arrangement. I decided on the Fish and Pork Jowl Taco ($6/each). Pricey but the stack of napkins on the table is a prelude to the messy deliciousness to come. The Pork Jowl Taco was tender and marinated nicely, all complimented with the fresh crunchy cabbage and sweet pineapple; however, the generous drizzle of shiracha kept my tastebuds dancing on hot coals (note: I'm a baby when it comes to spice) but it was enjoyable nonetheless. The Fish Taco was my fave, the fish was nicely battered and fried crispy to leave the fish juicy and tender on the inside. The crisp cabbage, subtle chipotle mayo and salsa fresca was a nice compliment to the fish. Like I said, the napkins and tacos the size of my outstretched hands says it all - the tacos were packed with so much good stuff it was hard to eat it without half the stuff falling out. Eating like a kid, I scooped up every delicious crump until my plate was empty. If you're not into tacos (who ARE you?) there are other non-taco items like Grilled Octopus Salad, Tatertots, pozole (soup) and yummy deserts like Banana Churros. Sad there wasn't any horchata at this establishment but service was nice and we waited about 20 minutes for our table on a Saturday around 5:30pm. Free street parking at the park nearby. Overall, busy and tasty place to grab a taco.

Yelp
My buddy had been raving about Tacofino for three weeks and we finally went 10/11 I parked without ever seeing it but it turns out I was within a short walk of it. The restaurant is spacious. We were seated quickly. My friend required a table and it was no problem to the person seating us. We both got sweet tea with no lemon and it was good. I think my friend got the taco grande off the lunch menu. I got chili relleno with rice and beans. Salsa and chips arrived. The chips were fresh. The red salsa was satisfactory and not too spicy. The brown salsa is based on black beans and is tasty and not spicy. My meal was very good and filling. The chili relleno is filled with cheese. My friends meal was a taco, a big enchilada, a salad and something else. It was on two plates. I will try it next time. The service was quick and attentive. We beat the lunch crowd and there were people coming in to dine as we were leaving. Some of the other reviews appear to be overly critical. Why anyone would hit the roof because their Mexican food has cheese on it is beyond me. I love cheese and eat some daily. It adds to the meal and takes nothing away. Have a nice day :

Yelp
I was driving by Tacofino Commissary today and decided to stop in to get a burrito to go! I ordered the Chicken Burrito and it was soooo good! First of all the tortilla shell was the best texture...they must grill it somehow...it had such a nice crust but yet still a good chew to it! The nacho crusted chicken was...crispy and delicious. All of the ingredients worked so well together in both texture and flavour! The restaurant was nearly full...just a couple of seats left...it had such a happy and friendly energy in the place! The staff were super friendly and helpful! I was in and out within 10 mins! A bite at any Tacofino location is ALWAYS a good thing!

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! The tacos are AMAZing! We were out for a late brunch and for our unfortunate mishap at *chem* Red wagon, we decided to walk a block to Tacofino for some mexican food instead. We were greeted by an enthusiastic lady, actually all the servers there are enthusiastic and looked happy working there. We were told that they'd be switching menus in 10 minutes so all burritos will be taken off so if that's what we want to order we may have to do it in a jiffy (no pressure there). Their menu is simple. Taco's on the left, burritos and soup in the middle and desserts on the right. In a quick glance, I didn't see the nacho's which everyone's been telling me to try so I just decided to go with the flow and order the taco's and a burritos. I've had their burritos from the food truck and they were no only huge but also very tasty. At last we ordered: -2 x fish tacos -1 x tuna taco -1 x pork jowl taco -1 x chorizo burrito -1 x banana churros My favourite taco was the tuna taco. The flavours were exploding in my mouth. So full of asian flavours and the seared tuna was just yum! My friend once told me that adding pickled ginger to sushi is crazy good, I'd have to say adding pickled ginger to taco's is ever better! My friend liked the fish taco the most. The fish had a nice crunch and the veggies kept it moist. The pork jowl was not bad, not our favourites. It had a tropical taste to it due to the diced pineapples on top. The burrito was also very delicious. It's a bit smaller than the ones you get from the truck but with our meal, it was a good size. Half of the burrito was filled with thinly chopped cabbage and cheese and the other half was chorizo with some minced meat paste? What stood out to me was how flavourful the cheese and I normally don't like eating cabbage but I'd say I prefer the veggie side of the burrito more than the meat. For dessert you get two banana flavoured churros with a dipping sauce. Not sure if the churros were actually made with bananas but I definitely got the taste of it. It was not overly sweet but if you like a bit more sweetness to it, there's a caramel colored dipping sauce that tasted to me, like condensed milk. Yum! Glad we ended up eating here and definitely will be back to try their other items.

Yelp
Ta!co!fi!no! The food is delicious on good days, and slightly disappointing on not so good days, because I know how good it can be when it's good. The dish constitutions and concepts are amazing, but the quality has been somewhat inconsistent in my experience, with things prepared differently or ingredients seemingly missing for takeout. Sitting down to eat has always been pleasant, although it can get pretty loud and echoey during busier hours.

Yelp
Let's Tacobout it!!! We came on Saturday with a group of 6 and only had to wait 5 minutes. Ordered a "pitcher" of beer which is really 64 ounces of amazingness! I ordered the nachos to split and it was delicious. I've been told to get the tater tots by everyone and their dog but I couldn't resist the lure of the nachos. Home made chips and a cheese blend that includes feta. Yum!!! I then got 2 tacos which was a huge mistake because beer + nachos = full! I started with the squash and potato taco. The shell was crunchy and the flavors really went lovely together. A bit messy but that's tacos! Then I got the cauliflower taco (minus the spicy fish sauce) and I was in heaven. I barely put the taco down. It was such a flavorful taco and extremely fresh. It wasn't too greasy and the added green hot sauce accompanied it quite well! Big thumbs up for this place!!

Yelp
The fish tacos are serious to die for!!! So unbelievable addicting. Love dining in and having a nice plate of nachos and a margarita. The margaritas are expensive but the amount of care and effort that goes into them makes them 100% worth it! They have a vanilla bean rim salt and it's just all around an experience in its own. As soon as lockdown is over I promise you I'll be plopped down in their sipping my margarita with 2 fish tacos and a place of nachos!

Yelp
I have visited the Tacofino food truck MANY A TIMES let me tell you! I LOVE THAT PLACE. I also have eaten at another one of your locations I would say a couple of years ago. Yes.. the food is AMAZING, but Food in the Service Industry is only part of the equation. Service is what I'm talking about, and not PERFECT service, just NICE people. So, you can imagine after meeting so many great people at the Food Truck, I wasn't expecting some hipster douchbag to serve me at the Hastings Location. When my wife and I start to place our order, I tell the server that there was this cauliflower dish that I had had at one point in the restaurant that I really liked. He gives me a puzzled look and says "I have no idea what you're talking about". Ok.. all good. I tell him maybe they used to have it and don't anymore and that's too bad because it was so delicious. Our server, Pan Face! How about, I don't know, Engage with your customers when they tell you how much they loved something.. I know you can't necessarily bring it back but it's called Customer Service, maybe even feign interest? So I proceed to order the Cauliflower Tacos.. which he didn't recommend, I just ordered. When they arrive, I take one bite and am thrilled to find out that the filling is exactly (or I think) the same as the dish I used to have! So exciting! When our server comes to check in, I tell him how excited I am because this is exactly the cauliflower that used to be in the dish (or very similar). His response.. "Ok.. " in a "why are you telling me this?' TONE Seriously? How about if someone else comes in and says they miss that dish, NOW you can tell them, another customer came in and felt that the cauliflower tacos were very similar maybe you'd like to order that instead? Man. it was like pulling teeth. So not impressed. Hipster Laisser Faire service is so 2 years ago guys.

Yelp
I remember enjoying the food here several years ago when it first opened its doors in Vancouver, but I did not enjoy my food during my recent visit to this location. My friends and I shared the tater tots to start, since a lot of reviews seem to recommend this dish, but I found it very bland and unflavorful. For the main, I ordered the Pork Jowl Taco and Fish Taco, considering the amount of reviews on Yelp mentioning these two dishes, but both fell short of my expectations. The fish taco is usually really hard to screw up in my opinion, but their version didn't do it for me. The batter was light, and the fish was perfectly cooked, but the components didn't work, and it felt very bland. The pork jowl was also very tender and good on its own, but the ingredients in the taco didn't complement the meat in any way. The food was average- at 3 stars, but the service was terrible, so had to bump the star down to two. One of the servers was very rude and unnecessary sarcastic, which kind of ruined my whole experience there. Despite the average food, I was having a good time there with friends, and he just ruined it with his attitude. Mind you, it was just one server- the other guy serving was very friendly and pleasant. But one person can really ruin the whole experience. Probably won't be back to this location, but will give the other Tacofino locations a try, if I'm in the neighbourhood.

Yelp
Delicious! and super-chill! The flavors were good. The tacos could have been a bit hotter temperature wise. Overall a great eat if you are in the area. I liked the atmosphere, very youthful vibes. Great for a friend meet up or date.

Yelp
Amazing fish taco and burrito's. This is a gem in the heart of vancouver. The food truck scene is great in Vancouver and this is probably the best they have!!
