As a Mexican who’s been to Tacofino many times and genuinely loves the food, it’s frustrating and disappointing to be treated poorly—especially in a place that represents my culture. Unfortunately, this is now the second time I’ve been served by the same person and had a very uncomfortable experience.
Today, she dropped the menus on the table without a word, ignored my “thank you,” and gave off a rude and dismissive attitude throughout. Eventually, I asked to speak to the manager and requested a different server. I told her directly, “This is the second time you’ve treated us like this,” and her response was, “I don’t know you.” That’s exactly the problem—I remember her because of the bad experience. I didn’t insult her or raise my voice. I simply wanted respectful service, which I didn’t get.
It’s incredibly disheartening to feel unwelcome, especially in a restaurant that profits off Mexican cuisine without employing actual Mexican staff. I honestly left feeling uncomfortable, disrespected, and wondering whether we were being treated this way because of who we are. This needs to be addressed by management. Good food is not enough if the hospitality fails.
