Tacos "El Gato Volador"

Another place I found on the top 50 list- they have birria and quesobirria 15 and 20 pesos each. Heaping piles of meat and toppings, your classic local taco stand. The meat tasted good and not overly salted.

Stumbled upon this place by accident and was happy about it. I got the bistec and some kind of pork tacos. Kind people, many toppings, and it seemed like there were loads of locals eating there.

Just ate here 5 minutes ago. Already leaving a review :) top 3 best tacos so far in CDMX! Incredible flavor and 20 pesos each!!!!

Very delicious local street taco. My wife and I came here about 6 times during our 3 weeks stay in cdmx. Try all the meat, try with queso, eat with potato and onions, and enjoy!

amazing tacos. it’s not a restaurant, it’s like 3 or 4 different food trucks and also one that makes fruit based items. we ordered from 2 trucks that are across from each other. one that had the birria tacos and the one across. the one with birria tacos had potato you can out on the side or inside and that was yummy. the one across had incredible pastor and asada tacos. wowowow.

CAUTION: Don’t get ripped off!! I came here regularly for some time. Short, darker guy tried to pull a fast one. The two that was working last night on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at around 7:30 pm (fat, bigger guy, possibly in his early 30s, and short, darker guy, possibly in his early 20s, were both terrible (not the usual weekday crew with the older gentlemen, possibly around his 60s, that has white hair/stache, grandpa looking type). Grandpa was the one who normally cuts the pastor and gives it to you, at least on weekday evenings, and who I think is the owner. They were attentive. However, I was the only customer to order at the time on this Sunday evening and the bigger dude that was the main cook took his sweet time. He had a “whatever” attitude along with the other guy and did not care. He finally answered back after I asked him for tacos where I repeated the same order. He did not even serve me! It was the shorter, darker guy who he told and was the one who cut the pastor and gave it to me after I repeated myself again for a simple order to him. First of all, the amount of meat he gave was skimpy compared to the usual. The red hot sauce was practically empty (not normal) maybe because it was a Sunday or just these two working. Leftover trays were stacking on the table with barely enough room as it is due to the extras, such as onions, limes, etc. I didn’t think much of it but thought it was odd. (this should have alerted me into being more cautious because they seemed lazy). I gave the dude pesos and waited for change. He gave me coins back and made it appear like that was all of it. I counted as I took a couple of steps away and a whole lot was missing! Then, I turned around with an annoyed face and smaller dude was standing there and said “Oh, need change” where he then walked across to the fruit street vendor right next to the other taco vendor for it. He came back and gave me the rest but likely thought I was a usual tourist to try to rip off - to see if I’d just walk away with the change but if I came back he had a backup excuse of “Oh, need change.” Long story short, keep track of the price and amount of change you get back (funny how this is a common area of multiple street vendors that have signs of food and prices). To the owner, fire this dude. This is likely not the first time because many customers only visit for a few days at most in this area. He is the reason you are losing a customer that was eating here often.

I had bistec and quesabirria tacos. Also tried potato and onions. Everything was delicious. Salsas are quite spicy.

You haven't had street tacos until you've come to the flying cat. These tacos are amazing and honestly they're probably better than some of the tacos you can get at these influencer locations. Definitely a must-have for anyone new to the area. Will have to go again!

Wow, these were the best street tacos we've had all trip! And so cheap!! 15 pesos per taco, which converts to 75 cents each. Good flavor. Their consume (soup) is total comfort and delish! They're conveniently located in Roma Norte. We stopped by at least 3x, their tacos are that good! ;)

Good tacos with very good spicy hot sauce (Green)! They only take pesos. I recommend the bistec tacos.

Found this place on a top 50 taco list and it didn't disappoint. I was looking for birria without really looking for birria and when stumbling upon it, feels so much better. Cheap and good at 15 and 20 pesos with and without cheese. Great salsas and toppings like everywhere else and the birria was not super salty!!! The seasoning was just right.

We came here on our first night in CDMX on recommendation from another travel enthusiast. This was the best start of our trip. There's about 3-4 taco vendors here. Lots of other tourists mix with locals so you know it's good. Highly recommend the birria with cheese paired with the consumme. Cheap and delicious. It's bustling and you eat standing up so you better be ready. Each stand has their own plates and you pay after you eat. So count your tacos and the costs yourselves. To the left there is also a juice stand for some fresh juice! Again know your change or you will get a bit cheated out!

These might be the best tacos I've eaten in Mexico City. And the best part? Each taco costs about 80 cents (USD)! We stopped by on a Friday and 2 pm and it was crowded with locals grabbing a quick lunch. They make everything fresh to order, so you only need to order one taco at once, to ensure your next one is piping hot. Then you pay at the end when you're done. I'm not sure how they keep track of everything but they do. I had the quesabirria taco and a campechano. We also ordered a side of the birria broth to share between my husband and my sister since we each got a quesabirria taco and just wanted to try it with the broth. Highly recommend sharing a broth because it's a good size. It was more than enough for the three of us with maybe about half left. The campechano tacos and the longaniza tacos were great as well - jam-packed with meats. They let you customize the tacos too, which was nice. For example, my husband doesn't like cilantro, so they didn't put any on his tacos. There are a bunch of accoutrements on the side you can help yourself to, including limes, salsas, veggies, and various pickles (although some of the veggies and pickles looked a bit suspect so I did not partake, but that didn't take away from the overall taco experience). I wish we discovered this place sooner and not on our last day in CDMX.

Listen up gringos, this place is good. Real good. Flying cat tacos rule. Tacos are only 11 pesos, the guys working the stall are masters at scooping up taco meat into tortillas. All of the meats are good and there's a good selection of sides to choose from around the stall. The salsa verde is very good but very spicy, be warned if you are weak and cannot handle spice. If I were in Mexico City again I would happily go back to this taco spot. I highly recommend it and you will NOT be disappointed. If you're looking for al pastor, go to the stall across from this one because this one doesn't have it.
